Pastor arraigned for alleged forgery, impersonation

A pastor with a popular Pentecostal church, Mr. Leslie Victor Michael-Atata, has been arraigned before a Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos for alleged fraudulent misrepresentation.

Arraigned alongside the pastor, who is also a lawyer, is a limited liability company, Viktor AG. Ltd.

The defendants were arraigned before Justice Ibrahim Kala on a three-count charge of forgery, impersonation and misrepresentation.

The arraignment of defendants was sequel to a criminal complaint forwarded to the police by the law firm of Legal Answers LLP on behalf of the complainant, Feljohn Nigeria Limited.

It was alleged that the 1st defendant, Leslie Victor Michael-Atata, fraudulently converted No. 1 Kaduna Street, D/Line, Port Harcourt, a property sold to Baldwyne Holdings Limited by Feljohn Nigeria Limited.

It was averred that although he was aware of the sale, he “capitalised on his privileged position as complainant legal practitioner and secretary and began to covet and lay claims on the same property by fraudulently obtaining a sublease of the property using his company Viktor AG Limited.”

During the arraignment of the defendants, Mr. James Ordu, their counsel, raised an objection to the jurisdiction of the court, arguing that the transaction took place in Port Harcourt where the parties resided.

He argued that the transaction between the parties had been determined by a competent court, adding that part of the judgment is now the subject of a pending appeal at the Court of Appeal.

He also contended that the Commissioner of Police had granted the 1st defendant an administrative bail which is still subsisting. He therefore urged the court to strike out the charge.

However Mr. Samuel Ogala, the Prosecutor, objected and argued that where a transaction has both civil and criminal elements, both the civil and criminal cases can be pursued simultaneously.

He contended that the complainant also lives in Lagos, adding that the alleged offences were committed in Nigeria as per the wording of the charge.

He also stated that he was duly mandated by his office to prosecute the defendants, adding that the issue of jurisdiction does not arise as the police has unlimited jurisdiction pursuant to Section 214 of the 1999 Constitution and Sections 4 and 66 of the Police Act 2020.

In his ruling, the presiding judge, Justice Ibrahim Kala, held as follows: “I have looked into the three-count charge levelled against the defendants.

“It relates to conspiracy, impersonation and fraudulent misrepresentation.

“It is nowhere stated in the counts where these alleged offences occurred.

“Besides, they are offences charged under the provision of the Criminal Code Act, LFN, 2004 as well as Miscellaneous Offences Act, Cap M17, LFN, 2004.

“These are provisions that are not peculiar to any particular state.

“I therefore overrule the defendant’s argument on that point.”

The court then ordered that the charge be read to the defendants. The duo pleaded not guilty.

Ogala applied that the 1st defendant should be remanded in prison custody while Ordu objected to the request of the prosecution and urged the court to grant the defendant bail.

He said: “The 1st Defendant has a pedigree as a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) of over 40 years.”

He also contended that the 1st defendant has medical conditions warranting the bail.

The trial judge, Justice Kala, said he had considered that the 1st defendant is “a senior member of the (legal) profession” and granted him bail in the sum of N50 million with one surety in like sum.”

He added: “The surety shall have ownership of landed property in either Lagos or Ogun State worth N50 million which title document must be deposited at the registry of the court or shall surrender the qualifying and Call to Bar Original Certificates to the registry of the court.”

Justice Kala also ordered: “The two recent passport photos, BVN, NIN, phone numbers of 1st Defendant as well as the surety should be deposited at the registry of the court after being duly verified by Registrars of this court in conjunction with the agent of prosecution.”

Thereafter, Justice Kala adjourned to February 20, 2025 for trial of the defendants to commence.

Pastor allegedly defiles teenager, procures abortion

A 55-year-old Pastor of the Deeper Life Bible Church and school principal, Mr. Adetunji Obatayo,  has been remanded to prison custody for allegedly defiling a minor.

His victim, a 14-year-old student, got pregnant and he procured abortion for her.

Obatayo was arraigned before an Akure Magistrates’ Family Court on three counts charge of defilement, unlawfully prescribing drugs to procure abortion thereby killing an unborn child.

His pleas, were however, not taken.

He was said to have committed the offence sometime in February 2020 at Epinmi-Akoko, Akoko South-East local government area.

Police prosecutor, Folashade Adesuyi, informed the court that the defendant forcefully had carnal knowledge of the victim.

The offences, according to the charge, contravened Sections 218, 230 and 328 of the Criminal Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

Adesuyi said that the victim’s confession led to the arrest of the defendant.

The victim, in her narration before the court, said she was  placed under the guardian of Pastor Obatala by her parents when she was 10 years.

She told the court that Pastor Obatayo has been having intercourse with her since then.

“Four years ago, my parents released me to live with a pastor due to his desire to train me. On my first day in his house, he forcefully had sexual intercourse with me and told me not to tell anyone about it.

“He had impregnated me thrice and he gave me N5,000 to buy some contraceptive drugs to abort the pregnancy after many preventive drugs.

” But during the third pregnancy, he refused to give me money for the drug, and I stole his money to buy the pills.

” Pastor later accused me of stealing his money for my boyfriend which led to the arrest of a boy in our school and I informed my parents about his ordeal.”

Presiding Magistrate, B.A. Alphonso, ordered the defendant remanded to the Olokuta Correctional Centre and directed the case file sent to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for advice.

The victim was ordered to be taken in for rehabilitation till further notice and the case was adjourned to August 29, this year, for mentioning.

    Good afternoon ma’am

I want to personally appreciate you for the speech you gave in my school; UNITY SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL AGEGE. I am the head girl you hugged. I have been trying all means to get through you, I even checked your books for any information but there wasn’t any. I was glad when I searched for APOSTLE OF CHASTITY ( I actually saw that printed on your clothes) and your name popped up. I appreciate your efforts in raising spiritually filled, physically cleansed girls who will stay undefiled till their wedding night. I love every bit of all you said that day, it made me seek God’s face more, I became emotionally strong where I can’t easily fall into the distractor’s hands – BOYFRIEND. I’ve read two of your books – BECOMING AN ALPHA FEMALE and LETTERS TO MY DAUGHTER, I can’t wait to start reading WISDOM FOR GIRLS, it’s so unfortunate that I won’t be able to read THE BEAUTY OF LIFE; which is your first book, I guess and LIFE NUGGETS FOR GIRLS.

You are a strong feminist. If we have people like you in the society, I bet our world won’t be totally depraved as you do say.  Thank you so much for everything you’ve done in the lives of many females.

I pray that the good God continues to bless and keep you. The lord will shine his face upon you lest any evil befall you. I’m so happy for the enlightenment I’ve received. I pray the Lord clothe you with goodness, crown you with excellence and wrap you in the mighty shadow of His wings. God bless you continually ma.

Thank you ma’am, Barr. Temilolu Oluwakemi Okeowo

    My darlings,

Last Sunday, I published the letters of 2 ladies whose suitors who are pastors want sex before marriage and I opined that NO TRUE PASTOR WOULD ASK YOU FOR SEX BEFORE MARRIAGE!  You may wish to Google the article and read!

It would interest you to know there are more occult masters parading themselves as pastors than the genuinely-called! And even those called by God can be used by the devil too! A good number of ladies have confessed how a strange spirit came over them in one particular church such that whenever they saw their pastor, they’d be sexually-aroused till he slept with them! According to them, this same pastor hypnotised 3 of his choristers and raped them countless times and even in their dreams!!! Yet they couldn’t speak out until he emptied them of their virtues- two of them even aborted pregnancies for him! I cringe when I see the way the general public idolizes this guy! What a pity! This is a very serious matter!

Parents…parents…parents….beg your girls to stop looking for pastors up and down! Don’t let them dash away what should give them a fulfilled life, announce them in the world some day and give you a life you can never dream of! More and more destiny devourers are arising daily! MAY THEY NOT TURN YOUR DAUGHTERS/TREASURES TO SPIRITUAL IMBECILES! So many victims have been sucked dry- no jobs, no money, no suitors etc. Just existing in cyclic problems, while the so-called pastor is enjoying their virtues!  Very very sad! I won’t say or write what I’m not sure of!

Girls…girls…girls, may you never encounter evil men who will hypnotize you, suck you dry, body, soul and spirit and then tell the world you want to destroy their ministry! Yes! If you’re bold enough to speak out and not strongly backed by God, our sick world would turn you to the predator and victimize you, so be careful in your dealings with these men and ACQUAINT YOURSELF WITH GOD! If as a born-again Christian, you still can’t hear from God, I’m sorry you aren’t a serious Christian! There’s nothing wrong in having a pastor as your father-figure whose teachings/anointing can assist you in life, but be too sure of and too careful with who you’re dealing with! MAY ALL GOD HAS GIVEN YOU TO SHINE IN LIFE NOT BE STOLEN IN ONE FELL SWOOP IN JESUS MIGHTY NAME! Girls…girls…girls…..!

    FINAL WORD

Chastity does not belong to the past. It saves you a lot of trouble, preserves your beautiful destiny and stands you out from the crowd. You are better off not engaging in pre-marital and extra-marital sex. Stay chaste!

  • ‘How pastor impregnated me, aborted my planned marriage’

‘How pastor impregnated me, aborted my planned marriage’

•Says she has no regrets helping man of God starved of sex by wife

Life, they say, is never a bed of roses but a journey full of ups and downs. That much is the story of Esther Nanu, a young girl from Awe Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, who has had her good times but currently faces serious life challenges.

Esther allegedly suffered sexual exploitation from no less a figure than a former pastor of her New Vision Church who, rather than take responsibility for his action, decided to force the baby on another man.

Esther has been left at the receiving end of the intrigue as her planned marriage was aborted by the errant pastor who did not only deflower her but also put her in the family way.

The baby boy from the pregnancy, according to her, is now approaching age seven and would not stop asking for his father. Esther is also under pressure from her father to trace the parents or native community of the man responsible for her pregnancy. Unfortunately, she had lied to her parents that an army officer was responsible for the pregnancy and had been killed in Maiduguri, Borno State while fighting against Boko Haram.

She said: “I had lied to my parents that it was an army officer that impregnated me and that he was killed by Boko Haram when he was transferred to Maiduguri.

“I lied to my parents that I met the soldier that impregnated me in Keffi but few months after our relationship, he was transferred to Maiduguri where he was eventually killed by Boko Haram.

“But in actual sense, it was my pastor who impregnated me and he is the biological father of my baby boy”. She said.

Our correspondent gathered there was a plan by the said pastor to take custody of the boy under the pretext of adoption so that his wife would not know the truth. But Esther’s parents are said not to be comfortable with the arrangement.

Esther said: “My pastor impregnated me. I have a child for him which people are not aware of. I lied that the man who impregnated me died in Maiduguri fighting Boko Haram, just to make my family stop inquiring about the baby’s father.

“But my pastor is the real father of my baby. He is married with five kids, all girls, while I have a son for him.”

    ‘How we fell in love’

Asked how the relationship started, Esther, a resident of Masaka in Karu Local Government Area, who accused the pastor of turning her into a sex object and warned her never to tell even her closest friend about it, said she had attended the church while the said pastor was in charge.

She said: “Some time in 2016, he approached me with a lustful look, but I told him I was in a relationship and was about to wed. Although my husband to be was a Catholic, every arrangement had been perfected and I was preparing to swift over to join him in the Catholic to commence the wedding process.

But the pastor insisted and I accepted. It was actually difficult for me to understand my decision

“Our first day together was in a hotel in Keffi. He had gone there to book a room before I came, and had earlier that day took me to do some shopping.

“So when I came, he started touching me, and in no time, he pulled my clothes off, and I was already weak because of the shopping we had earlier gone to do.

“Before I realized what was going on, he had started sleeping with me without any protection.

“As time went on, he was creating time for us to meet in one of the hotels in Keffi. And because I schooled in Keffi, I normally told my husband to be that I was trying to assemble some old friends/mates to form committees for the planned wedding.

“We regularly met in Keffi and spent quality time together while my husband to be was working in a private company in Abuja, which was taking much of his time.

“My husband to be was not too good in bed but the pastor was excellent, so I always enjoyed our stay together. That was my biggest attraction to him as against my proposed husband.”

According to her, when the pressure became too much from her parents, she had to confess that there was nothing like an army officer anywhere but Pastor Joseph who impregnated her.

“When my father confronted the pastor, he was ashamed so he moved his family and vanished to an unknown destination. All his telephone lines, she said, were switched off.

“He sold the house where he was staying and left me with the boy while an assistant pastor took over the running of the church. Pastor Joseph is from Osun State, but I have never been there. He has left me with this boy to suffer alone”

Esther added: “I understand that as human beings, we cannot cheat nature. I’m one of the committee members of the church and I do participate actively in the church choir.

“There was this magnet that pulled the pastor and I together. It was like a force.

“One day, he explained to me in the most pathetic way how his wife had starved him of sex for months for reasons he did not consider genuine. So I actually wanted to fill the gap because I am naturally an emotional and considerate person.

“I am very sure that God would not judge me negatively because of my gesture and for yielding to the pastor’s request. I only tried to satisfy a man who was in dire need.

“He was been starved of sex by his wife so I had to leave spirituality behind to get him satisfied, and that led to him impregnating me.

“It all started like a Hollywood movie. The scenes reeled from one point to the other and we had fun in different hotels on regular basis.

“He confessed that I made him feel like a man, and I was proud of myself. Even my proposed husband found it difficult to understand the relationship, because the man is a pastor and no one would suspect that any dirty romance was going on between us.

“When he openly told me that I made him happy, I comforted myself that if I could satisfy another man, then I could satisfy my proposed husband even though he was not as good in bed as the pastor.

“I was not actually patronising my action, but only being responsible about some sensitive sexual matters. Yes, we did and continued until he got me pregnant. My proposed husband suspected and aborted our planned marriage.

“My affair with the pastor remained a secret until he got me pregnant. I requested an abortion, but to my surprise, he declined my suggestion and wanted me to keep the baby.

“I had my reasons for not wanting to keep the baby. The pastor would not marry me while I already had a man who was waiting to marry me.

“We had actually done the introduction and commenced the process for the pride price and wedding when I got pregnant.

“I did not want to jeopardise my dream marriage to my proposed husband who had already commenced preparation at that time, which is why I insisted that I must get rid of the baby.

“But the pastor insisted that his spirit told him the baby would be a boy, and since he only had five girls with his wife, he begged me and I eventually agreed to keep the pregnancy.

“After about nine months, I was delivered of a baby boy and he was happy and still happy that at least the baby boy he had waited for endlessly had become a reality as God finally opened the door through me.”

Asked what their relationship is at the moment, she said: “We still see and have sex. I don’t have feelings for any other man.

“I don’t know what to do. I know we cannot get married because of his position, but my child refers to him as Daddy because that is what we normally call him, and he told his wife that he wants to adopt my son, while my parents want to know the origin of the said army officer so that the man’s family would know that their late son had a son somewhere.

“I am making this revelation not because I completely regret my action of taking full control of a married pastor, but because I have sensed something that is really not going to work for me and the boy in the most positive way.”

Asked why there was no effort between him and the pastor to engage in protected sex, Esther said: “My pastor kept having sex with me without using condom, which resulted into pregnancy. He warned me not to abort it; that his spirit told him it would be a baby boy and he would take full responsibility of the child

“Initially, I didn’t see anything wrong in opening my legs for a pastor who is married with five kids, all girls, because he too is a human being and he has feelings just like any other person.

“Besides there are many cases of pastors ‘toasting’ girls, but I didn’t envisage that the matter would get to this point and turn out like I am hiding the identity of the biological father of my son from my parents.

“But my pastor actually slept with me many times and got me pregnant.

“Despite the fact that the pastor knew that I was preparing for wedding, he insisted on not taking a “no” for an answer. I bought several condoms but he refused to use them until he got me pregnant.”

    Pending marriage aborted

Esther expressed disappointment that her pregnancy occurred at the point she was going to get married “and me and my proposed husband were preparing to get our wedding set.

“Suddenly, pregnancy occurred, and I shielded the pastor and blamed it on a non-existent army officer.

“The man who was ready to marry me felt disappointed and left, and I later told my parents that Boko Haram killed the army officer.

Efforts made by our correspondent to reach Pastor Joseph for comments failed as the phone number given to him failed to go through.

Our correspondent, however, met Esther’s father, a retired railway worker, in Lafia, and he said he needed to set the records straight.

He said: “My daughter initially told me that the person that impregnated her was an army officer. I wanted to know the village and state of the said officer, because if you go to the Army Headquarters, you only need to mention his name and when he was transferred to Maiduguri. The records would be there.

“But after much pressure, she changed the narrative and told us it was Pastor Joseph. I went there myself and sought an audience with him. But when I confronted him with it the situation, he denied it; that he would not do a thing like that.

“He was probably afraid that I would expose him and he would be put to shame. He quickly left after selling his property.

“It is actually not a media thing, I will take up the matter with the church, I will get the police involved through a lawyer before I declare him wanted eventually.”

Esther told our correspondent that she never knew that the man would run away and leave her and the boy behind.

“Now his number is not going through. I regret sleeping with my pastor. He has ruined my life by getting me pregnant and disappearing when my father confronted him.”

Justice Modupe Osho-Adebiyi gave the order shortly after Ogbede was arraigned on a three-count charge filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Justice Osho-Adebiyi ordered that Ogbede be kept in prison until he meets the conditions attached to the bail granted him.

Ogbede, the director of Alidenco Systems Nigeria Ltd, was arraigned for allegedly defrauding Maje Umar Nafiu of Maje Investment and Construction Company Ltd to the tune of N35million in land acquisition in 2009.

Imo said the defendant is a religious leader and also has a pending civil suit in court, challenging the refund of the N35million.

The judge said the sureties must be civil servants, one which must be of the rank not less than Grade Level 14, with landed properties in the FCT.

  • My pastor sexually harassed me, alleges teenager

A 17-year-old girl has narrated how the resident pastor of a Pentecostal church in Edo State allegedly introduced her to alcohol and had sex with her several times.

The teenager, who spoke to reporters in Benin City, said the cleric had sex with her in her father’s house and at hotels.

She was in tears as she narrated how the affair began last September shortly after she finished her secondary school education.

Stating the reasons for opening up on the love affair, she said she wanted to leave the state for lack of concentration, adding that she wanted the pastor to be jailed.

The girl said: “The pastor used to advise me to stay away from boys, live a good life and respect my parents. I regarded him as my father. I trusted him and confided in him.

“That was how he started calling me, talking to me till it got to a time he told me that he liked me. I took it as a normal thing. He started taking advantage of me. He showed me things I had not seen before and took me to places I had never been to. That was how it started. He was the first person to show me a condom. He taught me how to drink alcohol.

“He told me not to tell my parents. He said they would understand what he was doing.   He slept with me many times, even in our house, whenever my parents were not around.

“Thinking about the affair has affected me psychologically. I cannot read again. The whole thing is disturbing me. When I told his wife, she said I was lying and told me to come to their house and repeat it before her husband.

“I want the pastor to be jailed. I’m always shocked anytime I am in church and see him preaching. I was initially afraid of telling my mother about the affair I had with him.”

The victim’s father, who is the board chairman of the church, said he was shocked that a pastor he trusted could defile his only daughter.

  • ‘Pastor’ held for sodomising, prostituting underage boys

Three months after he was declared wanted, a self acclaimed pastor, Prince Chizemdere Ezuma has been arrested by the police in Lagos for allegedly sodomising, prostituting and infecting underage boys with HIV virus.

Ezuma, the founder of Jesus Intervention Household Ministry in Ejigbo was arrested at his residence after an informant notified the police he had resurfaced.

It was gathered that the suspect climbed his ceiling where he hid for over two hours to evade arrest when detectives from Ejigbo Division stormed his home few days ago.

He was however forced out of the ceiling after the policemen that went called for reinforcement in order to drag him out of his hiding place.

Ezuma was declared wanted after an alleged male prostitute Prince Chinecherem was arrested and charged to court after a 16-year-old victim Anthony Ikem made revelations that implicated them.

Ikem, who was found sneaking out of the suspect’s home with a polythene bag containing used condoms and other items, was accosted by neighbours and he confessed he was one of several sex partners of the pastor.

Ikem, according to the police, also confirmed that the Ezuma usually gave them to service some of his male clients including VIPs.

On the strength of his confessions, the teenager was taken to the hospital for checks and it was discovered he was HIV positive, a status Ezuma was alleged to have lived with for over three years.

It was gathered that some residents of the community were worried he was corrupting their male children and initiating them into the club, hence, their keen interest to see that he was arrested and prosecuted.

Findings by our Correspondent revealed that Ezuma was moved to the Gender Section at the Police Command Ikeja yesterday afternoon, following pressure from certain quarters in the division to release him.

In his confessional statement to the police, Ezuma claimed he usually paid the boys N2,000 for sex,

“He has been on the run for about three months while concerted effort was put in place towards tracking him down. On March 21, around 1am, information was received that he had sneaked back into his compound. The reverend was eventually apprehended after he hid himself in the ceiling for two hours immediately he sighted the police.

“Reinforcement was requested and he was brought down from the ceiling. Investigation showed that he brought about 15 boys into his apartment where he forcefully penetrated them all through the anus.

“There is information that he used to wash like six bedsheets daily whenever he brought in young children suspected to be his sex partners.

“The reverend confirmed he was HIV positive and has been receiving treatment for over three years. So, he knew he was HIV positive and still infected his victims and clients with it,” said a source.

Police said Pastor Ekene ‘charmed’ and had sex with 17- year- old Miracle in December 2018.

Pastor Ekene was arrested after one Henry Aikhuaman reported that Miracle was missing.

It was gathered that Miracle was later found on a sick bed at Graceville Medical Centre along Ewah Road in Bénin City.

Doctors at the hospital were said to have told detectives that Miracle was brought in by one Happy Johnson, a deaconess in Pastor Ekene’s Church.

Speaking to newsmen at the police headquarters, Happy said it was Pastor Ekene that told her to procure the abortion for Miracle.

Pastor Ekene on his part described Miracle as one of his daughters in his church.

“Last year, I had an extramarital affair with her in August. She came to me this year that she was pregnant. I asked my member here to take her to the hospital. She was taking some drugs to remove the pregnancy. The baby died in her womb. The doctors did surgery on her because she was having appendicitis. The hospital asked me to pay N380,000 and I have paid N150,000 before I was arrested. She did not die.

“These charms were items returned by people I prayed for through deliverance. Some are also for me. I also do spiritual work. I have anti-poison and others.”

Edo Police Commissioner, Mr Muhammed Dan Mallam, said the pastor and his accomplice would soon be charged to court.
