    Oyebanji launches aerial mapping of Ekiti to enhance land administration

    Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji yesterday launched a ground-breaking 3D drone aerial mapping of the state in a bid to enhance land administration, boost investment and establish a comprehensive geospatial database to support development projects in the state.

    Speaking while launching the exercise at a brief ceremony held at Ekiti Agro-Allied International Cargo Airport, Ado-Ekiti, Governor Oyebanji said the exercise was designed to implement a comprehensive land administration solution that would enhance government’s planning capacity and improve service delivery to residents.

    He described the exercise as a game changer for the state’s development. Highlighting the transformative potential of the project, Governor Oyebanji said the exercise would streamline land management, promote transparency, ensure security of property ownership, enhance urban planning, as well as position the state as a hub for investors.

    He said the aerial mapping would also put an end to the persistent issues of fraudulent land transactions, curb menace of land grabbing, provide accurate land records and eliminate loopholes that had been exploited for land grabbing and other irregularities, thereby making the state more attractive to local and foreign investors.

    Oyebanji, expressing optimism on the transformative potential of the exercise for the state’s economy, said: “By the time we finish what we are doing, it is going to open the window for investment in Ekiti State.

    The era of people selling one land to 10 people will stop; the era of land grabbing will stop.

    “An investor does not have to go to the office of Surveyor-General to sit with them because at a press of a button, you can locate every land and all houses in the state. So, it is a revolution and I am happy it is happening today.”

    The Special Adviser to the Governor on Lands, Survey and e-GIS, Prof James Olaleye, said the exercise was the beginning of modernisation of land administration system in Ekiti through the use of cutting-edge geospatial technologies to improve land administration, infrastructure planning and management, secure land tenures, eliminate blind search for land and boost internally generated revenue of the state.

    The contractor handling the project, Olajugba Oluropo, a surveyor, lauded the state government’s forward thinking approach in setting a new standard for land administration in the state.

    The aircraft took off for the commencement of the mapping exercise shortly after the brief ceremony.

    While commending Governor Oyebanji for his visionary leadership, especially in leveraging on innovation and technology to drive development in the state, Prof Olaleye said that the aerial photographic mission would fly at low altitude to capture every inch of the state’s landmass.

    He added that the project is expected touch every nook and corners of the state would last for one month.

    The Contractor handling the project, Surveyor Olajugba Oluropo, commended the state government’s forward thinking approach in setting a new standard for land administration in the state. 

    Oluropo who took the Governor and state officials present through a displayed mapping board as well as the aircraft’s facilities, assured the Governor of timely delivery and world-class execution of the project.

    The aircraft took off for the commencement of the mapping exercise shortly after the brief ceremony.

    APC caucus endorses Tinubu, Oyebanji for re-election

    Ekiti State Caucus of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Biodun Oyebanji for second terms in office. They cite their exemplary leadership qualities and impactful policies as reason for their endorsement.

    The endorsement, which was passed at a Caucus meeting held at Iyin Ekiti, was attended by the first civilian Governor, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, and the immediate past Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, as well as, Governor Mr Biodun Oyebanji.

    Also in attendance were the Deputy Governor, Chief Monisade Afuye, Senator Yemi Adaramodu; Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye, former Deputy Governor, Prof Modupe Adelabu; serving and former  members of the National and State Assembly, Party Chieftains, Among others.

    Moving the endorsement motion, which was ratified through a very loud voice vote, Adaramodu (Ekiti South), commended President Tinubu for his decisive economic reforms that have revitalised the country’s economy and his comprehensive security strategies that have addressed the root cause of insecurity in the country within one and half years in office.

    He said for these reasons the President deserved to be supported for re-election to sustain the gains and ensure their long term effect.

    Describing the President’s reforms as “transformational”, with profound impact on the socio-economic landscape, Senator Adaramodu said “I, on behalf of the National Assembly Caucus and as a true progressive member of our great party, APC, I move that we in Ekiti APC, want to adopt continuity, starting from our President, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, that comes 2027, we are moving that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should continue as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and that the Renew Hope Agenda shall continually be renewed”.

    Addressing concerns over high-profile political alignments outside the APC, the Senator  insisted the party remains unshaken. “We are not worried. What do you expect politicians to do other than play politics? Whether through lies or propaganda, they have to try something.”

    While moving the motion for the endorsement  of Governor Oyebanji for re- election, the Speaker, Ekiti State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye, said the Governor had  demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities characterised by his unwavering commitment to the welfare of Ekiti people and all round development of the state.

    The Speaker praised the Governor for making the party highly acceptable to the people through his sterling performance, people-oriented policies and programs as well as consistently prioritizing the needs and aspirations of the citizens, thereby fostering trust and unity across the state.

    The Speaker said: “I, Hon Adeoye Aribasoye, rise to move a motion of utmost importance concerning the leadership of our great party, APC under the leadership of our dear Governor, Biodun Oyebanji who has demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities characterised by integrity, dedication and deep commitment to the welfare and development of Ekiti and that his sterling performance has resulted in remarkable infrastructure development, enhance security, improved healthcare, education outcomes and the overall social economic growth of the state, I therefore move that this distinguished caucus of our great party APC, in Ekiti pass a vote of confidence in Governor Oyebanji, affirming our unwavering support for his leadership and vision for Ekiti.

    “Furthermore I move that this caucus endorse Governor Oyebanji to contest the forth coming 2026 gubernatorial election in Ekiti State”

    The State APC Chairman, Sola Elesin, a lawyer who thanked Oyebanji for making the party highly attractive and acceptable to all indigenes of the state through his remarkable developmental strides, maintained that  no town in the state was left out of various  government’s interventions which include infrastructure development, rural electrification, healthcare improvement, agric revolution, and youth empowerment, among others.

    Fayemi said: “Generally speaking, I think we have a lot to thank God for and we must thank our Governor, everywhere we turn to its BAO, our leader and I do exchange notes regularly, when i was coming back to the country yesterday morning, I travelled with somebody from the Senate from London and he said thank you very much for the Governor. He said I went to Ekiti for Senator Bamidele’s conferment of honourary degree, you need to extend Ekiti magic to the rest of the country to help us. This is all due to the way our Governor has conducted himself and how he conveyed his sense of humility and service to the party both at the national and the state levels, and that is why we are all gathered here to happily work together with him to accomplish the task of greater development for the people”. He said.

    Oyebanji expressed his gratitude to leaders of the party for their belief in his leadership acumen and also thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support and for creating a conducive environment that has allowed states to thrive through bold national policies and reforms.

    “I stand here this afternoon to give glory to God for a day like this, my appreciation goes to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support for us in Ekiti, this support has been the enabler for everything we have been able to achieve in the state.

He has our full support as he continues his leadership journey.” “Similarly, the caucus reiterated its support for the President, acknowledging the positive strides made under his administration. “The President’s accomplishments have been well noted, and the caucus remains firm in its earlier position, urging him to also run for another term,” he added.

    Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has commissioned a state-of-the-art dialysis center at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital to provide a cutting-edge kidney treatment and boost the health status of residents. 

    Speaking while Commissioning the dialysis Centre which was equipped by Pastor Enoch and Folu Adeboye’s His Love Foundation, Governor Oyebanji said the Centre is a testament to the remarkable outcomes that can be achieved when faith-based organizations collaborate with government, describing the facility as a shining example of the role of the church in nation building.

    The governor, who was accompanied by his wife, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji at the commissioning, said the dialysis centre would bring a significant boost to the healthcare infrastructure in the state, adding that it would alleviate the burden on patients who previously had to travel long distances to access life-saving treatment for kidney-related ailments. 

    Speaking further, the Governor explained that through the help of Pastor Enoch and Folu Adeboye, His Love Foundation and RCCG Charity Arm, the dialysis Centre had gone through a total transformation with the state-of-the-art equipment which include three brand new dialysis machines, three dialysis chairs, water treatment unit, and a 50KVA generator, among others.

    While expressing his profound gratitude to Pastor Enoch and Folu Adeboye, His Love Foundation, and RCCG Charity arm, Governor Oyebanji described the gesture as a manifestation of true compassion and service to humanity, stating further that his government would ensure that the facility is well staffed, properly maintained, and accessible to all citizens of the state and beyond. 

    “It is with a deep sense of gratitude and great joy that I stand before you today to officially commission the Enoch and Folu Adeboye Dialysis Centre here at Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti. Today’s event is more than a ceremony to us, it is a celebration of partnership of compassion, vision, and an unwavering commitment to the health and well-being of our people.

    “This newly renovated and fully equipped facility is a testament to what we can achieve when government and faith-base organizations work together in pursuit of a common good. Through the kind-hearted Pastor Enoch and Mummy Adeboye, His love Foundation, the RCCG Charity Arm, the Centre has undergone complete transformation.

    “Let me on behalf of government express my heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Pastor Enoch and Pastor Folu Adeboye, not only for this generous gift but for your continued service to humanity, the work of his love foundation across Nigeria and beyond stands as a shining example of a role the church can play in nation building”, the Governor asserted.

    In her remarks, The wife of the governor, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji revealed how the idea of a dialysis centre came during a visit by RCCG women to her office, some two years ago. She said she later approached Pastor Enoch and Folu Adeboye for support, which they invariably gave.

    The governor’s wife expressed her gratitude to the clerics for their generosity and dedication to humanity as she described the Centre as a gift that would save countless lives.

    Earlier, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, Dr Oyebanji Filani, who described health as the single most important currency capable of robbing one of his dignity especially when they lack resources to pay for it, said the project is being commissioned to provide an opportunity for people who may require dialysis to have it in a useful and in a conducive environment.

    The Commissioner, who took time to explain the various challenges the hospital went through with Dialysis before the establishment of the centre, added that the hospital averaged 40 dialysis per month which is a testament to the work and the commitment of the state Governor towards ensuring that residents enjoy dividends of democracy through provision of good health for them.

    The Commissioner commended Governor Oyebanji for his genuine support for the development of the health sector as well as the General Overseer of the Redeemed Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch and Pastor Folu Adeboye for the great work they are doing all over the world as well as their contribution towards the health sector repositioning in Ekiti state. He also used the opportunity to express appreciation to the wife of the Governor Dr (Mrs) Olayemi Oyebanji for her commitment, and dedication which facilitated the project to the state. 

    In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director of the Hospital, Prof Kolawole Olabanji highlighted the items donated to the hospital include three Dialysis Chairs and corresponding beds to go with them, state of the art water treatment unit as well as 30kva generator to power the facility.

    The Medical Director also commended Governor Oyebanji for his personal sacrifice and commitment through the great work he is doing to reposition the hospital for effectiveness and efficiency including renovation of various wards, building of new facilities and welfare of staff among others.

    Responding on behalf of the General Overseer of RCCG, the Continental Overseer, Pastor Johnson Odesola said the gesture was a significant expression of Pastor Adeboye’s enduring love for humanity and his unwavering commitment to healthcare and general well-being of Ekiti people.

    Expressing his belief that the gift of good health is the most precious blessing that can be given to any community, Pastor Odetola described the Centre as a deliberate investment in lives, health and the future of the state.

    He expressed optimism that the facility would further enhance the capacity of the hospital to deliver critical healthcare as well as support tireless effort of the government and the healthcare workers.

    Ekiti Labour leaders endorse Oyebanji’s re-election bid

    The leadership of Labour unions in Ekiti State has endorsed Governor Biodun Oyebanji for a second term in office, citing his exceptional commitment to workers’ welfare and all round development of the state for its decision.

    Speaking at a Labour Round Table Meeting with the Governor at Lady Jibowu Hall of the Government House in Ado Ekiti, the Labour leaders promised to continue to support the governor in the realisation of his lofty policies and programmes aimed at achieving his shared prosperity agenda.

    In their separate remarks, the Chairman of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC),, Comrade Kolapo Olatunde,, Chairman of Trade Union Congress (TUC), Comrade Sola Adigun, and Chairman of Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Oluseye Babatunde, commended the governor for prioritising the welfare of workers, which include timely payment of salaries, clearing of over nine months salary arrears and leave bonuses, prompt payment of pension and gratuity, payment of financial benefits tied to promotions, approval of promotions up to date, increment of car and housing loans as well as approval and payment of one of the best minimum wage table in the country, thereby setting a benchmark for other states.

    According to them, the payment of the N70,000 minimum wage, among other gesture of the governor, underscore his understanding of the economic realities facing workers and his dedication to alleviating their burdens.

    The labour leaders said it was the first time since the state was created that workers got what was due to them without agitation and confrontation, adding that the governor’s policies have not only elevated workers’ welfare, but have  also transformed Ekiti into a model of sustainable development.

    Describing the governor as God sent and answer to Ekiti workers’ prayers, the union leaders said: “When people say this has not been done, that has not been done, I smile and say you don’t know the kind of leadership we have in Ekiti State, all the workers agenda is on the governor’s table and he goes through it every day.

    “Your Excellency thank you for the minimum wage you approved. My colleagues and I will recall when negotiating for N13,000 minimum wage, it was returned to us for negotiation more than three times, and after a year it was given approval, but lo and behold when we were dealing with this N70,000 minimum wage and I saw what was there, I told the panel that my people would rejoice when this would be signed and it didn’t  take long for you to approve. Thank you, Mr Governor for making us proud.”.

    The Head of Service, Dr (Mrs) Folakemi Olomojobi, lauded the governor for his exceptional dedication to workers’ welfare, disclosing that in the last 12 months, the governor approved over N30 million to address health challenges faced by public servants, the gesture, which according to her, demonstrated his genuine concern for the well-being of the workforce.

    The Special Assistant on Labour Matters, Comrade Kayode Fatomiluyi, appreciated the governor for not disappointing the workforce by fulfilling all the promises he made to them during electioneering campaign

    Responding, Governor Oyebanji, who expressed his gratitude to the union leaders for what he described as an uncommon gesture for labour leaders to speak of a government in such manner, said appreciation should go to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu whose visionary reforms had freed resources that significantly empowered the state to address pressing needs and deliver impactful projects that improved the lives of the people.

    The leadership of Labour Unions in Ekiti state has endorsed Governor Biodun Oyebanji for a second term in office, citing his exceptional commitment to workers’ welfare and all round development of the state for their decision. 

    Speaking at a Labour Round Table Meeting with the Governor at Lady Jibowu Hall of the Government House in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday evening, the labour leaders also vowed to continue to support the governor in the realization of all his lofty policies and programmes aimed at achieving his shared prosperity agenda with a promise not to allow miscreant disrupt the pace of progress recorded under his leadership. 

    In separate remarks, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Kolapo Olatunde; his Trade Union Congress (TUC) counterpart, Comrade Sola Adigun; and the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) leader, Comrade Oluseye Babatunde, lauded the governor for consistently prioritising workers’ needs.

    They highlighted several achievements including the prompt payment of salaries, clearing of over nine months’ salary arrears and leave bonuses, timely disbursement of pensions and gratuities, settlement of promotion-related financial entitlements, and the approval of regular promotions. 

    They also praised the increment of car and housing loans and the adoption of one of the best minimum wage structures in the country.

    According to the labour leaders, the recent implementation of a ₦70,000 minimum wage reflects the governor’s awareness of the economic challenges facing workers and his resolve to ease their burdens.

    They noted that, for the first time since the state’s creation, workers have received their entitlements without resorting to strikes or protests, crediting the governor’s worker-friendly policies with not only improving labour conditions but also positioning Ekiti as a model of sustainable development.

    While describing the Governor as God sent and answer to Ekiti workers prayers, the Union Leaders said, “When people say this has not been done, that has not been done, I smile and say you don’t know the kind of leadership we have in Ekiti State, all the workers agenda is on the Governor’s table and he go through it every day. 

    “Your Excellency thank you for the minimum wage you approved, I and my colleagues will recall when negotiating for N13,000 minimum wage, it was returned to us for negotiation more than three times and after a year it was given approval but lo and behold when we were dealing with this N70,000 minimum wage and I saw what was there, I told the panel that my people will rejoice when this would be signed and it didn’t take long for you to approve. Thank you, Mr Governor for making us proud”.

    Also in her remarks, the Head of Service, Dr (Mrs) Folakemi Olomojobi lauded the Governor for his exceptional dedication to workers’ welfare, disclosing that in the last 12 months, the governor approved over 30 million naira to address health challenges faced by public servants, the gesture, which according to her, demonstrated his genuine concern for the well-being of the workforce.

    Also speaking, the Special Assistant on Labour Matters, Comrade Kayode Fatomiluyi appreciated the Governor for not disappointing the workforce by fulfilling all the promises he made to them during electioneering campaign

    Responding, Governor Oyebanji, who expressed his gratitude to the Union leaders for what he described as an uncommon gesture for labour leaders to speak of a government in such manner, said appreciation should go to President Bola Ahmed Tunubu whose visionary reforms have freed resources that significantly empowered the state to address pressing needs and deliver impactful projects that improve the lives of the people.

    “Let me start on the note appreciation to you, I became afraid that look, this is an uncommon phenomenon, if not for God’s grace, for labour leaders to come out publicly and speak of a government in this manner and I was asking for God’s help so that I don’t disappoint you.

    “But in fairness, apart from God, the person we need to thank is the President, because no matter how good intentioned a leader is, if you don’t have the resources, it’s only going to be a wish, but the president has taken a lot of courageous steps that has freed resources to the state, and I told myself that if this kind of money is coming to Ekiti state, we must spend it in a way and manner that those in government will be happy and those outside government will also be happy”, he added.

    Governor Abiodun Oyebanji has received the newly inaugurated Global President of the Ekiti State University (EKSU), Alumni Association, Amb. Seyi Idowu with his team during a courtesy visit at his office.

    The Governor expressed gratitude for the alumni association’s unwavering support throughout his election campaign and commended Engr. Dipo Bamisaye for his contributions.

    He reaffirmed confidence in the leadership abilities of the new Global President and pledged his full support for all the outlined initiatives. 

    He assured the association of his commitment to the professorial visits and mentorship program and even expressed his personal readiness to participate in mentoring the undergraduates.

    Oyebanji in response to the request for a new bus by EKSU alumni pledged to personally procure the vehicle immediately to facilitate the smooth running of the alumni association. 

    He also assured his full backing for the proposed construction of an Alumni Centre, reinforcing his dedication to the advancement of the university and its alumni network.

    Oyebanji further emphasised that Ekiti State University currently boasts of a strong management team, a competent council, an excellent Vice Chancellor, and a vibrant alumni body, a combination that has earned EKSU the title of the Best State University in Nigeria.

    He also revealed that an anonymous alumnus is financing the construction of a faculty building while the Ekiti State Government has finalised plans to construct the Faculty of Pharmacy in the university.

    Idowu expressed gratitude to God for the privilege to serve in this capacity, thanking Oyebanji for his unwavering commitment to good governance in Ekiti State and lauded Asiwaju Adetuberu for his exemplary leadership within the alumni association over the years.

    The Global President also recognised contributions of his predecessor, Engineer Dipo Bamisaye, for his dedication and the milestones achieved during his tenure as the immediate past Global President.

    Taking a trip down memory lane, the Global President highlighted the Governor’s significant role in the creation of Ekiti State, noting that Governor Oyebanji, as the youngest and secretary of the committee that worked for the creation of Ekiti State, had now risen to lead the state as its Governor, a testimony of dedication and service.

    The President acknowledged the ongoing reconstruction of the House of Assembly complex, emphasizing the pride in having an alumnus as the Speaker of the House. 

    He also appreciated the Governor for appointing several alumni members to key positions in his administration.

    While assuring the Governor of the alumni association’s commitment to partnering with relevant stakeholders in advancing the digitization of the University, Ambassador Idowu commended the Governor for being a worthy ambassador of the institution.

    He reiterated the alumni body’s resolve to support the administration’s development agenda.

    The Global President outlined the strategic initiatives of the new alumni leadership, which include digitization of transcript processing to ensure efficiency and ease of access for graduates, and Professorial visits and mentorship programs for undergraduates to enhance academic excellence and career development.

    Others are: joint award of degrees in Artificial Intelligence through a partnership between a UK-based university and EKSU, expansion of Prize Endowment programs, with an emphasis on increasing capital investment to drive innovation and research within the university.

    The meeting was a testament to the strong ties between the Ekiti State Government and the alumni body, signaling a renewed commitment to the growth and progress of Ekiti State University.

    Some traditional rulers in Ekiti State, under the aegis of Majority Obas of Ekiti Land (MOBEL), have thrown their weight behind the second term bid of Governor Biodun Oyebanji, assuring him of support.

    MOBEL, led by its Chairman and the Ojurin of Ijurin-Ekiti, Oba Afolabi Ajibola, spoke yesterday in Ado-Ekiti during a visit to the Deputy Governor, Mrs Monisade Afuye.

    Oba Ajibola said the traditional rulers predicated their support on the level of peace, development, stability and mutual respect being accorded Ekiti people, including all the traditional rulers by the governor.

    He says these have endeared the government to the populace and critical stakeholders.

    Also speaking, the Onikun of Ikun Amure Ekiti, Oba David Olatunde, promised that MOBEL, comprising grades A, B and C traditional ruler, would coalesce actions with government to ensure peace and stability in their domains.

    Oba Olatunde says what MOBEL stands for is progress, unity and love among Ekiti residents, promising that these shall be fostered in the interest of the citizens.
