Stop looking for that person that completes you, RMD urges

Legendary actor, Richard Mofe Damijo, popularly known as RMD, is known not to pass on an opportunity to dish out wisdom nuggets to his followers on social media.

As it is the season of love, he once again has a word of two for those who are seeking to be loved.

The actor Wednesday, which was a Valentine’s Day, a day set aside to celebrate love, took to Instagram to decry the pressure people place on themselves to be loved and cared for.

“It’s that day of the year again when many are pressured by the need to be loved and cared for. The day where the pressure to outshine the other is on and the really single, bae-less ones feel out of sorts. Well my darling, do not let anything or anyone make you feel inadequate and/or incomplete,” he wrote.

Continuing, he urged his readers not to look for anybody to complete them at any time.

“You are complete on your own. Nobody completes you. Nothing completes you. Stop looking for that person or thing that completes you. You won’t find it. Find the One that made you and learn how to be with Him and be at peace, that way if the chocolates, cakes, roses and ice cream don’t come to you, you’ll gracefully enjoy the day nonetheless knowing that your happiness is in your own hands,” he adds.

RMD prods fans on of Valentine craze

Veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD), on Thursday, advised people searching  for true love on social media to be cautious, so as not to fall into the snare lies of `I love you`.

RMD in his Instagram page on the social media said this advice was necessary as the Valentine Season usually celebrated on February14 on an annual basis draws closer.

The former Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Delta said that he wanted to share his intellectual, motivational and thoughtful insights to guide appropriately those finding love on the internet to guide them against being jilted.

He said: “If I wasn’t the six foot, successful, famous, good-looking RMD, will you still love me?

“If not for the level of fame I have achieved and the success tied to my brand; will you still scream my name?

“If I was a middle-aged, gray bearded, emaciated applicant hoping to be your driver, will you give me a second look?

“If I was a half literate Warri boy who said ‘Nyam’ instead of Yam, “Shorsh” instead of Church and “I chock” instead of “I was shocked”, will you not mock and laugh at my speech?

“If I, as RMD, fell on hard times, lost my fame and fortune, became helpless and hopeless, will you show any sympathy?

“I asked, not because I do not know the answers but so that he that has ears will hear and hopefully learn a thing or may be, two, “he said.

He continued by saying, “In your desire to be loved and accepted, it is important to ask yourselves how much of the love and admiration thrown at you are genuine.

“Know that many do not love you; they love the idea of you.

“It is the same people who sing your praises when you’re up, that tear you apart when you stumble, and stomp on you when you fall.

“Don’t let the number of followers you have, the likes and comments on your pictures or the hype fool you, one wrong move and the vultures will swoop down to feast.

“This is why I appreciate the love but stay super selective when it comes to letting people in. I keep my circle small, in fact, very small.

“I keep my private life, private and thank God for the grace to also keep my public life private.

“Don’t put yourself out there and start crying foul when it blows up in your face and stop trying to sit with the cool kids, you are the cool kid. Know this and elevate above the clique mentality.

“This is really the truth, you only gain attention because of what you are achieving, “he said.

“When we’re faced with difficult situations of no godfather, no job, no money, no support we do not slink away, instead we must remember WHO WE ARE in Christ and connect to the higher realm because it is the spiritual that controls the physical.

“Our elevation lies in when our connection to God by His Spirit and in it is the knowledge of this that gives us the confidence to call the things that are not, as though they were.

The thespian who just wrapped up works on a new TV series, ‘The Mr. X Family Show’, posted on his Instagram account; “I have been on the road since April traveling round Nigeria with comedians, musicians and fellow actors. In all this time, one thing I’ve observed in all the venues is that the audience is hungry for entertainment, good entertainment…”

In his view, entertainment is money, and government needs to implement policies that would help it grow, just as risk takers are needed for this reality to unfold. He said: “Brands and multinationals need to critically look at the entertainment industry and see the different ways of growing it.”

Well, yes, I still get tickled by acting awards, it’s who I am, it’s what I do and I absolutely love it. It is my art and in its own way defines me, so any recognition of excellence is a validation that on my lane, I do good work. I adore and totally respect those who do same in their respective fields because when it all comes down to it; really, it’s how we impact our little corners that count.”

‘Three Wise Men’ features other Nollywood actors like Zack Orji, Victor Olaotan, Ebele Okaro, Tina Mba, Thelma Nwosu, and Emeka Nwachukwu.

The pack is led by Irikefe, 64, a divorcee with three failed marriages after five children and refuses to remarry. Irikefe decides to live alone as his covetous children are now grown and also live on their own but patiently waiting for him to die so they can swoop on whatever is left of him.

RMD, Ego Boyo reunite in new production

Nollywood TV stars, Richard Mofe Damijo, better known as RMD and Ego Boyo, are back together  for a new project in the series The Mr X Family Show. This would be their first outing after co-starring in Violated 25 years ago.

The actor who hinted the comeback wrote on Instagram; “My journey with Ego Boyo started nearly 30 years ago. Our first encounter being on the production of Checkmate when my dear friend Amaka Igwe pulled me in as the villain Segun Kadiri on the highly coveted TV series. One of the most remarkable things about Ego is that despite the fact that she is born with a silver spoon into the family of the highly respected late Justice Nnamani she was super disciplined (she still is), very humble and extremely committed.

“Our status as Nigerian TV sweethearts rose with the movie Violated as ‘Tega’ and ‘Peggy’ became the toast of Violated fans. Since then Ego has gone ahead to becoming wife, mother, accomplished business woman and the president of International Women’s Society.

“Over 25 years later Tega and Peggy are back together again on my new TV “DramCom” The Mr X Family Show. I can only hope that getting back together again on TV will tickle fans of Ann Hathrope and Segun Kadiri and the fans of Tega and Peggy who have been craving to have them grace their TV screens again. Ego and I are pretty excited about this and hope the excitement catches on”.

He also teased his fans, asking them to guess the role they are both playing. The actor had earlier hinted about the new work stating, “New ventures are never easy. From conception to execution it’s fraught with all kinds of challenges and emotional roller coaster.”

  • RMD RELISHES LIFE AT 56

    RMD RELISHES LIFE AT 56

NOLLYWOOD actor, Richard Mofe-Damijo, fondly called RMD, added a year on Thursday July 6, and for him, it was a time to show appreciation to his maker for turning 56

Motivating his fans, the actor said that there is nobody that cannot ‘make it’ in life, considering where he started from.

RMD, who had a brief stint in politics, wrote; “Patoranking’s ‘Nobody wey nor fit to make am o’ is the apt theme song for my life as I celebrate my 56th birthday today. From Welfare Road Warri, Delta State to the Silver Screen, it’s been an often times surreal experience that anyone who has made it from a similar place of obscurity can relate to. I believe my journey, like most journeys to greatness usually start from self belief. It’s hard for me to believe I have done 34 years post graduation. There’s been struggles, uncertainties, living abroad, seeking greener pastures, returning home, businesses have risen, flourished and some fallen.

“There’s been a marriage, a painful death, another blessed marriage, joyous births and more academic pursuits and degrees. There’s been my sojourn in government for 8 years, the birth of my precious grandchildren and the return that was first scary till I felt the overwhelming love and support of my ever growing fan base. What a journey. What a packed 56 years. I am indeed grateful and thankful. No, I didn’t wake up like this (as RMD), No, I didn’t always know that I would “make it”. It’s been Faith, Hard work, Self development and more work. But above all I have been more graced than my efforts could ever have done which is why in this journey, God is my ride or die and today I return all the glory to Him.”
