  • Wizkid, Pasuma, others for Idumota day

    Pop stars, Small Doctor, Olamide, Wizkid, Tiwa Savage, Indowest, Malaika, Pasuma, Osupa and K1 will entertain at the Idumota Day celebration which will hold between September 25 and October 1.

    Organisers said that security has been put in place for the week-long fiesta which holds in Lagos Island. And according to the chairman planning committee, Alhaji Azeez Adekunle Lawal a.k.a Kunle Poly, the security would include men of the Nigeria Army and Nigeria Police Force.

    Kunle Poly also told all invitees not to nurse any fear, adding that all the aforementioned security personnel would  be fully on ground.

    The celebration will also feature sporting activities like football competition, table tennis, Ayo, Ludo , skipping rope, dancing competition, snookers etc.  Aside festivities, there would also be charity events.

    “During the course of the event, stationeries will be distributed to primary and the secondary schools in the community and also the orphanage homes will be visited. After the celebration, a library will be built in the community.”

  • ‘Small Doctor’, Agege LGA to partner on: ‘Agege to the world’

    Mr Rotimi Sulyman, the Special Adviser on Media and Strategy to the chairman of the council, Alhaji Ganiyu Egunjobi, confirmed this on Tuesday.

    The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the concert tagged: “Agege to the World,’’ is an initiative of OIT Dynasty Incorporation, Small Doctor’s record label.

    Sulyman quoted the artiste who grew up in Agege  neighbourhood as saying that the event is to breed future stars through entertainment activities.

    He said that it was also to engage the youths of the area in productive ventures.

    He added that Adekunle also known as “Omo Iya Teacher’’ said that the decision for the collaboration was to make the annual event enjoy government’s support and gain acceptability widely.

    The singer also said that the concert would include: talent-hunt for musicians, dancers and deejays.

    The PRO also quoted Adekunle to have spoken about his love for the community.

    “I am an Agege ambassador and filled with love for the area.

    “I always look forward to the opportunity to promote my neighbourhood to the point of composing a song for it, an anthem, in one of my songs.

    “The concert will feature young talented dancers, musicians, and Deejays from Agege.

    “In between it, I will have a motivational talk for the youths in attendance during which I will share my grass to grace story with them,” the 21-year-old Adekunle was quoted to have said.

    Sulyman also quoted Egunjobi as paying tribute to the commitment of Adekunle to Agege.

    The PRO said that Egunjobi enjoined other entertainment celebrities who had nexus with the community to emulate Adekunle’s nationalistic zeal.

    “I must commend you for this initiative and opportunity given to the Council to partner with you on it.

    “I must confess that we need more of programmes like this to take our restive youth population out of the streets and positively engage them.

    “I say without fear of contradiction that Agege is the home of music in Nigeria given the high number of artistes including icons that at one time or another lived in this community.

    The  council  chief listed them to include,“Sikiru Ayinde Barrister, Kollington Ayinla, Ayinla Omowura, Shina Peters, Love Azeez, Fatai Olowoyo, Fancy Aiye-Alamu, to Dayo Kujore.’’

    Also speaking, the council Secretary, Gbenga Abiola, said that the concert was in line with the youth empowerment and wealth creation programme of the Egunjobi-led administration.

    “The partnership support extended to the concert is on an account of the commitment of this administration to empower the youth.

    “It is also to grow the economy of the area through productive engagement of our teeming youths,” he said.

    For this special edition of the live show which attracts a N1,000 gate fee, organisers say families are going to have a swell time at the show with loads of freebies.

    For 10 years, Nnenna and Friends show has been impacting children’s lives positively with series of educative kids programs in Nigeria, including Brainpower Game, the TV show, the magazine and Live show.

  • Davido, Wizkid, Small Doctor, others win 2018 Headies awards

    Popular entertainers Davido and Small Doctor are among the numerous artistes that won the 2018 Headies awards early on Sunday.

    While millionaire Davido won the award as Best Pop single and artist of the year, Small Doctor won the 2018 best street hop artiste.

    Others are MI- Best rap single; Teni- Rookie of the year; Reminisce- Best rap album.

    Others are – Innocent Idibia (2face) and Ayodeji Balogun (Wizkid).

    The awards on Saturday night, stretching into the early hours of Sunday were given at the 12th edition of HEADIES which took place at the Eko Convention Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

    The Headies award formerly known as the Hip Hop World Awards was established in 2006 by the Hip Hop World Magazine of Nigeria to recognise outstanding achievements in the Nigerian music industry.

    It usually features performances by established and promising artists.

    Wizkid received the best music video award, the best R and B pop album award and the viewers’ choice award for his song ” Come closer”.

    2face had the best reggae dancehall single award for his song ” Holyholy”.

    Other winners are Mayorkun with next rated award; Omawumi- female best vocal performance; Praiz- male best vocal performance; Nasty C- Africa artiste of the year; Aramide- Best Alternative Song.

    Simi- Best recording of the year; Yemi Alade- Best Performer; Tiwa Savage- Best collabo; Kidominant- Producer of the year; MI- Lyricist on the roll.

    Lagos State and some companies were recognised as industry brand ambassadors.

    They were MTN, Globacom, Federal Inland Revenue Service, Nigerian Breweries, Pepsi, and Hennessey.

    It was a night of thrills when music sensations Small Doctor, Sean Tizzle, CDQ led other artistes to ignite the spirit of fans and fun seekers to lock down the city of Ibadan as the rising entertainment outfit, Kafumukache Entertainment to launch itself in a grand style.

    The event tagged: The Unveiling packaged by the newest entertainment outfit in the country, was graced by notable faces in the industry, such as popular comedian, Omobaba; actor, Muyiwa Ademola, among others, and anchored by Peteru and Kiekie.

     

    The popular Mauve 21 premises was filled to its capacity. The event was not only about music performance as it also featured talent hunt for up-and-coming musicians, precisely rappers and comedians.

    The creative display of the finalists both in the rapping and comedy categories was one of the highpoints of the event, where Sultan won as the best rapper and Tachi emerged the comedy category, just as they the entertainment outfit signed the duo on a one year deal.

    Sean Tizzle and CDQ respectively thrilled the event, while the venue came alive when Small Doctor ‘stormed’ the stage, as well as splashed cash and branded T-Shirt to best dancer.

    Aside from dazzling all with his popular hits, he did not leave the stage without an advice to the youths: “There is no limitation to what a street boy can achieve. I was once a bus conductor and okada rider, but I rediscovered myself and here I am today. I thank God for turning my life around.”

    The Chief Operating Officer, Mr Olukinni Folusho, said the outfit had not only come to set a new standard in the industry, but also take charge of the entertainment industry and promote the up-and-coming talents.

    Decorated artiste and one of the surprises of 2017, Michael Owusu Addo, aka Small Doctor, has expressed optimism that he would surpass last year’s exploits in 2018, while admitting that 2017 was undoubtedly a good year.

    In a chat with The Nation, Small Doctor says that one of his biggest surprises was when his hit single, ‘Penalty’, placed him on the global map, earning him an incredibly huge fan-base and sell out shows.

    He further stated that he chose his local dialect to perform scoring him a major audience with his delivery and the impact he makes on people who can’t but dance to the energy coined in his music.

    “The major highlight for me was when my song, ‘Penalty’, was played during a basketball match of the Dallas Mavericks Vs Toronto Raptors,” he said.

    “And this was also given a major play by Dallas Mavericks’ official DJ, Poison Ivy. This without hesitation is a great way to end 2017.”

    The artiste recalls how he couldn’t hold down himself as he made an outburst of this on his social media platforms.

    Speaking further, Small Doctor said that he is looking forward to winning awards and hosting corporate shows.

    “I’m also looking forward to my fan base spreading like wild fire, more hits, sold out concerts, collaborations and more,” he said.

    MUSICAL raves, Small Doctor and Simi, have vowed to thrill fans when they perform live at GOtv Boxing Night 13, holding on 26 December, 2017 at Landmark Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos.

    The two artistes will be joined by Falz The Bahd Guy and Reekado Banks on the stage at the event.

    Speaking in Lagos, Simi said, “I will be performing live at GOtv Boxing Night 13 with my band, The Banjos. I can hardly contain my excitement because I know it will be incredible. I am looking forward to having the time of my life.”

    On his part, Small Doctor said he will put on a performance that fans will never forget.

    “It will be WOW! I promise to thrill fans and give them an experience they will always remember. I am calling on every fan of mine to come to the show to have plenty of fun,” he said.
