Nigeria emerges West Africa’s climate leader, eyes investment gains at COP30

Nigeria has taken the lead in West Africa’s climate action drive with the submission of its Third Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC 3.0) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), positioning the country for fresh global partnerships and investments at the ongoing COP30 summit in Belém, Brazil.

Vice President Kashim Shettima is expected to unveil Nigeria’s green transition roadmap before world leaders, articulating the country’s strategy to convert climate commitments into actionable projects that attract financing and technology.

Director-General of the National Council on Climate Change (NCCC), Mrs. Tenioye Majekodunmi, announced Nigeria’s milestone in an interview with journalists ahead of the COP30 opening session.

She noted that Nigeria’s early submission of its NDC 3.0 makes it the first West African nation to do so and “a continental frontrunner in climate ambition and readiness.”

According to a statement on Thursday by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, Majekodunmi said “this is the implementation COP we’ve all been waiting for. For Nigeria, the submission of our NDC 3.0 marks a turning point. It’s time to move from paper to projects”.

She disclosed that the Federal Government’s recent approval of a National Carbon Market Framework and operationalisation of the National Climate Change Fund would further boost investor confidence, signalling that “Nigeria is open for high-integrity carbon investments delivering real mitigation and community benefits.”

According to her, the Belem summit provides a unique “global matchmaking platform” for Nigeria to showcase its readiness for sustainable climate financing.

She also revealed that Nigeria will use COP30 to strengthen South–South cooperation on climate matters, particularly through collaboration among the Amazon, Congo, and Guinea forest regions.

In her words: “Being in the Amazon for this summit represents a symbolic convergence of forest regions. The dialogue between Brazil, the Congo Basin, and West Africa is critical to advancing global forest protection and the Belem agenda.”

Also speaking, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications (Office of the Vice President), Mr. Stanley Nkwocha, said Nigeria’s participation at COP30 underscores President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to the Paris Agreement and Sustainable Development Goal 13 on climate action.

“For Nigeria, it’s not just about attendance; it’s about demonstrating leadership and implementing Article 13 of the Paris Accord on transparency and climate responsibility,” Nkwocha stated, adding that Nigeria remains firmly committed to achieving a 32 per cent reduction in emissions by 2035.

Vice President Shettima will join global leaders, development partners, and investors in high-level sessions on “Climate and Nature: Forests and Oceans” and will deliver Nigeria’s national climate action address at the leaders’ plenary later this week.

Why political office holders should serve with passion, by Shettima

Vice President Kashim Shettima has said political office holders need to serve their fatherland with unwavering passion and firm dedication to good governance.

He said Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri embodies these virtues, which have endeared him to his people and beyond.

Shettima spoke yesterday at the public presentation of a book, titled: Leadership Chronicles of Governor Duoye Diri, a public lecture, and the institution of a professorial chair on leadership and good governance organised by University of Lagos (UNILAG) Consult Limited in honour of the Bayelsa State governor.

The book, authored and compiled by Prof Hope Eghagha and veteran media expert, Sola Ojewusi, provides a reflective journey through Diri’s stewardship as governor. It also chronicles his milestones in governance, crisis management, and developmental strides.

The Vice President, who was represented by Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, said: “The legacy we build today becomes the history told tomorrow. So, let us live with unwavering dedication to our duty. This is what Dr. Duoye Diri has embodied. This celebration is a testament to the unwavering service and dedication to good governance.”

Delivering the keynote address, Plateau State Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang reflected on the nature of leadership.

He said: “Leaders are not extraordinary people. They are ordinary people lifted from amongst the people who share the passion of the people, the dreams of the people, and are ready to put their lives on the line in the pursuit of justice, fairness, and equity.’

Mutfwang offered a personal testimony to Diri’s “vehement zeal” in championing the cause of the Niger Delta.

Diri, who accepted the honour on behalf of the people of Bayelsa State, expressed gratitude to the authors and UNILAG for the honour they accorded his name.

“Going through the pages inspired me even more to remain steadfast in my duties,” Governor Diri said. “The development of Bayelsa has always been and will always remain my top priority. Every stride we make, every project we commission is for the prosperity of our people.”

Commenting on his recent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Bayelsa governor described the move as a strategic decision taken solely in the interest of Bayelsa.

According to him, the shift in political alignment was borne out of his desire to unlock new opportunities for the oil-rich state — a goal he said is better served within the ruling party’s political structure.

“I have no hidden agenda,” he declared. “My decision to join the APC was made with the best interests of Bayelsans at heart. It is about providing roads, improving security, boosting agriculture, expanding education, and creating jobs for our youth. With President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima, I am confident that the synergy we’ve built will lead to greater progress.”

A former Managing Director Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Chief Timi Alaibe, highlighted the unique nature of the event, saying real-time leadership documentation was a practice he had previously only seen in advanced democracies.

“Institutionalising real-time leadership with practical documentation is essential so that as we govern, it is documented… It’s something unique,” he stated.

Alaibe placed Diri’s governance within the larger context of the Niger Delta’s evolution – from violent struggles to peaceful development.

He affirmed the importance of the event with the adage: “When it is not written, as you journalists will say, it didn’t happen. Today it has been documented.”

The chief host and Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Prof. Folasade T. Ogunsola, stated that the university recognised leadership not merely as a position of authority but as a responsibility grounded in “service, integrity, accountability”.

She emphasised the timeliness of the event, saying: “Our country is at the verge of another cycle of emergence of leaders across different tiers of government.”

Ogunsola described the endowment of the chair as a “commendable step” that would provide a structured platform for research and mentorship, which is deeply needed “in this fledgling country”.

Quoting Nelson Mandela, she added that the initiative ensured Governor Diri’s life and governance would have a lasting significance by investing in education.

Shettima heads to Brazil for COP30

Vice President Kashim Shettima on Tuesday departed Abuja for Belém, Brazil where he will represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference, COP30, scheduled for November 6–7.

Hosted by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, the summit will take place in the Amazonian city of Belém, capital of Pará state, with a focus on “Climate Action and Implementation”, zeroing in on adaptation, biodiversity, forest protection and climate justice.

A statement by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, said Shettima will join global leaders, development partners, and business executives to advance Nigeria’s climate agenda and deepen partnerships for sustainable development.

On the sidelines, Shettima will hold bilateral meetings centred on securing Nigeria’s entry into global carbon markets, a move expected to unlock between $2.5 billion and $3 billion annually in climate finance over the next decade.

Following COP30, the Vice President will proceed to Brasília for a reciprocal working visit to Brazilian Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, who visited Nigeria in June. That visit yielded MoUs in defence, agricultural technology, energy cooperation and cultural exchange.

    • Nabena kicks over governor’s entry into ruling party

Vice President Kashim Shettima and governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are due in Yenagoa on Monday to formally receive Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri into the ruling party.

Diri had resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on October 15 ahead of his defection.

Functionaries of the APC are said to be working round the clock to ensure a successful event.

But some APC members in the state are displeased with the circumstances surrounding the governor’s defection.

One of them is Yekini Nabena,a former deputy national publicity secretary of the APC who, yesterday, sought to downplay the coming of the governor.

Nabena alleged moves to ‘destroy’ the existing leadership of the APC ahead of the governor’s defection.

He told reporters in Abuja that while he was not opposed to Diri joining the APC, it would be wrong of him (Gov) to “destroy some people and the existing leadership of the APC in Bayelsa state because he wants to take full control of the party.”

He said: “We have traced the recent happenings in Bayelsa state to Governor Douye Diri’s camp, especially the arrest rumours of NDDC Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku (PhD).

“The plan is to destroy the existing organs and prominent members of the party before he (Governor Diri) formally decamps APC on Monday.

“But up till now, we have not found an answer to the question of what Governor Douye Diri is bringing to the APC. This is a Governor that his Deputy is not defecting with him. Hence, he is plotting to impeach the deputy governor.

“This is a governor that even some State House of Assembly members have rejected. About 90 percent of the serving National Assembly members, including Senator Dickson and other high profile lawmakers are not on the same page with him.

“This is a governor who is not in control of his local constituency, not to talk of his entire Senatorial District. We ask Governor Douye Diri again to tell Nigerians who is running after him or what he is running after?”

Diri is the fourth PDP governor to defect to the APC in the last few months, following in the footsteps of Sheriff Oborevwori (Delta), Umo Eno (Akwa Ibom), Peter Mbah (Enugu).

Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas is also on the verge of joining the APC.

Kefas, at a meeting with APC youth stakeholders in Abuja on Wednesday confirmed that he was on his way to the APC.

Rikwense Muri, the Taraba State APC Youth Vanguard’s publicity secretary quoted the governor as saying at the meeting that Taraba could no longer afford to remain isolated from the mainstream of national politics.

He said his decision to realign politically was driven by the higher goal of ensuring greater development, improved security, and increased federal presence in the state.

He added: “I am guided by the need to put Taraba first. Our state must take its rightful place in national development, and that can only happen when we work hand in hand with the centre.”

Court sacks Zamfara Rep for defecting from PDP to APC

The Federal High Court in Abuja has sacked Rep Abubakar Gummi, for defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to All Progressives Congress (APC).

Gummi, represents Gummi/Bukkuyum Federal Constituency of Zamfara in the House of Representatives,

Justice Obiora Egwuatu, in a judgment, restrained House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, from recognising Gummi as member representing Gummi/ Bukkuyum Federal Constituency.

Justice Egwuatu also directed the Independent National Electoral Commission. (INEC) to conduct a fresh election to fill the vacancy for the constituency within 30 days from the day of the judgment.

The suit, marked: FHC/ABJ/CS/1803/2024, was filed by the PDP and its state’s Chairman, Jamilu Jibomagayaki, as 1st and 2nd plaintiffs.

The duo, in the originating summons dated Nov. 28 but filed Nov. 29, 2024, by Ibrahim Bawa, SAN, had sued Hon Abubakar Suleiman Gummi; Speaker of the House of Representatives and INEC as 1st to 3rd defendants respectively.

The plaintiffs had set out four questions for determination and sought nine reliefs for determination.

They asked whether, having regard to the provision of Section 68 (1) (9) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), it was not unconstitutional for Gummi to retain his seat as member in the House.

They said he defected from PDP which sponsored him for the election to Gummi/Bukkuyum Federal Constituency to APC, when there was no division in the party, among other questions.

One of the reliefs sought was a declaration that it was unconstitutional for the Speaker to refuse/fail to declare Gummi’s seat vacant.

Gummi, in his response through his lawyer, filed a notice of preliminary objection and a counter affidavit.

The lawmaker, in his argument, argued that his decampment was due to the crisis within the PDP.

He said contrary to the deposition of the plaintiffs, the lingering unresolved internal and external crisis both at the national level and in his constituency is the reason for his defection from the party to APC.

Gummi said the crisis degenerated into a situation where he could no longer represent his constituents properly and ensure that they all benefit from shared distribution of the dividends of democracy within the bounds of law, and without undue interference from anyone or anything.

Delivering the judgment, Justice Egwuatu granted all the plaintiffs’ reliefs.

The judge condemned the attitude of some politicians who see defection as a normal culture.

“Before I take my fingers off the keyboard, let me just add that politicians should respect the wishes of the electorates that elected them into office.

“A situation where the electorates have made their choices between different political parties and their candidates based on the manifestos and marketability of such a political party, it is legally and morally wrong for such a politician to abandon the party under which platform he or she was elected into office and move to a rival party without relinquishing the mandate of his or her former party.

“If a person must decamp, don’t decamp with the mandate of the electorates.

“Don’t transfer the votes garnered on the platform of one party to another party.

“A politician has no such rights to transfer votes of a political party to another political party.

“The law must punish such moves by taking away the benefits bestowed upon the decampee politician by the electorates.

“And that is what Section 68 (1) (g) of the Constitution has done.

“Political prostitution must not be rewarded.

“In total, I resolve all the issues in favour of the plaintiffs and against the defendants,” Justice Egwuatu said.

The judge, therefore, ordered that Gummi, having defected from PDP to APC “before the expiration of the period the House was elected, automatically loses his seat as member of the House of Representatives.

He made an order restraining Gummi from further receiving monies as salaries, allowances or howsoever called in his capacity as member representing the constituency.

He also made an order directing the lawmaker to refund to the Federal Government all monies collected as salaries, allowances or howsoever called as member representing the constituency from Oct. 30, 2024 to the date of judgment.

“An order is made directing that the evidence of the refund of all monies collected as salaries, allowances or howsoever called be filed in the registry of this court within 30 days of the judgment of this court,” he said.

Justice Egwuatu consequently awarded a fine of N500, 000 in favour of the plaintiffs and against the defendants.

    • VP seeks support for President, dispels marginalisation claims

Vice President Kashim Shettima yesterday assured northern leaders that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is fair to all ethnic nationalities across the country.

The Vice President dispelled claims of marginilasion against any ethnic nationality.

He informed the northern leaders that the Tinubu administration was working to address the social and economic challenges plaguing the country, stressing that many of those complaining were doing so out of greed and selfishness.

Shettima said this yesterday while hosting a delegation of Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), led by its Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman, Alhaji Bashir Dalhatu, at the State House in Abuja.

The Vice President urged northern leaders to rally behind President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

A statement by the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the President on Media and Communications in the Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, said Shettima told the delegation that it was time the North united behind the President’s reform efforts, urging them to resist the antics of those he called mischief makers to fragment the unity of Nigeria.

He drew a distinction between greed and grievance, as propounded by those he called “architects of modern conflict”.

Shettima noted that “while some agitations arise from genuine grievances seeking justice and fairness, others are fuelled by greed – by the quest to exploit disorder for selfish gain”.

The Vice President said the task before the Tinubu administration is to spot the difference between genuine grievance and greed with a view to embracing “legitimate calls for equity and inclusion, and to isolate the forces that seek to profit from chaos”.

He added: “We have proven, time and again, that our diversity is our strength, that our differences in tribe, faith, and geography are the very bricks that make this house of destiny we live in. This is why we must continue to resist all attempts to divide us or stir mischief among us. Our future depends on unity, and unity must remain our creed,” he stated.

Debunking the claims of ethnic and religious bias against some sections of the country, Shettima said every group, faith, and tribe has a voice in national affairs under the Tinubu administration.

The Vice President assured all that no section of the country would be marginalised.

“What we do as a government is to ensure that every group, every community, every faith, and every voice finds its place in the national conversation. We will never accommodate the marginalisation of any group.”

Our policies are designed to create opportunities for all; to lift every community through inclusion, education, and enterprise,” he said.

Shettima also assured northern leaders that they remained an integral part of the Tinubu-led government, adding that the administration was ready to partner the ACF to advance the region’s development and the nation’s progress.

According to him, the North, once known for stability and unity, now faces insecurity, mistrust, and economic decline.

Shettima stressed the need to restore peace and justice in the region through constitutional means.

“This government is yours. Your interests shall always find representation here, for I am one of you. Where there is a shortcoming, you have direct access to me. We exist to serve you and uphold the values that make the North an equal stakeholder in Nigeria’s identity,” he said.

Highlighting efforts to reposition the region, the Vice President said the Renewed Hope Agenda prioritises education, agriculture, industrialisation, and security as pillars of northern revival.

According to him, ongoing reforms through the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) have opened access to tertiary education for millions of students, while the government is expanding vocational and technical centres to prepare young people for roles in agriculture, manufacturing, and technology.

He added that Nigeria has moved beyond subsistence farming to large-scale commercial agriculture, turning the North’s vast arable land into the nation’s food and industrial hub.

“We are building agro-processing industries to create jobs and value chains, investing in microfinance systems to support smallholder farmers and MSMEs, and establishing industrial zones in key states, such as Kano, Kaduna, and Sokoto,” he said.

Commenting on the state of security, Shettima stated that restoring peace remained the government’s top priority.

The Vice President also stated that coordinated operations have neutralised bandit leaders and restored stability to many communities.

Dalhatu had praised the Tinubu administration for its bold reforms and applauded Shettima’s support for the President’s vision.

“We are proud of what you are doing as Vice President as well as the achievements of this administration. You are doing a good job of assisting the President in running the affairs of the country in difficult times. We are always happy to identify with you,” he said.

The BoT chairman said the ACF’s visit was meant to show solidarity with the government and to formally invite the Vice President to the forum’s forthcoming 25th anniversary celebration, which will focus on the development of the northern region.

He added that the ACF planned to launch an endowment fund to drive the region’s socio-economic growth and build sectoral models that could be adopted by state governments.

Also, the ACF National Executive Committee Chairman, Mamman Mike Osuman, said the 25th anniversary celebration would highlight the North’s potential and reaffirm its commitment to a united and prosperous Nigeria.

He pledged the forum’s support for the realisation of the Renewed Hope Agenda and other developmental goals of the Tinubu administration.

Other members of the delegation included ACF Vice Chairman, Senator Ibrahim Ida; Secretary General, Murtala Aliyu; BoT Vice Chairman, Ibrahim Mai-Sule; Alhaji Nasiru Danu; Baba Ahmed Jidda; Mahmud Yayale Ahmed; Lt.-Gen. Abdurahman Dambazau (retd.); former IGP M. D. Abubakar (retd.); DIG Habila Joshak (retd.); Beni Lar; Maimuna Yaya Abubakar; Aishatu M. S. Ismail; H. E. The Federal Government yesterday outlined several initiatives being undertaken to provide enabling environment for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as part of government’s agenda to boost inclusive growth and development.

Speaking yesterday at the launch of the 9th Expanded National MSME Clinic in Katsina, Vice President Kashim Shettima reaffirmed President Bola Tinubu’s resolve to build inclusive national prosperity through enterprise-driven reforms.

He said the government is empowering entrepreneurs as the engine of sustainable economic growth.

He announced President Tinubu’s approval of an unconditional N250,000 grant for each outstanding Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) exhibiting at the event.

Shettima said: “This is a non-repayable grant. It reflects the President’s commitment to removing the barriers that have historically held back our MSMEs. We are building a nation where every Nigerian entrepreneur — from our cities to our rural communities — has access to the tools and opportunities needed to thrive”.

He said the grant aligns with broader reforms under the Renewed Hope Agenda, including the N75 billion Manufacturers Fund targeted at revitalising the industrial sector and expanding access to finance for productive enterprises.

He noted that under the Rural Area Programme on Investment for Development (RAPID), 23 rural-based MSMEs in Katsina have already received N112 million in support.

Highlighting the success of the N5 billion Katsina MSME Growth Fund, a joint initiative between the federal and state governments, Shettima pointed out that N576 million had been disbursed to 237 beneficiaries since June 2024.

He said: “This matching fund is designed to boost local businesses, and Katsina has shown that it understands what it means to empower entrepreneurs”.

In his address titled “Katsina: The Spirit of Enterprise,” Shettima lauded Governor Dikko Umaru Radda for his innovation in establishing the Katsina State Enterprise Development Agency (KASEDA), describing it as a model for subnational enterprise development.

He said: “We came into office bearing the promise to ease the affairs of our nation, and our gateway to this is the assurance of support for our businesses. Our MSMEs stand as the foundation of this foresight”.

Radda, in his remarks, said the priority given to MSMEs stems from their central role in driving inclusive economic growth, adding that his administration’s enterprise blueprint is transforming over 100,000 small businesses across the state.

He pledged continued state monitoring and support for participants of the 9th MSME Clinic to ensure access to finance, markets, and sustained growth.

Special Adviser to the President on Job Creation and MSME, Mr. Temitola Adekunle-Johnson, said the administration is coordinating development partners to address barriers affecting entrepreneurs nationwide, particularly access to finance and markets.

Ministers of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, and Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, Barr. Hannatu Musawa, also commended the collaboration between the Federal and Katsina State Governments in promoting capacity building and job creation.

Goodwill messages were delivered by heads of SMEDAN, BOI, NEXIM Bank, and the Nigerian Export Promotion Council, among other institutional partners.

After the clinic launch, the Vice President commissioned two major state projects: the dual carriage Central Mosque–Kofar Murasa–Kiddies Roundabout to WTC Road and the Agricultural Data and Control Centre for the Katsina State Sustainable Platform for Agriculture (KASPA).

He described KASPA as a visionary step in modern agricultural governance.

“Through platforms like KASPA, agriculture can become aspirational again — a career for the young, a calling for the ambitious, and a catalyst for the creative,” Shettima said.

He praised the state government’s foresight, adding: “When states innovate, Nigeria rises. Katsina tells the story of a government that believes in its people’s intelligence, not just their endurance.”

On arrival in Katsina Monday evening, the Vice President attended the maiden Katsina MSME Awards and the Dikko Innovation Academy Graduation Ceremony.

Shettima hailed the state’s historic legacy of scholarship, culture, and innovation, calling on citizens to embrace the Renewed Hope Agenda by leveraging Katsina’s tradition of enterprise and education.

“Katsina must transform again by processing what it already produces best. This city provided the ambience, the hospitality, and the facilities to educate and culture generations of people that we all continue to valorise as our founding fathers”, he said.

Shettima makes teenage girl ‘Vice President for a day’

It was a moment of symbolism and inspiration at the Presidential Villa on Monday when teenager Joy Ogah took over the seat of the Vice President for a day — a gesture that underscored the Tinubu administration’s commitment to empowering the girl-child and promoting gender inclusivity in leadership.

The symbolic takeover, facilitated by PLAN International, was part of activities marking this year’s International Day of the Girl-Child.

Vice President Kashim Shettima assured stakeholders and development partners of the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to promoting girl-child education across Nigeria.

According to a statement by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima said among other government interventions in girl-child education, the school feeding programme remains essential.

Speaking during a meeting with a PLAN International delegation led by its Director of Programme, Quality, and Innovation, Helen Mfonobong Idiong on Monday, Senator Shettima invited a teenager, Joy Ogah, to take over the seat of the Vice President for a day and address the nation.

He noted that studies have shown that well-nourished children are well-formed.

“We will continue the engagement with PLAN International and see where the force and strength of government can be brought to bear on your solid advice on girl-child education,” the Vice President told the PLAN delegation.

He further told the delegation: “In President Bola Tinubu, you have an ally you can believe in and invest your trust in,” adding that the administration is passionate and deeply committed to advancing girl-child education.

The Vice President also described First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, as a symbol of how a properly empowered and supported girl-child can blossom into a great leader.

He recalled that when the First Lady served in the Senate, she contributed actively to debates, especially those relating to girl-child education.

Speaking from the Vice President’s seat, Ogah expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent millions of Nigerian girls.

She noted that across Nigeria, 10.5 million children are out of school, with over 60 percent of them being girls.

Ogah emphasised that Nigerian girls can become leaders if the necessary interventions are implemented by relevant authorities and stakeholders.

She called on the government, policymakers, development partners, and citizens to act strategically in advancing girl-child education.

“We must invest in education that is safe and inclusive for every child in Nigeria,” she said.

Ogah urged relevant authorities to enforce laws that protect the rights of every girl-child and highlighted the need to provide free sanitary products in schools, as well as ensure access to water, sanitation, and nutrition for the Nigerian child.

“When girls are protected, peace becomes possible,” she added.

She continued: “I may be the Vice President for a day, but the struggles I represent cannot end in a day. They must continue in our policies, our classrooms, our conversations, and our budgets.”

According to her, every girl deserves a classroom, a choice, dignity, and not silence.
