  • Phyno, Teni become TomTom brand ambassadors

    Two leading rap artists Phyno and Teni have been signed on by TomTom, the household candy brand of Cadbury Nigeria as its Brand Ambassadors at an unveiling ceremony in Lagos.

    The company revealed the desire to connect further with their consumers through music informed the engagement of the talented duo and they would be featured in the TomTom’s brand and marketing campaigns including advertisements and special appearances at the brand’s events.

    The Managing Director, Cadbury Nigeria Plc Mr. Amir Shamsi expressed his delight at the influence of the ambassadors on the objectives of the company for the TomTom brand.

    “The future is now. Despite being a candy of heritage, TomTom remains youthful and cool. The Nigerian entertainment industry has remained a major sector for the Nigerian youths to thrive and TomTom is very delighted to go all the way to showcase passion points of millions and hopefully contribute to the success of many more,” he said.

    Marketing Manager, Cadbury Nigeria Plc, Mr. Aruleba Olumide believes that the choice of Phyno and Teni is strategic to the new marketing objectives of the brand.

    “The choice of Phyno and Teni as brand ambassadors for the TomTom aligns with our mission to project the brand as youthful and cool. Phyno has taken rap in indigenous language to the next level since he broke into the Nigerian music industry. Today, he is easily one of the best rap acts in the country.

  • Flavour shuts down Anambra

    Highlife king Flavour Nabania has ended his year with a fun-filled, exciting concert in Anambra sponsored by Life Continental Beer.

    The show also featured other acts including the likes of Phyno, Chidinma, Obiligbo Brothers and Awilo Longomba.

    Flavour, who began his performance with a rendition of his fan-favorite song “Oyi”, electrified the stage as he thrilled fans all night long with his live instruments.

    The concert marked the end of a six-day period in which Life Beer provided southeasterners with non-stop entertainment. The week started with two “bridge of progress” parties in Anambra and Owerri, on the 26th and 28th respectively, before heading to Awka, Anambra for the Flavour of Africa concert.

    “Life Lager is the first beer to be brewed in the southeast of Nigeria,” said the Marketing Director, Nigerian Breweries, Plc, Emmanuel Oriakhi, after the concert.

    The trio of pop star Kiss Daniel, rapper Phyno and singer/songwriter Simi will be performing at the City of Friends event to mark this year’s World Friendship Day in Calabar and Lagos. The announcement was made during the press conference organised by “33” Export Lager beer to unveil their World Friendship Day flagship event tagged City of Friends at the Nigerian Breweries HQ in Lagos.

    The artistes while expressing their excitement on the World Friendship Day celebration via their social media pages promised to thrill their teeming fans at both cities. ”We are thrilled to be hosting the City of Friends. This has been a core theme of our brand and we revel in bringing these friendship experiences to our customers across the country,” said Portfolio Manager, Mainstream Lager and Stout Brands, NB Plc, Emmanuel Agu.

    He further noted that “33” Export Lager beer does not just want to celebrate friends on billboards and magazines, but opted to create a city, an enclosed funfair, for friends where great memories can be shared.” The artistes will be thrilling their fans with songs from their latest albums. Phyno will be expected to drop songs Fada Fada, Authe as well as his most recent track NWA. X3M Music act Simi who is loved for her soulful tunes such as Tiff, Jamb Question, Joromi and many others will also grace the stage to delight all in attendance.

    In the last two years, Kiss Daniel has proven to be a certified hit maker and will entertain the crowd with tracks like Yeba, Baba, among several others. Wasiu Alabi Pasuma might be a Fuji act, but his ability to cross over into hip hop and pop is one of the characteristics that have endeared him to millennial generation. With a career spanning over two decades, fans are in for a swell time at the friendship parties. MC Galaxy too would be on ground to deliver comedy and music. The City of Friends event holds at the Municipal Gardens in Calabar this weekend, while the Lagos event will hold at the Eagles’ Club in Surulere on 3rd and 4th August.

    Top singers, Kizz Daniel, Phyno and Simi have been billed to perform at the City of Friends event to mark this year’s World Friendship Day in Calabar and Lagos.

    Tagged City of Friends, the event which is scheduled to hold at the Municipal Gardens in Calabar, today, July 28 and tomorrow, Sunday, July 29. The Lagos event will hold at the Eagles’ Club in Surulere on August 3 and 4, 2018. The show is organised by “33” Export Lager Beer.

    Announcing the show at Nigerian Breweries headquarters recently, the Portfolio Manager, Mainstream Lager and Stout Brands, NB Plc, Emmanuel Agu, noted that the City of Friends show has been a core theme of the brand and “we revel in bringing these friendship experiences to our customers across the country.”

    Award-winning Nigerian rapper, Phyno has been made the face of leading Southeast premium beer brand, Life Continental Lager Beer, a product of Nigerian Breweries Plc.

    This deal which was signed at the company’s corporate head office in Lagos on May 31, will have the artiste function as new ambassador of the brand, featuring in Life Continental Beer advertising and marketing campaigns, and making special appearances at the product’s events.

  • Flavour, Phyno, Runtown stage homecoming as they perform at Enugu Glo show

    It will be homecoming of sorts for the trio of Flavour, Phyno and Runtown as the Glo Mega Music Nationwide Tour goes to Enugu this Saturday.

    The show organised by Nigeria’s foremost telecommunications company, Globacom, will be featuring these highflying musicians who started their musical careers in Enugu. They will be performing in the coal city alongside other topflight entertainers.

    The Enugu edition of the Glo Mega Music Nationwide Tour will be held at Golden Royal Hotel in the bursting city at 4.00 p.m. The show will be compered by two of Nigeria’s best known Nollywood faces, Ebube Nwagbo and Uche Jombo, while  three other Nollywood icons, Angela Okorie, Patience Ozokwor (Mama G) and Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) will make celebrity guest appearances.

    The full list of entertainers billed to thrill Enugu includes Korede Bello, Runtown, Tuface, Timaya, Phyno, Flavour and Olamide.

    “Enugu show is loaded and we are hopeful that our esteemed subscribers who will throng the venue of the show will have adequate value for their time,” Globacom said in a statement released from its head office in Lagos.

    “Enugu is very strategic to the Glo business and these artistes are ready in all ramifications to give all the people coming for the show world-class entertainment. Incidentally, three of the artistes, Runtown, Phyno and Flavour, had their formative years in the city. For their fans in the city and beyond, the show affords them the rare opportunity of touching base with their icons”, the company said.

    One of the show headliners, Flavour, spoke of his eagerness about the Enugu show.

    He said, “I am very excited to go to Enugu. This is like going back to my roots and I cannot wait to see not only my fans in the city but those old folks we grew up together in Enugu. It is going to be a show like never before for all of us.”

    Fun seekers in Akure, the Ondo State capital enjoyed one of the best live performances in recent times, when top-rated artistes converged on the South West city for the Globacom – sponsored Nationwide Mega Music show at the weekend.

    Revelers who relished every moment say the Akure edition of the 27-city show which held at the Golden Events Centre, was the biggest musical concert ever held in the city in modern times.

    It was a positive invasion of the environment by stars which the people of Akure and environs may never have had the opportunity to see and experience live, but Globacom, the fastest growing data network, made it possible with the show, which was staged free of charge for the benefit of subscribers.

    Phyno, Timaya, Yemi Alade, Runtown , Korede Bello and Olamide were the stars of the night.  They were simply magical as they mesmerized the star-struck audience.

    Phyno was an improved version of himself during his over thirty minutes on stage. The audience, made up of the young and the young at heart joined the sterling performance by singing every line along with him. His chart busters, Connect, Alobam, Ezege, and Fada fada, were  instant hits with the crowd.

    The   Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa, Timaya, also showed a lot of class and justified his inclusion on the A-list of Nigerian music artistes, and also justified why Globacom took him on the tour. He took the Ondo people on a musical and philosophical experience they would not forget in a long time.  Olamide showed why he was called the Kings of the Streets . He took the concert back to the streets and engaged the youths with their own language, meeting them on their own turf.

    MTV African Music Awards 2015 and 2016 winner, Yemi Alade, connected in a very special way with the people when she announced to the delight of the audience: “I am your daughter and your sister and I am delighted coming to my roots,  and I thank Globacom once again for this opportunity to see my people; I love you all”.

    She revealed that she was indigene of Ondo State and praised Globacom for bringing her back home.

    “I am happy that Glo brought me back home. If my daddy were to be alive today, he would be happy that his daughter is back home,” she enthused.

    By the end of the evening, the fans went home drenched, but obviously, relished the energy and fun of the concert. Actresses Uche Jombo and Juliet Ibrahim were the Masters of Ceremony, while the most celebrated Yoruba movie star, Odunlade Adekola, made celebrity guest appearance.
