Obaseki, Ighodalo, Ikimi, others kick off PDP campaign in Ubiaja

    • Ighodalo is Esan consensus candidate, says ex-minister

Members of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) stormed the Ubiaja Township Stadium, Esan Southeast Local Government Area of Edo State, yesterday, to kick off the party’s governorship campaign in a grand style.

Led by Governor Godwin Obaseki, the fully packed stadium was in a carnival mood as party chieftains and supporters converged at the venue to show their solidarity for their candidate, Asue Ighodalo.

Obaseki made it clear that his choice of a successor is someone who can “anchor the relay race successfully to victory”.

He said he had known Ighodalo for 40 years from his university days. He also insisted that the PDP flag bearer joined the race because of his love and compassion for the people and not because he was looking for money, fame or name. “He has all of those,” he said.

Obaseki added: “He won’t disappoint you; the same thing goes for Osarodion Ogie. When I came into government, our first budget was less than N100 billion. But we moved it to N450 billion. Ighodalo and Osarodion will move it to N1 trillion to have enough money to execute projects.”

The governor also encouraged all the attendees to go back and canvass support for Ighodalo and to come out on the day of the election and vote for the PDP.

Ighodalo thanked the people for the love they have shown him. He promised to ensure the security and safety of lives and property as governor. He also elaborated on a series of things outlined in ‘The Pathway to Prosperity for All’ manifesto. Chief Tom Ikimi, addressing the people stated that everyone who had worked assiduously for the Esan Agenda must be very happy that the flag-off happened in Esan land. He appealed to all the royal fathers to support Ighodalo as “he is the Esan consensus candidate for the governorship election”. Obaseki’s wife Lady Betsy declared that the time in Edo State is “Esan O’clock”.

The governor’s wife highlighted that the PDP has respect for women and so has appointed or elected them into very good positions. We (women) have a deputy speaker, we have local government chairmen, and we have deputy local government chairmen. We have commissioners and all. The PDP respects women.”

APC, PDP in war of words over plot to rig election

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State has accused the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) of plotting to subvert the will of the people in the Sept. 21 governorship election.

Mr Kassim Afegbua, Media Director of the APC Governorship Campaign Council alleged yesterday in Benin City that the State Security Network, set up by Gov. Godwin Obaseki, was a decoy to rig the election.

Afegbua claimed, in a statement, that 11,000 strong armed groups had been instructed to hide their guns and ammunition to avoid detection by security forces.

The APC stalwart also alleged that voice notes from the group’s WhatsApp chats had exposed plans to resist arrest and mount roadblocks.

Afegbua, however, called on the Inspector General of Police to act swiftly to prevent bloodshed and ensure a free, fair, and credible election. He said: “We will continue to expose Gov. Obaseki’s evil plots to deny Edo people the right to elect their chosen candidate.”

In a swift reaction, the PDP described the claims as “boring and anachronistic”.

Rev. Olu Martins, Deputy Director-General of Media, Asue/Ogie Governorship Campaign Council, said the PDP candidate, Asue Ighodalo’s impressive credentials, including his international awards and experience as chairman of multinationals, needed no introduction.

He said: “Knowing the APC for its well-developed penchant for lies and falsehood, it would not have been necessary to respond to Kassim Afegbua’s anachronistic style of campaign of calumny.”

He said Ighodalo is a global brand that does not require clandestine means to win the election. The PDP campaign spokesperson stated that the Edo people were intelligent and observant enough to distinguish between a thoroughbred and a candidate who does not have what it takes.

Osun PDP suspends Oyinlola’s ex-CoS over anti-party activities

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State has suspended former Chief of Staff (CoS) to Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Peter Babalola, over alleged anti-party activities.

Babalola, who served Oyinlola when he was the governor of Osun State, was appointed by Governor Ademola Adeleke as the chairman of College of Education, Ila-Orangun last year.

A letter of Babalola’s suspension signed by 17 party executives at Ward 7 in Irewole Local Government, chaired by Odelade Adesoye, was dated August 27, 2024.

The letter said: “After an exhaustive deliberations on anti-party activities of Elder Babalola in the PDP for the past two years, and his habitual engagements in activities that can put the party into disrepute, coupled with the fact that he has not attended PDP ward meeting or local government meeting in the last two years, the executive of PDP in Ward 7, Irewole Local Government, hereby suspends Babalola from PDP Ward 7, Irewole Local Government with effect from today, August 27, 2024.

    PDP hails Appeal Court judgment

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has hailed the Appeal Court judgment which on Monday, re-affirmed the nomination of Dr Asue Ighodalo as its candidate for the Sept. 21, Edo Governorship election.

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr Debo Ologunagba described the judgment as another momentous victory for democracy.

The PDP also described it as a victory for the rule of law against anti-democratic forces which sought to undermine and trample on the will of the people of Edo as symbolised by the candidature of Ighodalo.

“The Appeal Court judgment has again validated the credibility of the PDP nomination process which produced Ighodalo as its candidate.

“The judgment effectively shut the mouths of purveyors of lies and falsehood, who were confused and frustrated by Ighodalo’s soaring popularity and acceptance by the people of Edo.

“The spontaneous jubilation across Edo at the news of the judgment on Monday is a resounding testament to the overwhelming support of the majority of the people in the state for Ighodalo.

“This further signposts the forthcoming sweeping victory by Ighodalo whose personality and manifesto embody the collective vision and aspiration of the people of Edo,” the party said.

Edo PDP decries harassment of chieftains

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State has decried the harassment of its members by policemen.

A statement by Matthew A Iduoriyekemwen, Director General Asue/Ogie Campaign Management Council, said these policemen arrested Mr Amos Tom, and Hon. Kingsley Osahon, Councillor representing Ward 10 in Esan North East Local Government Area, along with  others whose whereabouts are currently unknown.

The party alleged tha they have compiled a list of prominent PDP chieftains across the three senatorial districts for arrest.

The goal, according to PDP, is to weaken the party of the governorship election scheduled for September 21, 2024.

Among the names believed to be on the list are, Chief Odion Olaye, Chief Francis Inegbiniki, Chief B. Olukoga, Mr Festus Osaigbovo,Dr. Kelly Inedegbor, Chairman of Esan North East Local Government Area, among others whose identities have yet to be confirmed.

The statement reads: “It is rather unfortunate that while the PDP is diligently working, moving from ward to ward and local government to local government actively campaigning across various platforms, articulating their programmes and initiatives for the people of Edo State, the APC is attempting to weaponize the police against the people because they know they have a defective and unmarketable candidate and cannot win under any circumstance in a free, fair and credible election.

“Their only strategy is to harass and intimidate opposition parties into submission in their quest to secure electoral victory through subterfuge.

The Police officers, who are being compromised must remember that they are funded by tax payer’s money and must not allow themselves to be used against the people, in pursuit of their selfish political gains. The Nigeria Police is for all Nigerians and not for some powerful members of the ruling Party at the Federal Government.

“At the rally held in one of the Senatorial districts, the former deputy hovernor was boasting and issuing threats to the PDP, daring them to come out that day if they have two “heads”.

“It is pertinent to note that the days in which political parties win elections by wanton intimidation are far gone and Edo people are going to stand firm in resistance to any form of harassment and intimidation by any group or persons, no matter how highly placed.

“We also want to categorically state that the Nigeria Police Force is not on the ballot for the September 21 governorship election in Edo State, as it now appears to us that we are now contesting against the APC/ The Nigeria Police.

“It is therefore, important that they, in the interest of peace and security in the state and country, read the mood of the nation and conduct themselves professionally as we approach the elections and ensure that they maintain law and order which is their constitutional responsibility.

“We believe that this devious resort to harassment and intimidation is a recipe for anarchy and we are therefore, calling on the Inspector General of Police, AIG, Zone 5, the Edo State Commissioner of Police, and other security agencies to step in and stop these harassments and intimidation to prevent a descent to anarchy in the State.

“We also call on Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), other stakeholders and the international community to turn their attention to Edo State and take note of this rather disturbing pattern of harassment and intimidation in the build-up to the Edo State Governorship election slated for September 21.

“Efforts must be intensified to monitor activities leading up to the elections to ensure that government institutions, especially the police, do not undermine the wishes of the people at the polls.

“As a responsible party and campaign Organization, we shall continue to abide by the rules of engagement as spelt out in the constitution and the Electoral Act.  We will continue to market our candidates to the Edo People and resist every form of harassment and intimidation by any institution or agency of government.

“Edo people will come out en-masse to show their resolve to remain under the umbrella of the PDP in the State by casting their votes for the party’s candidate, Dr. Asue Ighodalo and will stay to defend their votes, and no amount of threat, intimidation and harassment will stop the people or hinder the defeat that awaits the APC at the polls.”

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has reaffirmed the nomination of Asue Ighodalo as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo state.

In a unanimous judgement delivered by Justice Musali JCA in the suit marked CA/ABJ/CV/764/2024, the Appeal Court held that the delegates who sought to nullify the PDP primaries lack locus and that the trial court has no jurisdiction to nullify the PDP primaries.

The Appellate Court further stated that Under s. 84 (14) of the Electoral Act, it is only aspirants that can challenge a primary election.

It said that ad hoc delegates are not aspirants and therefore do not  have the locus to sue as the matter is an internal affairs of Peoples Democractic Party.

“They are delegates and not aspirants. Delegates do not have any locus to challenge the process of the primary election,” the court held

The Appellant Court consequently upheld the February 22 primaries of the PDP in Edo State, which produced Dr. Asue Ighodalo as governorship candidate  of the PDP in the forthcoming September 21st governorship election in Edo state.

  • Privileged party members behind PDP’s troubles, group alleges

Privileged party members behind PDP’s troubles, group alleges

The PDP Frontliners group has blamed the ongoing challenges within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on highly privileged members who have previously benefited from appointments, elective positions, and other advantages.

The group claimed that many of those who have reaped significant benefits from the party are now among its biggest problems.

In a statement released on Sunday in Abuja, signed by Alhaji Hussein Mohammed (President), Mr. Moses Abidemi (Secretary), and Mr. Dan Okafor (Publicity Secretary), the PDP Frontliners accused both internal and external “vultures” of circling around, hoping to exploit a weakened PDP.

The group vowed that loyal party members would resist these forces to protect the party’s core values and pro-people agenda.

The group specifically expressed anger towards Senator Dino Melaye, a former PDP governorship candidate in Kogi State, accusing him of contributing to the party’s problems through poor leadership, and what they termed the “commercialization and privatization” of the PDP.

“Dino Melaye got a PDP ticket to the House of Representatives and even, after returning from the APC, PDP gave him a Senatorial ticket after prevailing on other qualified aspirants to step down but you can all see the baseless and groundless insult he is using to pay back, ” they stated.

According to the group, it was a gratuitous insult to the people of Kogi state and the PDP for Senator Melaye to overlook his own long-known grave shortcomings and now unfairly accuse the party’s acting National Chairman, Umar Iliya Damagum, National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature of being behind the bad fortunes of the party.

“For last year’s Kogi state governorship elections, Dino Melaye got huge contributions, including vehicles from PDP stakeholders but never dispensed campaign funds to party structures or even, PDP polling agents across Kogi state; it has never been so bad since 1999, but Dino Melaye’s failure· earned PDP a meagre 46,000 votes across the entire· state· and the governorship candidate himself did not even bother to vote!

“Audaciously, this Melaye took to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter and wrote: “End of the road for PDP as Damagun, Bature, and Anyanwu irredeemably destroyed the party. We will talk about the commercialisation and privatisation of PDP. PDP is now once upon a time”

“Ironically, this fellow now talking about how our party is dying was implicated in efforts to scuttle the PDP ward congress in Kogi state, in an abortive effort to commercialize and ‘deliver’ to a paymaster for a desperate outing in 2027; members suspect an on-going agenda to even scam Kogi state PDP once again,” PDP Frontliners stated.

Arguing that there seems more to the issues than what many party members perceive on the surface, the PDP Frontliners also expressed hope that if resolute party members sustain their confrontation against manipulative efforts from privileged party members, there is still a good chance for the PDP to return to power in 2027.

“The misplaced anger· against Damagum and the PDP leadership began when they agreed to the August 9 call of our group and that of eighteen out of the twenty-one PDP chairmen in various local government areas of Kogi state to stop the state’s caretaker committee from replacing the results of a free, fair and orderly ad-hoc delegates’ conference of Saturday, 27th July 2024 with a manipulated process· hurriedly slated for Saturday, August 10 but cancelled by the national leadership.

“Obviously, someone is looking for how to scam us and commercialize the PDP support base in Kogi state; or, is it not a strange irony that the same minority clique that was behind the failed attempt to commercialize and privatize Kogi state· PDP ahead of 2027 primaries now audaciously throws such accusation against those who stopped the manipulation so decisively?.

“We are very optimistic that PDP can re-emerge as Nigeria’s dominant party in 2027 if such unethical· illegality of using the backdoor to foist any desperate· clique’s agenda continues to be resisted by the national leadership as well as the grassroots leaders of PDP; attempts by any failed governorship candidate who promises to deliver Kogi state to any 2027 aspirant through unethical manipulations are doomed to fail,” they added.

  • Attempt to review party congresses will kill PDP in Rivers – Arewa group

Attempt to review party congresses will kill PDP in Rivers – Arewa group

Arewa Youths for Peaceful Coexistence has condemned the call by the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) Governors’ Forum for a review of the Rivers State PDP Congresses.

In a statement released by its national chairman, Hon. Haruna Bature, and the Abuja chapter chairman, Hon. Ogah Okpanachi, the group warned that any attempt to review the congresses could undermine the PDP’s presence in Rivers State.

Arewa Youths also criticized the Sen. Adolphus Wagbara-led PDP Board of Trustees for allegedly siding with Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s faction in the ongoing Rivers PDP conflict.

The group said: “The call by Gov. Bala Muhammed led PDP Governors Forum demanding the review of the Rivers State PDP Congresses will be suicidal for the PDP in Rivers State.

“We also condemn the controversial stands of Sen. Adolphus Wagbara led PDP Board of Trustees in the Rivers State Political Crisis.

“The dynamics of Politics are based on integrity, capacity, service, goodwill, foresight and articulate implementation of well-defined programmes and plans to achieve set goals.

“The Arewa Youths for Peaceful Coexistence wishes to remind the Gov. Bala Muhammed-led PDP Governors Forum that in April 2024 the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party met, decided on State Chapters where State Congresses will be held, drew up a timetable for the conduct of the congresses which was approved by the National Executive Council (NEC) of the PDP.

“In all the affected states, the Ward and Local Government Congresses have been simultaneously completed on the scheduled dates remaining the State Congress to elect the State Officers.

“The Arewa Youths for Peaceful Coexistence, therefore, wonders and feels greatly disappointed at the shameful and sudden turnaround by Gov. Bala Muhammed led the PDP Governors Forum to call for a Review of the State Congresses completed in these states.

“The demand by Gov. Bala Muhammed led PDP Governors Forum for Review of the Rivers State Congresses alone speaks volumes, questions the integrity of the PDP Governors Forum and challenges the rights of members of the Party who freely came out participated and won their positions in a freely and fairly contested Party Congresses.

“Most importantly, singling out Rivers State PDP Congresses alone for Review by the PDP Governors Forum is biased, condescending, a compromise of the Party’s internal processes and systems, and nothing short of a show of comradeship to save Gov. Siminalayi Fubara who lost out in the Rivers State PDP Congresses, which cannot and never be accepted to the disadvantage of the teaming majority of members of the Party in Rivers State.

“Politics is a Power Game and not a Tea Party, there will be losers and winners, and the integrity of the Party’s internal processes and systems as a formidable opposition to survive and possibly lead Nigeria in the coming years is put to a serious test.

“We wish to state categorically, that it was a similar stance the Party took during the zoning of the party’s national chairman and presidential candidate that made the PDP lose the 2023 General Elections.

“The Arewa Youths for Peaceful Coexistence, therefore, calls on Gov. Bala Muhammed-led PDP Governors Forum and the Sen. Adolphus Wagbara-led PDP Board of Trustees to adopt a mediation approach to persuade Gov. Sim Fubara to work with the Winners at the Rivers State Congresses to avoid destroying the integrity, fortunes and Survival of the Party in the 2027 General Elections,” the statement read.

  • What manner of reconciliation in PDP?

What manner of reconciliation in PDP?

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is at war with itself. The conflict is neither phantasmal nor accidental. It is self-inflicted. It stemmed from its entrenched haughtiness and chronic condescension.

In its heydays as the ruling party, its leaders strutted the nation’s political landscape like Mafiosi. They appeared like they were the nation’s alpha and omega, and they lived it in deeds and speeches.

The current state of affairs with the political party that was once so comfortable that it boasted to rule Nigeria for at least sixty years is an anti-climax.

Like two sides in a battle, PDP’s divided house is now yearning for a truce it would never have needed if it was humble. The party’s search for peace after many months of a needless imbroglio is instructive for discerning politicians.

But will the PDP be able to put its house in order ahead of future elections?

The main opposition party is divided over its agenda for reconciliation and party discipline. While a section of the party is genuinely interested in reunion and sincerely pushing for it, another section is looking for scapegoats to remove from leadership positions and probably expel from the fold.

On the one hand, the party is in search of peace; on the other hand, it is witch-hunting some chieftains and indulging in a blame game. It does not appear to be contemplating mutual forgiveness. Rather, it is further fueling more conflicts. In the melee, rivals are at daggers drawn, spoiling for each other’s pound of flesh. The followers in rival camps are stupefied. Can a house divided against itself remain standing?

The consequence is that the party remains an opposition on paper, barking but not biting. Its attention is divided by multiple crises, not only at the national leadership but also in many state chapters.

Nine years after it was voted out, the PDP has remained in the cold, following the abortion of its dream of staying in power for 60 years.

Unlike the All Progressives Congress (APC), which is relatively cohesive and easier to lead as the ruling party, the PDP suffers from the absence of effective leadership and a lack of crisis resolution mechanisms. The party is torn apart by the antagonistic ambitions of its leading lights, the clash of egos, and the pursuit of personal interests instead of group interests. This is at the expense of collective survival.

These days, there is no shortage of Ahitophelian advice for the party in distress. A party sympathiser and elder statesman, Chief Edwin Kiagbodo Clark, suddenly reemerged on the sidelines of the party, urging the members to elevate disciplinary measures over the peace mission. The ever-combative Ijaw leader accused the party’s Acting Chairman, Ambassador Illyas Damagum, of conniving with the ruling APC to ruin the PDP. It may be possible that the great chief and veteran critic has more information about the party than those currently steering its affairs.

Of course, Chief Clark, a former Federal Commissioner for Information and the Second Republic senator, has an axe to grind with Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike over the protracted Rivers State crisis. Taking sides with Ijaw-born Governor Siminalayi Fubara instead of brokering a truce, Pa Clark called for a probe that would lead to Wike’s expulsion from the party.

This seemingly divisive position by the octogenarian lawyer and politician has further polarised the platform. What influence Pa Clark wields in the party is not certain. But if his advice is upheld, reconciliation would pale into window dressing as mutual distrust would deepen due to the preconceived thought and predetermined plan to rusticate certain members. The implication is that cohesion would become more elusive while unity and tranquility would remain a tall order.

Since last year, when it failed to bounce back at the general election, the PDP has been in disarray. It has failed to do a thorough reassessment of how it had missed the road and deviated from the vision of its founding fathers, particularly its cherished tradition and principles of equity, fairness, and justice. Only few founding members are active now and those controlling the party and tossing it around do not listen to wise counsel.

As the acting chairman was setting up reconciliation and disciplinary panels, it was evident that many other party leaders were not on the same page with him to pursue an agenda for repositioning the platform.

The first committee is headed by former Osun State Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola, while the second is headed by a former Foreign Affairs Minister, Chief Tom Ikimi. Both need wisdom, tact, and cooperation from stakeholders for the accomplishment of their assignments.

Ironically, Damagum, who set up the two committees, is being targeted for political liquidation by those plotting his removal as acting head of the National Working Committee (NWC) and the National Executive Committee (NEC).

The Deputy National Chairman (North) became acting chairman, by the party’s constitution, when the embattled National Chairman, Dr. Iyorcha Ayu, could not regain his lost seat.

Although Damagum can only be removed by a National Convention, those scheming to shove him aside do not bother. The plot to remove him has sparked a fresh crisis. If the scheming for his ouster succeeds, particularly if an unelected person is drafted to take charge outside the National Convention, it would lead to litigation that would compound the current distress.

Unknown to the current PDP undertakers, genuine reconciliation can only be undertaken in an atmosphere of mutual trust and confidence, devoid of obvious threats to party membership and avoidance of emasculation of perceived opponents.

While reconciliation at the national level may be hectic, it may be relatively easier by the Oyinlola committee to accomplish the task in many states where local acrimony, bickering, intrigues and division are not fuelled by the war of attrition at the national level. State chapters, like Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Ekiti, Bauchi, Rivers, Edo, Kano, Anambra, Imo, Delta, and Benue need reconciliation.

Indisputably, the crisis at the national level is an obstacle to the proposed convention of the party, where the successor to the position vacated by Senator Ayu is expected to be elected or selected.

This poses a challenge that may be beyond the party. If peace returns to the PDP and the party decides to zone its national chairman to the South in anticipation of picking its next presidential candidate from the North, would the South be disposed to losing the presidency until a Southerner completes a two-term tenure at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja, the seat of government, like former President Muhammadu Buhari did?

The main issue in the PDP is the struggle for control of the party’s machinery between the camp of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President and two-time presidential candidate, and supporters of Wike, former governor of Rivers State, ahead of 2027. The first battle is the national convention that has been postponed because of the lingering crisis.

But the greater issue, indeed the bone of contention in the PDP, is zoning, or rotation of the presidential ticket, as laid down by the party’s early leaders, and its neglect by those trying to arrogantly sacrifice the bond of unity on the altar of personal ambition. Therefore, any reconciliation that ignores the agreement on power distribution may be dead on arrival.

There was a conflict over the demand for a Southern presidential candidate last year. What is the assurance that the same conflict will not resurface in 2027?

The founding fathers of the PDP understood Nigeria as a complex and heterogeneous country thirsty for unity in diversity. There is a perpetual craving for a sense of belonging among the unequal ethnic groups that harbour the fear of marginalisation, exclusion, and deprivation.

To forge unity, the pioneer leaders identified six top positions and levers of power which they distributed among the six geo-political zones. The positions are the president, the vice president, the Senate President, the House of Representatives Speaker, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), and the National Party Chairman.

According to the arrangement and agreement, the Presidency should rotate between the North (comprising the Northwest, the Northeast, and the Northcentral) and the South (made up of the Southwest, the Southsouth, and the Southeast).

Rivers: Expel Damagu, others, UK PDP appeals

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) UK chapter has condemned the actions of Acting National Chairman Umar Iliya Damagum and National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu.

In a statement by Dr. Anita Jackson, the group demanded the immediate expulsion of Damagum and Anyanwu from the party.

The statement alleged that the duo’s actions are a “cancer” that has infiltrated the party’s highest echelons and accused them of working to undermine Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

The group described Damagum and Anyanwu as a “toxic poison” that must be eradicated if the party is to survive and accused them of interfering in legal matters, plotting to derail the party’s progress, and disregarding the party’s constitution.

The statement called on the party’s leadership to take immediate and decisive action against the duo, saying they are a “festering wound” on the PDP’s reputation.

“We are incensed and appalled by the actions of Damagum and Anyanwu. Their sabotage of the party’s interests are a stark reminder of the cancer that has infiltrated the highest echelons of our beloved party,” Jackson said.

“Their clandestine schemes to undermine Governor Siminalayi Fubara, one of the PDP’s most outstanding performers, are a clear indication of their allegiance to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and their desire to destroy the PDP from within. Their actions are a toxic poison that must be eradicated if the party is to survive.

“We demand that Damagum and Anyanwu be expelled from the party forthwith. Their presence is a festering wound on the PDP’s reputation, and their continued involvement will only lead to further damage and destruction. We will not stand idly by while these traitors sell out our party to the highest bidder.

“Their interference in legal matters, their plots to derail the party’s progress, and their blatant disregard for the party’s constitution are all evidence of their treasonous intentions.

“We will not tolerate this behaviour any longer. The actions of both men are a slap in the face to the millions of loyal members who have worked tirelessly to build the PDP into a formidable force in Nigerian politics.”

The group vowed to fight for the soul of the party and restore it to its former glory, saying they will not forget the sacrifices of the party’s founding fathers.

Jackson added: “We call on the party’s leadership to take immediate and decisive action against these traitors. Expel them, and let them join their true allies in the APC. The PDP does not need traitors like Damagum and Anyanwu. We need loyal, dedicated members who will work tirelessly to build a better future for Nigeria.

“Their actions are a wake-up call to all loyal members of the PDP. We must rise up and reclaim our party from these traitors. We must stand strong and united against those who seek to destroy us from within. We will not be silenced, and we will not be defeated. We will fight for the soul of our party, and we will emerge victorious.

“We will not forget the sacrifices of our founding fathers, who worked tirelessly to build this party. We will not let their legacy be destroyed by traitors like Damagum and Anyanwu. We will fight to restore the PDP to its former glory, and we will ensure that those who seek to destroy us are brought to justice.

“We call on all loyal members of the PDP to join us in this fight. Let us stand together against these traitors and reclaim our party. Let us show them that we will not be silenced, and we will not be defeated. We are the PDP, and we will emerge victorious.”
