  • KSA, Obey, others for PMAN Governor’s double celebration

    Come next week Saturday, all roads will lead to Sango Ota, Ogun State, as the governor of Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN), Dr. Kareem Olomide Osoba, is set for the launch of his new album and the centenary birthday of his mother

    According to Osoba, the celebration which will hold on Saturday, June 30, at Fatlan Hotel and Suite, Ijako, Sango Ota will attract the creme de la creme in the entertainment industry.

    Among the artistes listed for the event include King Sunny Ade, Ebenezer Obey Fabiyi, Adewale Ayuba, Pasuma, Saheed Osupa, Lola Idije, Adebayo Salami, PMAN members across the country and Islamic singers.

    In the album titled ‘Great Mother’, Osoba revealed the battle fought by his mother to make him great in life.

    “She is a great mother indeed,” he said, adding: “My mother, Adijat Kuburat Oritoke Osoba, is a fantastic woman,the bond between the two of us is very difficult to understand, only God can reward her for what she has done in my life. If given the opportunity again in life, I will still prefer her as my mother.”

    Sensational singer, Taye Akande, popularly known as Taye Currency has pledged to put an end to the rivalry among two Fuji greats, Saheed Osupa and Wasiu Alabi Pasuma.

    The singer made this commitment while performing at the semifinals of the 2018 edition of ‘Ariya Repete’ at the National Stadium, Lagos last weekend.

    He said he has since adopted Fuji exponent Saheed Osupa as his father and Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, with whom Osupa is in contention, as his elder brother. He was also quoted as saying that he holds both as his mentors and so intends to put an end their rivalry.

    It will be recalled that Osupa and Pasuma have always been in contention over who deserves to be called the King of Fuji music, a title which the latter has always laid claims to. This claim has in the past pitched most of the Fuji musicians as well as their fans against one another.

    Meanwhile, it was a touching moment during the competition as Taiwo and Kehinde Alli, popularly called Twinzobia mounted the stage to perform. Before the performance, Taiwo made a remark that got emotions high and gave them lots of cheers from music fans at venue.

    Twinzobia shared a story on their career before winning the Goldberg Talent hunt in 2014 and the significant progress they have made since they won the competition.

    According to the multi-talented artists who sing Fuji and Juju with ease, winning the 2014 edition of #FujiToBam has impacted their lives in tremendous ways.

    The twins further said, winning 2014 edition was a most remarkable turning point in their lives.

    Ariya Repete is an annual talent hunt organised by Goldberg Lager Beer, the initiative seeks to discover young talents in the Yoruba traditional music including Fuji and Juju

    The grand finale of Ariya Repete 2018 is scheduled to hold at Trans Amusement Park, Ibadan, the Oyo State capital on Friday, May 11.

    Valentine: Pasuma to play at Badagry Beach

    Popular Fuji musician, Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, will on Friday perform for fans at the Badagry Beach, Lagos State in celebration of this year’s Valentine’s Day.

    Solomon Zosu, spokesman, Badagry West Local Council Development Area, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Badagry that the council was partnering with Ray Power FM in packaging the event.

    “It is the season of giving and sharing so the council decided to bring the Fuji legend to perform for the people of Badagry.

    “We know that some people might not receive any gifts during the Valentine’s Day, so we want to use the event to celebrate everyone so that they can feel loved.

    “The event is absolutely free so we implore everyone to celebrate as this would also be an avenue for business owners to showcase their products and services,” he said.

    He advised people to also help the needy during the Valentine’s Day celebration.

    ”The day should be used to impact the lives of the needy in the society,” he said.

    Popular Fuji star, Alhaji Wasiu Alabi Pasuma has tendered an unreserved apology to his colleague, Sulaimon Alao Malaika over the rancor that has brewed between them in the past couple of days.

    Over the past few days, fans of both artistes have engaged in a war of words after a reporter asked Pasuma why he didn’t attend his Malaika’s housewarming party.

    Replying to the question, Pasuma, who recently celebrate his 50th birthday, was quoted as saying; “He is my colleague, my junior brother… He (Malaika) is a boy to me. Congratulations and may God help him.”

    However, in order for peace to reign, the Fuji icon has publicly doused the tension among fans in a video post on his Instagram page @officialpasuma.

    My fans both home and abroad, we need to handle every situation with maturely, and to @ks1malaika fans all over d world, if calling Malaika my boy will cause problems btw us, I will love to say a very big sorry and apologize to everyone concerned.

    I also would like to thank everyone who has reached out with messages of support and encouragement. I truly appreciate your loyalty, concern and well wishes,” Pasuma pleaded.

    Pasuma and Malaika are known to have enjoyed a cordial, brotherly relationship before now.

    Ambode, Ooni, Pasuma set for Asa carnival in Lagos

    The much hyped Asa Carnival scheduled to hold in the Ikorodu area of Lagos has been described as one of the results of Governor Akinwumi Ambode’s call on the private sector and well meaning individuals to come forward and help in the development of the state’s many tourism potentials. The acting Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Tourism, Honourable Adebimpe Akinsola, said this while speaking about the forthcoming carnival.

    Akinsola, who said the Lagos State government is ever ready to partner with organisations, groups and individuals to further harness the tourism opportunities in the state, applauded the initiative of the Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. S.O.B Agunbiade and his team, which gave birth to the resuscitation of the Asa festival in Ikorodu division.

    Meanwhile, organizers of the event has confirmed the attendance of Governor Ambode, Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwuyi, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudasiru Obasa, and a host of other dignitaries, at the carnival, which will hold next Saturday at the Ebute-Ikorodu Ferry Terminal.

    Speaking on preparation for the event, Hon. Agunbiade said the carnival promises to be a great event and assures the people of Lagos state of maximum security at the various venues. According to him, the purpose of the event is to showcase the Asa masquerade as another cultural heritage of the people of Lagos state worthy of promoting as a tourism earner.

    “All is now set for the Asa carnival. We look forward to the presence of Governor Ambode, Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwuyi, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudasiru Obasa, and Fuji musician, Pasuma, at the event alongside numerous other dignitaries and celebrities. We assure the people of Lagos state of maximum security at the various venues on Saturday, 4th of November 2017,” he said.

    Fuji artiste, Alabi Pasuma, has been conferred with the Chieftaincy title of Togan of Badary Kingdom, Lagos State. The event held on Sunday, April 23, 2017.
    The singer shared a photo of himself after the ceremony via his Instagram page with the caption: “Alhamdulillah. Togan of Badagry Kingdom.”
    As one of the most respected Nigerian artistes, Pasuma has made videos with some of the best hip-hop artistes such as Wizkid, Olamide, Tiwa Savage and others.
    The cross-over singer released his debut hip-pop album titled My World in 2015, featuribg Olamide, Tiwa Savage, Oritsefemi, and Patoranking. He started his music career in 1984 and his debut album titledRecognition was released in 1993.

    TOP artistes like Alabi Ajibola Pasuma, Small Doctor, Jimboi, Lateef Adedimeji, Obaro Tiblaze, Kenny Blaq and others are set to perform at the ‘Screen-2-Stage’ event tagged Tunmigbe organised by popular AfricaMagic TV series, Mr & Mrs Kogberegbe.

    The event which was rescheduled to hold from 3pm on March 26th, 2017 at the Blue Roof, LTV 8, Ikeja, Lagos, will also have in attendance the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Atanda Adeyemi III as well as Ogun State-born socialite and businessman Chief Ibrahim Egungbohun aka Dende.

    Tunmigbe seeks to be an evening of comedy, fun and full Drama for entertainment of couples in Lagos.

    All is set for some Nigerian musicians to join their Indian counterparts to celebrate the first and much-anticipated ‘Festival of India’ on Saturday, August 13, 2016, at the Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos.

    On the list are Nigerian Superstar Davido, Fuji maestro Pasuma Wonder, Alhaji Sulaimon Adio Atawewe (Akile of fuji), Gospel star Sammie Okposo, legendary flutist Tee Mac and renowned female talking drummer (and recently appointed cultural ambassador to the Kingdom of Ile-Ife) Ara.

    They will join Indian stars such as as the multiple-award winner Anup Jalota (Emperor of Songs) as well as Bollywood Diva Yuvika Chaudhary and a host of other rising stars, dancers, and dramatic artists.In the final countdown to the ‘Festival of India’ in Nigeria, hundreds of thrilled Indians and Nigerians witnessed the colourful Chariot Inauguration Ceremony which took place at the expansive compound of Gaurapad Charities, the official sponsor of the Festival at Maryland, Lagos penultimate Sunday.

    The three towering, beautifully decorated Chariots, a tradition from the ancient city of Puri, has been celebrated for thousands of years, is the grand culmination of a series of celebrations spread over the summer and monsoon months in India and is the most splendid of them all.

    Brought to the west in the sixties by A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami, the Chariots Festivals are now celebrated annually in major cities worldwide, notably in New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris and Durban.

    Bolaji Rosiji, the founder of Gaurapad Charities and a former President of the Performing Musicians’ Association of Nigeria (PMAN), who is also the Co-Chairman of the Festival of India Organising Committee explained:

    “The Festival of India is not only about fashion, jewellery, culture and Bollywood. There is a higher purpose. We are using the Festival platform to forge diplomatic, cultural and commercial ties with the world’s fastest growing economy – India.

    ”Co-Chairman of the Festival Organising Committee, Mr Diwesh Mishra, reminded the audience that the Festival would include a colourful display of various Indian costumes, dressing and dance groups  representing different states in India as well as cultural groups from Nigeria.

    “This is in line with the overriding goal of the Festival which is “Celebrating Cultural Unity & Diversity for national and global peace – *vasudhaiva kutumbakam (*the world is one family.)”

    The Nigerian judges of the festival include Tee Mac and Ras Kimono while the Indian judges include Mrs Reena Bangera, Mrs Rupa Walia and Mrs Kamla Rao.

    The 46th birthday celebration of the National Coordinator of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) may have come and gone, but the juicy stories from the event will reverberate in the social circles for some time.

    The event, which held at the exclusive Batten House, Plot A2 Block G, MKO Gardens Road, Ikeja, Lagos, attracted dignitaries that cut across the political, business, traditional and entertainment sectors.

    One after the other, friends and associates of the OPC leader took turns to extol his virtues, which many of them said have endeared him to them. Adams, who thanked the large crowd of friends and admirers for honouring him, said he would have wished for a quiet celebration in line with the state of affairs in the country but quickly added that there was no way he would have turned down such honour from his people.

    The roof of the beautifully decorated hall was almost brought down when Fuji music exponent, Pasuma, took the stand and everybody scrambled to join the celebrant on the dance floor. Gospel act, Lanre Teriba, aka Atorise, who performed earlier on, served the dual purpose of doing a praise worship, which saw many sang in praise of God, and later switched to some danceable tunes. He wowed the crowd with his beautiful stage crafts, which left them asking for more. The high point of the event was the cutting of the birthday cake, which saw dignitaries joining the celebrant and his wife.

  • AYEFELE, PASUMA, OTHERS FOR FEMI SOLAR ALBUM LAUNCH

    WITH less than one month to the launching of Femi Solar’s album, which he called Mercy Beyond, the Jasa gospel crooner is set to leave no stone unturned; Solar, as gathered, has been in and out of the studio for the past weeks to put final touches to his latest work.

    The album, according to Solar, will be launched on April 10, 2016 as leading gospel singer, Yinka Ayefele and Fuji musician Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, are expected to lead others to Genesis Suites and Hall, Challenge, Ibadan, Oyo State.

    “Wasiu Alabi Pasuma has been pencilled down as the star artiste of the day,” Solar said.

    “Pasuma is coming to rock the city of Ibadan. I can confirm that to you. He’s not the only one coming that day, but I would not like to reveal much now.”

    The gospel singer on the same day will launch his latest video, entitled Grace.

    “I have been working on this project for more than eight months and I am glad that things are already taking the shape that I want. My team and I have been working to ensure that everything works according to plan. I will be launching my new video, Grace on that day as well, so you can see that it is going to be an afternoon that will be loaded with lots of activities,” he added.

    Solar seventh work featured the likes of Adegbodu twins, Mega 99, Prince Abel Dosumu and other artistes.
