“The board had visited the centres and certified them technically fit to conduct the examination.

“The Lagos office of the board had also been able to resolve complaints brought before it by intending candidates as the Servicom and Public Relations division of the board was dedicated to treat such cases.

“We have been solving their problems and maybe one or two problems we are unable to solve locally, we refer it online to the head office for necessary attention,” he said.

The coordinator, however, warned candidates not to attempt to bring items such as glasses, scientific wrist watches that were banned by the board to the examination premises, saying that they were unacceptable.

“This is already a law pronounced by the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Is’haq Oloyede and anyone caught with such items will be sanctioned.

“Except for special cases, such as recommended eye glasses proven beyond doubt that would be understandable,” he said.

Bamisoye also advised parents to keep off the examination centres because their coming would add no value to the conduct of the examination, but may rather hinder its success.

“What parents need to do is to get their children prepared, give them transport money and allow them to go and write their examination, after which they return home,” he said.

SERVICOM is to re-evaluate Ministries Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to check the level of improvement in service delivery, Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli, national coordinator of the service has said.

Akajemeli spoke with News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on yesterday in Abuja.

She said the re-evaluation was necessary to check the level of improvement in service delivery and find out if MDAs adhered to SERVICOM’s recommendations.

“From evaluation, we submit reports to the management of the MDAs and then make recommendations on ways to fill in the gaps discovered.

“In the cause of submitting reports, issues may arise and some of these issues borders on training, decentralisation of their processes and reducing number of days for accessing specific services.

“These are the things we go back to check from time to time and it’s a continuous process and we track progress for sustained improvement”, she said.

She added that some of the organisations were referred to the SERVICOM institute for service improvement training, but if they can’t make it to the institute we go to their offices and train them.

  • SERVICOM calls for training of flight announcers for audibility

The National Coordinator of Service Compact (SERVICOM), Mrs Nnenna Akajemeli, has called for the training of flight announcers at Nigeria airports to ensure clarity and audibility to boost service delivery.

Akajemeli made the call while presenting the Servicom Compliance Evaluation Reports of Seven Evaluated airports to the management of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) in Abuja.

The Servicom boss, who gave FAAN pass mark in their service delivery, noted that customers usually miss their flights due to inaudible announcements of flight schedules at the airports.

She said the airport was the image making window of the country and it was important to put our best foot forward.

She added that the toilet facilities were not clean and inadequate and that trolley charges should be made clear to stop extortion of customers by touts.

“FAAN should ensure that bold and adequate signage were provided to guide customers in accessing services easily.

“More number of toilets should be provided and kept clean at all times. In addition to announcements in English, information should equally be provided in Pidgin, Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba.

“More working tools and facilities should be provided, e.g scanners and X-ray machines as well as public address systems and flight information display system,” she said

Akajemeli also called on FAAN authorities to address human trafficking, which she said was majorly done through the airports.

FAAN Managing Director Mr Saleh Dunoma, thanked Servicom for the assessment, saying that the report would enable them to improve their services.

Dunoma, who was represented by Capt. Rabiu Yaduda, acknowledged that the accent of the announcers were fake and that immediate measures would be taken to address it.

“The accent is very artificial, we need to appreciate our accent as Nigerians and be proud of it. The scores given to us by Servicom is not good enough, we need to improve, other airports are getting 70 per cent and that should be our goal.

” We will use your report as a guide in addition to what we have to improve in our airports and meet up with world standard,” he said.
