    Pasuma dedicates new home to late mother on posthumous birthday

    Renowned Fuji musician Pasuma has dedicated a new home to his late mother on what would have been her birthday.

    In a heartfelt gesture, he shared a clip of his new house, stating that his mother’s love continues to be a constant light in his life.

    He wished her a happy birthday in heaven, describing the home as a celebration of her memory.

    “To my dearest mother, your love remains a constant light in my life. Wishing you the happiest birthday in heaven, IYAMI CELEBRATING YOUR BIRTHDAY WITH A NEW HOME,” he wrote on Instagram.

    This emotional tribute comes after Pasuma lost his beloved mother in April 2023.

    The news of her passing had sparked an outpouring of condolences from fans, fellow artists, and friends in the entertainment industry.

    Many Nollywood stars paid their respects, visiting Pasuma at his home to offer their sympathies.

    Fuji singer Pasuma has addressed the recent attack on his convoy in Ikire, Osun State, describing the incident as the work of a few unruly elements among his fans.

    In a video message, Pasuma explained that the chaos erupted during a performance in Ikire, where a massive crowd gathered to see him. 

    Despite arrangements made for fans outside the venue, including a screen TV to view the show, he said some insisted on entering the already packed hall.

    According to him, when security personnel blocked the entrance to maintain order, a group of thugs among the crowd began hurling stones, damaging his car and hummer bus.

    Pasuma was quick to clarify that no gunshots were fired during the incident, contrary to earlier reports.

    He blamed the disruption on “bad boys” among the fans but expressed appreciation for his loyal supporters in Ikire, stressing that the unfortunate event should not overshadow their love for his music.

    “About what happened in Ikire, I have so many committed fans in Ikire, but there’s no town without such elements (thugs).

    “The person who invited me to perform at a hall in Ikire, but the crowd was more than half of the whole town. They all came out to see me physically. Because of the large numbers of the crowd, a screen TV was provided outside the hall but they refused to watch on the screen.

    “And when the security prevented them from entering, the bad boys among them started stoning. It was the stone that broke my car’s windscreen of my hilux and hummer bus. There was no shooting”, Pasuma clarified.

    The rift between two fuji music stars — Wasiu Alabi Pasuma and his former protégé, Alhaji Taye Akande Adebisi (popularly known as Taye Currency)- has been settled.

    The duo, The Nation learnt, met in Mecca at the ongoing Umrah 2025.

    In the now-viral video obtained by The Nation, the Fuji music stars were seen sitting closely, engaging in a discussion.

    Supporters of the musicians confirmed the settlement of rift.

    What was once a mentor-protégé relationship devolved into rift last year with both parties throwing subtle and overt jabs at each other.

    In October 2024, Taye Currency disapproved of fans referring to Pasuma as his ‘father’ in the music industry.

    The Ibadan-born singer stated that Pasuma is more like an elder brother to him and emphasised that he can’t father him.

    Taye Currency’s remarks ignited a flurry of online discussions, with Pasuma’s fans criticising him for the comments.

    In response to the backlash, Taye Currency, in a viral video, said his words were misinterpreted and expressed regret for any offence caused by his remarks.

    He apologised to Pasuma and anyone hurt by his statements regarding the 56-year-old artist.

    He acknowledged the ‘Recognition’ hitmaker as his superior, emphasising that he never insulted him.

    He affirmed respect for Pasuma and commitment to him.

    Ibadan-based Fuji music singer, Taiye Currency was missing in action as Wasiu Alabi Pasuma and Saheed Osupa finally shared the stage for a duet.

    After years of rivalry and supremacy battles, the two musicians took a moment to entertained guests during Pasuma’s 40 years on stage ceremony held at the Sheraton Balmoral Hall in Ikeja, Lagos.

    The historic night turned out to be a reunion party as other Fuji artistes also joined the collaboration session. Some of the notable Fuji stars who shared the microphone together at the show include Sule Alao Malaika, Sefiu Alao, Rasheed Ayinde Merenge, Remi Aluko, Tope Nautical, and Tiri Leather.

    However, Taye Currency was nowhere to be found.

    For decades, the rivalry between Pasuma and Osupa divided the Fuji music scene, with their fans often engaging in heated clashes, both on social media and hybrid events.

    Though the due were childhood friends, but their feud rises as fame shines on them. They dominated the Fuji music landscape for years, with both throwing lyrical jabs at each other in their songs. Their fierce competition, however, boosted record sales and show attendance, as acknowledged by Fuji music promoters and marketers.

    This newfound harmony has been celebrated as a positive step towards uniting Fuji music lovers and restoring peace to the genre’s fanbase.

    The simmering tension between Fuji stars Wasiu Alabi Pasuma and Taye Adebisi Currency, took a peaceful turn after the intervention of Fuji legends, Kolawole Ayinla aka  Kollington, and Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, K1.

    The dispute began when Taye Currency reportedly remarked that Pasuma had imitated the style of their fellow Fuji artiste, Obesere, in the early days of his career.

    Currency, feeling slighted by being labelled ‘Pasuma’s son,’ expressed frustrations over the perceived lack of respect he received within the Fuji community due to his loyalty to Pasuma.

    During a live show, Currency voiced his grievances, saying, “Pasuma can’t give birth to someone my age, I can only be his younger brother. He is my boss, and I’m loyal to him, but he can’t be a father to me.”

    Currency further reiterated that he was born in 1975, and had been associated with Pasuma since 1993. “Some people use this as a reason to disrespect me,” he added, emphasising that his loyalty should not diminish the respect he’s due.

    Pasuma, feeling the sting of Currency’s words, responded, expressing disappointment over what he perceived as ingratitude from his protégé. The exchange between the two threatened to escalate further, drawing attention from fans and industry stakeholders alike.

    Realising the potential for discord, Kollington and K1 stepped in, urging both artistes to put the matter to rest. They advised Currency to apologise to Pasuma publicly, reminding them of the importance of unity in the Fuji music community.

    Heeding their guidance, Currency publicly apologised to Pasuma during a live performance, acknowledging Pasuma as his boss and reaffirming his respect for him.

    Pasuma, in turn, addressed his fans, confirming that the rift was resolved. “My bosses in the game have called and asked me to stop the fight for peace to reign, and I have listened to them. Thank you, sir, Kollington Ayinla and K1,” he said during his live show, expressing gratitude to the Fuji legends for their timely intervention.

    With the public apologies and mutual respect restored, Pasuma and Taye Currency have now turned a new page, crediting Kollington and K1 for helping them preserve unity in the Fuji music scene.

    Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, the renowned Lagos-based Fuji legend, seemed to have indirectly addressed the ongoing issue between himself and protégé, Taye Currency, during a recent show in Oluyole, Ibadan, Oyo State.

    Pasuma, who had remained silent since the controversial statement by Currency went viral, took the opportunity during a live performance to express his thoughts through a metaphorical storyline. 

    He recounted a tale of a cat and its owner, where the owner, despite feeding the cat, was scratched by it in return.

     Although Pasuma did not directly mention Currency’s name, the audience easily decoded the message.

    Ijoba Fuji, as Pasuma is fondly called, explained that while he wouldn’t discard the cat, he would distance himself from it to avoid further scratches.

    He cautioned his drummer against playing insulting sounds, noting that some people could interpret their meanings. 

    Pasuma emphasized his preference for expressing himself using Yoruba theology.

    During a performance, Taye Currency sparked backlash on social media by stating that Pasuma is like an elder brother rather than a father in the industry.

    In a viral video, Taye Currency clarified his remarks, expressing regret for any offense caused and emphasising his loyalty and respect for Pasuma.

    He acknowledged Pasuma’s influence on his career and sought to reassure fans of their united front in the Fuji music scene.

    Taye Currency’s apology comes after he was criticised for his comment, with many interpreting it as disrespectful to Pasuma.

    In a new video, he said: “Good day, everyone. My name is Alhaji Taye Currency. Following the recent rumour on social media, I want to greet our people and those who love us, especially Pasuma’s supporters and the lovers of Fuji music in general.

    “People who misunderstood my comments should not be angry. I sincerely apologise for what happened because people interpret words differently, and that’s what I have come to understand.

    “Some individuals have misinterpreted my words as an insult to Pasuma, but I don’t see how anyone can point to anything I said as abusive. He is my boss. Arabanbi, Apesin, Oganla Fuji. We are one, so please don’t separate us.

    “Alhaji Alabi Pasuma is my boss. He knows I’m loyal to him. For it not to seem disrespectful, I apologise to Pasuma. You are an elder. To Pasuma’s fans club, I’m sorry; Taye Currency fans, one love. Alhaji Alao, please don’t be angry.”

    Popular Fuji musician Wasiu Alabi Pasuma has attended the graduation ceremony of his daughter, Aliyah Mofiyinfoluwa Odetola, in Chicago.

    Pasuma shared a video from the graduation on his Instagram account on Saturday, saying, “Haliamdulilahi Robin Al’amin, my daughter, Aliyah Mofiyinfoluwa Odetola, just graduated at University of Illinois Urbana Champagne Chicago with honours. Modupe Olohun Oba, anu nimori gba, kii shagbara.”

    Popular Fuji icon Wasiu Alabi aka Pasuma has narrated how painful it was losing his beloved mother.

    In an interactive session with Iyabo Ojo on the ‘Gold Room with Iyabo Ojo‘ podcast, Pasuma expressed the need to let go of his mother Alhaja Adijat Kuburat, saying that she has tried enough. 

    The legendary musician expressed genuine feelings about accepting his mother’s passing and how it has clearly created a big gap in his life.

    He spoke of the affection and attention he gave his mother in her last hours.

    He also recalled how his mother would often check on him, especially while he was away for concerts.

    Speaking on his strong relationship with his mother and how her death was inevitable, Pasuma said: “It has happened. There is nothing I can do about it. I love my mum. If I was asked to give anything in exchange for her life, I would have gladly done that. But that’s what God wanted so I have to let her go. She had suffered a lot. I did my best to take care of her. It’s not easy losing mum or someone close to your heart.

    “With a heavy heart, I’ve accepted her passing as God’s will. The pain she endured in her last days made it clear that letting her go was the kindest thing to do, despite how much it hurt.

    “I was by her side, cooking for her, ensuring she took her medication, and taking care of her personal needs. It was important for me to ensure she felt loved and cared for during those tough times.

    “Her constant calls to ensure I was safe and sound, her inability to sleep until I returned home, truly showed the depth of her love and concern for me. Now, I miss those calls, those check-ins that reminded me I was loved”.

    Sensational Fuji icon Wasiu Alabi aka Pasuma has opened up on his plans for marriage.

    The 55-year-old, expressed his intention to settle down following the one-year remembrance of his late mother, Alhaja Adijat Kuburat, who passed away in April, 2023.

    Pasuma spoke in an exclusive interview with Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo.

    During the interview, Ojo inquired, “When do you plan on getting married?”
