    FG declares Tuesday, Wednesday public holiday

    The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, 5th and Wednesday, 6th July, 2016 as Public Holiday to mark Eid-el Fitri Celebrations.

    Minister of Interior, Lt Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (rtd), who made the declaration Thursday on behalf of the Federal Government, enjoined all Muslim faithful and Nigerians in general to extend the spiritual benefits of Ramadan, which are love, peace and justice to their daily living and through this contribute to the development of the nation.

    According to a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of    Interior, Bassey Akpanyung, the minister also urged all Nigerians to use the opportunity of this spiritual rejuvenation to reflect on the imperative of unity and peaceful co-existence in strengthening the bond of togetherness for a strong, virile Nation.

    Dambazau while wishing Nigerians a peaceful celebration, urged total support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s vowed determination to bequeath to the nation an enduring political legacy.

    FG declares Monday public holiday

    The Federal Government has declared Monday, May 30 as public holiday to celebrate the 2016 Democracy Day.

    The Minister of Interior, Retired Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government on Wednesday in Abuja.

    A statement signed by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mr Bassey Akpanyung, quoted the minister as wishing Nigerians happy democracy day celebration.

    He assured Nigerians that with the signing into law of the 2016 Appropriation Act, the country would witness a “New Deal” with its full implementation.

    The minister noted that the 2016 Appropriation Act was laced with social intervention programmes aimed at improving the living conditions of the populace.

    Dambazau congratulated Nigerians on the attainment of one year in office of President Muhammadu Buhari and enjoined all to continue to support the President in his sustained effort to build a peaceful, enduring and democratic legacy

    Public holiday in Osun

    The Osun State government yesterday declared today a public holiday to mark the Islamic New Year (Hijrah 1437).

    The governor, in a statement by the Director, Bureau of Communication and Strategy, Office of the Governor, Semiu Okanlawon, said the declaration followed the government’s practice to declare holiday for Muslims.

    The statement states: “The public holiday is to allow Muslim faithful to fully observe the celebration of the Islamic New Year.

    “The public holiday is in line with the policy thrust of the present administration which provides equal platforms for all religions to promote communal peace and progress.”

     

     

  • Thursday is public holiday

    The Federal Government has declared Thursday a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 55th Independence celebration.

    The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior Abubakar Magaji made the declaration yesterday on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement signed by the ministry’s Director of Press, Yusuf Isiaka.

    Magaji, who congratulated all Nigerians both at home and abroad, also thanked them for their supports to President Muhammadu Buhari in his efforts towards building a peaceful, united and virile nation.

    He urged them to use the occasion of the celebration to pray for peace and unity across the country.

    Fed Govt declares Friday as public holiday

    THE Federal Government has declared Friday as public holiday to celebrate the 2015 Democracy Day.

    The Minister of Interior, Abba Moro announced this on behalf of the Federal Government in a statement yesterday by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Abubakar Magaji.

    The statement urged Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora to support the incoming government and pray for the success of Nigeria’s democratic process.

    Moro used the opportunity to congratulate President Goodluck Jonathan and Nigerians for the successful conduct of the general elections.

    The Minister congratulated the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, on his electoral victory, wishing his administration good luck.

  • Edo declares public holiday for Buhari

    EDO State has declared a work-free today, to celebrate the victory of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, in the presidential election.

    The state governor, Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, invited people to a victory party, which will hold at the Oba Ovoranmwen Square, Benin City, starting from 3:00pm today.

  • Public holiday in Bayelsa for PVC collection

    Bayelsa State government has declared today a public holiday to enable registered voters collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).

    A statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Daniel Iworiso-Markson urged Bayelsans to take advantage of the holiday to visit their communities and places of registrations to collect their PVCs.

    He said the government, through the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, would give logistic support to political leaders, to sensitise and mobilise their people in the local councils to obtain their PVCs and vote in the elections.

    Tomorrow is public holiday

    The Federal Government has declared tomorrow, May 1, as public holiday to mark this year’s Workers’ Day.

    Interior Minister Abba Moro announced the holiday in a statement yesterday in Abuja by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Fatima Bamidele.

    Moro congratulated workers for their resilience and commitment in the face of obvious challenges of daily living.

    The minister urged them to support the present government to improve the work environment and living conditions of workers.
