  • ‘Sanwo-Olu will win with wide margin in Lagos East’

    The Lagos East Senatorial Coordinator of Babajide Olushola Sanwo-Olu Independent Campaign Group (ICG), Mayor Dele Oshinowo, has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, will be victorious in next yuear’s general elections with a wide margin in the district.

    The senatorial coordinator, who is currently the helmsman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), spoke after a meeting with local government coordinators of the group in the senatorial district.

    The meeting was held at the campaign office of the governorship candidate in the senatorial district, at Plot 586, Ikorodu Road, Mile 12, Lagos.

    He assured the people that “Sanwo-Olu will have a sweeping victory because Lagosians are known to stand with a party that brings total development”.

    Dele noted that in the last 19 and a half years, everyone in the state had been feeling the developmental pulse, a manifestation of the good job by the APC, an offshoot of the Alliance of Democracy (AD).

    “Elections in this part of the clime are mostly contests of political parties, their manifestoes and the good programmes put in place by the party while in power.

    “In this scenario, Lagosains have witnessed several administrations at helm of affairs in various tiers of government; they can decipher the one that brings development and one that is determined to loot our commonwealth.

    “Generally established in the state, the APC has stood genuinely with the populace; the party has provided a leadership platform for development, which was institutionalised in a blueprint designed by the father of the progressives in the country, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, during his reign as a governor in the state.

    “Ahead of next year’s governorship election, ‘Lagos electorate are known to understand the language of development, which speaks about good governance. Clearly, the candidate who will sustain the good works in Lagos is none other than Babajide Sanwo-Olu.”

     

     

  • Council raises campaign team for Sanwo-Olu, others

    The Chairman of Ifako-Ijaiye Local Government Area, Apostle Oloruntoba Oke, has inaugurated the council’s Independent Campaign Group (ICG), urging members to begin door-to-door and house-to-house campaigns for  the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates for next year’s elections.

    APC had collapsed all independent groups and established a central Independent Campaign Group (ICG), to coordinate campaign activities for the party’s governorship candidate, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, and other candidates.

    Inaugurating the 18-member committee, Oke, said with the lifting of the ban on campaigns, the members must swing I to action and spread the gospel of the APC.

    He said: “We in Ifako-Ijaiye are happy that our local government is one of the 24 where our party decided to set up ICGs. We are confident that we shall record 100% success in the forthcoming poll as all those selected into this all imports t committee are people of proven integrity who are dependable and reliable. They are those who have the track record of handling this sort of service for the party in the past.”

    He urged the members to justify the confidence reposed in them, and urged them to carry out all their activities peacefully, and without any rancour whatsoever.

    Oke said the assignment ahead though daunting is very easy, especially in Lagos State where successive administration have been pursuing the progressive  master plan of the emeritus Governor and National Leader of the party Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who has continued to set the pace as a democrat and dependable leader.

    “The task ahead is undoubtedly rigourous but you are not likely to face any opposition because of the sterling performance of our great party in the state. You are to assure the people that our candidate Babajide Sanwo-Olu would coninue in the same tradition of his predecessors in bringing growth and infrastructural development closer to the people.”

  • Ikorodu won’t betray you, monarch tells Sanwo-Olu

    The Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, has assured the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his running mate, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, that his people will not betray them in their quest for the leadership of Lagos State.

    The monarch, whose people welcomed Sanwo-Olu and his team with music, dance and jubilation on Monday when the APC candidate visited the palace for a consultative meeting, said Ikorodu residents would vote for APC.

    Other monarchs in Ikorodu Division, who were at the palace of the paramount ruler, unanimously endorsed and pledged their support for the Sanwo-Olu and Hazmat ticket in next year’s election.

    On behalf of the monarchs, Oba Shotobi urged Sanwo-Olu to make provision for more infrastructure and improvement of social services in Ikorodu, if elected.

    He said: “The people of Ikorodu are behind you, but we want you to take the state to a greater height…

    “We don’t have to sweat so much because I know the two of you personally and I know that you understand what our needs are in Ikorodu Division. Ikorodu is one of the five divisions of Lagos. Existing infrastructure need to be expanded to accommodate increasing population and we need new ones. We want improvement in our public schools and health facilities, among others.”

    A political leader, Olorunfunmi Bashorun, promised the APC massive votes from Ikorodu.

    He said the division is an APC domain and the leadership had started the groundwork to return a huge margin for Sanwo-Olu.

    Sanwo-Olu promised the monarchs that he would run an all-inclusive government.

    He said: “I came here to seek guidance and prayers from our royal fathers. I am happy I have received your blessings. I am happy with the warm welcome you gave me and my running mate, Dr. Hamzat, who is my friend and brother. The kabiyesi has listed what our people in Ikorodu want government to do.

    “Let me assure the Ayangburen and our royal fathers from Ikorodu Division that we will do what you asked for and much more. We know the importance of Ikorodu and we will work to develop every part of Lagos. I appreciate your support and the prayers offered to me and my deputy. Our primary aim is to take Lagos to a greater height.”

     

     

  • Council gets campaign group for Sanwo-Olu

    The Apapa-Iganmu Local Council Development Area of Lagos has inaugurated an Independent Campaign Group (ICG) in the council to work for the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship candidate, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

    It’s chairman, Alhaja Funmilayo Akande-Muhammed urged the members of the group to ensure Sanwo-Olu records landslide victory at the poll.

    “The 2019 governorship election is critical to the further development of our state. To ensure victory at the poll, it requires good planning. Your responsibility is to market Mr Sanwo-Olu from house to house until the whole Apapa-Iganmu LCDA gets the clear message of hope,” she said.

    Alhaja Akande-Muhammed urged the members to study the party’s manifestoes and “our incoming governor’s programmes. We must not take anything for granted; we must keep the flag flying.”

  • Lagos is not in bondage, Sanwo-Olu replies Agbaje

    LAGOS State All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu has said Lagosians are free citizens and not in bondage.

    Sanwo-Olu stated this yesterday at the Palace of Akran of Badagry Aholu De Wheno Menu Toyi 1 during a consultative visit to the traditional rulers in the Badagry Division.

    In a direct response to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Jimi Agbaje, who said Lagosians were in bondage, Sanwo-Olu said Lagosians had not been enslaved under the APC-led administration.

    He noted that the state had achieved accelerated prosperity since 1999 due to the tenacity and purposefulness of the ruling party.

    Highlighting the numerous infrastructural needs of the Badagry division, the APC standard-bearer promised to speedily address some of the listed concerns of the people.

    He said: “Some have started talking about freedom and insinuated that Lagos is in bondage. Unfortunately, we cannot begin to talk about freedom in the 21st century. This is insulting to humanity and the people of Lagos, especially because slavery and bondage were abolished in Badagry several decades ago. When they talk about freedom, we ask them freedom from what? We have had our freedom and everyone in Lagos is free. We have since moved away from the era of slavery, to era of prosperity with deep-seated aspiration for greater Lagos.

    “We are aware of the challenges facing the people of Badagry on the rehabilitation of the expressway and we are promising that our administration would immediately hit the ground running and ensure the completion of that important road immediately we assume office by your votes.”

    Sanwo-Olu reminded the royal fathers of the economic importance of tourism to the GDP of the state, maintaining that he would ensure a speedy completion of all projects that will improve the quality of lives of the people.

    “It is no brainer that once we fix infrastructure, it will automatically jump-start development in the area.

  • Monarchs to Sanwo-Olu: we are behind you

    The paramount ruler of Iruland, Oba Idowu Abiodun Oniru, and his Ajiran counterpart, Oba Tijani Akinloye, have thrown their weight behind the aspiration of the governorship candidate of the Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

    The monarchs told Sanwo-Olu to make the people of Lagos State the focus of his policies, if elected.

    They made the statements during separate courtesy visits to their palaces by the APC candidate and his encourage.

    Oniru, who was effusive in his prayers for Sanwo-Olu and his running mate, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, described the duo as a good omen for Lagos. He said the state has never had it so good with the quality of candidates the APC has presented for the general election. The royal father however, urged the team to stay focused and not be distracted by voices of dissent.

    He said: ‘’People are the cornerstone of electoral success. So, don’t abandon them when you get to power. The market women and men are very important so also are the royal fathers. You must always carry them along in your decision making process,’’ Oniru said.

    On his part, the Ojomu of Ajiranland, Oba Adetunji Akinloye advised Sanwo-Olu to be fair to all and sundry when elected.

    The royal father said he does not have any doubt that the APC will emerge victorious in the election, But, he warned against what he described as people who may want to plant a seed of discord between him and his deputy.

    Oba Akinloye said: ‘’We will continue to pray for you and your deputy Governorship candidate. With good understanding between the two of you, I believe that Lagosians will be the best for it’’.

    Sanwo-Olu thanked the royal fathers for their blessings for him and his team. He said the warm receptions he got from the palaces showed that he is well accepted as son of the soil in Oniru and Ajiran. He promised to take note of the advice given by the royal fathers.

    He promised to run an all-inclusive government where every Lagosian will be a direct beneficiary of all government policies.

  • Why I chose Hamzat as my running mate — Sanwo-Olu

    The Governorship Candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Lagos State, Mr Jide Sanwo-Olu, on Sunday said he chose Dr Obafemi Hamzat as his running mate because he would make a capable deputy.
    Sanwo-Olu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that Hamzat is a man with high level of knowledge and skills that would help make the difference in the state.
    ”Femi and I, we have been friends for well over 15 years. I know his strength and I know he is a capable man, and I know he is a competent individual.
    ”I know his pedigree, the value, the level of integrity, knowledge and skills that he has.
    ”I’m not in any doubt that he would not only be a strong supporter of my campaign and programne, but he will be a capable deputy that will help make a difference in Lagos.
    ”It is two good hands in the narrative of Lagos State, ” he said. (NAN)
  • Fasehun: Sanwo-Olu commiserates with family

    The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the 2019 governorship elections in Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has commiserated with the Fasehun family over the death of their patriarch, Pa Frederick Fasehun, founder of the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC), a pan-Yoruba movement. Sanwo-Olu, while praying that God should grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss and comfort at this time of grief, he described the demise of the purpose-driven and visionary elder statesman as not only a great loss to his beloved family, but also to Nigeria as a whole.

    He added that the medical doctor, who became more notable for his resounding and unrelenting position on the development of Nigeria and advancement of the Yoruba people, will be remembered for his versatility, leadership, and service to the nation in a variety of roles. Sanwo-Olu further stated that the younger generation of leaders in Nigeria should emulate Fasehun’s many noble ideals, which were geared towards the greatness of Nigerian nation.

    He also noted that, given the many remarkable interventions by the late politician and social crusader on the affairs of Nigeria, it would be a well-deserved honour to his memory if efforts can be made by the family, close associates and people of good conscience to immortalise him.  Sanwo-Olu, however, affirmed that he and other progressive-minded people of his ilk would renew their commitment and continue to champion the cause for a greater Nigeria.

     

  • 2019: I will beat Sanwo-olu flat — Agbaje

    The People’s Democratic Party(PDP) Governorship Candidate in Lagos, State, Mr Jimi Agbaje, says he will beat All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Mr Babajide Sanwo-olu, flat in the 2019 election.

    Agbaje expressed the confidence while addressing his supporters at the formal declaration of his ambition in Lagos.

    He said 2019 would be a year of victory for him, after two failed attempts.

    Lagos is a stronghold of the APC and though over 40 candidates from different parties are eying the state’s governorship seat in 2019, APC’s Sanwo-olu and PDP’s Agbaje are believed to be major contenders.

    Agbaje promised to shock the APC and its candidate in the election.

    “I will beat the APC in 2019; mark my words, I will not only beat them, I will beat them flat. I am sure of winning because Lagosians are behind me.

    “The support we were given in 2015 is still there, intact. We will expand on it in 2019. I am in the race because I am passionate about Lagos.

    “I hear them calling me their customer because of my past attempts, but I tell them,the customer is King. By next year, we shall know the results. But I can assure you once again that I will beat them flat,” he said.

    The governorship candidate said the APC had failed the state in all the ramifications, calling on residents to vote out the party for lack of progress.

    He said he had the capacity, the experience and sincerity to deliver the Lagos of everybody’s dream, if elected.

    Agbaje said he had a robust plan to provide jobs for the teeming youths ,who in turn would drive the prosperity of the State.

    He added that he would improve security in all parts of the state to safeguard lives and properties.

    Agbaje said the problem of gridlock was becoming unbearable, promising to implement actions to ease movement of vehicles and pedestrians.

    He said he would improve essential services like health, education and accelerate infrastructural development of all parts of the state.

    Asked if the gale of defection of prominent PDP members would not affect his chances, he said the exit of a few individuals would not stop his victory.

    He said the party was not in anyway affected by the defection, adding that party members were more determined than ever to liberate the state from APC.

    “It is normal for people to change parties, but the question is, what is the impact? When Obanikoro left, did anybody go with him?

    “When Salvador left, our former Chairman, he left alone. The people are still in the party. Chief Bode George is here, so are all the great party men.

    “So, we are winning in 2019. No doubt about that. The people are tired and they want a change in PDP,” he said. (NAN)

  • Arewa community backs APC, Sanwo-Olu

    Arewa Community in Lagos State has expressed it’s support for the All Progressive Congress (APC) in next year’s elections.

    It leader, Alhaji Dandama Yabo, disclosed this during a media chat at his office in Ketu, Lagos suburb.

    He said the community has been supporting APC leaders, including  Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Babatunde Raji Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode.

    He noted that the group has embraced the APC governorship candidate, babajide Sanwo-Olu.

    Yabo said: “We do not have any other party apart from the APC. We did massive campaigns and rallies in different places during the time of Asiwaju and we did it for free. When  Fashola came, we did the same and we ensured that he was voted as governor. Also, when Ambode came, the whole Arewa community gathered together and we gave our full support.

    “Now that it is Sanwo-Olu, we will not relent. We will do as we have always done and our support is guaranteed.”

    Yabo said he has already begun consultations with various Arewa groups in Lagos State to ensure massive support for Sanwo-Olu.

    He added: “We Arewa of Lagos state will support APC. APC is taking governorship and presidency in 2019.
