  • Earning customer’s loyalty

There are so many consumers who have stuck to the same brand for years. Most of them got introduced to the brand from childhood and grew up trusting the brand. As adults with family they introduced the same brand to members of their family.

Most of us got introduced to Peak milk, Omo detergent, Bournvita, Fanta drink, Maggi seasoning, Gala sausages, Thermocool, etcetera by our parents. Years after, our children saw us using them and now they are also using the same products.

Earning customer loyalty is not easy. It is not a day’s job. It entails a lot of sacrifices from the brand. As most marketers have experienced at some point, it is one thing to hook customers, another beast completely to retain them. Improving customer loyalty should be a priority, or those customers you worked so hard to convert could vanish before you even know what happened.

To avoid that, here are ways to better your company’s customer loyalty.

    Share your values

To build a strong relationship with your customers, you have to share their values. In fact, shared values are ”far and away the largest driver.” If you want loyal customers, you need to tell them what your brand stands for.

    Provide excellent customer service

Sounds obvious, right? But, it deserves mention again because excellent service is what creates lifelong customers, avoids negative word-of-mouth and differentiates you from the competition. But, how can you improve customer service? For starters, listen to customers and address their concerns a timely manner. Make it easy for customers to get in touch with a representative. Clearly display an email address, phone number and social media account. You have to “wow” them by going above and beyond.

    Be transparent

There will be days when things don’t go as planned. Instead of denying the problem, be honest with your customers about the bad news.

    Create a sense of community

With so many social media platforms, there is no excuse for not creating a community. Building customer loyalty is an effective way to start a conversation with your customers and encourage user-generated content. For example, you can ask customers to share pictures of them using your product and sharing it on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, etc.

    Get their email addresses

One of the easiest ways to keep in touch with customers is through your email. Ask for addresses after completing purchases so you can keep customers updated on new products or follow-up with them after a sale to ask how was their experience. This information can be used to improve customer satisfaction and keep your current customers happy.

    Exceed expectations

You’ve probably heard the cliché that businesses should “under promise and over deliver”. You can accomplish this by simply exceeding expectations. If you state a customer service rep will get back to the customer within 24 hours, and the rep gets in touch within six hours, that’s exceeding customer expectations. “Do what you say you’re going to do.”

    Don’t neglect existing customers

It’s incredibly easy to forget your existing customers when you’re busy trying to reach new customers. To avoid frustrating your loyal customers, make sure that your product or service doesn’t diminish over time.

    Have the right employees

Employees are extremely important for improving customer loyalty. Employees who buy into the culture are more likely to share their excitement with friends, family and customers that they’re assisting. Make sure your employees have the proper training and tools to enhance the customer experience.

    Get personal

Studies have proved that personalised emails have a transaction rate. This could be addressing them by name, sending them a birthday greeting or an offering a coupon on the anniversary of when they became a customer. Customers appreciate the personalised messages that you send them because it can help create an emotional bond.

    Be an expert

Let’s say you’re buying a new television, but have some questions. Would purchase the TV from the company who answered all of your questions or the company who couldn’t give you an answer? You’re probably more likely to support the company who addressed all of your concerns. If you want to attract and retain customers, you should become a reputable and trusted expert in your field by making sure employees are knowledgeable and sharing your expertise on question/answer sites or writing blog posts.

    Offer incentives

You want to give customers a reason to keep coming back. And, that’s when incentives come into play. It could be something as simple as a discount on their next purchase or giving them a free drink after their tenth purchase.

    Ask for their feedback

How do you know what customers like or dislike about your products? How do they feel about your customer service? If you aren’t aware of this information, then how can you make the appropriate changes to make your customers more satisfied? Whenever a customer completes a sale, ask them for their feedback through an email questionnaire or an online survey on your website.

    Be reliable

Earn a reputation for being consistent and dependable. This means if you promise a product to be delivered within 48 hours after the purchase, then make sure delivery occurs within that time frame. If you promise 24/7 live customer support, then make sure that is a promise that you can keep.  If something changes or your business changes due to unforeseen changes, let your customers know and be very open with them.

    Spend more time with customers

Spending time with customers can serve several purposes. For starters, you can find out what made them become customers of yours in the first place. This information could be used to generate future content and marketing campaigns. You could also ask them to share their experiences for testimonials or case studies. This ensures you’ll keep your current customers happy because you’re taking the time to listen to their needs or hear their stories.

    My Mum, my heart

There are women everywhere, but mothers are rare to find. Mothers are a bundle of emotions that sometimes defy reason. A mother is the best friend anyone could ever ask for. When everyone else turns away, she will always turn towards you. When you fall, she’s the one that helps you up and when your heart is filled with despair, she’s the one that gives you a glimpse of hope.

At a time when society urges women to seek their worth and personal fulfilment in things that take them away from their families, real mothers stick to their children. My mum has been there from my first breath to my first broken heart. She sees right through me and always knows what’s wrong. Then reassures everything will be alright even when she doesn’t know what went wrong.

One thing we always forget to do is tell our mothers how thankful we are for everything. On Mothers’ Day, the world sets aside one day to do what we should do every single day; tell our mums that we love them and that that will never change.

Thank you mum for teaching me how to read even before I got into school. Thank you for being always proud of me when I read to people so early in age and they marvel. Thank you for your heartache and worries to watch me disappear down the street, walking to school alone for the very first time.

    9. ABACHAThank you for crying silently when I seemed to have gone astray. Thank you for bringing me back to my senses through your love and understanding. Thank you for staying awake all night whenever I fell sick and constantly uttering those compassionate and reassuring words, “Mommy’s here.”

Thank you for making me who I am today. You were there for my first breath, I promise to be there for your last, and we will be together for everything in between.

  • Get creative; get peak

    Get creative; get peak

2017 is gradually dragging on and we are getting the full vibe of the year. At the opening of the year, many resolutions were made.
Johnbull Okafor resolved to expand his business from a tiny shop into a warehouse in order to make more money and live a better life.
Funke Williams, a manager in an advertising agency plans to set up her smoothie business in 2017. Ogbonnaya Micheal wants to relocate to Canada, Olasunkanmi Jibril is planning to enroll for a MBA programme, Bolu John wants to stop smoking and Dolapo Ojo resolved to live a healthier life by reducing her weight.
These are beautiful resolutions, but the question is how far have they gone in making that resolution a reality? That brings us to the key elements needed in making true our resolutions; and the chiefest among them is creativity.
A great intention not backed up with creative approaches might definitely fail. In January when Uche Agbaragu was planning to set up a Coffee Bar, he had to study the environment, creatively picked his location, understood the target audience and the designed the most creative way of reaching them at minimal cost. He also used influencers to draw people into the bar, and today, the business is gradually picking up. He spent half the money he would have spent if doing the business conventionally. That is the power of creativity. Less effort, more result. Less marketing, more prospects.
In any resolutions you have made, there is the need to look at the best creative approach to make it a reality, and then break the approach into simple actionable plans.
However, in order to make that sound creative decision, you need to be nourished physically and mentally; and that’s where Peak Milk comes in.
Peak Milk is strongly formulated to give stronger body and sharper mind; not just through the traditional bread and tea, but now also through #pecadomo; that is the creative way of using Peak Milk in the preparation of traditional meals like rice, pounded yam, fufu, eba, amala, semo, eggs and pap. Wow!
Using Peak Milk in the preparation of these staple foods ensure that consumers get all-round great nutrition; and that is the smartest way to a great-healthy lifestyle and fulfilled dreams. Peak Milk make the foods more nourishing, nutritious and gives the creative power needed to plan and take the future.
In the words of Tunde Abolaji, a Lagos-based nutrition and lifestyle expert, ‘a malnourished mind cannot produce great idea!’
    Go get Peak!

    Hmmm. Valentine in this economy!

However, since you can give without love and can’t love without giving, what are you giving to that special person in your life?

Let me guess. Nice perfume? (Ok). Red Flower? (Duh!). Cool wrist watch? (Fine). Boxers and singlet? (Hell No!). A dinner in a highbrow restaurant? (Maybe). A book? (Sounds cool)… Well, here’s a piece of good news.

Valentine’s Day gifting has just been made easier by Peak Milk.
    How? A Valentine getaway promo?
No darling. Ok, here is it.
The Nigerian economy is practically crawling and this is the time to spend with sense. There is need to keep expenses low and maximise resources. So how about making a special Peak Milk meal for that special person that always makes you smile; under a romantic atmosphere? How about saying ‘I love you’ with a brand that cares for your soul; and also nourishes your body.

    6. Milk-Rice
Yes. Traditional Nigerian dishes can now be prepared with Peak Milk, and that means with a single Peak meal, we are assured of super nutrients and enriching vitamins that will put our body, hearts and minds in proper shape to love.

  • 2017: Another chance to get it right

2017: Another chance to get it right

It was 31st of December and the time to celebrate the end of a challenging year, and maybe set a new goal for the next 365 days. Tito sat, drunk in a Surulere bar with his jolly friends, their tables filled with different kinds of alcoholic beverages. Each, narrating the challenges the year had brought and how they survived it. The conversation drifted to making plans for the incoming year. Part of the plans for Tito was to drop-down his alcoholic consumption which had consistently drained his pocket. And bla bla bla.
New resolutions have been made, with plans to embrace new attitudes. The key challenge is following the resolutions to the end. About 60% of New Year resolutions are abandoned after 1-2 months, and another 20% after 3 months. Only a meagre percentage follow through to the end of the year. The key problem is our refusal or rather ignorance to create a solid roadmap on how to actualize the resolutions. Tito and friends never did that and there are possibilities that their resolutions might fail. They might just hit the bar again the following weekend.
However, Funke, my friend had an intriguing resolution; she wants a healthier lifestyle for herself and her family. Wow! As simple as it sounds; it requires a high level of hard work. That means sound body and sound mental health which would eventually trigger long life and prosperity.
‘Interesting! So what’s your strategy?’ I asked
    ‘My key strategy is pecadomo’.
    ‘Peca what?’
‘Pecadomo’ meaning Peak Can Do More!
pecadomia7Funke is a busy mum between 25-45; health-conscious, upwardly-mobile. She knows that ‘the family’s health is the mother’s scorecard’, and will do everything to keep her family healthy and happy. Funke lectured me that young and trendy mums all over the country are embracing the use of Peak Milk beyond the traditional bread and tea, and Peak Milk is now used to prepare traditional foods like eba, semo, amala, pounded yam, et al.
‘So why Peak and not other milk brands?’ I quizzed
‘Peak is an iconic brand of great quality and pedigree, nurturing generations since 1954 and produced under strict hygiene, the company adhering strictly by international policies’
    ‘Really?!’ I was impressed.

‘Yes’. Funke preached on. ‘And Pecadomo is a great strategy of meeting the nutritional needs of every family member as critical nutrients are situated at key gastronomic touchpoints. Its the right thing to do in this age when we hardly have time for decent meals’. She nailed it.
It’s a new year and another chance to get it right. A fresh start. A new chapter in life waiting to be written. New questions to be asked, embraced and loved. Answers to be discovered and then lived in this transformative year of delight and self-discovery.
For me, I have decided to innovate. Trying new things, learning, living, pushing myself, changing myself, changing our world; however to do that, there is need for stronger body and sharper mind; and Peak Milk is equipped to enhance my mental and physical performances; giving me sound mind and sound body.
    A wholesome health for innovation!
‘A toast to a healthier 2017’. I raised my glass of Peak smoothie to Funke.
‘Its always in you’ she replied, smiling, and clicking my cup.

Over 80 schools, including Lagos Preparatory School, Ikoyi and Brainsfield Montessori School, Akowonjo have benefitted so far, It is an initiative that is designed to encourage Nigerians to embrace a healthy lifestyle and also keeps them fully motivated and inspired for future Challenges.

In recent times, Peak milk has activated various programmes and campaigns to encourage Nigerians to embrace a healthier lifestyle though Peak milk consumption. One of such initiative is Pecadomo (Peak can do more), which enlightens Nigerians on versatility of Peak milk. The campaign focuses on different ways in which consumers can use Peak milk to further enrich their different meals.

  • Pecadomo showcases Peak’s creativity

    Pecadomo showcases Peak’s creativity

Peak milk, a dairy brand on the stable of Friesland Campina Wamco has successfully launched a nationwide campaign in deepening milk consumption amongst Nigerians.

The brand’s new initiative tagged Pecadomo— PEakCAn DO More and launched in Lagos recently has traversed the nooks and crannies of Nigeria in an exciting experiential brand activation in selected neighbourhoods, city centres and villages across Nigeria.

Not only that, the Peak Can Do More campaign team took the initiative to schools and markets in a drive to create a firsthand experience for target audiences on the various uses of milk.

Specifically, the campaign was taken round the country to create awareness on the various health benefits of milk vis-à-vis newer ways of using milk in different diet.

Through this innovative campaign, Peak milk has shown that it does not only taste great but can make practically every Nigerian dish taste better and increase nutritional value.

The addition of Peak Milk to everyday carbonhydrate meals like Semolina, Pounded Yam, Tuwo and Rice creates a creamier and more flavoured meal. In Mrs Folashade Obafemi‘s case, being married to a man who prefers to swallow, she learned to get creative with making Semolina by adding Peak Milk.  “Unfortunately, my husband doesn’t eat draw soup so meals were becoming boring since it is either egusi or vegetable soup. The first time I heard that Peak Milk could be added to semo, I wondered how it would taste. The texture is so creamy. Besides being high in fibre, semo made with Peak milk is also nutritious for the family.”

Compared to other milk drinking countries, consumption of milk and knowledge of what milk can be used for is very low in Nigeria. With this campaign, Milk will not only be much more fun; but Nigerians from all walks of life will come to appreciate that this highly nutritious liquid, milk is a veryversatile food accompaniment.  And this is a win-win situation as they get better nutrition, more value for money and newer recipes.

“I love experimenting with food so you can imagine my joy when I learnt about the Pecadomo campaign. Whenever I am pregnant, I avoid eating mayonnaise. However, I love salads and coleslaw but have to avoid it for the nine months. Now, I substitute Peak Milk for mayonnaise. The funny thing is that my salads taste nicer and is cheaper to make because a tin of Peak milk is cheaper than the smallest jar of mayonnaise which like N500. In a recession like now, options like these are needed. That’s where Pecadomo comes in,” saidMrs. Hannah Osasu, in Surulere.

With the rise in cost of living, pocket-friendlier options become necessary and many have learnt the various foods milk can be used to substitute.

Mary Oluwagbemiga is a student at Yabatech. She bakes to augment her school fees since her parents live in Akure. Recently, the price of eggs went up and for cakes, eggs are required. Hear her: “In order not to hike my prices too much, I started using Peak milk to replace eggs. Peak milk is thick and creamy and excellent for baking. Now, more people prefer to order my cakes saying they are creamier. That’s more money for me and less stress”.

A mother of four and businesswoman in Ogba, Mrs. Oby Asombahas to deal with picky eating in her children, especially as they dislike eggs.  “I insist they eat eggs but they always waste them. So through Pecadomo, I learnt how to use Peak Milk to make scrambled eggs and that made all the difference. Now, I get to use less eggs and get better volume. Also the eggs are fluffier and have more flavour. My kids now enjoy eating eggs which is good for me since they get their daily protein requirements and don’t waste food anymore.”

Surprisingly, some people admit that milk might be more than just a food source but might also be medicinal. Mr. O. Michael, a Festac-based businessman confesses that there was a time he had low sperm count. “I read in one of these herbal treatment booklets that mixing Peak milk with stout could boost it. I really don’t know the chemical explanation but I tried it and it worked.”

It also re-invents various local drinks and quick meals into more filling meals that can in the long run save cost especially in a recession like ours.  Mixing some Peak Milk into a glass of Kunu drink, fruit smoothie, coleslaw or Abacha (African Salad) means the consumer gets all the health benefits of these already nutritious foods plus the great benefits of milk and a delicious taste too.

Everyday drinks like smoothies and Hausa millet drink (kunu) can be made to taste better and more nutritious with the addition of Peak Milk.  For Thelma Ekanem, a lawyer based in Oniru Estate, Lekki, smoothies became a part of her daily diet due to her hectic work schedule and weight loss plans. “I usually buy a glass of smoothie for about N1,500 here in Oniru but with this recession, one had to get more prudent. I learnt to make my own smoothie with fruits and recently, adding Peak Milk. The taste is heavenly and very healthy too. Imagine the goodness of fruits and milk in a glass! Now, with about N500, I can have my Peak milk smoothies everyday.”

Alhaji Usman Mukthar, a Bureau de Change operator in Ojodu-Berger grew up in the north and loved drinking kunu. He said:  “I have been in Lagos now for over 15 years and I still really love Kunu. Unfortunately, I hardly get the kind of kunu I’m used to. The addition of Peak milk to the kunu just changes the taste. I recently found a joint where they served kunu with Peak milk. I go there everyday after my business.”

Milk still remains one of the best sources of essential minerals and nutrients like Saturated fat, Polyunsaturated fat, Monounsaturated fat, Cholesterol, Sodium, Potassium, Carbohydrate, Protein, Vitamin A, Calcium, Vitamin B-6, Vitamin B-12, Magnesium, Calcium, Potassium and Vitamin D which helps heart and bone health.

Over the last few months, the Pecadomo train has visited many neighbourhoods and markets across Lagos, Ibadan, Akure, Ilorin, Benin, Warri, Port-Harcourt, Onitsha, Uyo and Aba.  Recently, the Peak Milk team was in Next Cash and Carry supermarket and Sahad store, Abuja; Jifatu store, Kano.
