    Portable arraigned for alleged assault, granted N2m bail

    Controversial singer Habeeb ‘Portable’ Okikiola was yesterday arraigned at the Isabo Magistrates’ Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

    The 30-year-old was declared wanted for allegedly assaulting officials of the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority (OGPDPA). He had ignored police invitations following the arrest and arraignment of nine of his protégés before an Abeokuta Magistrates’ Court.

    Portable was arraigned on a five-count charge: conspiracy, assault and restriction, armed with cutlasses and guns, conduct likely to cause harm. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

    His nine proteges were arraigned for similar charges on February 6. After pleading not guilty to the charges, his counsel, Oluwatoyin Ayodele, urged the court to grant him bail.

    Ayodele assured the court that the suspect “is now remorseful and has learnt his lessons.” Magistrate O. L. Oke granted N2million bail with one surety in the like sum.

    He adjourned the case till March 5 for trial.

    Habeeb Okikiola Olalomi is a young Nigerian singer, who is widely referred to as Portable.

    His rise to fame was in 2021 after the release of his monster hit, Zazoo Zeh, which features famous Nigerian rapper and record label executive, Olamide.

    From his first romance with fame, Portable had displayed uncommon love and affection for both controversy and shenanigans. He goes out courting trouble and ensures his social media audience are entertained till they are drained.

    The 31-year-old singer had always strolled on the fringes of controversy and trouble, hence, it came as no surprise whenever he’s at loggerheads with his colleagues.

    Few years before grabbing stardom, he was allegedly caught stealing a tricycle popularly known as keke napep in Lagos and was stripped naked after he was beaten by an irate mob.

    While many of his colleagues will be long forgotten if ever caught in just one of his litany of controversies, yet all these controversies never deterred the Ota, Ogun-state born singer, who possesses an uncommon voice.

    From police cells to court rooms, music booths, concert stages and nightclubs, Portable has had his fair share of controversy with almost everybody and anybody. His first manager parted ways with him over controversies bordering on allegations of reaping. His lawyers parted ways with him weeks after he took to his social media handle to heap praises on them, his benefactors regret having to deal with him, his automobile plug still laments his experience with him.

    Recently, Portable is in the news again and this time, his cup seems to be full again as he displayed the height of his maleficence traits when he called out his biological father and rained abuses on him for failing to get legal documents and government approved papers for some of his properties.

    Portable embarked on a long deal with the law when he and his men attacked officers of the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

    According to the Ogun State Police, Portable, armed with a firearm and other dangerous weapons, led a gang of nine thugs in a violent attack on the unarmed Ogun officials sustained various bodily injuries but managed to escape and reported the incident to the Ota Area Command.

    The recalcitrant singer refused arrest and scampered out of the area until he was declared wanted by the Ogun State Police command. On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, the singer turned himself in at the SCID, Yaba and was immediately whisked to Ogun State command headquarters in Elewe Eran.

    On Thursday, February 20, 2025, barely 24 hours after he submitted himself to the Police, Portable was arraigned at the Isabo Magistrate Court in Abeokuta, Ogun State. The controversial singer was arraigned on a five-count charge, including conspiracy, assault, armed conduct, and behavior likely to cause public harm. Despite pleading not guilty, his legal counsel, Oluwatoyin Ayodele, pleaded for bail, stating that Portable had shown remorse and learned his lesson.

    Magistrate O.L. Oke granted the singer bail in the sum of N2 million with one surety in like sum. The case was adjourned to March 5 for trial.

    It is unsure what is next in line for Portable’s web of controversies and trouble but the Ogun State government doesn’t seem ready to take it likely with the singer.

    Singer Portable has arrived at the Ogun State Police Command in Abeokuta to face questions over an attack on officials of the Town Planning Agency.

    Portable was declared wanted for assault on some officials of the state Town Planning Agency who were carrying out enforcement on his property in Ilogbo.

    In a statement yesterday, Ogun Police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed that Portable was in their custody.

    She said: “The Ogun State Police Command wishes to inform the public that Habeeb Okikiola, also known as Portable, arrived at the State Criminal Investigation Department, Eleweran, Abeokuta, at 13:23 hours on February 19.

    “His presence at the SCID is connected to an ongoing investigation. The command assures the public that due process will be followed in handling this matter, and updates will be provided as necessary.”

    Controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has turned himself in at the Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Yaba. 

    Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the development on Wednesday.

    “Portable just turned himself in at the SCID Yaba. We have contacted Ogun State Police Command to come pick him up,” he said.

    This came after Portable, in a video posted on Tuesday, described himself as a “madman” undergoing treatment at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta.

    He made the statement while pleading with Nigerians and the Ogun State Government following the police declaration that he was wanted. 

    Despite his plea, Omolola Odutola, the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, insisted that Portable surrender himself for investigation.

    Embattled singer Portable has pleaded for help after being declared wanted by the Ogun State Police Command.

    In a heartfelt plea via videos on Instagram, Portable shared his side of the story, denying any wrongdoing and claiming he’s being targeted by evil individuals.

    Portable expressed his frustration and fear, stating that he’s being persecuted despite being a law-abiding citizen who makes a living from his music.

    He emphasised that he’s not a thief or a killer and that he waits for his blessings while also blessing others.

    The singer also revealed that he’s being intimidated by unknown persons who showed up at his house, ordering him to vacate.

    Portable claimed that he’s not a troublemaker, but rather a superstar who’s being targeted by those who envy his success.

    Portable further revealed that he’s a patient at Aro Hospital, where he receives treatment for his mental health.

    He shared that he’s been certified as a patient and has a card to prove it.

    The singer appealed to the government and the public to intervene in his case, stating that he’s afraid of being locked up and is currently experiencing physical pain.

    Portable said: “Nigeria, this is when I need you people’s help. There’s no place like home, but ev!l people full home. Why only me? Why do I have issues in Nigeria? I do music for a living, I’m not a thief, I don’t kill people. I wait for my blessing. I bless people too. I don’t make trouble. People look for my trouble, I’m a superstar. God forgive me if I do any bad. After God, na government. They set me up with the government. I don’t have any issues with the government or police. Some people just came to my house, telling me to pack out. I’m not a criminal. I’m not feeling fine. And I’m afraid. I don’t want them to lock me up. I’m going through pain all over my body. I’m a Federal Government liability. I didn’t go to school, I’m a fashion designer.

    “I fear government. I am a federal government liability. Then I’m a madman; I have medications that I usually take. You can confirm from Aro Hospital. I have a card that certifies me as one of their patients.

    “I am from Abeokuta and they are taking care of me there. I am not a thief, I help people around me without even looking at their background.”

    Ogun police declare Portable wanted

    The Ogun State Police Command has declared controversial musician, Habeeb Okikiola, aka Portable, wanted over his alleged involvement in a violent attack on government officials.

    According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, Portable was accused of leading a gang of thugs to attack officials of the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development on an enforcement exercise in the Ota area of the State.

    The police alleged that Portable’s father was encountered by the officials at a bar in the area and claimed his son was not around. 

    However, Portable reportedly appeared soon after, armed with a gun and other weapons, and led the attack on the officials.

    The police stated that nine of Portable’s accomplices were arrested but that he escaped and has since gone into hiding. 

    Despite invitations to report to the police, Portable allegedly refused to do so, leading to the issuance of a court order declaring him wanted.

    The police are urging members of the public to provide any information that could lead to Portable’s arrest, warning that anyone found to be aiding or harbouring him would face legal consequences.

    “On February 5, 2025, at approximately 1000hrs, officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Ota Zonal Office

    were conducting an enforcement exercise at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota, when they encountered an elderly man, later identified as Portable’s father, at Odogwu Bar in the area. Upon identifying themselves and requesting the approved building plan, the father informed them that his son was unavailable.

    “However, moments later, Portable, armed with a firearm and other dangerous weapons, led a gang of nine thugs in a violent attack on the unarmed officials. The enforcement officers sustained various bodily injuries but managed to escape and reported the incident to the Ota Area Command, which subsequently escalated the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further action.

    “Nine accomplices were arrested, but Portable fled the scene and has since gone into hiding. Multiple formal invitations were sent to him, requesting his presence at the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, which he deliberately ignored without cause or legal representation.

    “Following his repeated evasion, the Ogun State Police Command has obtained a valid court order declaring him wanted.

    “Members of the public are strongly advised to assist the police by providing any valuable information that can lead to his immediate arrest. Anyone found aiding or harbouring the suspect will face legal consequences.

    “For any relevant information, kindly report to the nearest police station or contact the Ogun State Police Command through its official communication channels or police public relations department.”

    Controversial singer Portable has shared a photo from his place of hiding, following his recent troubles with the Ogun state government.

    In his post on Instagram, Portable expressed his resilience and determination, stating that pain only makes him stronger and that his prayers make him bigger.

    He also declared his faith in God, saying, “God never dies, I believe in Eledumare.”

    Controversial singer Portable has made an emotional plea to President Bola Tinubu, seeking his intervention in an ongoing dispute with the Ogun state government.

    The issue arose after the state government sealed his uncompleted building and hotel, citing illegal development without proper approval.

    In a humble tone, Portable stated: “Dapo Abiodun, your time in the office wouldn’t spoil. After God na government. Zazuu I dey humble”.
