APC, PDP trade accusation in Imo

Supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State have accused each other if funds diversion.

According to the APC supporters who kick-started the allegation, they urged the National Secretary of the PDP, Senator Samdaddy Anyanwu to suspend his governorship campaigns.

The APC stalwarts also demanded a full disclosure on the N490 million scandal which was allegedly perpetrated during his term in the Senate.

Anyanwu is also the governorship candidate of the opposition PDP for the November off-season governorship election in Imo state.

The call by the APC supporters is coming few hours a former spokesman of PDP in the state, Collins Opurozor, raised an alarm that constituency projects nominated by Anyanwu in the 2018 budget which amounted to N490 million were not executed.

The supporters in a statement read out in Owerri on Thursday, by the convener of the group, Chief Gerry Njoku, said the people have resolved that Senator Anyanwu must suspend all campaign activities and explain to Imo people the whereabouts of the money which Federal Government released under his watch as a senator.

Njoku, the President of Owerri Zonal Leaders of Thought, said:  “We learnt that much of the diverted funds would have gone into youth empowerment and women empowerment, and rehabilitation of our rural roads. If those our youths were empowered, they would not have been available to be used to drive insecurity in the state.

“Yet, this same Anyanwu who deprived our youths and made them jobless and vulnerable to crime has suddenly come to tell us that he wants to make Imo safe again. What manner of hypocrisy is that!

“It is our firm resolution that if Senator Anyanwu does not satisfactorily tell us what happened to our money, we shall permanently ban him from ever seeking any public office, commit him to hall of shame and prohibit every Owerri person from associating with him for any purpose,” he said.

The PDP Campaign Council in Imo, which countered the allegation, lauded the staff of the 27 local government areas in the state for protesting against Uzodimma’s alleged diversion of over N104 billion belonging to the LGAs in the last three and half years.

According to a statement at the weekend by Director, Media and Publicity Imo PDP, Sam-Jones Governorship Camp,  Ikenna Onuoha a letter that leaked few days ago from the Ministry of Local Government in the state showed that Uzodimma deducts over N2.4 billion monthly from LGA account.

The Council said “it is ridiculous that while hunger and starvation are on the increase in the state occasioned by the petroleum subsidy removal, Uzodimma and his government have flagrantly refused to pay LGA Staff more than 10 months salary due to the huge money diverted.

“Our council further regrets that while other states in the country have designed suitable and sustainable blue prints to ensure that local governments in their areas are viable and formidable to carry out rural projects, Uzodimma and his government are busy diverting the state’s funds while leaving the citizens to beg for food.

“It is unheard of, uncalled for and condemnable that upon all the resources available to Uzodimma and his administration in the last three years including intervention funds from the federal government and other foreign agencies, our state LGA staff are still wallowing in abject poverty simply because the Government does not have any regard for them, nor appreciate their contributions to the growth of the state.

“This singular act of negligence and sheer wickedness to the people of the state led to the emergence of our Governorship candidate, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu to correct the ills and as well, make Imo safe again.”

The council therefore, called on Imo people to join the campaign against Uzodimma to vote the administration out come November 11.

PDP will reclaim lost senatorial seats in Plateau, Mwadkwon vows

The minority leader of the Senate, Simon Davou Mwadkwon (PDP-Plateau North), has described the tribunal judgements nullifying the election of some National Assembly members in Plateau state as strange.

Mwadkwon, who reportedly insisted that the verdicts would not stand, added that he is confident that the Court of Appeal would not let any judgement that was in clear contrast to the Supreme Court pronouncements stand.

He called on members and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state to remain calm.

He said: “Those presently rejoicing inside their house of lies will face the reality of their self-deceit when the Appeal Court takes the right decisions on the tribunal judgements.”

Senator Mwadkwon said the Supreme Court judgement on the PDP suit on the nomination of President Bola Tinubu’s running mate for the February 25, 2023, presidential election, Kashim Shettima, was clear enough as to who has the right to challenge the nomination of political party candidates.

He said the Supreme Court has made it clear that no political party can challenge the nomination of another political party, wondering how and why the tribunal could nullify the election of duly elected National Assembly members on the ground that they were invalidly nominated due to no party structure in the state.

He said: “Even assuming but not conceding that the PDP had no structure in Plateau State as at the time the candidates were nominated, is it the State party structure that nominates candidates or the National?

“Was the national body of PDP that is legally empowered to nominate candidates for elections, not the one that conducted the primary elections that produced our candidates?

“Or is it the duty of any other organ of a political party to conduct primary elections apart from the national body of the party?

“However, in the case of the PDP in Plateau State, the party duly complied with the judgment of Justice S.P. Gang and held a repeat congress in September 2021.

“This congress was dutifully monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as required by law.

“Consequently, the congress was affirmed by the Federal High Court’s judgment delivered by Justice D. V. Agishi in the case of Augustine Timkuk versus PDP.

“Furthermore, the judgement was unanimously affirmed by the Court of Appeal, Jos in favour of the PDP in a ruling by Justice T. Y. Hassan, Justice I. A. Andenyangtso and Justice O. O. Goodluck, delivered on 11 February 2023.

“One now wonders where the tribunal got its ground of no party structure on which it nullified the elections of our duly elected National Assembly members.

“This is also considering the fact that one of the two panels of the National and State House of Elections Tribunal headed by Justice Williams Olamide, in its own judgements, dismissed the ground on which the panel headed by Justice Mohammed Tukur, nullified elections of our party members.

“From whichever way one chooses to look at the judgements, they clearly stand logic and legal precedents on the head and will surely be nullified by the Appeal Court.

“Therefore, our people should remain calm, with assurance that those they willingly elected will serve their terms and deliver their electoral promises.”

PDP chieftains defect to APC in Imo

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Imo State received a boost as the structures of the minority party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Egbema, Ohaji-Egbema Local Government Area have collapsed into the ruling party.

The defectors pledged to work with their kits and kin for the reelection of Governor Hope Uzodimma in the forthcoming governorship election of November 11, 2023.

The former members of the PDP who were received in their hundreds at the Owerri residence of the former Minister of State for Education, Rt. Hon. Goodluck Nanah Opiah, said they appreciated the good work done by Uzodimma since 2020 when he became the governor of the state, adding that they joined the APC to help actualize his second term election victory.

Addressing the new entrants, Opiah assured that more PDP leaders from Ohaji-Egbema would join the party in the days to come, saying that it is work in progress.

He said: “There are those who are still dilly-dallying. They will make up their minds soon. It is our desire to collapse the PDP in Ohaji-Egbema for the governor’s reelection.”

He assured them that no one would discriminate against them in the APC as everyone is a member. “Nobody will discriminate against you in our dear party, the APC. There is no foundation member and no joiner. We share our things equally, and we don’t discriminate. If you notice any discrimination, report to us quickly, and the person would be sanctioned,” he said.

The State Chairman, Hon. Mcdonald Ebere, while welcoming the new members to the APC, urged them to work assiduously for the reelection of the governor. He said that leadership is about bringing people together.

“You can see that we are receiving you under the rains. This shows how serious we are. We can receive you at any time. Leadership is about harvesting people for the party and not about drinking champagne. I urge all of you to work very hard to deliver the governor. Please tell those still watching that there is no road in the PDP. We will not discriminate against you,” he said.

Earlier in his remarks, the LGA Chairman of the party, Obinna Obasi, said the party operates an open-door policy and that the new members were welcome to the party. He urged them to feel free and contribute their quota to the success of the party and the reelection of the governor.

The Sole Administrator of the LGA, Hon. Marcel Amadioha, while also welcoming the new members, said that with their presence in the APC, the PDP in the LGA is a foregone conclusion.

    • Main opposition’s elders sure of victory for Atiku at Supreme Court

The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said it had resolved to resist what it called the current “manifest desperation” by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to turn Nigeria into a one-party state.

The elders of the main opposition expressed confidence that its presidential candidate in the February 25 general election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, would his appeal against the ruling of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) at the Supreme Court.

Atiku had challenged the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of APC at the PEPT.

The election tribunal had, in its judgment on September 6, upheld President Tinubu’s victory, but Atiku and the PDP rejected the verdict and vowed to take the case to the apex court.

Rising from a meeting yesterday in Abuja, the BoT said the Supreme Court has the capacity and courage to ultimately and decisively “right the wrongs and correct the manifest errors” contained in the judgment of the PEPT “in the interest of the unity, stability and corporate existence of our country”.

The BoT, in a communiqué released after the meeting, restated PDP’s rejection of the PEPT verdict, “in spite of the evidence clearly pointing to the contrary”.

The main opposition’s elders said they had resolved to take urgent steps to resist the current “manifest desperation” by the APC to turn Nigeria into a one party state.

They also said they were monitoring and studying the outcome of cases in the various election courts with regard to their level of adherence and respect for the rule of law and evidence before the courts.

The party chieftains commended Atiku for following due process of the law in his quest to retrieve the presidential mandate “freely given to him” at the February 25, 2023 presidential election.

The BoT bemoaned the current state of the nation, expressing serious concerns over the excruciating hardship, worsening insecurity, general sense of apprehension and despondency across the country.

These, they observed, were occasioned by what they termed the hasty implementation of ill-planned policies of the overtly insensitive APC administration.

“The BoT is seriously worried over the continued fall in the value of the Naira arising from the ill-implemented policies of the APC with attendant devastating negative effect on the economy resulting in agonising high costs and unbearable pressure on families.

“The BoT laments that the APC is pushing Nigerians to the wall and worries that the level of poverty and anger in the polity over the suppressive rule of the APC is capable of snowballing into a serious crisis, if not urgently addressed.

“The BoT observed that the nation is currently in a precarious situation under the APC and Nigerians look unto the PDP for solution and direction at this time.

“The BoT assures Nigerians that despite the challenges, the PDP remains united, stronger and more determined to continue to lead the charge to rescue our democracy and return our nation to the path of credible elections, rule of law, national cohesion and economic prosperity,” the communiqué further stated.

The meeting, which was convened by the PDP Acting National Chairman Umar Damagum, was attended by the acting BoT Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara.

Others at the meeting included former Senate President David Mark, former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, former Kogi State Governor Ibrahim Idris, and former Cross River State Governor Donald Duke.

Also at the meeting were former cabinet ministers Dame Josephine Anenih, Adamu Maina Waziri and Tanimu Turaki (SAN).

Senators Abdul Ningi, Sanusi Daggash, Stella Omu and a few other members also attended the meeting.

Students use Market Square as classrooms in Dickson’s LGA, PDP leader raises alarm

A public affairs analyst and convener of the PDP Alliance for Democracy (PAD),  Ekiye Akposeye, has raised the alarm over the lack of classrooms at Ogobiri community in Sagbama, the local government area of former Governor Seriake Dickson.

Akposeye said the development had compelled students to resort to the use of market squares as their classrooms.

The Sagbama leader in a statement on Tuesday, September 12, said:  “It is quite honestly, worrying that in 2023 students would have to attend classes in a market square at Ogobiri community.

“Even beyond politics, this is bad. As a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) supporter, this is not good for the optics. Sagbama has been, for years, one of the strong bases of our party. The news of the unfortunate happenings at Ogobiri is not a good show of our party’s value system.”

Akposeye said he learnt the governor had been briefed about the consequences of such development to his second term campaign bid and that he had asked his Commissioner for Education to visit the area.

He noted: “I am told the governor is freshly aware of the fact that children are being taught in the market square at Ogobiri as there are no classes and has directed the Hon. Commissioner for Education who is to arrive there soon.

“The common thought is for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governorship candidate not to be aware of the incident Ogobiri hence the hasty dispatch of the education commissioner, but sadly, the Ogobiri incident has been common knowledge for months and it is not something to politicize.

“The approach is simple and classical: build classroom blocks at Ogobiri and take our children off the streets and markets.”

Mixed fortunes for APC, PDP, Labour at tribunals

    • Lalong wins senatorial seat
    • LP Reps sacked in Abia
    • APC, PDP Reps   axed in Delta
    • Plateau governor triumphs

All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) are counting their gains and loses at the governorship and legislative tribunals in states.

The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Jos yesterday declared Simon Lalong as the duly elected Senator to represent Plateau South Senatorial District.

Lalong, former governor of Plateau and Minister of Labour and Employment, ran on the platform of the APC.

In Abia State, the tribunal sitting in Umuahia, the state capital, declared the election of Labour Party’s Munachim Alozie invalid. He was declared winner of Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency.

Also, the tribunal  in Asaba, capital of Delta State, nullified the election of the member representing Ughelli/Udu Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Rev. Francis Waive. He ran on APC ticket.

In Plateau State, the tribunal sitting in Jos, the state capital,  dismissed the petition filed by Alfred Dabwan of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) against Governor Caleb Mutfwang of the PDP.

LP candidates victory upheld in Abia

The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Umuahia, Abia State capital, upheld the  victory of LP candidate in Isiala Ngwa North and South Constituency, Ginger Onwusibe.

The panel also dismissed the petition filed by the PDP candidate, Chief Anthony Agbazuere, his APC counterpart, Chijoke Ikpo, against Onwusibe.

The INEC had declared Onwusibe winner after polling 20,411 votes to defeat Agbazuere, who scored 13,508 votes and the APC candidate who polled 2976 votes.

Agbazuere had prayed the tribunal to disqualify the respondent for not resigning officially from the PDP before joining the LP.

He also told the court that INEC was not given any notice, 30 days before the party congress, where the respondent was picked as the LP candidate.

The respondent, through his counsel, Mr Okite  Okite, argued that what the petitioners brought to the tribunal were pre-election matters that had already been decided in the favour of his client at the Supreme Court.

In a unanimous judgment, the panel, led by Justice Hajaratu Hajjo Lawal, ruled that the tribunal lacked the jurisdiction to entertain the matter.

The campaign director of the respondent, Mr Onwere Nmesirionye, hailed the judgment, saying it was the true reflection of the will of his constituents.

    Tribunal orders rerun in Abia

The National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Umuahia, the Abia State capital, declared the election in Obingwa/Osisioma/Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency null and void.

The court also ordered for a rerun within the next 90 days according to the constitution.

The tribunal, led by Justice Lawal, noted in a judgment delivered by a panel member, Prof. Muhammad Mahmud, that the LP candidate was declared in error and therefore, his victory cannot stand.

The candidate of the Young Progressives Party (YPP), Ibe Michael Nwoke, had prayed the court to  nullify the election of LP’s Alozie as he was not duly elected and his election invalid based on the margin of lead.

Also, the tribunal sitting in Umuahia North Local Government Area sacked three LP House of Representatives members.

A panel of the tribunal led by Justice Adeyinka Aderegbe, sacked the member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Constituency, Mr. Ibe Okwara Osunwa, for non-compliance with the Electoral Act.

The tribunal ordered the INEC to withdraw the certificate of return issued to Osunwa and issue a new one to Okeke.

    Lalong wins:

The tribunal held that the votes scored by Lalong’s opponent,  Napoleon Bali of PDP were wasted votes because  he was invalidly nominated.

The Plateau APC congratulated Lalong for his triumph at the tribunal presided over by Justice B. M .Tukur.

The chapter, in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Sylvanus Namang,  agreed with the tribunal that PDP   ought not to have participated in the last Plateau South senatorial poll because it lacked a validly recognised legal structure.

It added: “We also want to applaud justices O. Elekwa and O. A. Adetujoye, who also concurred with the lead judgment. The  judgment, we believe, is a clear  roadmap to better days ahead for the APC in the state in the remaining Plateau Tribunal  judgments.”

    Mutfwang triumphs:

The tribunal dismissed the petition by Dabwan of NNPP against Mutfwang. The NNPP candidate had complained against unlawful exclusion of his party’s logo by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the ballot.

Mutfwang hailed the verdict in his favour, saying that the Justice A. Y. Joh-led tribunal judgment validated the will of the people.

He said: “We give thanks to God Almighty, the ultimate judge. We were confident in the outcome of this election, which was clearly in our favour. We commend the judiciary for upholding the voters’ choice.”

Mutfwang said  the ruling was a victory for democracy and the people of Plateau State.

He said: “We are approaching the conclusion of these cases, and while one more governorship petition remains, we remain hopeful and confident it will also be resolved in our favour. We look forward to closing this chapter and focusing on the task of governance.”

The tribunal also declared Fom Dalyop Chollom of the (LP), an engineer, winner of the National Assembly election for Barkin Ladi Riyom Federal Constituency.

Fom had challenged the victory of Peter Gyenden of the PDP on the ground that he was not validly nominated.

    Wombo’s victory affirmed:

The National/State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Makurdi, Benue State, has upheld the election of Solomon Wombo of AD in the KatSina-Ala/Ukum/Logo Federal Constituency.

The Chairman of the panel, Justice Ory’zik Ikeorha, said the petitioners, Richard Gbande, and the PDP, failed to prove their case.

Justice Ikeorha said 17 of the 19 witnesses called by the petitioner filed their written addresses out of time.

She said while some of the paragraphs of the petition were complaints on polling units, many others were generic and without basis.

Justice Ikeorha said: “The reliefs sought are hereby refused, the petition stands dismissed in entirety, no order of cost.”

INEC had declared Wombo as winner of the election with 59,939 votes while Gbande came second with 39,414 votes.

    Akpatason, Iyawe survive:

The National/House of Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal in Benin, Edo State affirmed the re-election of the House of Representatives member from Akoko-Edo Constituency, Peter Akpatason, of the APC.

The petition by LP’s Omobayo Marvellous Godwin, was dismissed by Justice Yusuf Mohammed.

The tribunal also dismissed the petition of APC’s Osaro Osazee against the election of LP’s Esosa Iyawe, the representative of Oredo Constituency in the House of Representatives, for lacking merit.

Delivering the unanimous judgment, Justice K.A. Leweanya held that the tribunal lacked jurisdiction to entertain the petition because it was a pre-election matter.

He said the qualification of Iyawe ought to have  been challenged at the Federal High Court

APC, PDP candidates sacked in Delta

In Asaba, the tribunal  nullified the election of the member representing Ughelli/Udu Constituency in the House of Representatives, Rev. Francis Waive.

The PDP candidate, Chief Solomon Awhinawhi, had challenged the declaration of Waive of the APC as winner.

Waive’s election was nullified on grounds of improper documentation and declared Awhinawhi winner.

The tribunal ordered a re-run at Enwhe Ward 09, Isoko South Local Government Area in Isoko Federal Constituency,

The candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Mr Dickson Ebegbare, had challenged the declaration of Jonathan Ukodhiko of the PDP as winner.

Ebegbare argued that Ukodhiko was not duly elected by lawful votes, insisting that elections did not hold in Enhwe.

The tribunal held that INEC ought to have conducted a rerun in Enhwe .

Justice R O Odogo, who delivered the judgment in Kano, declared that APC’s  petition  was incompetent,  adding that the burden of proof was not discharged.

He said: “We find no merit in this petition and accordingly, it is hereby dismissed. We affirmed the declaration of Abdulrahman Kawu Sumaila of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) as the winner of the Kano South Senatorial District election, held on 25th Feb. 2023.”

The tribunal awarded N200,000 cost against respondent.

The election of another Kano NNPP House of Representatives member, Idris Dankawu, was voided.

Dankawu, according to the tribunal  forged his West African School Certificate, (WAEC) when he  contested the election in Kumbotso Constituency.

The petitioner, Munir Babba Danagudi, had alleged that the respondent forged the Secondary School Certificate to secure admission into Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria, Kaduna State.

Justice I.P Chima, who delivered the judgment, agreed with the petitioner and voided the respondent’s victory while directing INEC to set aside the Certificate of Return issued to him and declare Danagudi the winner.

    Oborevwori goes to Supreme Court

Delta State Governor  Sheriff Oborevwori has filed a Notice of Appeal at the Supreme Court against the judgment of the Court of Appeal, Abuja, which ordered the Delta State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal to hear on merit, the petition filed by the LP candidate, Ken Pela, challenging his election.

Oborevwori, in the Notice of Appeal filed by his lead counsel, Mr. Damian Dodo (SAN), stated that the appellate court erred in making an order for a retrial in the LP’s petition.

A three-man panel of the Court of Appeal, led by Justice M L Shuaibu, had in a judgment delivered on August 31, faulted the decision of the tribunal to dismiss the case of the petitioners on claims that the petition was abandoned because the petitioners’ application for pre-hearing session was not properly filed.

The appellate court ordered that the petition be taken back to the tribunal for hearing within the time stipulated in the Electoral Act.

Dissatisfied with the decision of the Court of Appeal, the governor filed a Notice of Appeal at the Supreme Court where he is seeking an order of the court allowing the appeal.

He also asked the court to set aside the judgment of the Appeal Court and affirmed the decision of the tribunal delivered on July 6.

  • PDP kicks against plan to set up Fulani colonies in Benue

PDP kicks against plan to set up Fulani colonies in Benue

The Benue State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party,  PDP,  has rejected a plan by the Federal Government to set up a Fulani colony in the state.

In a statement, the state Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Bemgba Iortyom in Makurdi, the PDP said: “Benue has no such indigenous Fulani population with land holdings where such a colony could be established.

The statement reads in part: “It is no longer news that the All Progressives Congress (APC)- controlled administration of President Bola Tinubu has earmarked Benue as one among a few states where a Federal Government sponsored settlement for Fulani herdsmen is to be established.

Vice President Kashim Shettima said at a public function in Maiduguri last week that President Tinubu has approved the construction of 1,000 houses in Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina, Zamfara, Kaduna, Niger and Benue states with the ancillary facilities of schools, clinics, veterinary clinics and ranches for the Fulani community.

The establishment of those Fulani colonies, according to VP Shettima, is “part of a broad plan by the Federal Government to address the conflict in the North”.

Read Also: Navy denies fake recruitment exercise, warns Nigerians

But for the people of Benue State there is more darkness than light surrounding this planned Fulani community, and the reasons are not far-fetched.

Firstly, the absence of a peer-to-peer basis for the inclusion of Benue, among the other selected states which all have large indigenous Fulani populations with substantial land holdings on which such colonies could be sited, while Benue does not have such a situation.

In other words in those other states, it could be natural to have such colonies where a Fulani population is already in situ and which would seamlessly be accommodated therein.

Benue has no such indigenous Fulani population with land holdings where such a colony could be established.

Secondly, it is unjust and ultimately insensitive to have a colony established for the Fulani with all the facilities for modern living in a state where victims of the genocidal atrocities committed by those same Fulani are still displaced from their lands and means of livelihood and living in sub-human conditions in camps which bear semblance to the concentration camps of Nazi Germany during 2nd World War.

In May 2018 the then Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who visited Benue made a commitment on behalf of the Buhari administration to resettle those displaced back to their lands and as well made a pledge of 10 billion to them.

“That promise by VP Osinbajo has not been fulfilled and the displaced persons in the IDP camps are still even to date being attacked and killed by Fulani herdsmen in the camps and dare not venture near their plundered and desolate ancestral lands to scavenge for food.

“It is inhuman to even contemplate settling those oppressors in comfort while their victims are languishing in hellish conditions, and this amounts to thumbing-up criminality while rubbing the nose of the victim into his blood spilled by the oppressor.

“Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state puts to Alia that he is the one who put Benue on that list of Fulani colonisation to fulfill his promise to Fulani lobby groups to accommodate herdsmen in the state in return for their support and sponsorship during his campaigns at the last elections.

“PDP, therefore, demands that Alia should remove Benue from that list of colonisation, as the people had during the Buhari administration rejected such attempts to have herdsmen colonies in the state.

“Benue had rejected Ruga, the Water Resources Bill, Cattle Colony, Grazing Routes and every form of Fulani colonisation.

PDP reiterated that Benue does not need a Fulani colony, what the state needs is Alia’s fulfillment of his promises to IDPs to resettle them on their ancestral lands.

“Benue will resist attempts by Alia and his allies in Abuja to settle Fulani herdsmen on land they displaced from through killings and plunder.

“It is the understanding of the party that as reflected in the principle driving the Prohibition of Open Grazing and Ranches Establishment Law, Fulani are permitted to live and do lawful business in the state, it is, however, such policies as will negates such principle of peaceful coexistence that will be resisted by the people.

The party expects that the governor is aware of the deadly serious nature of this matter and that he cannot afford to dismiss it and attempt to have a Fulani colony established on any inch of Benue soil.

PDP faults Tinubu’s legal team claim on PEPC judgment

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has faulted the All Progressives Congress (APC) explanation on the Tinubu Presidential Legal Team (TPLT) header inscription on the Certified True Copies (CTC) of the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) judgement.

The party stated this in a statement by it National Publicity Secretary, Mr Debo Ologunagba in Abuja on Monday.

Ologunagba said that the PDP had meticulously examined the inscription of the header of TPLT on the Certified True Copies (CTC) of the Wednesday’s judgement.

He said that the admission of the Tinubu Legal Team (TLT) that it scanned and watermarked its copy of the judgment with the inscription, “Tinubu Presidential Legal Team ‘TPLT’ was self-indicting.
“The rush by the TPLT in admitting that it imprinted on the CTC of the judgment smacks of a desperate attempt to dispel public scrutiny and ward off the possibility of more revelations regarding the issue.
“The PDP and indeed majority of Nigerians are not satisfied with the claims by the TPLT,” he said.(NAN)

The communique said: “At this time, we feel what is good for the state is for our governor, Senator Adeleke, to eschew partisanship and provide good governance for all and sundry.
