  • TECNO unveils SPARK 3 smartphone

    TECNO Mobile has launched a new smartphone series named SPARK 3.

    The new phone which is the third in the SPARK series comes with impressive upgrades in terms of both hardware and software.

    It has better pictures, bright and clear selfies as it comes upgraded with AI Technology to light up your smartphone experience.

    The launch which held recently at Sheraton Hotel, Lagos, gathered stakeholders, government representatives, Dealer, Celebrities, media amongst others.

    In his welcome remarks, Brand Manager TECNO Mobile, Luke Pan said that he was proud to announce the release of TECNO SPARK 3 series which is equipped with the latest AI Technology.

  • Tecno marks International Women’s Day with students

    Tecno Mobile has celebrated the International Women’s day with a special programme for young girls aimed at improving the quality of life of the girl-child.

    The programme was held in conjunction with The University of Lagos Radio Station, Unilag 103.1 FM, and the Mass Communication Department, at the Afe Babalola Hall of the university.

    Head of Unilag FM Dr Abiodun Ogidan, in his welcome address, thanked the guests for making time out to celebrate the day.

    Head of Employee Relations at TECNO Mobile Temitope Akinniyi thanked the organisers for putting together the event. She highlighted how the smartphone giant supports women.

    She said: “As Africa’s biggest smartphone manufacturer, we recognise women across the globe and acknowledge the struggles they face in balancing work and personal life. We do whatever we can to ease these struggles by ensuring that we provide a working environment free of discrimination against women.

    “An environment that empowers our women to work smart and come up with innovations that spark a positive change in our world, while laying the foundation for the younger generation of women. Our products also focus on the 21st century woman, giving her soft and hard tools to balance career, personal life and capture beautiful experiences while doing both.”

    Invited schools were allowed to contribute their thoughts to the celebration through drama, poetry, essays, choreography and painting to highlight the theme “Think Equal, Build Smart, Innovate for Change”.

    Guests at the event included representative of the United Nations (UN) Adefunmilayo Tejuosho, guest lecturer Prof. Abigael Ogwezzy-Ndisika, President, University of Lagos Women Society Mrs. Oluwaseun Ogundipe and Jesse Oguntimehin, PR and Strategic Partnership Manager of TECNO Mobile.

  • Tecno launches  camera and A.I technology

    To sustain an amazing user experience, TECNO Mobile collaborated with professionals such as  Abdusalam Hamza and Obasa Olorunfemi  to present a smartphone  photography master class during the just-concluded Lagos Photo Festival.

    The Lagos Photo Festival was the first international art festival of  photography  in Nigeria. Launched in October 2010, it was organised by the African Artists’ Foundation (AAF) as part of an ongoing project designed to use art in public spaces as a medium for increasing societal awareness. The festival includes workshops and classes for professional artists, art fairs and indoor and outdoor exhibitions citywide. Held annually, the festival features emerging photographers alongside established photographers.

    In a presentation on ‘Street Photography’, Hamza took participants through the rudiments of Street Photography covering a range of subjects such as understanding the camera and the components of street photography. He also urged everyone to start with what they have- their phone, all that is needed is to create the concept behind the picture in the mind first. He showcased a cross-section of his exhibitions taken with various TECNO devices.

  • Tecno holds exhibition

    It was a very busy afternoon  in Lagos on Tuesday when TECNO Mobile sponsored Bimmerfest,  held its 3rd edition, featuring super cars, power bikes and exhibitions. As with past editions, TECNO Mobile, led by the lively mascot Tboy and its beautifully dressed cheerleaders, gave guests the opportunity to experience its various smartphone categories.

    With the total takeover of Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos, venue of the event,  there was a parade of classic and modern BMW cars and bikes with riders, who displayed jaw-dropping and hair-splitting stunts to the admiration of the audience.

    Organised by the BMW Club Nigeria, BimmerFest Nigeria is poised to be the biggest drag race event in the whole of Africa. This year’s edition had a twist to it as other brands of automobiles such as Dodge Challengers, Chevrolet Cameros, Range Rover Sports, Maserati Quattroporte, Ferrari 488, Audis and Mercedes Benz were allowed to participate.

    Also showcased at the event were several BMW car series such as BMW 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 series and the Apina B7, which featured to thrill the crowd.

    With the success of Bimmerfest 2018 and the powerful partnership between TECNO and the “BMW Club’, there is definitely a lot to look forward to at the next edition. One of them may be TBOY racing a TECNO branded BMW with a customised dashboard, replicating the awesome screen of TECNO smartphones.

    It was indeed, an amazing day for not just automobile enthusiasts, but smartphone lovers, as they surely had more than they bargained for with TECNO Mobile giving them amazing smartphone technology goodness and BMW showcasing its brilliant automobile technologies.

  • Tecno: finance inhibiting youth entrepreneurship

    Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), Tecno Mobile, has lamented access to fund for youths to make their dreams come true.

    It said the country is blessed with youths with very brilliant ideas which could lead to big businesses but are constrained by lack of access to finance.

    Its Public Relations and Strategic Partnership Manager, Mr. Jesse Oguntimehin who spoke at the grand finale of Tecno Mobile’s 2018 Light Up Your Dream campaign held at the firm’s Ikeja office, yesterday, said the firm would continue to empower youths so that they could realise their dreams as part of the firm’s policy of giving back to the society.

    He said: “Nigeria is filled with a lot of talented people that do not have the opportunity to bring that dream to the fore due to several reasons which of course includes finance. So, we are doing our bit by providing the finance to make things easier for them and we are very glad to get these young dreamers closer to their dream.”

  • Tecno partners MTN on mPulse

    TECNO mobile has partnered MTN to launch mPulse, a unique initiative to channel the work ethic of teenagers and create a subconscious template of optimal productivity which would be beneficial to themselves and their environment.

    The specially-designed platform is for youngsters from nine to 15, to enable them learn and gain pragmatic skills while also having fun.

    The unveiling, which held at the Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, was lit up with attractions that included a Virtual Reality Master Class facilitated by Obaloluwa Odelana, a 13-year-old JSS3 pupil, and the youngest African hyper-realism artist, Kareem Waris Olamilekan of Waspa Art, who inspired children at the event through their craft which had recently gained massive recognition through social media.

    As proud partners of the event, Tecno’s recently released Spark 2 was showcased as the kids trooped to the Tecno experiential booth to have a first-hand feel of the device which comprises features such as a 6.0 HD+ screen, 13MP rear camera, 3500mAh battery and so much more.

    The mPulse package comes with a voice plan and a fun, educative website which hosts various courses and study aids to help children from Primary one to SS3 excel.

    The portal also provides a bouquet of single and multiplayer games, as well as life skill videos, from computer programming, fashion designing, medicine and blogging to engineering, writing, data science and motivational speaking.

    Speaking at the grand finale of its campaign tagged: Tecno Mobile’s 2018 Light Up Your Dream, at its Ikeja, Lagos head office, its PR and Strategic Partnership Manager, Mr. Jesse Oguntimehi, said as a caring brand, the firm would continue to explore ways of giving back to the society.

The contestants who were between the third and 10th bracket went home with brand new Tecno Spark 2 smartphones, while those between 11 and  20 position went home with brand new rechargeable fans.

    One of the winners, Okoh, a ginger agropreneur from Kaduna State, expressed gratitude to God and Tecno. With tears of joy trickling down his eyes, he said: “Standing here and holding this cheque is a dream on its own. I cannot believe this. I will invest this money in my business to grow it.”

  • Tecno, Genesis Cinema screen Avengers: Infinity War

    To provide its teeming customers and fans with experiences that will leave lasting impressions, Tecno mobile, strategically partnered the Genesis Deluxe Cinemas and other top brands in Nigeria to screen the highly-anticipated Marvel Studio’s Avengers: Infinity War.

    From the red carpet hosted by Shine to the screening room, the star-studded event, which held at The Palms Cinema, Lekki on Wednesday, had guests, cinema goers and Marvel fans alike reeling in excitement at the cinematic moments/experiences that were created.

    TECNO Mobile has hosted Nigeria’s biggest smartphone photography master class at the Social Media Week in Lagos.

    The event held at the Landmark Towers, Victoria Island, Lagos.

    The yearly event was attended by top executives and experts. They discussed smartphone camera craze, which has been an important subject matter in the past year.

    To educate and empower photography lovers, service providers and mobile phone users, TECNO Mobile partnered Wakafire Photography to host the smartphone photography masterclass.

    At the Masterclass, speakers, such as popular freelance journalist, celebrity YouTuber and Founder of DIY Dose – Torera Idowu along with seasoned tourist, Documentary and Lifestyle photographer – Abdusalam Hamza and Lead Photographer at Wakafire Smartphone Photography – Obasa Olorunfemi were on hand at the training sessions with senior executives from the smartphone brand.

    YouTuber and Idowu took attendees through the creating of magical videos on their mobile, emphasising on how smartphone adoption has made it easier and affordable to shoot a full documentary.

    She also recalled how she won ‘The Thompson RTE Mobile Journalism’ award for her first documentary which she filmed with a mobile device.

    “My mind was blown, when I won the award despite the fact that more experienced journalists from all around the world competed for the same award, but I won and got to meet mobile enthusiasts who actually used mobile to create TV packages, documentaries and others,” she said.

    Hamza and Olorunfemi took the audience on a journey of pictorial bliss with their hands-on presentations which touched on the steps to great photography, editing apps and using light to achieve photos that speak.

    PR Manager TECNO Mobile Nigeria, Jesse Oguntimehin, expressed delight at the success of the master class, adding that it was set up not only to discuss the importance of smartphone camera, but also to also re-emphasise TECNO position on making life easier for the public and e-commerce merchants by continually providing them with the best smartphone camera features.

    The latest product from the stable of Tecno Mobile, the Camon CM is a high-end smartphone with outstanding camera and a chic to get heads turned. Not only is the device sleek, it also comes with the first of its kind design on a Tecno phone – a full screen display, which means consuming media, playing games and whatever that finds its way to the frameless screen is going to be exciting.

    Features:

    In with the dynamics in the telecoms sector, it is a fourth generation (4G) mobile device, specifically designed to cater to Nigeria’s multi-simming culture. It is a dual mini subscriber identity module (SIM) device.

    It has a 5.7 -inch HD IPS Touch Display, 720 x 1440 pixels (364 PPI) and 1.25GHz Cortex, MediaTek Chipset with 2GB RAM.

    While the design appeared to have been inspired by Samsung S8, the sleekness of the phone can only be compared to Tecno devices such as the Tecno K7, Spark K9 plus and Cx.

    The 2.5 corning third glass stands up to impact in case of an unintended fall.

    The fingerprint scanner is located on the back on the phone. Also, the rear camera and Quad-LED flash are located at the top edge.

    Camera

    A full screen device, it has 13MP on both rear and the front. The back camera is equipped with 13MP with f/2.0 aperture and the Quad-LED flash allows for great pictures in poor lit environments. On the other hand, the front utilises a 13MP camera with f/2.0 aperture, LED flash and there’s a HDR portrait feature which allow for crisp and clear selfies. Back camera (primary):13MP, LED Flash, HD video with autofocus, smart gesture, geo-tagging, panorama while the front camera is the secondary.

    Software

    The heart of the phone is driven by the MediaTek MTK6737H Quad-core chipset clocked at 1.3GHz. Coupled with 2GB of RAM, the result is a fast smartphone that executes tasks without much time wasting.

    It features a 16GB of storage which can be expanded to 128GB with a MicroSD card while the interface is spiced up with the Android 7.0 (Nougat), while the HiOS brings a revamped feeling to users.

    Battery

    The Tecno Camon CM has a 3000 mAh battery which rather suits the screen resolution. There’s also significant battery conservation.

    Pricing,  availability

    The Camon CM comes in at the high-end ranging from N47,000 – N53,000. Its dollar equivalent is about $130.

    3C Hub has partnered Tecno for its sale and distribution.

    It operates on Android 7.0 (Nougat) operating system with 1.25GHz Quad-core Processor (Mediatek Chipset) and in black colour.

    It does not support 2G CDMA 1X, 3G CDMA EVDO, HSPA+, CDMA EVDO, NFC, Infrared Blaster, Iris scanner, document editor, not water resistant. It has no wireless charging, video editor, barometer and pedometer.
