Ex-Flying Eagles skipper Ramon Azeez has moved closer to playing in the Spanish La Liga after his club Almeria won 1-0 away at Girona.

In the first leg final play off on Wednesday, Charles, whose brace dashed Chrisantus Maculey’s hope in the semi-final, scored the only goal of the game in the 51st minute.

Almeria need just a draw in the return leg on Saturday to grab the promotion ticket. Elche and Villarreal, who parade Nigeria striker Ikechukwu Uche, have already won automatic promotion to the Spanish top flight.

Highly-rated central midfielder Azeez has played for both the main team and the youth team of Almeria since he joined up with them in 2011 after the U20 World Cup in Colombia.

Galatasaray are considering their options in the defensive midfield position after talks with Juventus over a transfer for Felipe Melo hit a stalemate.
