    Police disrupt street carnival in Lagos

    The Lagos State Police Command has arrested three persons, including a teenager for allegedly staging a street carnival which caused disturbance of public peace.

    The command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest in a statement yesterday.

    Hundeyin said that operatives of the command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) carried out the arrest about 12:23 p.m. yesterday on Abatti Street, Shasha Akowonjo area of Lagos State.

    He said that staging of the carnival was in total disregard for some laws of Lagos State.

    According to Hundeyin, the arrested persons are all male and aged 16, 42 and 43.

    He said that the arrest was sequel to the directive of the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Adegoke Fayoade, to the Commander of RRS, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi, to bring to book any person found attempting to break the laws.

    “CP Fayoade had earlier met with organisers of the carnival, advising them on the need to get a hall for the carnival and stay away from shutting streets or disturbing public peace.

    “The suspects are to be arraigned at the conclusion of investigations,” he said.

    Police hunt for kidnappers of Imo traditional ruler

    CP Aboki Danjuma, the commissioner of police for Imo state, has dispatched the Command’s Special Tactical Squad to apprehend the culprits behind the abduction of Eze Samuel Ohiri, the Traditional Ruler of Orodo autonomous community and former chairman of the state council of traditional rulers. 

    Eze Ohiri was abducted in his palace on Saturday. 

    Danjuma on Saturday called on the general public, the family and relatives of Eze Ohiri to remain calm as the command is on top of the situation and has taken affirmative investigative steps towards ensuring that the victim is rescued unhurt and his kidnappers are arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.

    He said more police operatives have been deployed to the Mbaitoli axis for robust visibility patrol to forestall similar occurrences. 

    Danjuma in a statement by the spokesman, Henry Okoye, reaffirmed the command’s steadfastness towards ensuring the maximum safety and security of all and sundry in Imo State. 

    CP Danjuma condemned the dastardly act in totality and vows that no stone would be left unturned until Eze Ohiri is released and his kidnappers brought to book.

    Anambra police command begins 2023/2024 recruitment Jan. 8-29

    Anambra State Police Command has called on indigenes of Anambra who applied for 2023/2024 recruitment into the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to visit its command office in Awka from January 8 to 29 for the recruitment processes.

    The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports on Saturday in Awka that the information is contained in a press release made available to journalists by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Tochukwu Ikenga.

    According to the press release, applicants for recruitment as general duty or specialist constable are invited to a Physical/Credential screening exercise, running daily by 7am at the Police Command headquarters, Amawbia.

    The affected candidates are advised to check their application status on the recruitment portal, www.policerecruitment.gov.ng, and print their invitation slip and make themselves available at the screening venue in their clean white T-shirts and shorts with the following mandatory requirements:

    “Two white flat files with a recent passport photograph attached, Evidence of physical/mental fitness from a government-recognized Medical Hospital, Evidence of Good character from the Village/District Head of the applicant.

    “Certificate of Origin duly signed by the Local Government Chairman or Secretary, National Identity Number (NIN) – Slip Print-out, Original and duplicate copies of credentials (O Level Result(s), Birth Certificate/Declaration of Age).

    “Printed out the application form, Duly completed Guarantor’s form and Invitation slip,” the press release indicated.

    The command warned that any candidate who fails to present any of the requirements will not be considered for the exercise.

    The press release quoted Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Aderemi Adeoye, as saying that the recruitment exercise is free of charge, while advising applicants not to allow online fraudsters to swindle them.

    Adeoye, according to the press release, said that criminal elements, who might want to take advantage of the recruitment process to defraud innocent applicants may exist.

    He warned that anyone found wanting will be arrested and prosecuted.

    The command has assured the public and applicants that the screening will be conducted in the best tradition of transparency and professionalism while candidates are advised to call or send WhatsApp/SMS messages to 08069794453 or 09060483893 for any inquiry.

    Police arrest three over conspiracy, cyberstalking, threat to life

    The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Center (NPF-NCC) has arrested three in connection with a case of conspiracy, cyber-stalking and threat to life.

    The police said the suspects were arrested, following a petition at the instance of Hon and Doctor Mrs. Seye Oladejo.

    The Force said the development is an onward fight against the menace of cyber-stalking, threat to life and blackmailing schemes operating in the guise of micro-blogging pages, and contending with the online safety of many.

    The suspects namely: Adebukola Kolapo, Nnedum Micheal Somtomchukwu and Isaac Akpokighe, all male of ages 27, 25 and 30 respectively, are members of a syndicate called Gistlover Family, responsible for the daily running of the Gistlover blog, a micro-blogging platform known for cyber-stalking, incitement, blackmail, and sundry, which has over the years been a cause for public outcry.

    Upon arrest, the police said the suspects revealed their various degrees of involvement in the conspiracy, corroborating the already available overwhelming evidences.

    According to a statement issued yesterday by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi: “The first suspect, Adebukola Kolapo a.k.a Omo-Oba Gistlover was responsible for the creation of over 80 percent of the Gistlover pages, thereby lending his digital footprint for the perpetration of the aforementioned criminal act.

    “Being on the pay roll of the said platform and having enjoyed incentives like car gifts and monies, Adebukola was saddled with the responsibility of scouting, editing and captioning contents, including the cyber stalking post made against the complainant, Hon. and Dr. Mrs Oluseyi Oladejo. Adebukola has also contributed in laundering monies gotten from the illegal scheme through various means.

    “In more developments, digital forensic analysis led to the recovery of eight (8) gist lover pages created on the instruction of the head of the syndicate by Adebukola, and wallet addresses used in laundering these monies.

    “The second suspect, One Nnedum Somtochukwu, also shared in the conspiracy, wherein at every point the page was taken down for certain infractions and violation of policies at the instance of reports from Law Enforcement Agencies, the suspect, using his platform, will by all means redirect traffic to the new page, helping the blog to evade sanctions.

    “Enjoying incentives like referrals for promotions from the head of the syndicate, Nnedum has also been found sharing contents, feed backs, and making defamatory remarks with the said head of the syndicate.

    “The third suspect, Isaac Akpokighe, a 30 years old male resident of Igando Lagos State unlike the duo above, is like hundreds of Nigerians whom having observed the lucrative nature of the blackmailing, cyber-stalking and false information market, decides to imitate the Gistlover blog. By so doing, he created several such pages and mirrored the activities of the blog, including reposting the defamatory and life-threatening post against the complainant and many other notable Nigerians. Digital forensics led to the recovery of four Gistlover pages created by Isaac Apkokogho”.

    Adejobi said the suspects will be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.

    Enugu Police recruitment exercise holds Monday

    Physical and credential screening of successful applicants for Police Command in Enugu State is scheduled to be held on Monday, The Nation has learnt.

    Confirming this development, the Command’s spokesman, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, on Friday in Enugu, said it became necessary to inform applicants of Enugu State origin of the ongoing 2022 police constable into the general duty and specialist cadres of the physical and credential screening exercise which commence on Monday, January 8, 2024.

    “The screening will start by 7 a.m. daily at the Senior Police Officers Mess, Agbani road, Enugu. Accordingly, the applicants are requested to visit http://apply.policerecruitment.gov.ng to print their invitation slips and report to the mentioned venue on the date specified in their invitation slips, appearing in a clean white T-shirt and shorts,” he said.

    Ndukwe said that they should come along with the under-listed mandatory screening requirements, arranged in two flat files as follows:

    “Recent passport photographs; evidence of physical/mental fitness from a government-recognised medical hospital and evidence of good character from the applicant’s traditional ruler or village head.

    “Certificate of origin, duly signed by the applicant’s local government chairman or secretary; national identity number (NIN) slip and original and duplicates of credentials, including O’Level result(s), birth certificate or declaration of age.

    “Print-out of the application form, duly completed, the guarantor form and the invitation slip,” he stated.

    The command’s spokesman said that the applicants should note that anyone who failed to present the above-listed mandatory items would not be considered for the screening.

    “They are equally advised to pay attention and be guided by their scheduled dates and times, as well as other details and specified guidelines during the screening exercise,” he said.

    Bayelsa Police commences three-week screening of shortlisted candidates Monday

    The Bayelsa State Police Command will next Monday commence the screening of shortlisted candidates for recruitment into the constable cadre of the Nigeria Police Force.

    The Police Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa Command, Musa Mohammed, made the announcement in Yenagoa, the state capital, on Friday.

    Mohammed, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), said: “The Bayelsa State Police Command wishes to inform ‘Bayelsans’ and the general public, particularly those who applied for the ongoing recruitment into the Constable Cadre in the Nigeria Police Force to report to Police Officers Mess, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State by 7am daily.

    “The screening will run from Monday January 8 to January 29 2024.

    “Shortlisted candidates are to appear at the screening centres in their clean white T-shirts and shorts with the following mandatory screening requirements, neatly arranged into white flat files.

    The spokesman also advised the applicants to note their scheduled dates and time, as well as other details and specific guidelines on the screening exercise.

    “The Commissioner of Police Bayelsa State Command, Alonyenu Francis Idu, wishes to inform the applicants and the general public that the exercise is absolutely free. The applicants need to conduct themselves in an orderly manner to avoid acts capable of undermining the exercise,” Mohammed stated.

    The screening exercise which will take place between 8th to 29th January 2024 in all States of the Federation and FCT Abuja, the police said is aimed at examining the physical fitness and to cross check the credentials of all applicants shortlisted for the screening exercise.

    Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Center (NPF – NCC) has arrested three in connection with a case of Conspiracy, Cyberstalking, and threat to life. 

    The police said the suspects were arrested following a petition at the instance of Hon and Doctor Mrs. Seye Oladejo.

NPM, applauds the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Center led by CP Uche Ifeanyi Henry as he reaffirms the commitment of the Force to ensuring the safety of citizens in the physical and digital space”.

    Osun gets new Commissioner of Police 

     A new Commissioner of Police, Bzigu Dali Kwazhi, has been posted to Osun State to replace CP Isyaku Mohammed.

    Mohammed had assumed office in the state on Nov. 10, 2023.

    In a statement by SP Yemisi Opalola,  Osun Police Spokesperson, the new CP reported at the state police command in Osogbo on Thursday.

    “The deployment is sequel to the recent redeployment of former Commissioner of Police, CP Isyaku Mohammed,” she stated

    Opalola added that the new CP was born in Mildu Shalmi, Madagali L.G.A of Adamawa State.

    “The new Commissioner of Police holds  B.A in History/Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University Zaria and was SEC 45 alumnus of the prestigious National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) Kuru, Jos.

    “He joined the Nigeria Police Force in May 1992 as Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (Cadet ASP).
