  • Star releases new television commercial

    After the unveiling of Burna Boy as its brand ambassador, national premium beer brand, Star Lager has unveiled its new commercial which features the afro-pop artist. The commercial follows Burna through a photo shoot as he poses with the Star bottle and cans, and also features a very catchy hook which plays as a jingle all through the commercial.

    The Star brand has been known for iconic commercials all through its illustrious years in the Nigerian beer industry. These include the now infamous ‘Shine Shine Bobo’ radio ad which was brilliantly delivered by the late Theodore Austin Mukoro. Burna Boy seems to have drawn inspiration from this by infusing bits of the classic melody in his own rendition of the new Star jingle.

    Over the years, Star has been unrelenting in its efforts at encouraging Nigerians who are aspirational in their ambitions. The new theme “Celebrate the brighter side” is referenced in the new ad as Star continues with this brand messaging across various forms of media and touch points.

    Speaking on the release of the commercial, portfolio manager, national premium brands, Sarah Agha, expressed her delight at the commercial, saying ”Burna Boy is an amazing talent with a very likable personality, It is no surprise he has been so successful in the entertainment scene. It was interesting to have him star in our television commercial (tvc) as we prepare our consumers for what is to come in 2019. As you can see, his performance was full of joy and energy, and we look forward to unveiling bigger and brighter content with Burna Boy.”

    STAR was introduced into the Nigerian market on June 2, 1949, creating the first indigenously brewed beer in a market that was dominated exclusively by imported brands. Shortly after its entry into the market, STAR overcame the challenges associated with a new brand in a market already used to imported beer and started on a path of tremendous growth. This path has seen the brand rise to become one of the most renowned lagers in Nigeria.

  • Star Lager unveils ambassador

    National premium beer brand, Star Lager has revealed that Afro-pop sensation Burna Boy is now an ambassador for the brand. The unveiling was made on Sunday, January 27 during a press event at CIRCA, Lekki. Leading up to the announcement, a series of visual cues were syndicated across social media, generating massive mainstream media attention ahead of the official announcement.

    The announcement of Burna Boy as brand ambassador comes after a remarkable year for the music star in 2018, which featured various highlights such as headlining his own sold out concert, as well as being listed as one of only two African acts to perform at the prestigious Coachella Festival.

    Over the years Star Lager has been one of the leading brand supporters of Nigerian music, hence the decision to forge this association with Burna Boy further cementing the brand’s position as key players in the Nigerian entertainment scene. The brand’s effort in the music industry includes hosting one of the first music talent shows in Nigeria, Star Quest.

    Following up this landmark achievement, Star also put together some of the biggest music shows Nigeria has ever seen, through its Star Mega Jam and Star Music Trek platforms.

     

     

  • Star Lager kicks off Lagos fiesta

    Star Lager beer, a brand from Nigerian Breweries Plc, yesterday kicked off the 2018 edition of the annual ‘One Lagos Fiesta’ at five designated locations in the state.

    The eight day, non-stop celebration and star-studded fiesta was set to usher in the new year as consumers get to witness an amazing concert.

    As sponsors of the ‘One Lagos Fiesta,’ Star Lager will be celebrating the iconic Lagos heritage, just as the brand did in 2017 with the massive 70 feet tall Aro Meta Statue built out of over 3,000 star crates, with a LED screen base.

    The event will feature support from Star Lager in five locations – Agege stadium, Bar Beach, Epe, Ikorodu, Badagry and Victoria Island, culminating in a grand finale at Eko Atlantic City.

    The premium beer brand will provide refreshments for consumers as they partake in exciting games and experiences at the Star Corner.

    Speaking about Star’s support of the event, the Marketing Director, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Emmanuel Oriakhi, said: “Star Lager is committed to providing the best entertainment offering to consumers as we continue our support of One Lagos Fiesta.

    He said the company takes pride in this partnership and that its goal was to continually upgrade experiences for its consumers as it promises bigger and better experiences in the future.

    Star Lager in previous years, has been present and supportive of the annual year end felicitations, with Oriakhi expressing the brand’s commitment to extending the excitement.

  • Star Lager powers One Lagos fiesta

    Star Lager Beer said it plans to round off the year in conjunction with the Lagos government at One Lagos Fiesta, scheduled for December 24 to January 1.

    The government said artistes cutting across all genres would be performing at the fiesta with support from Star Lager.

    The eight day celebration will hold in five different designated locations in Lagos simultaneously and will feature not just artistes but dance groups and cultural performances.

    Speaking on why the brand chose be at the event, the Brand Manager, Star Lager Beer, Onyebuchi Nwangwu, said the brewer is consumer-focused, and a listening brand. “We know how passionate Nigerians are about festivities and that is why we’re supporting One Lagos Fiesta. We share in this excitement and we will be pulling all the stops to ensure our consumers have a great time all through the eight days,” he said.

     

  • Over 36,000 Consumers Win Star Lager Promo

    Star Lager Beer has rewarded over 36,000 consumers through its national consumer promo tagged Star ‘United We Shine Millionaires Promo’ which ran for 3 months and ended on Saturday, September 15, 2018.

    The Special limited edition bottles were issued by Nigerian Breweries for the promo. The bottles were capped with special crown corks bearing unique winning codes which consumers were able to redeem via a USSD dial of *566*20#. During the promo, consumers were rewarded with over 300 million Naira worth of prizes including instant airtime, cash prizes of various levels ranging up to N10 million plus millions of free drinks and other consolation prizes. Weekly winners were awarded at Star gala events in various cities and presented with their winnings by the brand representatives.

  • More millionaires emerge in Star Lager national promo

    Star Lager millionaires promo has produced 18 more millionaires in the Kaduna and Onitsha as more winners were presented with their prizes during gala ceremonies, which  held in Kaduna and Onitsha.

    John Paul Ocheme, 35, a student, who lives  in Kaduna; Zenith Abubakar, 44, a business woman based in Sokoto and Cornelius Ocholi, 41, a Police Officer were among the lucky ones, were among the winners. The new millionaires were full of gratitude  during a meeting during the presentations.

    In Kaduna, Ocheme  expressed his delight in winning N1 million. “I never expected to win, in fact, I usually do not have faith in promos, but Star Lager has really surprised me. I am going to use the money to further my education,” he said.

    Onitsha-based Ezeonyebuchi Kosiso shared similar sentiments as he described his N2million win as the “best thing that happened to me this year”.

  • Winner of Star Larger Promo shares fortune story

    A Lagos base technician Ajose Adepeju has emerged the latest winner of N1m in the Star United We Shine Millionaires Promo.

    The 31-year-old dish installer was presented a cheque at a public function in Lagos.

    “I usually enjoy my Star Lager when I drink with my colleagues. On that fateful day, I was at a bar with my friends where the bartender served our table. I had only heard of the promo by the bartender who told me not to throw my crown cork away few minutes before,” a delighted Adepeju was marvelled about his fortune and said.

    He continued, “My friend told me that I would win; I laughed and I said ‘Oluwa se’, then I checked my crown cork and you know the rest. I immediately called my wife who initially doubted the credibility until the Star people called me. When I got the call, I was so excited. Star really surprised me with this one. I don’t think it’s an overestimation to say I was in luck that day. I mean I had just heard of the promo but I didn’t think I would win that easily.

    “As you can see now, I’m even still in shock. You see these things on social media and on TV but you never think it’ll happen to you till it does. I’m really grateful to Star for this life changing experience.I already have plans for what I will do with the money and I can’t wait to take advantage of this cash prize and explore some investment opportunities.”

    To participate in the promo, consumers (only above 18 years) are expected to look under the crown cork of the Super Eagles special edition bottles of Star Lager, where they’ll see a 7-digit winning code which is redeemed via a USSD dial of *566*20#.

     The Promo runs from June 15th, 2018 to August 15th,  2018, and Millionaire winners will be awarded their prizes weekly.

  • Star Lager presents cheques to millionaire promo winners

    Star Lager said 44 winners have emerged from its ongoing Star Lager United We Shine Millionaires Promo. Over the weekend, a total of 44 winners were presented with their prizes of One Million Naira at the gala ceremony in Benin, Uyo, Jos and Lagos.

    This event follows the previous week’s presentation event in Enugu and Ibadan, where twenty people were awarded their prizes. This week’s lucky winners include Ajose Adepeju, a thirty year old satellite dish installer based in Lagos, Abdullahi Sulaiman Olabode a business man and Hakeem Fatai, a mechanic.

    The new winners, who couldn’t hide their happiness were elated all through the evening, while meeting with the Star Lager teams in Uyo Benin, Jos and Lagos during the presentation event.

    Premium Lager beer brand Star, has revealed ways which could make Nigerian consumers become star winners in its new consumer promotion tagged; ‘United We Shine Millionaires Promo’.

    The beer brand said the promo has been designed to reward its loyal consumers in the Nigeria market by making them millionaires.

    In a statement the brand hinted that eleven millionaires have emerged winners of One Million Naira each from the promotion and were presented with their cheques on Sunday, July 1st, 2018 at a Star Gala event held in Abuja.

  • Star Lager Celebrates World Cup Eagles, Fans

    Star Lager Beer continued its support for the Nigerian National team at the Super Eagles Dome in Lagos, as the squad faced Argentina in the make or mar final Group D game in Russia on Tuesday June 26th 2018.

    The Dome hosted thousands of passionate  fans in an atmosphere of exciting football, music and games as they cheered the team all night, hoping for a positive result. Even though the game ended in a victory for the Argentines who ended up joining Croatia from Group D in the Round of 16, viewers all over the world acknowledged the Nigerian team’s resilience, paying homage to their bravery and exciting style of play.
