    RCCG set to reposition youths

Thousands of youths are poised for repositioning for personal and business excellence at the Region 2 Youth convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) Lagos.

The convention holds from July 12-14 at the Milk and Honey Parish of the church in Maryland, Lagos.

The parish pastor, Wale Adeduro, stated that the convention will be a mixture of spiritual, business and sporting event to repackage youths for greater exploits.

He said many youths are losing the battle against unemployment and productivity due to wrong mindset and orientation.

“Many of them think they cannot make it big without compromising and cutting corners. They believe they cannot run business without government contracts,” Adeduro stated.

To convince them these are untrue, the MD/CEO of Interswitch, the nation’s leading ATM service provider, Mr. Michael Eleme, will be speaking at the convention with the theme “repositioning for youths for nation building”.

According to Adeduro: “We are using the interswitch story to inspire youths. The firm has revolutionised how we pay and do business in the nation.

“It has become a multi-billion business despite not winning government contracts. If Eleme can do it in the same Nigeria, every other youth can do the same.”

Stating that youths will be able to ask the entrepreneur how he succeeded and draw strength from it, Adeduro also hinted that a mentoring programme will be inaugurated for those who feel led to start businesses.

This will be followed by access to loan facility facilitated by the church for those with compelling proposal, he added.

“We are proving that there is hope for those who want to use their talents and there are still rooms at the top for those who dare to be godly and productive,” he submitted.

    RCCG empowers 30 widows

For 30 widows in Lagos province 17 of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), it was all smiles last week.

They received economic empowerment courtesy of the women’s fellowship of the church aimed at changing their status in the society.

The empowerment session was the height of the 3-day Sisters’ Convention with the theme “reliable daughters of zion at the end time”.

The widows drawn from the 30 areas in the province were given support items such as grinding machines, deep freezers, hairdressing equipment, clothes and foodstuffs free of charge.

Also, hundreds of residents within the neighbourhood were offered free medical check-up during the convention.

The wife of the provincial pastor, Pastor (Mrs.) Christiana Omunagbe, explained that the schemes were aimed at addressing deep-seated poverty among the beneficiaries.

She lamented that the nation has failed to address acute hunger and unemployment, stating that such omission does not portend well for collective well-being.

Omunagbe said: “There is no more integrity, transparency and accountability. The whole world is looking unto us as women of honesty to influence positive change.”

She assured that the women have been trained for better economic performances, adding that mentors have been assigned to offer them free advice after investment.

According to her, women in the province have built a sanctuary in Olambe area of Ogun State.

She added that two maternity centres have been added in the province through the efforts of the women fellowship.

A speaker at the convention, Pastor (Mrs.) Victoria Obayemi, advised women to be concerned about the spiritual well-being of their families.

Speaking on keeping the fire of our homes burning, Obayemi, who is the wife of the pastor- in- charge of Region 2, said: “Women are the home makers and the responsibility to keep the fire of the homes burning lies with us.”

She advised all women to get busy and start stoking the fire with the fuel of caring, companionship, complete commitment, charitable communication, appreciation, responsibility, forgiveness, romance and active spiritual involvement.

The beneficiaries exuded joy during the presentation.

  • Adeboye to business owners: Draw close to God

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has advised business executives to draw closer to God for lasting success without sorrow.

He spoke last Sunday during a special service for business executives and owners.

Adeboye said they will experience unusual breakthrough in life and business by dedicating their lives to God and following His pathways.

X-raying the committed life of King Solomon despite his adulterous background, Adeboye noted that he showed appreciation to God for the past and expressed gratefulness for the present.

He told the business owners: “Thank God for the present so that your future can be glorious.”

The cleric said the wisdom of God stood Solomon out, asking the business owners to also seek for divine direction that will make them outstanding.

Adeboye challenged the congregation not to relent in seeking for wisdom that will bring about promotion in their chosen careers.

He pointed out that all Solomon requested for was not for selfish interest but “to serve God”.

This, he said, should be the ultimate of all Christians in business.

Speaking to reporters after the service, the chairman/chief executive officer, Shebah Oil Services Ltd, Joseph Adenuga, said only business men with the fear of God can deliver quality services and resist the temptation of cutting corners.

According to him: “When we get it right in the spiritual angle, we can do better in the physical things.

“The services we render must be done in a friendly manner such that they add value for the exchange.

“Quality service should be rendered to those who demand for it, with the fear of God as guideline because whatever we do unto fellow human beings is directly unto God.”

He added: “If we are going to succeed in anything in the world, we must have an ally. And the greatest ally is God and doing things in God’s way will definitely bring an impact.”

RCCG parish seeks bigger auditorium in UK

If things go as planned, the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Living Faith Connections, United Kingdom will soon relocate to a more befitting auditorium.

This was disclosed by the pastor-in-charge, Chris Adeoye, during a fund raising dinner and choir album launch last week in Lagos.

Adeoye shared how the church secured the current facility in a restricted industrial area in 2005 after serious battles with government officials.

The facility on 23, Thames Road Barking UK, he stated, has since become too small for the ever-expanding scope and membership of the church.

“It has become difficult for us to have ministry expression. We have outreaches and community projects that cannot be accomplished in our current space,” Adeoye informed.

Making a strong appeal for a bigger space, he said another facility within the same neighbourhood has been offered to the church for purchase.

Negotiations, he stated, are on for the facility where he said an eatery, a studio, a gym and office complexes with a 2,000-seater auditorium and storage facilities would be sited.

Adeoye added that a youth academy and conference rooms would also be part of the facility when completed.

He appealed to Kingdom-minded Christians to support the church’s quest, promising them of divine interventions in returns.

The general overseer of Agape Generation Church Akure, Bishop Felix Adejumo, said such projects offered Christians another opportunity to enjoy divine provisions.

Reeling out his personal testimonies of giving, Adejumo said givers can never lack or be backward in life.

According to him: “God is not looking for your money but channels through which He can supply His blessings.”

He solicited support for the project, assuring that such visions would always become realities.

The church’s choir also presented its new album beyond the noun with delightful renditions from the work.

The evening was spiced up with music by Gbenga Adenuga, Evangelist Toun Soetan and Muyiwa Olarenwaju from the UK.

A member of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Covenant Chapel, Ikeja, Lgos, Ola Emmanuel, has introduced her debut CD entitled: Eledumare into the market.

At the presentation at the church’s auditorium last weekend, the musician said she started preparing for the album in 2005. Describing her experience over the years as unpleasant, she said she was glad that she had lived her dream. “Every journey starts with God. I started in 2005. It looks like as if it would be a long journey. There were so many challenges. One wanted to use a song to praise God. I saw God’s hand, though there were some distractions.”

On her message, she said: ‘’The message in the song is about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He left his throne to save us. This was an expression of love. We are celebrating Jesus Christ.”

On the hit track, she also said it is about the love of God. “I was not a Christian before. My encounter with God was something else. He has being my strength and source of encouragement, “ she said, adding: “ I enjoy worshipping God.”

Ola, who is President, Sounds of Many Waters Band, berated some gospel musicians for not doing a good job, saying they lack originality and that they are too worldly.

In the six-tracker are Praise Medley, exceeding Grace, Miracle, Orin to du, Everything and Arugbo Ojo. They are mixtures of English and Yoruba. At the event, Ola, who sang ‘Ojiroghene we na yo’; Ebube, Ebube … and I am saying You are good Jehovah was applauded by guests for her dexterity and originality. They also praised her artistic acumen, which she displayed when she marched in like a regent flanked by two kids. A representative of the Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor, Soji Kuforiji, described the CD as good. “I was moved by the songs and I pray that you will go from height to height,” he said.

Emmanuel is not in a hurry to release another CD soon, but “I see my band going out to play and praise God in worship.”

An RCCG Zonal Pastor, Akin Laoye, praised Emmanuel for her consistency, saying since he knew her, she has always been dedicated to the music ministry as a chorister and that since 1986, when she had the vision to be a musician, she has kept to it. He prayed for her and urged her to remain steadfast and committed to her career.

He thanked the Men’s Fellowship of the church for their support to her over the years, which led to her releasing the album.

Pastor (Mrs) Wunmi Agunbiade, who preached at the event, noted that God is all-powerful, all-knowing and that is why He is the Almighty (Eledumare) as the title of the CD indicates. Quoting from the Holy Bible, she enjoined guests to take their problems to Him in prayer with the faith that He would answer them.
