    Why I will never return to BBNaija show – Seyi Awolowo

    Seyi Awolowo, a former Big Brother Naija housemate, has vowed never to return to the reality show.

    He made this declaration on a recent episode of the Old Secrets podcast, citing the harsh treatment he received during his time on the show. 

    Awolowo claimed he was bullied by “very low, insignificant, and uneducated people,” and criticised some educated individuals for staying silent despite knowing the truth.

    According to Awolowo, these educated elites prioritised convenience over standing up for what was right. 

    He emphasised that if given the chance to go back in time, he wouldn’t change any of his actions in the house, as he has learned from his experiences and been chastised enough. 

    “I will never go back to the show, organisers can’t even call me.

    “I allow myself get bullied by very very insignificant and uneducated people. Not to mention the educated ones amongst that have the ability to see the truth but because of convenience, refused to stand by it,” he said

    Seyi participated in the show’s fourth season, also known as the “Pepper Dem” edition in 2019. 

    He emerged as a finalist, finishing in fifth place out of the housemates. 

    During his time in the house, Seyi showcased his honest conversations, ability to connect with others, and emotional intelligence.

    Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Seyi Awolowo, has said that many men find it difficult to commit to one woman due to the abundance of attractive women.

    Speaking on The Outside The Box Podcast, Seyi explained that discipline is essential to remaining faithful, likening the temptation to being surrounded by a variety of appealing options.

    “Concentrating on one woman is difficult, especially with the number of beauties that are out there. Nigerian women are beautiful. It’s difficult to concentrate on one woman. Today, you will see egusi, tomorrow efo riro, pizza and sandwich. It’s very difficult,” he said.

    He described loyalty as a “gift from God,” while also stressing the need for self-awareness and personal responsibility.

    “It’s how you manage yourself and know how to be practical with yourself. Some people tend to bite off more than they can chew. If you can handle it \[dating multiple women], handle it right. But if you can’t, don’t,” he added.

    Reality star cum actor Seyi Awolowo has said that the only way Nigeria can eradicate the challenges facing it is for the leaders to be accountable.

    He said the solution to the country’s political instability lies in accountable leadership, transparency, and active citizenship participation.

    Seyi told The Nation that the country’s challenges can be phased out if the aforementioned are put in place.

    “The solution to Nigeria’s political instability lies in accountable leadership, transparency, and active citizen participation. We need leaders who are genuinely committed to the country’s development and policies that prioritise the well-being of the populace,” he said.

    When asked whether he would consider politics, he said, “Politics is always a consideration. However, I believe in contributing to society in various ways. Whether or not I go into politics, my focus will always be on making a positive impact.”

    Seyi Awolowo has shared some insights into the complexities and challenges of navigating social media.

    The BBNaija alumnus did not hold back in sharing his thoughts on the impact of digital interactions on personal and professional life.

    “Social media is a double-edged sword,” Awolowo stated. “While it gives you a platform to express yourself, it also opens you up to scrutiny.”

    Awolowo further opened up on challenges faced saying “I think I’m often misunderstood because people judge based on snippets rather than the whole picture.”

    Despite the pressures, Awolowo maintains a focus on his goals and ambitions. “I try to stay focused on my goals and not let negative comments derail me,” he said. “One bad comment can just leave a long-lasting bad taste in one’s mouth, and it can be difficult to shake off.”

    He also spoke about the delicate balance required in responding to criticism. “The painful part is that because of the popularity status, I am restricted from responding to some people the way I would like to, which might sound very savage,” Awolowo admitted.

    Seyi Awolowo, a reality TV star and grandson of the late Nigerian nationalist Obafemi Awolowo, has opened up about his challenging childhood experiences.

    In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Seyi revealed that his father disowned him multiple times due to the complexities of growing up in a polygamous family.

    Seyi said his father had three wives and kept detailed files on each of his children, reducing their identities to mere names on a list.

    He recalled his father writing letters to cut off his children, leaving them feeling disconnected and unloved.

    “My dad disowned me a couple of times. Not just me, a couple of us, my dad married more than one wife. He married three wives. We all have files. As of right now, your name is just Seyi, full stop,” he said.

    He also said he would choose Headies over Grammys and AMVCA over Oscars.

    Former Big Brother Naija housemate Seyi Awolowo has tendered his unreserved apology to women over a derogatory comment he passed while on the show. 

    The Nation reported that Seyi’s comment bordered on sexual harassment and violence during a discussion with fellow housemates.

    He said he would encourage his sons to “run train” on people’s daughters.

    The reality TV star who remarked on hoping to have three male children having given birth to one already, said: “I gave birth to a boy first. He will f*ck your daughter. I have a ‘shina’ account for my son. I pay money into it. I have it for one of my guy’s sons. I have that account for a lot of my boys’ sons. They will f*ck your daughter….”

    His remark was condemned by viewers and social media users, who accused Awolowo of promoting rape culture and objectification of women.

    While he has since apologised, in an interview on Channels Television’s breakfast show, Awolowo described women as the most powerful beings on earth.

    “Our women are the most powerful beings on earth,” he said. “They bring life. Even we men don’t bring life, we bring things but we don’t carry life.”

    He described his comment as an explosion of emotions.

    “At that moment, I was really angry at a lot of things. It was just an explosion of emotions,” he added. “I really I’m sorry for that, for the word I used. It was a particular word and I really regret that word because that was not my intention”, he said.

    Former Big Brother Naija housemate Seyi Awolowo has hinted at the possibility of venturing into politics. 

    In a recent interview on Channels TV’s ‘The Morning Brief’, the 33-year-old 20th grandson of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, cited the current state of affairs in Nigeria as a motivating factor for his interest.

    “To be honest, I would have loved not to get into politics but with the way it seems in the country, I might have to. I would just have liked to enjoy and be on the backbone of entertainment,” he said.

    He further stated he plans to stay rooted in Nigeria stemming from his desire to ensure that his family experiences the richness of their homeland.

    “But I have a family that I’m looking forward to growing in this country, I’m not trying to ‘japa’(emigrate). I want them to experience Nigeria the way I experienced Nigeria.

    “You know being able to enjoy the full 36 states, go anywhere you want to, interact with other tribes. Just be a Nigerian in your country and not be limited to certain conditions and policies that can change at any time in a foreign country,” he said.

    However, he has expressed a need for more challenging roles, particularly those that netizens least expect him to excel in.

    Seyi emphasized that casting directors consider factors like his voice and appearance when selecting roles for him.

    In an interview with Sunday Scoop, the two-time Big Brother Naija contestant discussed his career aspirations, expressing a strong desire to venture beyond his comfort zone and embrace more demanding roles that go beyond the typical “good guy” characters in movies.

    Seyi has expressed interest in portraying roles that defy expectations, including characters like a father, a bus driver, or other unexpected personas.

    He said: “I really appreciate all the producers who have called me for jobs and are allowing me to put my acting skills to good use. I would like to believe that my voice and physique have influenced many of the roles I get.

    “But, that is a double-edged sword, because it might make me to be stereotyped. Moving forward though, I would love to play more challenging roles. It won’t be bad to play the role of a bus conductor or father; roles that people won’t see coming.”
