Actress Regina Daniels has undergone drug tests, addressing rumors and speculation with estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.
In a statement on her Instagram page, Daniels revealed that the past few months have been a challenging period, describing it as a major turning point in her life.
According to Daniels, she decided to take the test to demonstrate commitment to accountability, integrity, and peace of mind, citing the overwhelming love and support she has received from her family, friends and the public.
The actress emphasised the decision to create her own narrative, rather than being defined by others’ opinions, amidst claims that she is a drug addict.
She wrote: “The past few months of my life have been nothing short of heavy. one of those seasons that tries to sit on your chest and ask, “So, what are we doing next?” It has been a major turning point, one that shook me to my core. Everything I had ever known was drowning right in front of me. But here’s the plot twist…
“I didn’t drown with it. Why? Because I was carried by overwhelming love, support, patience, and understanding from my family, my friends, members of the general public. And for that, I am forever grateful. After much reflection (and a few very long conversations with myself), I decided to take this test because I owe it to the people who stood by me, the people who love me, and the people who look up to me. Integrity matters. Accountability matters. Peace of mind especially matters.
“One thing that echoed loudly across the media was, “Regina is a drug addict.” And honestly? I paused, then I checked again. I looked at myself in the mirror repeatedly, searching for this so-called addict. I searched so hard it almost felt like I was going psychic…because surely, I must be missing something. That’s when it hit me! people often project their fears, insecurities, and negativity onto you. But projection is not reality, and noise is not truth.
“Here’s the choice we all have to make: Do you allow yourself to be defined by other people’s opinions, or do you create your own narrative? As for me, I choose the latter every single time. The same mouth that was used to spoil my name is the same mouth that will build it back up.
“This chapter of my life is now about self discovery, self growth, and becoming even more intentional about who I am and where I’m going. I thank God endlessly for His grace, His strength, and His excellence in my life..because if there’s one thing I know for sure, it’s that He has carried me through it all. I’m still standing, still growing and just getting started”.
This development comes amidst reports of Daniels’ alleged divorce from Nwoko.
Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North Senatorial District, has addressed recent social media claims by his estranged wife, actress Regina Daniels, regarding access to their two sons, Munir and Khalifa.
In a statement released by his communication team on Tuesday, titled “Take the Window of Quietude for Therapy,” Nwoko refutes allegations that he is deliberately preventing Daniels from seeing the children or exploiting them publicly.
The statement described Daniels’ posts as misleading and inconsistent with established family practices.
It noted that sharing family moments with the children has long been a tradition, adding that Daniels herself has frequently posted photos and videos of not only her own children but also those of Nwoko’s other wives, without prior concerns about privacy or exploitation.
Nwoko’s team emphasised that Daniels’ absence from the children’s lives has been voluntary, stating she has prioritised social engagements and nightlife over consistent presence, while the children are in a stable environment focused on routine and emotional well-being.
He also added that an Abuja court has directed that Regina Daniels must undergo drug rehabilitation and be assessed by the Abuja Social Welfare Department before regaining access to the children.
The matter is adjourned to February 4, 2026, for the substantive hearing.
The dispute escalated publicly in October 2025 with allegations of substance abuse and domestic issues, leading to this custody focused development.
Actress Regina Daniels has opened up about the emotional distress of being separated from her children, Prince Munir and Prince Khalifa, amid ongoing marital tensions with her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.
In the viral video, Regina was seen presenting her children with gifts, including toys, clothes, and shoes, as they pleaded with her to return home.
“Mama, come back,” one of the children says, prompting Regina to reassure them, “I will come soon, OK.”
In the caption accompanying the video, Regina Daniels expressed the pain she has been enduring, stating, “People may believe that I am happy, but no mother can be at peace while separated from her children. I chose not to allow that pain to define or imprison me, which is why it took time for me to walk away”.
She questioned the motivations behind her husband’s public sharing of images of their children, stating that it may be driven more by a desire for public engagement than a sense of parental responsibility.
Regina Daniels reaffirmed her love and commitment to her role as a mother, saying, “I may be young, but I am such a mum, I enjoy being a mum and I miss being a mum”.
She also expressed her determination to be reunited with her children, stating, “If their father thinks I won’t come for my children, I will definitely see my kids soon!”
A popular notion that oil and water don’t mix aptly explains one of the reasons the relationship between two Nigerian politicians, Ned Nwoko and Natasha Osawaru, and two Nigerian entertainers, 2baba Idibia and Regina Daniels, has enjoyed little or no peace since they announced their relationship.
First was Senator Ned Nwoko whose six-year-old marriage to Regina is in turmoil. After months of speculation, the marital crisis was confirmed by both parties, and today, the centre can no longer hold. Currently, 2Baba’s six-month-old marriage to Edo lawmaker, Natasha, is in trouble. The union is wobbling, tottering, and currently being tossed by the wave of sheer instability. From fanfare to warfare. From fun and merriment to pain and sorrow. Celebrity and their marriages to politicians are critiqued in this feature by The Nation’s Entertainment Editor, GBENGA BADA.
Ned Nwoko and Regina Daniels
The relationship that exists between film star, Regina Daniels and Nigerian politician cum senator, Ned Nwoko, has consistently found attractive spots since their marriage was contracted in 2019.
At the inception of the union in 2019, the media was awash with their seeming gap of 39 years as their age difference – Nwoko, 64 and Regina, 25. Some even speculated that she was way below 19 during her traditional marriage, but Nwoko has dispelled the allegations insisting she was of ripe age when they contracted the marriage, according to the customs and tradition of the Anioma people.
The public space, for a total of six years, has been awash with their love story, which is undoubtedly riddled with controversies. The union lasted for a period of 72 months, until the film star decided to call it quits, after which she claimed domestic abuse, and the politician alleged she was battling drug addiction. Sadly, ever since their union kicked off, the estranged pair have been in the news for various reasons ranging from extra-marital affairs to the birth of children, to the exchange of expensive gifts and recently drug and domestic abuse allegations.
Between 2020 and 2022, the couple welcomed their two children – Munir Neji Ned Nwoko, June 2020; and Khalifa Chiamaka Ned Nwoko, June 2022.
In 2024, social media was abuzz when Regina deactivated her social media accounts and claimed that actress Chika Ike was allegedly pregnant with Ned Nwoko’s child, and was to become his wife, which took over the airwaves. While both parties swiftly denied the rumours, it reignited old speculations about Nwoko’s polygamous tendencies and the pressures Regina might be facing in the marriage.
The couple had gone through the phase of extra-marital affairs with claims that Ned, a confessed polygamist, was planning to take another wife. The pair were able to weather the storm and remained together until 2025.
Senator Nwoko has claimed that Regina’s brother and her assistant are the drug couriers aiding his estranged wife to get an unlimited supply of drugs. In response, Regina admitted being on drugs but insisted that Nwoko always wanted her more sexually when she’s on drugs – a claim the Senator is yet to deny or admit.
2Baba and Natasha
Nigerian musician Innocent Idibia, aka 2Baba, has always been in the news for two major reasons – music and women – in the last three decades of his career as a performing artist.
Notorious for having children with several women outside wedlock, he eventually decided to settle down with Nollywood actress, Annie Macaulay in May 2012.
However, the marriage only lasted 13 years and produced two children: Isabella and Olivia. All through the 13 years, allegations of infidelity and drug abuse rocked the Idibias’ marriage for the better part of the time it lasted. Speculations were rife that 2Baba was neck deep in love with Natasha while he was still married to Annie – a situation some allegedly said drove Annie into drug abuse. He was also alleged to have been enjoying amorous relationships with other women.
Just when Nigerians and fans of 2Baba were settling into 2025 in January, the ‘African Queen’ announced his separation from Annie and plans to file for divorce.
Shortly after the announcement, 2Baba announced his relationship with Hon Natasha Osawaru, a lawmaker at the Edo state house of assembly and granddaughter of the Esama of Benin, Chief Igbinedion.
Their relationship was initially rejected with 2Baba’s mother kicking against it and some of his brothers expressing disappointment in the singer’s decision.
On July 25, 2025 – six months after his separation from Annie – 2baba married Natasha in a private traditional ceremony in Abuja. The ceremony was attended by close family members and followed Idoma and Benin traditions.
Since the marriage was contracted, those close to 2baba had expressed dissatisfaction claiming Natasha was bad for business. And barely six months into the union with Natasha, all is not rosy in the new home formed by 2Baba. Videos of constant fights between the 50-year-old lanky singer and the Edo lawmaker have been shared on social media at different times.
As the drama continues to unfold, 2Baba’s brothers have expressed their dissatisfaction with his union to Natasha claiming he is unwell.
One of his brothers, Charles Idibia, publicly warned that 2Baba was living in bondage. Charles also accused Natasha of controlling the singer’s devices and disrupting his business activities. He further wrote that she had cloned his WhatsApp, sabotaged his business trips, and told strangers she was his wife.
In the same vein, another brother of the singer, Hyacinth Idibia, appealed to the singer to allow his family to support him as concerns grew over his troubled personal life. “You’ve always been ahead, always been brilliant, lyrics meant to inspire, but somehow, it’s unfolding in real time. Painful reality, allow us to save you. Oyinem, you’ve been suffering for too long. God knows.”
Some industry watchers have opined that 2Baba’s union with Natasha seems to be heading for the canvass as their incessant fights continue to gain public attention.
Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North, has stated that he will not take back his estranged wife, Regina Daniels, citing concerns about her behaviour and well-being.
In a lengthy statement on social media, he claimed she has been under the influence of hard drugs, leading to violent and irrational incidents.
“Senator Ned Nwoko is not chatting with Regina and does not want her back in the house. All he is insisting on is that she should be encouraged to go to therapy,” the statement read in part.
Nwoko shared a WhatsApp message from October 17 as his last communication with Regina, stating it’s his ultimatum regarding her rehabilitation.
The lawmaker also denied Regina’s allegations of drugs and s3xual misconduct, calling them unsubstantiated and a product of her imagination.
“It is important to state that Regina continues to be completely under the influence of hard drugs and whatever she says is a lie from the pit of hell. For example, the allegations of drugs and sex are a figment of her wild imagination and can never be substantiated”, he added.
Serenity Royale Hospital has denied a medical report allegedly belonging to Regina Daniels, estranged wife of Senator Ned Nwoko.
The Abuja-based hospital stated that the report’s publication and circulation did not originate from it and asked the public to disregard it, emphasising commitment to medical confidentiality.
The statement reads: “DISCLAIMER! Our attention has been drawn to a post (on an alleged MID TERM HOME DETOX REPORT) being circulated online in the name of Serenity Royale Hospital with respect to Mrs Nwoko Regina.
“We wish to state clearly that the publication and circulation of the said post containing classified information did not emanate from us and respectfully request the public to disregard same.
“We remain committed to high standard medical practice with huge commitment to ensuring medical confidentiality. Thank you, Management. Serenity Royale Hospital”.
The report had revealed Regina Daniels’ alleged detoxification programme and tested positive for multiple substances, including marijuana, cocaine and high levels of alcohol.
The feud between Nollywood actress, Regina Daniels, and estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, has taken a turn, following social media exchanges between the actress and one of Nwoko’s other wives, Laila Charani.
Charani, in posts, accused Daniels of spreading falsehoods about her and the family.
Her comments came shortly after Nwoko dismissed reports suggesting he married Regina when she was underage.
The senator, who shared Regina’s voter’s card to back his claim, said the actress was 21 years old when they held their traditional wedding in 2019.
“Any suggestion that I married her at 17 is false and should not be accepted. The facts are verifiable and indisputable,” he said, emphasising their marriage took place six years ago.
But the actress also fired back at Charani, dismissing her accusations with sarcasm. Regina made posts that showed Nwoko’s ally persuading her to discontinue the drama and contact her husband for peace, urging them to leave her alone.
In her online post, Charani dismissed Regina’s claim she had supported other members of the family, saying it is untrue.
She said she was content with her husband’s provisions and advised Regina to refrain from further personal allegations.
Regina described some of Charani’s comments as “hurtful and unnecessary.”
She defended her role as a mother, saying her focus is her children’s well-being and peace of mind.
The actress also shared a message purportedly from a family acquaintance, who asked her to make peace with her husband.
Regina expressed frustration at continued attempts to discredit her and vowed to defend her reputation.
She alleged that certain individuals in the family had been sending her private messages, urging reconciliation while publicly criticising her online. Regina maintained she had moved on with her life and called for an end to what she described as harassment.
Her younger sister, Destiny, defended Regina, urging parties to refrain from bringing family matters to the public space. She urged restraint and respect among the co-wives.
An alleged medical report, which showed Regina tested positive for cocaine, marijuana, morphine, opiates, and alcohol during a detox programme, is trending on the social media.
The test allegedly conducted at Serenity Royale Hospital in Abuja was reportedly signed by Dr. Adekunle Adesina.
The report, which has not been independently verified by The Nation, claimed Regina suffered a breakdown on September 23, prompting treatment after she went two days without sleep and became aggressive.
She was said to have been placed on a home-based detox plan, with doctors warning against contact with anyone involved in drug use.
Despite initial efforts, the report claimed her recovery was slow due to constant social activities and exposure to high-risk environments.
It recommended stricter monitoring, therapy, and temporary withdrawal from the public.
Family lawyer, Ogbuefi Omezi, advised Regina’s mom, Rita, and others to be cautious.
In a statement, Omezi said the situation is “deeply complex,” noting it raises concerns about personal relationships, public perception, and the media’s role in amplifying private conflicts.
He said Nwoko’s concern for the actress’s well-being indicated a desire for resolution, urging both families to prioritise reconciliation over confrontation.
Omezi also cautioned against sensational media coverage, stressing that “unverified claims and negative portrayals” could harm reputations and erode public trust.
He urged all parties to seek a peaceful resolution and “embrace maturity rather than washing dirty linens in public.”
Actress Regina Daniels has responded to fellow co-wife Laila Charani’s claims of drug use, lesbian affairs, and being a danger to children in the household.
Laila earlier questioned how Regina can claim she gave her money and how she doesn’t trust her daughters alone with Daniels.
She said she is very content with the provisions her husband, Ned Nwoko, makes for their family.
She claimed that the reason Regina is fighting her husband is because he wants her to stop her drug and alcohol addiction.
“You also know that my husband completely hates alcohol, drugs, and smoking. He has always been clear that he would never accept any wife who drinks, smokes, or uses drugs. The only reason you are fighting my husband is because he wants you to stop your drug and alcohol addiction. It has always been a serious matter for him, as he neither smokes nor drinks himself”, she said.
Charani also alleged that she almost lost her marriage when Daniels introduced her to drugs 6 years ago, and it was Ned who rescued her from that dark part.
“You know too well that I almost lost my marriage when you introduced me to drugs 6 years ago, and it was my husband’s quick insistence on intervention that rescued me from that dark path. You have been a bad influence since you married into this beautiful family, giving drugs to nannies and our workers, including your younger sister Destiny”, she continued.
She added that she doesn’t trust her daughters around her unsupervised, especially when she found out that she was sleeping with every single girl around her.
“You infected everyone with your virus, and this is why I will not trust my daughters around you unsupervised, especially when I found out that you were sleeping with every single girl around you”, she added.
Responding to the allegations, Regina dismissed Laila’s lengthy statement as scripted by their husband and described the claim that children should not be left unsupervised with her as “the most useless and hurtful thing to say”.
Addressing the allegation that she “sleeps with every single girl” in the household, the mother of two neither confirmed nor denied same-s3x relationships but turned the accusation back on Laila.
She wrote, “First off! Openly saying you can’t leave kids around me is the most useless and hurtful thing Ned ordered his retarded wife to say. I’m such a mother to so many children that it’s quite tiring. Also, saying I sleep with every single girl?
“Truthfully, sleeping with the same gender isn’t a thing that I consider shameful, but how is the other woman so certain? lol. Is she so certain because I slept with her, too?
“I hope she also knows that if not for polygamy disadvantages, her son and mine can’t be together because of all the atrocities we have caught him doing that I will never mention! But my son loves him, so what can I do?”
Senator representing Delta North Ned Nwoko has denied allegations by Regina he married her at 17.
In a statement on X, Nwoko explained that during his first meeting with Regina, she told him she was 21 years old and presented an Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) voter’s card as proof, showing her date of birth as October 10, 1998.
Nwoko wrote: “It has come to my attention that false claims are being circulated by Regina, suggesting that I married her when she was 17 years old. These claims are entirely untrue and misleading.
“For clarity, during my first meeting with Regina, I asked her age, and she told me she was 21 years old. I further asked if she had any document to support this, and she presented her inec voter’s card, which clearly shows that she was born on October 10th, 1998. I informed her that I would keep this document in my possession, and I have done so since that day”.
Nwoko referenced an interview with Regina’s mother, which he said supports his account, and described the claims as untrue and misleading.
“I have also seen a BBC interview Her mom granted after our marriage regarding her age”.
He urged the public to approach the allegations with caution, citing Regina’s “mental condition” related to her drug addiction.
“According to all verifiable records, our marriage took place six years ago, which means Regina is 27 years old today. Any suggestion that I married her at 17 is false and should not be accepted by the public.
“The facts are verifiable and indisputable. Until this is done, I urge the public to approach all her claims with caution and discernment especially taking into account her current mental condition having started and abandoned her rehabilitation from illegal drug addiction,” he countered.
Actress Regina Daniels has celebrated her brother, Sammy West’s release from detention after being granted bail over allegations linked to her marital issues with Senator Ned Nwoko.
West’s bail was set at N5 million, secured by a legal team led by human rights lawyer Marshal Abubakar.
The case has been adjourned to November 28 for further hearing.
Daniels expressed joy and gratitude on social media, thanking her fans and well-wishers for their support during her brother’s detention.
She described the love and support she received as “heart-warming” and appreciated the outpouring of love, which made her feel valued.
She said, “Guys, do you know it’s really such a big deal to be loved by a lot of people? Wait, can I brag about that? Can I actually brag that I’m loved by so many people?
“See, the kind of love I received during this period makes me emotional. I feel good. I feel good. Jokes on you, Ned, because you thought people would hate me.
“That’s something you all don’t know. I have my mothers, my fathers, my uncles, my brothers, my sisters, my friends, my fans, my online aunties and online daddies — everybody fighting for me.
“Thank you, guys. I can’t even start mentioning names.”
The marital issues between Daniels and Nwoko have been ongoing, with both parties trading allegations.
Nwoko has accused Daniels of substance abuse and urged her to seek rehabilitation, while Daniels has accused him of domestic violence, intimidation, and controlling behaviour.
