    Stop telling lies, Tems blast American record producer, ATL Jacob

    Grammy award-winning singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, and American record producer ATL Jacob engaged in a public exchange on social media over a lingering issue.

    The dispute arose when ATL Jacob, in a recent podcast, asserted that Tems initially resisted clearing her sample on Future’s ‘Wait For, U,’ a track featuring her and Drake.

    ATL Jacob, the producer of the song, alleged that Future had to intervene and leverage his relationship with Tems to secure her approval for the sample.

    However, his claims were criticized by social media users, prompting Tems and her manager to deny the allegations.

    Reacting to the backlash via X, ATL Jacob wrote: “All this negativity coming to me … I got a $100,000 wire transfer for Tems and her team to find me 1 time I spoke negatively about her.”

    Replying, Tems said she would offer the American producer $1 million instead if he stops “telling lies.”

    She wrote: “It’s not about saying anything negative. Stop telling lies. I’ll give you 1 million.”

    Tems, the Grammy-winning singer, has reflected on her childhood experiences dealing with bullies, particularly due to the pitch of her voice.

    In an interview with The Cut, she shared that she refrained from speaking until the age of three.

    Tems admitted to feeling self-conscious growing up, saying her voice set her apart from other girls and became a target for bullying.

    She said: “I was bullied to the point of tears and was a target of ridicule. This led to the belief that I sounded like a boy, or a frog, with the impression that my voice was ugly.

    “I was always in my own little world. When I did make friends, I would try to make them sing my songs and other girls had these sweet, high voices and my voice had a bass.”

    Recall that she had previously stated that she started making music because she doesn’t have friends.

    Grammy-winning artist, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has revealed her choice of outfit if given an opportunity to have dinner with Barack Obama, a former US President. 

    Tems said she would probably put on a jean to see the former president, saying she isn’t going to make the dinner a formal setting. 

    Tems stated in an interview with Notjustok that she doesn’t mind seeing Obama in jeans since he placed her song “Me & U” on his playlist for 2023.

    The performer stated: “If Barack Obama invited me for dinner, I think I will wear jeans. I want it to be a nice chill vibe. He’s already been a president. Why do we have to make things so formal?.”

    As she discussed her attire and other topics throughout the interview, the singer received a variety of responses.

    Why prayer is important to my career, success, achievement – Tems

    Grammy-winning singer, Temilade Openiyi, aka Tems has opened up on how she is more rooted in the place of prayers, particularly when she is traveling. 

    Tems in an interview with Cool FM, emphasised how she incorporates prayer in her day to day routine. 

    She said: “I have a routine and a couple of practices and prayer is one of them. Every time I’m on the road, in a plane or in a car, I’m always listening to a message of some sort.”

    The ‘Me & U’ crooner noted that many people have different beliefs and stressed how important her relationship with God is to her on her journey.

    “I know what I’ve been through. It’s important that people know that I didn’t come here by myself and everything has been orchestrated by God and I wanna be as honest as possible no matter how much backlash, some people might think it’s weird but it’s okay. I stand on what I believe in. People have different beliefs and I get that and I have to thank him,” she added

    Tems made it clear that she didn’t want anyone to ever believe that she did it all by herself.

    She believes in God and her faith, which has so far enabled her to overcome obstacles.

    “I feel like when you have a relationship with someone or If you’ve been through something with someone and someone says, ‘How did you do this?’ and you know that it is this person that has been guiding you through and helping you, imagine how the person would feel if you said I’ve just been doing my own thing, I came here by myself, everything I got was me. For me God is not a word or just an idea, for me he’s real and my life is real and my journey is real. In moments where I thought I wasn’t going to make it, I did and I have to.”

    Grammy-winning afrobeats singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems has shared a distressing encounter where she faced death threats due to rumours of being pregnant for American rapper, Future.

    Recall that the rumour was circulated on social media, after a video of the singer surfaced seemingly showing what appeared to be a baby bump.

    The artist swiftly took to social media to debunk the speculations, asserting that she was not expecting a child.

    In an interview with The Beat 99.9 FM in Lagos, the Oscar-nominated artist disclosed the unsettling aftermath of the false pregnancy rumours.

    She shared that she received direct messages on social media, containing harsh criticism regarding her alleged relationship with Future, whom she clarified she had never met.

    She said: “When I heard that I was pregnant, I didn’t actually think anybody believed it. I didn’t know it was serious until I started getting messages like death threats, like, ‘How dare you? Of all the people in the world, Future, really?’ And I’ve never met him in my life. So it’s crazy.”

    Tems, known for her collaborations with international artists, including Drake on the Grammy-winning song “Wait For U,” emphasised that despite her professional interactions with Future and Drake, the rumours were entirely baseless.

    She affirmed that she had never encountered the American rapper in person.

    Tems, however, said that irrespective of the challenges and hardship in Nigeria, the citizens are blessed especially and if they can channel and utilise the energy away from the country then it will be more appreciated.

    She described being a Nigerian woman as “a miracle.”

    “I think Nigerian women are the most blessed. I won’t say the most blessed but everybody is blessed in an equal manner but Nigerian women are very special to me. They are very dear to me and I believe that it is such a huge blessing to be a Nigerian woman and to be living in this time.”

    Hip-hop artiste Tochukwu Ojogwu aka Odumodublvck has revealed the heavy amount his colleague, Tems charges for a feature.

    The ‘Declan Rice’ crooner while responding to a fan who asked whether the Grammy-winning singer would be featured on the deluxe edition of his album, ‘Eziokwu’, said he can’t afford a Tems’ feature.

    He said Tems charges $500,000 (about ₦402,470,000.00) per verse.

    The fan with the X handle @shey_drogo wrote, “Hope Tems is on the deluxe.”

    Grammy-winning singer, Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems has bragged about how the saving grace and the power of healing changed and turned her life around for the better.

    The singer quoted a post by her manager on Twitter where he posted a throwback photo of both of them, alongside a recent photo.

    Her manager, Muyiwa Awoniyi, thanked God for his tender mercy as many people did not know what God delivered Tems from.

    Celebrity singer, Tems, has classified herself as an introvert whenever she comes to Nigeria.

    This, she said, is because she has little or no liberty to go out at will.

    The musician revealed in an interview where she said Nigerians are always observant and as soon as she lands, wherever she stays, people around there always know.

    Even though Tems admitted that in America where she currently resides, she is still noticed, but not as much as it is in Nigeria.

    Grammy-winning singer, Temilade Openiyi aka Tems, has narrated how she spent two nights in a Ugandan prison

    Recall that Tems and Omah Lay were arrested and charged to court and subsequently detained in prison in Uganda for making an appearance at a concert held in the country at Speke Resort, Kampala, on Saturday, December 12, 2022, despite COVID-19 social distancing regulations.

    However, speaking in a recent interview with Angie Martinez of Power 105.1 FM, New York, Tems insisted that they didn’t break COVID-19 rules, claiming that “it was a setup.”

    The Oscar-nominated diva said she thought she wasn’t going to come out of jail and was “already settling in” as she emphasised that she adapts very quickly.

    Tems said: “We didn’t break the Covid-19 rules. It was basically like a set-up. We went to Uganda, and I had a show there. It was during COVID year but they had opened things up that time. They had just had a rally in Uganda. People were going out. It wasn’t on lockdown. It was the aftermath.

    “And the organisers said they had the permit, they sent us the permit. Everything was cool. And went there and there was this particular artist, I’m not sure now what his role was but he was just busy threatening Nigerian artists that they shouldn’t come. And after the show, the police came. They weren’t in uniforms. They just knocked on my hotel room. My manager and I were eating lunch or dinner. And they just came and said we should follow them and my manager was like he would go with them.

    “So, he went with them. But they came back upstairs to pick me up. So, it was like who called them? Later, I found out that there was some weird… That was so scary. I spent two nights in prison. I thought I wasn’t gonna come out. I thought maybe I was going through it for a reason. I was like maybe this is for me to help the people in prison. It was crazy, I ain’t gonna lie. I was settling in because I adapt real quick.”
