Tantita: Celebrating victory against oil thieves, economic saboteurs

Nigeria’s oil production has gone up. It has hit a remarkable figure of two million barrels per day. Insider sources from the Tantita Security Services Limited said if all the repairs on leaking pipelines are carried out, the current production will reach an unimaginable figure of 2.5million barrel per day.

It was never imagined about five years ago that the country’s oil production could hit such figure. Prior to 2022, Nigerian oil production was in a big mess. It was infested by the virus of oil theft. Criminal elements devised various means to steal crude oil from pipelines, oil wells and other conveyor belts of crude oil.

To get the crude, they burst pipelines, tapped lines and oil wells. Various illegal oil businesses boomed. Economic saboteurs were having a field day enriching themselves overnight and allowing the odour of raw crude saturate the atmosphere. Illegal refining of crude by notoriously skilled local engineers was dominant. Illegal refineries proliferated as many community folks turned crude cooking of crude oil to personal, family and community business.

They cooked diesel, kerosene and fuel. It never mattered that most times their cooking factories exploded and roasted thousands of them alive. Such incidents permanently destroyed the environment and rendered many water bodies useless.  Many died but others living were not deterred. They continued growing the criminal empire of economic sabotage.

Atmosphere was dotted with billowing smokes wafting from such cooking centres which were mostly located inside thick forests. Different respiratory diseases engulfed creeks and urban centres as soots descended from the sky and settled in homes and nostrils staining shirts and floors. The activities of oil thieves made living in Niger Delta life threatening.

Prior to 2022, the economy that depends heavily on oil continued to haemorrhage. Nigeria lost significant revenue and resorted to borrowing massively for survival.

But all that has changed, thanks to the Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) founded by High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly called Tompolo. Recently, stakeholders gathered in Warri, Delta State to reflect on how Tantita came, saw and continued to conquer the menace of oil theft in the Niger Delta.  It was an end of year party and award night organized by the management of Tantita.

The Managing Director, TSSNL, Chief Kestin Pondi, described the period before 2022 as a dark time for the oil industry. He recalled that oil production vices were high measuring about 36.69million barrels with daily production output hovering within 800,000 to 900,000 barrels per day.

After the engagement of Tantita, the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) reported that crude oil production vices reduced to 7.68 million barrels, 79 per cent decrease.

Reducing such crime rate within two years of operation in a complex and life threatening environment is not a tea party. Pondi said sacrifices were made. High level operational strategies were formulated and diligently prosecuted. Lives of Tantita workers, security personnel and informants were lost. Consistent patrols, negotiations and stakeholders’ engagements were carried out.

To buttress the level of operations deployed to ward off oil thieves and stabilize the economy, Pondi said from 2022 to November 2024, Tantita warriors in their unparallel commitment and resilience to fight oil theft discovered 3,963 incidents of crude oil theft. Out of the number 702 were illegal connections, 971 were cases of theft, 1,784 were illegal refinery cases and 204 cases of diversion.

The efforts to clean the augen stable led to massive results. Reeling out the facts, Pondi said the Tantita team apprehended eight vessels, three tugboats, six barges, 117 vehicles, 52 tankers, 47 fiber speedboats, tricycles and motorcycles as well as 1,743 wooden boats used by economic saboteurs to steal crude and other petroleum products.

The Managing Director said: “While it could be exhaustive to highlight every detail of our activities to curtail oil theft, a whole lot of other discoveries had been made by our team that has subsumed the scourge of oil theft.

“Our success is rooted in the collaboration and the support we have received from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration whose commitment and partnership has strengthened our resolve and defined our impact.

“The battle is not just about protecting the nations oil and gas it is a mission to secure the future of Nigeria. At Tantita we have embraced the responsibility with unwavering resolve and I am proud to say we are making significant progress”.

Pondi did not forget all the partners and collaborators that had contributed to the success story of Tantita. Security agencies such as the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Navy, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the police  and the Department of State Security (DSS) are working closely with Tantita to drive oil thieves and saboteurs out of the creeks.

There are also informants, who help in exposing the nefarious activities of oil thieves. Some of the informants and security personnel paid the ultimate prize. Therefore, Pondi called for a minute of silence for such individuals, who were so patriotic that they surrendered their lives for the progress of the country’s economy.

Pondi did not fail to recognize Mele Kyari and his board of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited, who despite all pressures took the bold step to set up the security architecture. He further poured encomium on the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led Federal Government for all its support and determination to end all forms of economic sabotage.

He said: “While we count our success story, we will not forget those, who paid the ultimate prize; the once whose blood our success rests on especially the personnel of the Nigerian Army, civil defence, key informants and employees of Tantita had died in the course of ensuring that our nation has a booming economy. We mourn and celebrate their sacrifices”.

Pondi harped on the resilience of the Tantita team. He described members of the team as a collection of individuals, whose collective contributions define the successes in the field, operational room and support services.

“Every member of the Tantita Security plays an indispensable role in achieving our mission. Your courage, diligence and determination inspire us all. Tonight we celebrate you”, he said.

Yes. Pondi was right. The strength of Tantita has depended hugely on its collaboration with security agencies such as the Nigerian Navy, the Army, the Air Force, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the Department of State Security (DSS).  They provide the required security cover for Tantita foot soldiers to battle the menace.

Some stakeholders applauded the roles of the NSCDC in Tantita’s operations. They observed that the Commandant-General of NSCDC, Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi through his Deputy Commandant-General, Philip Ayuba, has been at the forefront of security the required success for Tantita. In fact, Dr. Audi was highly represented at the event by Philip Ayuba.

These agencies share same operational strategies, vision and objectives with Tantita, resisting all forms of compromise and inducements by moneybag oil thieves. Like a family united by purpose, they work harmoniously with Tantita to get rid of the demons in the oil sector. Most of them along with Tantita fighters have also paid the supreme prize.

While Pondi spoke, many stakeholders in the hall discussed the leadership, managerial capacity and personal qualities he (Pondi) had deployed to make Tantita succeed in its mission to eradicate all forms of economic sabotage.

They observed that under Pondi, Tantita has gone beyond a mere security outfit to become the emerging way of life in the Niger Delta. Pondi fosters communal living allowing resources of Tantita to trickle down to all the nooks and crannies of the Niger Delta. His generosity ensures inclusivity of all stakeholders, who now share in the vision of Tantita.

Pondi’s managerial style has given most people in the Niger Delta a sense of belonging. Tantita touches lives; solves common daily problems; gives to the needy, the elderly, students, women, youths and engage idle minds in meaningful ventures.

Therefore, most persons hitherto involved in oil theft were said to have willingly and voluntarily surrendered and embraced Tantita’s vision. Just recently, Pondi intervened and gave N30million to a young lawyer in the region, Etifa Jonathan, who was seeking such money for kidney transplant required to save his life.

They also observed that Pondi’s leadership and generous qualities have kept the workforce of Tantita permanently happy. An elderly man in the hall said the managing director builds houses for the workers; buys them vehicles including their wives and ensures their wives were established in businesses. He has established high level of staff welfare and motivation. The employees reciprocate by diligently executing their tasks and avoiding every form of sabotage and betrayal.

In fact, the event was designed to motivate the staff of Tantita and its partners. Outstanding employees were recognised and sub-contractors were given excellence awards. The employees collectively gave Kestin Pondi and award as an outstanding managing director.

No wonder, Pondi said to them: “As we honour excellence through this award, let it serve as a reminder of what we can achieve when we work together with unity of purpose. It is a testament to the power of team work and shared vision.

“While we celebrate tonight, let’s also look forward with renewed determination. The journey ahead requires better efforts and together with the support of the government there is no challenge we can’t overcome”.

Therefore, beyond the deployment of kinetic force, Tantita through Kestin Pondi has deployed its resources and  initiated humanitarian measures to reach all stakeholders and give them a sense of belonging.

In fact, apart from growing the economy, the efforts of Tantita in collaboration with other security agencies have gradually restored the environment of the Niger Delta. The environment is gradually recovering from years of damage caused by illegal refinery operations, pipeline vandalism and illegal oil bunkering.

The water bodies, which hitherto suffered massive pollution and were in disuse are wearing a new look following the reduction in the activities of oil thieves in the region. With the restoration of water bodies and the entire environment, people in the region are returning to their traditional occupations of farming and fishing.

A former President of the Ijaw Youths Council (IYC), Udengs Eradiri, who graced the occasion.commemded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for believing in Tompolo’s Tantita noting that with its performance the security outfit has made the President proud. He said having delivered on its mandate, Tantita should be considered for additional responsibilities.

Eradiri said: “The success of Tantita is not something surprising to people like us. I will use this opportunity to firstly thank the President for giving Tantita the opportunity to express itself.

“The benefits Tantita has given to the country is because the Federal Government listened to the cries of the people and decided to engage the Niger Delta people. Tantita has proven that they can do this job. This is a job that many people cannot do and a lot of forces because of interest cannot do.

“Tantita has been able to without fear or favour created an economy and security in the Niger Delta and ultimately given money to the Nigerian state. Tantita has brought together young people of the Niger Delta from different facets of the region, Ondo, Edo, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and other parts of the Niger Delta.

“Tantita has rallied round people in the academia, creeks, community and youths. That is why you see the successes the country had recorded. This company deserves a lot of support from the Federal Government. We call on the government to give Tantita more responsibilities.

Echoing similar sentiments, the Guest Lecturer, Prof. Christopher Nyong, recalled how High Chief Tompolo became the lone voice in the wilderness and how evil oil cabal tried to exterminate him. The lecturer said Tompolo later became the Messiah that came to rescue the oil sector.

Nyong, who is the Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, remembered that the economy was at the verge of implosion before Tompolo’s Tantita came to the rescue.

“The economy was almost imploding and there was no sign of help from anybody. In the appointed time the lone voice came to rescue Nigeria from the oil cabal”, he said.

He lamented that despite the vast riches, oil theft and mismanagement emasculated the country’s economy. He said $2.1bn worth of oil was stolen in 2019 and $22.4bn in 2022 before Tantita came into the picture.

What has Tantita done differently? He queried. The professor said the success of Tantita depended largely on its operational modalities leveraging on community efforts. Besides, he said Tantita has become a tool to fight unemployment in the region adding that the security outfits currently employs 18,000 youths. He said Tantita also created jobs through its engagement of many sub-contractors.

The end of year party and award night became an opportunity for workers and stakeholders to unwind and dine. Many comedians within and outside the state entertained the guests. Top musicians like Kecee Limpopo thrilled the audience. The presence of a popular Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke and a well-known billionaire socialite and  philanthropist, E-Money  among others spiced the occasion.

A tall cake of success and victory was cut by dignitaries to mark the occasion. At the end, it became obvious that the country’s economy rests on the shoulders of Tompolo’s Tantita and to take the peace in the Niger Delta and the progress in the economy to the next level, the Federal Government and all stakeholders must ignore all forms of blackmails, biles and negative jealousy against Tantita and keep supporting the security outfit to record more breakthroughs.

Oil Theft: Tantita attributes success to collaboration, support by Tinubu’s administration

Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) has attributed its successes in combating crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism to the collaboration and support received from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.

The company’s commitment and partnership have strengthened its resolve and amplified its impact.

Tantita, a private firm operated by former freedom fighter High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, was contracted by the federal government to protect critical national assets in the Niger Delta. The firm has achieved significant milestones in its mandate areas.

Speaking at the firm’s 2024 Award Night in Warri, Delta State, the Managing Director of TSSNL, High Chief (Engr.) Kestin Ebimorbowei Pondi disclosed that

He also remembered those who lost their lives in the course of the war against crude oil theft, positing that the rapid increase in crude oil production showed that their deaths were not in vain and that they would continue to be remembered for paying the supreme sacrifice in the interest of the nation.

“We (Tantita) won’t be where we are today if not for the unparalleled support and encouragement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, all arms of the security agencies and our various communities in the Niger Delta. We are eternally grateful to Mr. President, the NSA, security agencies, and our communities.

“We must also recognise the roles played by our fallen heroes, I mean our workers and other stakeholders who lost their lives in the course of the struggle to eliminate crude oil theft in the nooks and crannies of the Niger Delta. They would not die in vain and indeed, the steady increase in crude oil production has shown that they didn’t die in vain,” Pondi stated.

He emphasized that the event was not merely to celebrate achievements, but to reflect on the past journey, stating thus: “This battle is not just about protecting the nation’s oil and gas infrastructures, it is a mission to secure the economic future of Nigeria. At Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, we have embraced this responsibility with unwavering resolve, and I am proud to say we are making significant strides in this fight.

“Before the advent of the Industry-wide Security architecture called Operation Plug as established by the Board of NNPC E&P, under the distinguished leadership of Mele Kolo Kiari in 2022, crude oil losses measured 36.69 million barrels, with a daily production output of about 800,000–900,000 bpd. It was a dark time for the industry and the country at large.

“In less than two years, of the engagement of Tantita, the results were astounding as the report from NEITI (Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative) and NUPRC (Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission) for the year 2023 (January to December 2023) shows very significant reduction of oil losses from 36.69 million barrels in 2022 to 7.68 million barrels, reflecting a whopping 79% decrease compared to the previous year”.

Speaking on the discoveries made, the Tantita MD said, “in the span of Tantita’s operations within these years (August 2022 – November 2024) the contribution of Tantita’s workforce, who have shown unparalleled commitment in the fight against crude oil theft discovered a total of 3,963 incidents captured on IMRA.

“It is also worth noting that within this same period of intense work, Tantita Team apprehended 8 vessels, (3) Tugboats and 6 Barges, 117 Vehicles, 52 Tanker Trucks, 47 Fibre/Speed boats, 7 tricycles/motorcycles, and 1,743 wooden boats involved in illegal operations.

“While it will be exhausting to highlight every detail of our journey to curtail the scourge of oil theft, a whole lot of other discoveries have been made by our team that has subsumed the scourge of oil theft as either a crime of need or that of greed”.

Commending the entire Tantita team for being team players, Pondi charged them on the task ahead which “will require even greater effort, but together, with the support of the government and the strength of our united team, there is no challenge we cannot overcome”.

Jubilation in Ijaw as Tantita’s MD pays N30m for lawyer’s kidney transplant

There was widespread jubilation in the Niger Delta, particularly among the Ijaw people, over the weekend following the decision of Chief Kestin Pondi, Managing Director of Tantita Security Services, to donate N30 million for the kidney transplant of a young Ijaw lawyer, Etifa Jonathan.

Jonathan, who has been battling kidney failure, had appealed for financial assistance, seeking N30 million from government officials, philanthropists, and wealthy individuals in the Niger Delta, including the Minister of State for Petroleum, Heineken Lokpobiri, to fund a life-saving medical trip.

Shortly after Jonathan’s efforts to raise the money, news broke that Pondi, who heads Tantita Security Services, a company owned by former Niger Delta militant leader Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo, had provided the entire amount.

The generous gesture was confirmed by Apostle Bodmas Kemepadei, a priest of the Ijaw religious group Egbesu.

He said: “In a remarkable display of compassion and generosity, Chief Kestin Pondi, the Managing Director of Tantita Security Services Limited, has fully financed the estimated N30m required for the kidney transplant of Barrister Jonathan Etifa.

“The funds, aimed at covering the cost of the life-saving procedure, were paid in full to ensure a seamless and timely operation for the ailing barrister, who had been battling kidney-related health challenges”.

Many ijaw stakeholders have been pouring encomiums on Pondi for his unique gesture describing it as philanthropic.

A former Chairman of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Central Zone, Kennedy Olorogun, referred to Pondi as a gift to mankind saying his generosity was incomparable.

Olorogun said Pondi and Tantita by such gesture demonstrated brotherliness, love, friendship and the whole essence of humanity.

He prayed God to keep blessing Pondi with good health and more wealth to keep doing good for humanity.

Society can only grow better if our support to those in need is not predicated on our political considerations or personal interest alone.

A former Spokesperson of IYC, Ebikade Ekerefe described Pondi’s intervention as unbelievable and  called on others to emulate him.

Je said: “I join other well meaning Ijaw sons and daughters to reference Kestin Pondi, the MD of Tantita Security Services for coming to the financial aid of Barr. Etifa Jonthan, an illustrious Ijaw son from Ndoro community swiftly.

“This is unbelievable and worthy of commendations. And to all those who must have played roles behind the scene for this to happen, you’ve done well and we appreciate you. NBA commends Tantita, NNPC in fight against oil theft

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), led by President Afam Osigwe, SAN, has commended Tantita Security Services and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) for their ongoing efforts to combat oil theft and increase oil production in Nigeria’s Niger Delta region.

During a recent visit to the Niger Delta, Osigwe and members of the NBA’s National Executive Council (NEC) engaged with key stakeholders, including Tantita’s chairman, Government Tompolo, while visiting Gbaramatu Kingdom. This tour aimed to assess firsthand the challenges posed by oil theft and the impact on local communities.

Tompolo reported that his security personnel faced attacks while apprehending oil thieves in the Port Harcourt creeks.

He urged the NBA to support their efforts, emphasizing the economic crisis facing the country.

“If we are not careful, we will not have resources to undertake meaningful projects. We need your help in the legal aspect of these arrests,” he said.

Osigwe praised Tantita for its commitment to protecting oil infrastructure and increasing production from 1.8 million barrels per day to 2 million barrels per day.

He called for enhanced collaboration between private security firms and government agencies in the fight against oil theft.

However, Tompolo highlighted ongoing challenges, particularly with the Nigerian Navy, which he claimed has refused to share intelligence or collaborate effectively with Tantita.

He expressed concern over threats to his life due to his company’s efforts to eradicate oil theft, stating, “Many key players in the oil industry want me dead for my commitment to this cause.”

Osigwe acknowledged the importance of addressing oil theft, stating, “If oil production increases, it benefits all of us, enabling the government to meet the needs of the people. We must protect our commonwealth from those who seek to exploit it.”

The NBA’s visit also aimed to understand the hardships faced by oil-producing communities, with Osigwe noting that these areas often bear the brunt of environmental degradation without reaping the economic benefits of oil wealth.

He emphasised the need for infrastructural support from the federal government, echoing the sentiments of the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Oboro-Gbaraun II, who called for the establishment of a Magistrate Court in the region.

“The government must come closer to us and fulfill its obligations,” the monarch stated. “Gbaramatu stands for peace and will continue to advocate for harmony in the Niger Delta.”

The NBA’s engagement in the Niger Delta underscores the association’s commitment to addressing critical issues related to oil theft, community welfare, and environmental protection in Nigeria.

How we are deploying technologies to combat oil theft – Tantita

A private firm, Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), says it has developed technologies to fight against crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta.

Tantita is operated by High Chief (Dr.) Government Ekpemupolo a.k.a Tompolo.

Speaking at the maiden Pan-Ijaw Economic Summit 2024, in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, TSSNL’s Executive Director, Operation and Technical, Captain Warredi  Enisuoh, said with the deployment of drones and satellite images, the company is able to know when the oil infrastructures are tampered.

Enisuoh, while x- raying the topic, ‘ Environmental Regeneration and Economic Sustainability,’ noted that the company had been deliberate in the fight against oil theft since its existence, adding that the result was a boost in Nigeria’s oil production.

He explained that rather than engage in illegal oil bunkering which eventually destroys the environment and their sources of living, communities can take advantage of the rich mangrove forest of the region.

He stated: “If they (communities) do not pollute the environment any further, these trees can thrive and we will be able to take stock of these trees and able to generate income for the companies that scream carbon. These companies are around the world.”

“Many of them are willing to partner with the region like this in exchange for green in development, to participate in industrial development that is not going to create further carbon emissions, create  more global warming and also, able to improve the health and well-being of the inhabitants of the region alongside with the development they are going to face.”

Road users, residents rejoice as Tantita fixes bad roads in Delta

Road users and residents of Bendel Estate, an exclusive area of Effurun metropolis in Delta state, are excited about the ongoing road repair works being carried out by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL), a private firm owned by Chief Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo.

The decision to repair the roads was made at a board meeting held in May, in response to the poor state of some key roads in the commercial city.

A construction company was hired to undertake the repairs.

Efforts to obtain official comments from the company regarding this initiative were unsuccessful, but a company source has confirmed the development.

According to the source, the intervention was aimed at complementing Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s developmental strides in the state.

It would be noted that some roads in Bendel Estate had been in terrible conditions over the years. In particular, there was a big ditch beside the NNPC Junior Staff Club, a popular relaxation spot in the city.

But a visit to the area on Wednesday showed that the plight of road users and commuters has come to an end.

From the estate junction at Avweniyare Filling Station down to the terminal point other adjoining roads have been fixed.

A Keke NAPEP operator in Bendel Estate, Mr. Ezekiel Akpofure, who spoke on the ease of doing business now, said: “We are happy that Tompolo has come to our aid. We have been suffering over the years, spending all our earnings on the repair of our Keke. Our appeals to a former Chairman of Uvwie LGA, Mr. Ramson Onoyake, when he was in office, fell on deaf ears, but Tompolo has come to rescue us.

“We now operate on smooth and well-tarred roads in Bendel Estate. We can now save some that we used to expend regularly on the repair of our Keke. We are happy and grateful to Chief Tompolo”.

Another excited Keke NAPEP operator in the Estate, Seidu Abdullahi, who hails from Kano state, said: “Initially we thought the roads were being repaired by the government because we didn’t see anything to suggest that a private individual or company could be responsible. We only got to know that Chief Tompolo asked his company to do this (repair of roads) for us in Bendel Estate, after so many enquiries.”

“We are so much grateful to him for this rare show of humanity. I have been operating my Keke in Bendel Estate for 5 years, this is the first time I am finding it easy to operate because I now drive on smooth roads. We are poor people, we don’t have anything to offer Chief Tompolo, other than to pray for him and his team that God continues to grant them robust health and abundant prosperity”.

A resident of the area, simply identified as Bakumor, urged others to emulate Tompolo.

One Chief Julius Ogie stated: “We have been suffering and begging for help on the Bendel Estate roads for years to no avail, but God has finally heard and answered our prayers through Tompolo. If all wealthy citizens behave the way Tompolo does by being public-spirited and philanthropic, Nigeria would have been a better place. They should emulate him. We

“We are indeed very grateful to Tompolo. We learnt that it’s not easy to see him otherwise we would have raised a delegation to meet with him. But since we cannot see him, we pray God to continue to preserve him in good health and grant him long life to enable him to continue to serve humanity”.

The managing director of TSSNL, Chief Keston Pondi, ignored persistent calls and text messages seeking confirmation.

The source who confirmed that Tantita funded the rehabilitation works disclosed thus: “I can tell you that Tantita is responsible for the repair of the roads in Bendel Estate but you know that the Chairman (Tompolo) the Vice Chairman, Engineer Mathew Tonlagha and MD, Chief Keston Pondi, do not like a public show of philanthropic gestures.”

The source said: “Whenever these kind-hearted and God-sent personalities are used by God to help humanity in any form, they don’t like to advertise or go to the public to announce what they have done.”

“They keep their intervention in the lives of the people from the public domain because they believe that God gave them the resources to help humanity and they are answerable to Him. They are not the typical wealthy Nigerians who engage in public shows after offering help to the people. If you like, continue to send messages and call, they won’t respond because they are not ready to discuss this intervention in the media.”

“It’s our conviction in Tantita that all oil majors and indigenous oil firms should continue to  contribute and champion improved economic empowerment and practical interventions to improve the livelihood of our people in the Niger Delta.”

“We are determined to continue to promote socio-economic and Infrastructural development in the communities where we operate and we are poised to do more in building strong collaboration with local stakeholders and contribute to the overall economic prosperity of our dear country, Nigeria,” the source, who craved anonymity, added.

Former Bayelsa Governor Senator Seriake Dickson has described the engagement of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited TSSNL by the Federal Government as “good” deed.

He spoke when he visited Oporoza, Headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Delta State, adding that there was need to expand the firm’s coverage area to enable it do more for the country.

Dickson, who represents the Bayelsa West at the National Assembly, also commended the traditional ruler of the kingdom, His Majesty Oboro-Gbaraun Ii, Aketekpe, Agadagba and his subjects “for embracing government initiatives by maintaining order, peace and stability in the Niger Delta region”.

He applauded High Chief Government Ekpemupolo a.k.a Tompolo, founder of Tantita “for his uncommon patriotism in the fight against crude oil theft as well as curbing environmental degradation in the region, thus restoring aquatic lives to the Niger Delta waters”.

Accompanied by several political associates and supporters from Bayelsa state, the ex-Governor said he was on a courtesy visit to Gbaramatu Kingdom to formally express solidarity with the people, describing them as his kinsmen.

Noting that Gbaramatu Kingdom is “a very strategic part of Ijaw nation, Niger Delta and Nigeria”, Dickson appreciated the people and Tantita for the contributions being made in stopping vandalism to strategic national assets within the territory and also for reducing illegal bunkering and environmental degradation occasioned by the illegal refineries and those operating it.

He said: “The good thing that the Federal Government and the NNPC and all the agencies have done is by engaging a man who understands the physical terrain and also the operating environment.  All the systems he knows them.  And that’s why he and his people have been able to bring some semblance of normalcy.

“A lot still has to be done so, I want to encourage him now that I am here. I have seen development myself. I want to encourage him to do more.

“I thank the President, the Petroleum Ministry and the NNPC and all of them for working with him. I think that that partnership needs to be strengthened and sustained and expanded so that Tantita can do more.

“Stopping pilfering and crude oil vandalism is one thing.  But we are also bothered about environmental degradation of our region.  This is our area. This is where we live.  And for the Ijaw man, these rivers you see is our life because our lives depend on our waters.  Hence, polluting our waterways, our rivers and our creeks is a major existential threat to our people.

“And so, we thank Tompolo and his colleagues in Tantita and encourage the security agencies to collaborate more with them and NNPC to strengthen that partnership and extend it so that they can do more for our people”.

Responding, the traditional ruler of Gbaramatu kingdom, His Majesty Oboro-Gbaraun II, Aketekpe, Agadagba expressed gratitude to the former Governor of Bayelsa State for the visit, imploring him to be closer to the Kingdom being an Ijaw leader himself.

…urges Tinubu to expand Coy’s surveillance job

The Ovie of Idjerhe Kingdom in Delta state, His Majesty, King Monday Obukohwo Whiskey Udurhie I, has said that the activities of Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL) in combating crude oil theft and pipeline vandalism are restoring aquatic life and reducing piracy in its operational areas.

The traditional ruler urged President Bola Tinubu to expand the company’s surveillance contract in the region, emphasizing that it would not only support the gradual restoration of the natural habitat but also help Nigeria meet the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) quota.

Udurhie I made these remarks on Monday during a media parley at his palace in Otorho-Idjerhe (Jesse Town) in Ethiope West Local Government Area.

He praised President Tinubu for renewing Tantita’s contract and highlighted that there has been no record of oil theft or pipeline vandalism in areas covered by TSSNL.

He also commended the company’s owner, Chief Government Ekpemupolo, a.k.a. Tompolo, for significantly reducing crude oil theft in the region.

He said: “From every available fact, Tantita Security Services has not only shown that they have the capacity, but they have also demonstrated beyond every reasonable doubt that they are committed to helping to grow our oil and gas production. If we must move forward, there’s a serious need for more Federal Government encouragement.

“I commend President Bola Tinubu for the renewal of the contract for Tantita. I am advocating and pleading with Mr. President to expand the scope of the contract to cover more grounds where oil theft is still being recorded.

“It’s not only Tantita, a contract of this nature was given to. The job was also awarded to a lot of other contractors, but it’s only in the area where Tantita is working that we are seeing this huge improvement in crude oil production.

“Improvement as far as our environment is concerned. For more than one year now, we have started seeing even clean water in our creeks and rivers due to the stoppage of crude oil theft.

“Government should look at the possibility of expanding the scope of that job so that by so doing we can have an increasing level of cleaner environment because the environment within area of Tantita operation is regenerating,” the monarch asserted.

The Idjerhe monarch further rallied support for the Tinubu-led Federal Government, urging Nigerians to give it time to stabilize the nation’s economy.

“Every leader needs support. I want to appeal to Nigerians to look at supporting this government. It’s just a year old. Let’s look inward and see how we can move our country forward.”
