Mobile Trading in 2026: Is It Possible to Trade Effectively from a Smartphone?

We live at a frantic pace and try to accomplish everything possible and even more. Modern conditions require us to be flexible, mobile, and quick to make decisions, and this strongly affects all areas of our lives, including the financial field. Trading is a popular activity today, and regardless of whether you perceive it as your main or additional income, it is extremely important to be able to quickly adapt to new conditions. In this regard, trading from a mobile device has already become a necessity for many traders. Mobile trading is becoming increasingly popular, especially among forex traders, as it gives them freedom to trade at any time and from anywhere in the world. However, many still doubt the effectiveness of such trading, so in this article, we will discuss mobile trading on the forex market in detail, including its principles of work and advantages, and share valuable tips on how to make mobile trading as effective as possible.

What Is Mobile Trading and How Does It Work?

The forex market is the most popular for trading today, and there are different ways to trade. Some choose metatrader5 download, while others trade via the mobile version of this or another platform. First of all, it is important to clarify that mobile trading is the ability to trade on financial markets using gadgets, i.e., smartphones or tablets. Most modern trading platforms offer mobile versions, so all a trader needs to do is install the app on their gadget.

Mobile applications allow you not only to monitor current quotes, but also to perform various operations, conduct market analysis, manage your accounts, and receive economic news in real time. Thus, mobile trading is gaining popularity because it offers flexibility and accessibility, which are essential for successful trading in the ever-changing conditions of the forex market.

The Main Reasons Why Modern Traders Are Increasingly Choosing Mobile Trading

One of the most important reasons for the popularity of the Forex market is that it operates around the clock, 5 days a week. Trading is divided into four main regional periods: the Pacific, Asian, European, and American sessions. This means that traders can trade at any time that suits them, regardless of their time zone. In this case, mobile trading is particularly relevant, as you are not tied to a specific place or time and can trade directly from your smartphone whenever you want. However, this is not the only reason why more and more forex traders, and others, are choosing mobile trading. Read on to find out more.

First and foremost, traders who trade from their smartphones can react instantly to any market changes, which is extremely important in today’s environment. All you need for mobile trading is a smartphone and an internet connection, which means you have access to your trading account from anywhere in the world and never miss out on profitable trading opportunities.

In addition, modern trading platforms for mobile devices are in no way inferior to desktop versions in terms of functionality. They offer traders a wide range of features and tools, such as graphical tools, technical analysis indicators, the ability to perform fundamental analysis, and even allow you to set up notifications about price levels. The convenient and intuitive interface of such applications is particularly relevant for novice traders who are just starting to learn about forex trading.

Finally, mobile trading is ideal for those who combine forex trading with work or study. Without exaggeration, it is trading in your pocket that you can take with you anywhere. For example, you can monitor your assets between classes at university, on a business trip, or even on vacation. Such flexibility and mobility are extremely important in today’s world, where we often have to do several things at once.

Improving the Effectiveness of Mobile Trading: What You Need to Know

Although mobile trading is quite simple and fast, this does not mean that you do not need to make an effort and improve your skills. In forex trading, it is important to constantly deepen your knowledge, learn new instruments, and monitor changes. We have prepared a few tips to help you improve the effectiveness of your mobile trading and make it a pleasant experience.

The first thing you need to do is enable trading alerts and notifications. This will help you stay up to date with market movements, as they will inform you about news announcements, price levels, or when certain technical indicator thresholds are reached.

In addition, don’t be afraid to use the simultaneous management of multiple trades feature. This will allow you to manage and control your positions effectively.

It is also important to use the real-time news feed provided by your mobile trading app. They will keep you informed about economic publications, global events, and market sentiment.

Mobile forex trading is a huge step forward in terms of flexibility and accessibility. Study the market, monitor changes, and follow the tips above to make your mobile forex trading as effective as possible.

  • 5G: Smartphone shipments to Nigeria, others up 3%

5G: Smartphone shipments to Nigeria, others up 3%

The increasing adoption of the fifth generation (5G) in Nigeria and other countries on the continent and the Middle East and Africa (MEA) has pushed smartphone market growth to three per cent YoY in Q2 2025.

The increment in the smartphone shipment was also driven by channel activities, affordable 5G devices, and improved economic conditions.

The increase marks the region’s second straight quarter of growth, according to the latest research from Counterpoint’s Market Monitor service. The increase was supported by Eid al-Adha sales and promotions, improving economic conditions in the region, along with increased consumer purchasing power backed by stronger local currencies. These factors helped unlock pent-up demand, in response to which original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and distributors ramped up device availability, while many brands focused on clearing older stock ahead of the festive sales season.

Commenting on the market dynamics, Senior Analyst Yang Wang said: “The MEA smartphone market entered 2025 with a strong recovery and is now steadying, with ASPs rising seven per cent YoY as consumers shift toward higher-end models.

The sector is also consolidating, with smaller brands struggling to survive while leading players strengthen their position through differentiated products, partnerships, and an expanded offline presence. Chinese brands dominated with a 59per cent market share in Q2 2025, while a few global players continued to perform well in the high-end space.”

On pricing trends, Wang added: “Brands are tailoring their offerings to target both premium buyers and budget-conscious buyers, with Q2 2025 showing a clear shift in consumer demand across different price segments. The budget segment (under $100) expanded further YoY, maintaining the largest share, supported by increased availability, financing models, and the migration from feature phones. It even helped the overall market remain positive in territory during the quarter.

“In contrast, the $200-$299 price band shrank, with its share eaten by higher price categories, which recorded the fastest growth. Consumers are increasingly drawn to devices with advanced features such as AI translation, 5G connectivity, powerful chipsets, telephoto cameras, 120Hz AMOLED displays, and fast charging, though many continue to wait for festive discounts to make these upgrades more affordable.”

Affordable 5G phones continued to drive sales in MEA, attracting both first-time buyers and upgraders. Consequently, 5G adoption in the region climbed to 37per cent during the quarter, fuelled by sub-$100 devices from TECNO, OPPO, and itel in markets such as Nigeria.

The $200-$599 segment also saw strong demand, capturing a 56per cent market share. South Africa, Egypt, and Kenya led 5G smartphone growth. Sales in South Africa were boosted by MTN and Vodacom’s investments and tax reforms, in Egypt due to IMEI whitelisting and local production, and in Kenya by the country’s mobile-first economy driven by M-Pesa and micro-lending partnerships.

Transsion Group commanded a 26per cent share of MEA smartphone shipments, driven mainly by its brands TECNO, Infinix, and itel. TECNO captured a 17per cent share due to its strong distribution network, effective marketing, and affordable, feature-rich devices that dominate the lower- to mid-end segments. Infinix returned to growth, up 14per cent YoY, fuelled by youth-focused marketing, dual-SIM devices, camera features optimized for local needs. It has also been expanding into the $300-$599 range, while maintaining strength in the sub-$200 segment. In contrast, itel has struggled due to weak positioning, supply chain disruptions, and lack of clear strategy, though it continues to target ultra-affordable phones under $100.

Samsung secured the top spot in the MEA smartphone market in Q2 2025, growing one per cent YoY despite cutting its active models drastically to 73 from 105. The brand saw an increase due to the continued success of its A-series, which gained traction through wider retail reach and competitive mid-range offerings. Samsung also benefited from flexible payment options, festive promotions, trade-in programs, and partnerships with operators and local retailers. Heavy investment in marketing, including AI-focused ads reinforced its leadership, while local manufacturing helped reduce costs.

Xiaomi’s shipments grew nine per cent YoY in Q2 2025 as it streamlined its portfolio, cutting active models to 75 from 95. However, limited fresh launches beyond a few ‘hero’ models and a more cautious strategy left room for rivals like TECNO, Samsung, and HONOR to capture share in the mid-to-low-end segment. Despite its wide offline presence and strong brand recognition, Xiaomi’s growth was constrained by aggressive pricing and localized marketing from competitors. The brand has become more conservative this year, and although it is expected to compete closely with Transsion in the mid-lower price tier, shipment gains remain modest. ASP fell 8% YoY as sales skewed heavily toward the $50-$99 price band, reflecting Xiaomi’s reliance on budget models.

Apple’s shipments grew 28per cent YoY, as the brand expanded channel penetration and anticipation for the iPhone 17 launch in Q3 2025 supported momentum. The iPhone 16e recorded triple-digit QoQ percentage growth, boosted by strong promotions, easy financing, and rising demand for higher-end devices, especially in GCC markets.

  • Smartphone unveiled for low income earners

An indigenous firm, Beeptool Communications and Integrated Services Limited, has unveiled a smartphone for low income earners.

According to the firm, the project is part of Beeptool’s commitment to provide communication and digital access to everyone, everywhere and every time.

Chief Executive of the firm John Enoh, who spoke at the unveiling in Abuja, said the affordable smartphone concept was one where manufacturing and ancillary costs were covered by investors and stakeholders and handed over to users who live on less than $2 a day at $1 or the nearest local single currency note.

Enoh said the implementation of the first level in the affordable smartphone project was broken into three stages. Stage one was technical development – design, testing and prototype manufacture of a basic affordable smartphone. The second stage was to raise public awareness and funds to manufacture the first batch of 3,000 units while stage three was to distribute the 3,000 units through.

Chairman of the occasion George Ajonye was confident that the innovation would complement government’s effort at improving the standard of living of Nigerians in communication, access to digital services and financial inclusion.

He said: “This innovation is unique in many ways – it provides access to digital services such as telephone, e-health, financial and data services in rural locations with or without grid power. “In addition, these services are accessible with or without cellular network coverage. You will agree with me that this solution can create several opportunities and spread prosperity across the country.”

Co-Founder/Chief Operating Officer of Beeptool Michael Ige said the innovation would solve the problem of high cost of acquiring a smartphone for low income earners, adding that Beeptool Fintech app, embedded in the smartphone, would provide access to digital and financial economy for the unbanked and underserved in Nigeria.

He urged stakeholders to fund the Oyi-1 affordable smartphone project, noting that with such partnerships, the firm would be able to narrow the access gap and improve the welfare of citizens in Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa.

YouTuber and Idowu took attendees through the creating of magical videos on their mobile, emphasising on how smartphone adoption has made it easier and affordable to shoot a full documentary.

She also recalled how she won ‘The Thompson RTE Mobile Journalism’ award for her first documentary which she filmed with a mobile device.

“My mind was blown, when I won the award despite the fact that more experienced journalists from all around the world competed for the same award, but I won and got to meet mobile enthusiasts who actually used mobile to create TV packages, documentaries and others,” she said.

Hamza and Olorunfemi took the audience on a journey of pictorial bliss with their hands-on presentations which touched on the steps to great photography, editing apps and using light to achieve photos that speak.

PR Manager TECNO Mobile Nigeria, Jesse Oguntimehin, expressed delight at the success of the master class, adding that it was set up not only to discuss the importance of smartphone camera, but also to also re-emphasise TECNO position on making life easier for the public and e-commerce merchants by continually providing them with the best smartphone camera features.

  • Tecno unveils full display smartphone

    Tecno unveils full display smartphone

TECNO, a premier mobile phone brand under Transsion Holdings, has released its first frameless full-screen display smartphone – TECNO CAMON CM. The device is the latest in the CAMON Series family and reemphasises the brand’s knack for designing high-end smartphones with sophisticated cameras.

While chronicling the brand’s growth and sheer market dominance, its Brand Manager Eric Liu, highlighted the company’s efforts to make revolutionary smartphones that will usher smartphone enthusiasts into an era of endless possibilities on the mobile devices and exceptional photography experiences. “The smartphone has been reinvented and OEMs globally are always on the lookout for the next big thing to talk about. At TECNO, we take pride in our ability to understand and meet our consumers’ needs, and eventually surpass their expectations.”

With the CAMON CM, TECNO has delivered a very stylish full-screen display smartphone. The fullview display device produces an immersive experience when consuming videos, reading books, capturing images or even surfing the Internet. The frameless device simplifies multi-tasking and offers users an opportunity to split their screen (18:9 screen support single window 1:1 split-screen operating with only one step ), so that they can handle more than one task while still being able to see more on either of the split windows.

Though it is a common belief that full-view display screens are more susceptible to damage. However, on the CAMON CM, that idea has been negotiated with a 2.5D corning third glass, which does not only ensure that users enjoy better visual effects from the screen but also safeguards it from cracks and delivers smoother touching.

“In accordance to consumers’ preferences, we are gradually becoming camera driven and this trend is evident in the camera-centric designs of our smartphones. Adopting our strategy of ‘think globally, act locally’, we are able to understand our consumers’ preferences and provide them with every support necessary to ensure that they canexpress themselves wholeheartedly” Eric added.

Speaking about the exclusive sales and partnership with TECNO Mobile, the Managing Director of 3C Hub Mr. Xia Song stated: “We are excited about our partnership with TECNO and the opportunity to launch the CAMON CM with them. As always, we always strive to deliver superior smartphone retail services to end-users thus, signing an exclusive partnership for the launch of the CAMON CM is a big deal for us.”

Selfies have just gotten a jig with the CAMON CM’s 13MP front camera module that delivers exceptional HDR portrait with night shot algorithm that lifts weak light, reduces noise in single frame and captures clearer night shots. • The sleep of death

Android technology and Smartphone’s have seen an impressive growth in recent years. The reason is not farfetched; Android is so easy to use, it’s special and intuitive, so there is no surprise that more and more people prefer it.

However, there are still issues when we expected the less. For example, there have been numerous reports of Android devices going to sleep and then not waking up regardless of how many times users press the power button.

This issue is known as the sleep of death and can be the result of various problems with the kernel, Android tweaks, an app, or even with the device’s radios. I’m however not discussing mobile technology today, but serious issues that bothers on the state of our nation, especially in the areas of citizens’ awareness and engagement.

The Federal Ministry of Finance under Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala – some years ago – started the practice of publishing details of allocations from the Federation Account to all the three tiers of government in Nigeria. This practice regularly furnishes Nigerians with information on the country’s finances and how it is allocated.

It was tactically supposed to serve as a springboard for Nigerians to start holding their elected leaders to account and question how public funds are spent. But sadly – and except in some rare cases – that never happened. Even civil society organisations missed the opportunity of picking up the gauntlet.

I’m however aware of an individual who took the pains to utilise this information to better the lot of his people. For years, this individual – a Christian – fed widows and orphans in his community. He was doing this until he stumbled on the allocation for his local government in the newspaper. He approached a contact in the finance department to furnish him with the local government monthly wage bill and other financial dealings for six months prior to the publication.

He was shocked to find out that after the payment of salaries, the local government does nothing else, not even the construction of a mere culvert! Challenged by this he decided to vie for the chairmanship of his local government.

He approached this writer to assist in drawing up a campaign blueprint; especially in the areas of youth and women empowerment and the construction of feeder roads to assist in the evacuation of farm produce. Together we approached two local construction firms who gave us separate bill estimates, including maintenance for three years. From the figures released and that presented by his contact, the local government has the capacity to construct such feeder roads.

Because he has proven beyond reasonable doubt that he has the interest of his people at heart; he threw his hat into the election ring. Going by his antecedents, we all believed he’d win the election until the opposition started a malicious rumour two week before election. They alleged that the candidate belong to a “blood sucking cult” which was why he has been engaged in feeding widows and orphans as a way of atoning for his sins!

Knowing the way such things play out in our communities, he subsequently lost the election on that “blood sucking” ground! Suffice it to say the rot in his local government – like in most local government areas – has continued to date.

The questions that often plague to my mind whenever I recollect that story is these: why are Nigerians not concerned about how public funds are spent? Why, for instance, would indigenes of a local government not question their chairman who has not carried out any infrastructure improvement despite collecting hundreds of millions of Naira? Some villages in Nigeria are totally cut off from civilization, so what does it take to have graders create a passage – not a road – for such villages? Why workers and pensioners are not paid is often beyond comprehension.

There were serious agitations from primary school teachers when the idea was mooted to transfer the payment of their salaries from the state to local government. They knew quite well they may not get paid for upward of one year. They’ve been there before that was why they chose not to sleep the sleep of death.

If we move over to the states and federal level there would be barrage of questions to ask. But unfortunately, most Nigerians are sleeping the sleep of death. Instead of applauding Okonjo-Iweala for her deft move in publishing what each tier of government receives, mischief makers back then often deflect public attention from interrogating issues by concentrating on ethnic or religious issues or question what she does with her own allocations.

But while we all sleep the sleep of death we should realise that there are about 13 million Nigerian children who will never attend primary school! Yes, you read right 13 million. For the record, that is perhaps the highest number of any country in the world today. Just imagine; that is more than the entire population of the Republic of Benin. Let’s just imagine that some may be lucky to attend primary schools, among these “lucky” ones, millions do not attend class regularly and the poorest don’t make it to secondary school. They terminate in between Basic 4 and 6.

As I reflect, I ask myself where would these 13 million children be in the next five years, or rather where are they now? It is on record that about 70% of those who manage to write WAEC/NECO each year fail. Again, where do those who fail go? About 1.6 million candidates write UTME every year, and only 450,000 places are available in the universities. Where do the rest go? These are real questions we ought to be asking because these children live amongst us.

But you know what? Why should we be “bothered” about a “mere” 13 million children when there are more “important” issues like who are those that would be contesting in the 2019 elections, which region or zones would they come from?

As I punch away on my laptop writing this, I consulted my crystal ball and I can see clearly into 10 years from now the foot soldiers of Boko Haram or the evil that may materialise in another name. I see the future thug, kidnapper, armed robber, ritualist etc. Look carefully around you, has this not started manifesting? For those of us opportune to live through saner periods of our existence, the wickedness and depravity that we see almost on a daily basis is beyond comprehension.

I vividly recollect how my late Dad took me to the park in Ibadan to board a vehicle to Igbajo, Osun State when I got admission into secondary school. I was there with my entire school itinerary – locker, mattress, portmanteau, bucket etc. Can I attempt that feat with my son in this age? Certainly not, I will have kidnappers and ritual killers on my mind.

How can we be comfortable that in the year 2017 there are still over 13 million children who will never see the four walls of a school? They will never learn to read and write. Over 13 million of them! If this does not tug at our conscience, nothing else will. What does I really take to ensure that majority of our children have at least basic education?

How did we get here in the first place? Our today is like this because of what we failed to do yesterday. But what are we doing today to prevent a more tragic tomorrow? We are already reaping the fruits of the wickedness in high places. The doomsday is no longer a prediction it is now a reality.

Population estimates have it that about 91 million Nigerians are under the age of 30. Are we aware that this is more than the combined populations of Ghana, Côte d’Ivoire, Republic of Niger and Burkina Faso?

I’d like to close out with this from the late Indian statesman, Mahatma Gandhi :”There are seven sins in the world: Wealth without work, Pleasure without conscience, Knowledge without character, Commerce without morality, Science without humanity, Worship without sacrifice and politics without principle.”

This great and timeless quote is a clincher any day. Except for “science without humanity” six of the sins are comfortably with us. How long shall we continue in our sleep of death?

SkrinAd: Nigerians to get paid for using smartphone

Users of smartphone across Nigeria can now make extra income with their internet-enabled phones by just viewing adverts.

SkrinAd, a Nigeria-developed mobile application is providing a platform for phone users to rent the screen of their mobile phone as advertising space for companies and organizations and get paid.

The Co-founder of the innovation, Jimmy Babatunde disclosed that the idea behind the application is to create another stream of income for phone users to cater for their everyday bills such as airtime, Cable TV subscription, electricity bill amongst others as well as make a transfer to their bank account(s).

“As Nigerians, we were concerned about the dedication of data and internet users to the monthly subscription of data plans without any direct benefit.

Every day, internet users come across various digital adverts which they watch but do not benefit from in any way. So, we looked at how to create a win-win platform for both the phone users and the advertisers in such a way that advertisers will have to pay the phone users for viewing adverts that naturally interest them.”

Jimmy disclosed that the App took into consideration the displeasure of phone users with unnecessary pop-up Ads and drainage of battery life, hence, SkrinAd has been created to only display when user’s phone is in an idle state and engineered in such a way that it operates in low power mode.

Users also have the liberty to choose which type of Advert they want to see, as SkrinAd is a targeted platform that seeks to eliminate waste in advertising as the client no longer need to pay for exposure that never occurred, he said.

SkrinAd was launched on July 1, 2017 and now available on Google Playstore while iTunes Store is coming soon.

  • Nokia 3310 from worst to best mobile phone

Nokia 3310 from worst to best mobile phone

The classic mobile phone name, Nokia 3310, has been brought back to life by Finnish start-up HMD Global.

The company is busy working on a number of new Android devices that will challenge the dominance of the iPhone, but in the meantime, it is keeping fans of the Nokia name satisfied by selling a reworked version of the 17-year-old design classic.

It is unfortunate that Nokia 3310 lovers should not expect anything modern or flashy because users can get data on this phone but only at 2.5G – a far cry from the speedy 4G that smartphones love to use.

Similarly, it is not a touchscreen phone as everything is controlled by a four-way direction pad – and don’t expect an on-screen keyboard, you’re back to typing out the letters by pressing the number 7 four times.

However, HMD Global has succeeded in maintaining the winning power of the 17-year-old classic mobile phone, its ability to maintain a long stand-by time and an indestructible body.

Interestingly, the reworked version of Nokia 3310 is able to keep up to a month of standby time and 22 hours of talk time before you have to recharge the phone.

The Nokia 3310 (L) and Nokia 6 are seen in an office in London, Britain February 24, 2017.

In addition, it has the classic Nokia ringtone and it plays Snake but a bit more modest with the newly installed colourful screen.

Running the Series 30+ operating system means it can run older Java based games and apps.

You also have Opera’s web browser, which strips out all the videos and flashy layout of the modern web to show you just the text. It is yet to stream YouTube.

There are times when you don’t want to be carrying an over N200,000 smartphone with you, the about N20,000 classic phone comes handy when traveling to a place you doubt the availability of Power Supply.

Please note that HMD Global didn’t rework the Nokia 3310 to replace your smartphone but to compliment it when it comes to long stand-by time as well as indestructible body build.
