According to a press statement by the RRS, the suspect, Dada Azeez, 28, reportedly abducted Bukunmi on October 5 while on errand for her aunt in Agege area before the RRS operatives rescued her on October 21th, 2016 from his hideout in Agege.

The suspect, after weeks of lodging in several locations to evade arrest, was eventually nabbed by the operatives at his residence at 7, Oseni Street, Danjuma Cinema area, Agege with the girl in his one room apartment.
Confessing to the crime, the suspect disclosed that he wooed the girl when she was 14 years old at her sister’ shop in Agege.
“We started having secret affair about a year ago. But her sister frowned at our relationship when she got to know.
” Unknown to her, we were still seeing each other. In order to be having regular conversation with her, I bought a mobile phone for her and instructed her to hide it from her sister. So, whenever she intended coming to meet me, she will call and I will describe our meeting point for her”.
He added “then I thought if she could elope with me that would be better for us. I started working on her psyche and deceiving her with some material things”.
“I was able to perpetrate the crime when her sister sent her on errand on one Sunday afternoon. However, I didn’t know she was with such amount of money. I just wanted to take her far away from her guardian for not supporting our relationship,” he revealed.
Narrating her ordeal, Bukunmi noted that the suspect forcefully deflowered her, adding that, he turned her to a sex slave.
According to her,” he forced himself on me the very first day I visited him at his residence. Ever since, he has been having sex with me without wearing condom.”
He slept with me anywhere and even at his friends’ place where he hid me for weeks. I succumbed to him because I couldn’t go back home”.
She said that the suspect collected the N58,000 her sister gave her. “He fed me thrice a day probably from that thrift contribution money”, she added.
The victim, who looked pale when he was arrested, said that, she eloped with him out of ignorance.
Also arrested along with him, was one of his friends, Wasiu Agunbiade, who aided the abduction by accommodating the suspect and the teenager in his one-room apartment in Agege.
He said that he only accommodated them for a night, adding that he never knew he abducted the little girl.
“If I had known the girl was abducted, I would have advised him to return her to her parents. I never believed he could commit such crime.
He begged me to accommodate them for one night with her in my room, stressing, “he left my place the following day to somewhere else. I regretted allowing them to pass the night in my place”.
In her reaction, sister of the abducted girl, who was so elated upon seeing her niece, said that the family will take her to hospital for medical check-up.
While confirming the incident, the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Superintendent of Police, SP Dolapo Badmus, warned parents and guardians against exposing their wards and children to social vices around their environment.

Inspector ‘rapes’ 15-year-old girl at gunpoint

The family of a teenager in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State has accused a police inspector attached to Mkpat Enin Division of defiling its 15-year-old daughter at gunpoint.

The teenager and her family made the allegation when they visited The Nation office in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.

The minor said she was returning from African Church, Ikot Abasi-Akpan, last Thursday when policemen accosted her.

She alleged that the inspector pointed a gun at her, saying if she did not allow him to touch her, he would shoot her.

The SS1 pupil alleged that the inspector took her to a dark area and fondled her.

She said the inspector ordered her to undress, pointing a gun at her.

Her words: “After forcing me to remove my clothes, he ordered me to lie down and open my legs. He then made love to me. He threatened to shoot me if I shout.

“I was in pains. When he noticed that blood was coming out of my private part, he took me into a vehicle and drove to the station. He detained me from Thursday till Saturday. It was my uncle, Dr. Stephen Ime, who came from Abuja to bail me with N10,000.”

The victim said her mother left her father when she was a toddler and she did not know her whereabouts.

She said her father became paralysed after falling from a palm tree, adding: “My uncle is our breadwinner.”

Ime said he was shocked when his niece accused the inspector of defiling her “because he is a prosecutor.”

He alleged that the suspect’s colleagues at the police headquarters in Ikot Akpanabia said he was reckless with women.

Ime said: “We need justice. If a police inspector could point a gun at a 15-year-old girl before defiling her, it means he is not fit to be a police officer. Policemen are supposed to protect life and property.

“He is also fraudulent. He kept the girl in custody for three days and had the effrontery to collect N10,000 as bail. We call for his dismissal so that he can be prosecuted.”

  • Father rapes 12-yr-old daughter in Bayelsa, aborts pregnancy

Father rapes 12-yr-old daughter in Bayelsa, aborts pregnancy

AT 12, the world of Queen (surname withheld) has literally turned upside down. Her dreams are crumbling as she undergoes medical treatment owing to alleged abuse by her father, Bamekpa.

Her injuries are serious enough to warrant urgent surgery in one of the hospitals in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Queen is no doubt in pains. At a point, she bled profusely from her private part. Her father, who hails from Imiringi, Ogbia Local Government Area, Bayelsa State, allegedly started to defile her at the age of 11.

He was alleged to have serially raped and eventually impregnated her. Then he forced her to abort a four-month-old pregnancy through a crude process that currently threatens her life.

Queen told Operation Rescue (OPER), a human rights group, led by Princess Elizabeth Egbe, that she ran away from the house when she could no longer bear her father’s devilish craving.

She said: “There was nobody to help me. He kept doing it despite my efforts to stop him. It was a painful and violent experience. I ran away from home because there was a time I bled so much from my private part.”

Sobbing, she said: “When I became pregnant and he heard about it, he handed me over to a lady who took me through an unsuccessful process of abortion. I have been suffering series of health issues after the abortion.”

Speaking on the travails of his niece, her uncle, David Apigi, expressed shock at the way she was allegedly violated by her father.

He said: “My niece told me the trauma she has been passing through in

father’s house and how her father has been using her, turning her to his second wife.

“She said he had sex with her to the extent that he aborted her four-month-old pregnancy. She ran to me and begged me not to allow her to return to her father’s house because she was tired. I decided to accommodate her. The father started looking for her without knowing she was with me.”

He said he reported the matter to the Kolo Police Station but asked them to hold on to enable him make some investigations. He said after his investigations, he called his cousin, Rex Ogboku, in Abuja who reported the matter to the Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA).

But FIDA was sluggish in the way it handled the matter, Apigi noted. “My cousin, Rex Ogboku, in Abuja called FIDA to inform them about the situation. But the way FIDA was going about the issue was too sluggish for my liking. I decided to contact the Operation Rescue.

“We went back to the police and the Otuasiga Police Station arrested the man. The process through which the Otuasiga Police Station was handling the case was not satisfactory.

“Imagine a situation where somebody was arrested and while in detention he was still having access to his phone, making calls. He even called me. He called my uncle, trying to plead with him for settlement. I moved the case to Kolo Police Station.”

He said his niece’s father was notorious for sexual perversion, alleging also that he had slept with his biological sisters. He said the suspect repeatedly had carnal knowledge of his cousin’s daughter and forced her to commit abortion five times.

He said some of his victims were ready to testify against him.

Egbe also lamented the condition of the girl and called on the society to protect the girl-child.

She said: “Our investigations showed that the little girl had been perpetually raped by her father who impregnated her and forced her through abortion that has left her with so many health problems.

“When the girl was pregnant, she did not know. Her stepmother discovered she was pregnant and informed the father. The father handed her over to a lady who took her to a quack doctor for an abortion.

“After the abortion, the girl came back home and discovered she was bleeding from her private part. The father took her to that same lady who then took her to other places. The girl is still in pains and highly traumatised. She has been going through series of medical treatments.

“We want the police to really investigate this matter and get to the root of the case. We want the doctor to be arrested, and we want everybody that is involved to be arrested and prosecuted to serve as deterrent to other people who are involved in this act of perpetual evil against the girl-child. The girl-child is tender and has a lot to contribute to nation-building.”
