Tinubu-Kwankwaso alliance talks not unusual, says presidential aide

As political manoeuvring intensifies ahead of the 2027 general elections, a senior aide to President Bola Tinubu has said there is nothing unusual or suspicious about the President’s recent meeting with former Kano State governor and NNPP chieftain Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso.

The meeting, held last week at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, has sparked speculation about a possible alliance between the two political figures.

Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Print Media, said during a television interview on Monday that such engagements are normal in politics and should not be misinterpreted.

“Politicians talk; it’s not a sin to talk across lines,” Abdulaziz stated. “The President or his allies meeting with Kwankwaso, or vice versa, should not be seen as strange. Politics is about alignment, realignment, and evolving strategies.”

He recalled that both Tinubu and Kwankwaso served in the National Assembly during the Third Republic and later became governors in 1999—ties that have fostered a long-standing political relationship.

Analysts view the meeting as part of a broader strategy by Tinubu to strengthen his support base ahead of the next election, particularly in Kano State, which boasts significant electoral value. In 2023, Kwankwaso won 38 out of 44 local governments in Kano with 997,279 votes, while Tinubu polled 517,341 votes in the state.

Observers suggest that courting Kwankwaso and his Kwankwasiyya movement could help the ruling party counter a growing coalition of opposition forces, including Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi.

Abdulaziz also addressed recent criticisms from Kwankwaso, who alleged that the Tinubu administration had prioritised road infrastructure projects in the South over the North. The presidential aide dismissed the claims, stating that the administration’s infrastructure agenda is based on national economic priorities rather than regional bias.

“We should look at things as national projects, not as northern or southern projects,” he stated. “What is important is the economic benefit these roads bring. No one can credibly accuse this government of being unfair to any region.”

He specifically mentioned that work is ongoing on the crucial Abuja-Kaduna-Kano expressway, countering Kwankwaso’s claims that the project had been abandoned. He also pointed out the significance of the Sokoto-Badagry road, a major infrastructure undertaking with vast portions in the North, as being comparable in scope and strategic importance to the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Road in the South.

The presidential aide further linked the recent defections of two opposition governors, Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom and Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta, to Tinubu’s inclusive and approachable style of politics, not coercion. He said their decisions reflect the president’s growing influence across party lines.

“With the president’s door always open and his network of friendships remaining largely intact, it’s no surprise that political leaders are gravitating towards the APC,” Abdulaziz concluded.

As the race to 2027 heats up, Kwankwaso remains a critical political figure, with both the ruling APC and opposition parties like the PDP, Labour Party, and ADC vying for his support. His next moves, whether within or outside the NNPP, could significantly influence the outcome of the next presidential contest.

  • Open Letter to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria

Open Letter to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria

    Your Excellency,

Permit me to humbly reach out through this open letter, as it appears the most direct and effective means of communication in these times. I do so with deep respect and unwavering commitment to the ideals of service and patriotism that you so passionately uphold.

I am one of the many loyal foot soldiers who worked tirelessly during the last general elections to ensure victory for our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), across multiple levels. I served as Director of Campaigns both at the local level in Ado-Odo/Ota and at the senatorial level in Ogun West. I also had the honour of leading the advance team for the Governor during the campaign period.

Sir,I had earlier written to extend my heartfelt congratulations on your well-deserved affirmation by the Supreme Court. That landmark judgment not only reaffirmed the mandate freely given to you by the Nigerian people but also reinforced our collective confidence in your vision to lead our great nation through 2027 — and, by the grace of God, potentially until 2031.

In that same letter, I respectfully noted that the people of Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency remain steadfastly loyal to your leadership — a loyalty that was clearly reflected in the outcome of the 2023 general elections, which you won convincingly. I also pointed out that, despite our unwavering support, we are yet to be considered for a federal appointment.

Once again, I write to respectfully bring this matter to your attention. It is both urgent and deeply symbolic.

The people of Ado-Odo/Ota Federal Constituency — proudly the ancestral home of the Awori people — played a pivotal role in the success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the 2023 Presidential Election. Our performance was not only exceptional within Ogun State, but also stood out among 137 local governments across the entire South-West geopolitical zone.

To illustrate this, allow me to share the electoral performance figures:

Top Results from the 137 local governments in the South-West in the 2023 Presidential Election

    RankLocal GovernmentStateVotes for APC
      1AlimoshoLagos71,326

    7Ado-EkitiEkiti28,751
    8OsogboOsun27,474
    9Ibadan NorthOyo28,416

While Ado-Odo/Ota came fifth overall in votes cast for the APC, it is important to note that the four LGAs ahead of us—though with marginally higher numbers—were won by opposition parties. This distinction makes Ado-Odo/Ota the number one performing APC local government across the entire South-West. Such a monumental achievement deserves recognition and federal inclusion.

Regrettably, despite our contributions and unwavering loyalty, our Federal Constituency  and local government has yet to receive any form of federal appointment—no Special Advisers, no Board Chairmen, no Directors-General, not even Senior or Special Assistants to the President.

Your Excellency, this is disheartening for a community that gave so much and asked for so little. As the Yoruba adage goes: “Omo eleran ko gbodo je eegun”, meaning “the child of a meat seller should not be left to gnaw on bones.” We, the people of Ado-Odo/Ota, humbly seek what is due to us—not as a favour, but as a recognition of merit and loyalty.

With a current registered voter strength of over 400,000, Ado-Odo/Ota holds significant strategic electoral importance. If properly mobilized and engaged through federal presence and appointments, this local government alone has the potential to deliver over 100,000 votes in future elections.

In view of the above, we respectfully appeal to Your Excellency to consider qualified sons and daughters of Ado-Odo/Ota for federal appointments in your administration. We believe this will not only honour our contributions but will also serve as a motivation for continued grassroots support for your Renewed Hope Agenda.

May the Almighty God continue to strengthen you with wisdom and good health as you lead our great nation to greater heights.

    God bless the President.
God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

    Respectfully,
    Hon. Olusegun Ojolowo-Ojuko
Former SSA on Housing to His Excellency,
Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR (Governor, Ogun State)

  • HURIWA hails Tinubu’s governance on economic advancement

HURIWA hails Tinubu’s governance on economic advancement

The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) on Monday described two recent economic advancement initiatives of the current administration for the youths of Nigeria and staff of tertiary institutions as significant and impactful.

HURIWA urged the government to ensure transparency and accountability in the implementation of its policies.

According to a statement issued by the National Coordinator of HURIWA, Emmanuel Onwubiko; “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu knowing that these two programmes are capable of economically advancing the welfare and wellbeing of the youth population and a large number of staff of higher educational institutions, should direct the EFCC and ICPC to set up monitoring desks to oversee and forensically monitor the implementation of these two economic development initiatives”.

HURIWA recalled that in his Democracy Day address on June 12, President Bola Tinubu made a promise that this July, the Federal Government would launch a credit initiative to impact 400,000 Nigerians – including youth corps members – with consumer credit.

The human rights group affirmed that it is worthwhile to applaud the government for ensuring that the promise of the President comes to life at the weekend with the official launch of YouthCred, a national initiative under the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP), aimed at empowering young Nigerians with responsible access to credit—starting with NYSC Corps members.

The civil rights advocacy group, quoting a media statement from the Federal Ministry of Youth Development, stated that the government asserted that the launch follows the successful Strategic Planning and Debriefing Session of NYSC State Coordinators, where CREDICORP formally signed an MOU with the National Youth Service Corps and trained NYSC officers across all 36 states on the YouthCred platform.

This, HURIWA said, marks a critical institutional alignment between both agencies to deliver credit, not just as financing, but as a tool for economic transformation.

HURIWA noted that with a youth unemployment statistical data that is considerably high at 7.2 percent in the second quarter of 2023, the government should be commended for the efforts to economically empower the youths.

The group also observed that the country is not seriously lacking in good projects on paper, but emphasized that what is of paramount importance is for the government to adopt the best global practices and put in place a clean governance structure that would compel the agencies responsible for executing these projects to carry them through to their logical conclusions to empower the targeted youth’s population.

HURIWA recommended that government officials who obstruct the smooth implementation of these pro-poor economic empowerment initiatives for the youth population and staff of higher educational institutions in the country should be prosecuted efficiently by the anti-corruption agencies and blacklisted as economic saboteurs whose names should be on the National criminal data.

The group also called on the organised civil society organisations to form coalitions to effectively observe the implementation of the initiative and also the loan scheme being introduced for staff of tertiary institutions, which HURIWA advocated should rather be converted to a credit scheme rather than a loan scheme, which is characterised by high interest rates.

HURIWA, citing published official information, stated that the Federal Government has launched the Tertiary Institution Staff Support Fund (TISSF), a loan scheme that provides eligible tertiary institution staff with up to ₦10 million to support their welfare and development.

The Rights group recalled that last year, the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Abuja zone, had disclosed the death of some of its members due to economic hardship alongside poor remuneration of academics and unfavourable working conditions.

  • NDF slams ADC over debt claims, applauds Tinubu’s visionary leadership

NDF slams ADC over debt claims, applauds Tinubu’s visionary leadership

The National Democratic Front (NDF) has condemned the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for accusing the Tinubu administration of plunging Nigeria into an unsustainable debt crisis.

In a statement issued on Monday in Abuja and signed by its National President, Dr. Ghalil Nasir, the NDF described the ADC’s remarks as dishonest, misleading, and a desperate attempt to remain politically relevant.

Dr. Nasir criticised the ADC for what he termed a distortion of facts, noting that the party lacks any significant electoral mandate or policy track record.

“It is shameful that a party with no seat in the National Assembly and no notable policy contributions is attempting to distort public discourse by attacking a reform-minded administration,” he said.

He argued that President Tinubu inherited a troubled economy marked by ₦87.3 trillion in public debt, over ₦4 trillion in petrol subsidy arrears, a flawed multiple exchange rate system, and an inflation rate of 22.4%.

According to Nasir, the administration is now focused on cleaning up years of economic mismanagement and structural decay, despite facing unfair criticism.

“To stabilise such an economy without external financing would have meant shutting down capital spending and punishing the poorest Nigerians. Tinubu chose instead to act. What he has done is take decisive steps to stabilise a broken economy — steps that require both courage and capital,” he stated.

“To turn the economy around without external support would have required shutting down essential capital projects. That would have been far more damaging. What this administration has done is to seek concessional loans tied to infrastructure, energy transition, and economic competitiveness. These are not vanity loans. They are deliberate and targeted.”

Dr Nasir accused the ADC of relying on simplistic comparisons between the Tinubu and Buhari administrations without any economic nuance.

He said while Buhari’s borrowing was largely absorbed by recurrent expenditures and subsidy payments, Tinubu’s borrowing is capital-focused and structured for long-term return on investment.

Moreover, the NDF pointed out that most of the loans secured under Tinubu have been project-linked and transparent, often tied to multilateral development institutions with clear disbursement conditions.

“It is also dishonest to compare naira-denominated debt across time without accounting for inflation and exchange rate realities. What matters is not the size of the loan in naira, but what the money is used for — and President Tinubu is using it to build roads, rail, power, and retool the economy.”

The group also cited the recent positive signals from international observers, noting that institutions like the IMF and the African Development Bank have commended the Tinubu administration for its bold reforms.

According to Nasir, global investors are beginning to respond favourably, with portfolio inflows reaching $3.9 billion in Q1 2025 — the highest in five years.

On the ADC’s claim that Nigeria is heading toward a ₦200 trillion debt burden, the NDF accused the party of fear-mongering.

“The real question Nigerians should ask is: are we borrowing smartly? Are we investing in future growth? Under Tinubu, the answer is yes. No administration in recent history has demonstrated this level of transparency and alignment between debt and development,” Nasir said.

He challenged the ADC to name a single major national project or institutional reform it initiated or influenced.

“Their record is empty, but they are always the loudest in criticism. It is one thing to point fingers, it is another thing to lead — and the ADC has shown it cannot lead.”

The NDF called on Nigerians to remain vigilant against what it described as “destructive politics dressed as activism,” warning that attempts to undermine confidence in the country’s economic direction would only hurt ordinary citizens.

“We urge President Tinubu not to be distracted by naysayers. He is on the right path. Let the ADC bring ideas, not noise. Let them show Nigerians how they would do better — if they even know how,” the statement concluded.

  • Tinubu’s re-election will stabilise Nigeria, says Babayemi

Tinubu’s re-election will stabilise Nigeria, says Babayemi

A leading governorship aspirant in All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Omooba Dotun Babayemi, has said the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election would ensure the stability of Nigeria and its economy for the good of the populace.

He said members of APC in Osun State were already working towards making sure the party emerged victorious in the 2026 governorship election. The governorship hopeful spoke at the weekend during the continuation of his statewide ward-to-ward visit to three wards in Ayedire Local Government.

Babayemi, who recently concluded month-long consultative meetings with leaders and stakeholders in the 30 councils, is visiting each of the 332 wards.

Addressing leaders and members of APC at Olupona Wards 1 and 2 as well as Oke-Osun Ward 4, he said returning President Tinubu for second term should be paramount to Nigerians, especially APC members.

This, according to him, is because the President, since assumption of office, has rolled out reforms and programmes under the Renewed Hope Agenda that are already bearing positive fruits.

He noted that re-electing him would further put the country on a firmer footing.

  • A day for Tinubu, BAO, Afuye

A day for Tinubu, BAO, Afuye

The people of Ekiti State, irrespective of political leanings, are endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Biodun Oyebanji for second term today in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, at a grand ceremony organised by the all-inclusive, ‘State-Wide Endorsement Committee,’ led by former Deputy Governor Abiodun Aluko. Deputy Editor EMMANUEL OLADESU writes on the significance of the unprecedented move and implications for next year’s poll in the Fountain of Knowledge.

Ekiti State is ready for 2026 and 2027. Today in Ado, Ekiti, the state capital, indigenes and residents from over 120 towns and villages would converge on the Ekiti Parapo Pavilion to endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term.

Simultaneously, the determined electorate would also endorse Governor Biodun Oyebanji and his deputy, Mrs. Monisade Afuye, for re-election.

Next year’s governorship poll would precede the the 2027 presidential election.

Former four governors – Otunba Niyi Adebayo, Segun Oni, Ayodele Fayose, and Dr. Kayode Fayemi – are backing the president and governor.

Former deputy governor and leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Biodun Olujimi, who also defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the weekend, is expected at the event.

Ekiti is aglow with festivities as BAO  takes a bow for second term.

“Never has this type of thing happened in Ekiti, where four former governors are now backing an incumbent for a second term,” said Fayose on television.

The chairman of the Endorsement Committee, former Deputy Governor Abiodun Aluko, justified the collective backing for the president and governor. “The event is not just an endorsement, but a people-driven affirmation of the transformative leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji,” he said, adding that the reasons behind the move cannot be faulted.

“It is a confirmation of the series of endorsements cutting across all strata and a unification of the wish of Ekiti people and beyond to unite behind a common vision for continued progress. It is therefore, a defining moment in our political journey, a moment to reaffirm our commitment, express our gratitude, and showcase the enduring partnership between leadership and the people.”

President Tinubu has in the last two years pursued progressive policies and developmental programmes geared towars the repositioning of the country for excellence. In the couse of implenting the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda,’his reforms have been motovated by national interest and the prime desire to erect a firm foundation for good governance and leave a lasting legacy.

The president removed the fuel subsidy, thereby blocking the financial loopholes. More money now go the sub-national unit for development. He has been fighting the infrastructure battle with vigour. He has promised to give Ekiti infrastructural deficit a good attention, going by the assurance by the Works Minister Senator Dave Umahi. Many tertiary students now savour the Loans Scheme.

Recently, a new university was sited by the Tinubu administration at Iyin-Ekiti, in addition to the pre-existing federal institutions. Prominent Ekiti sons in the federal government relay how much the president loves Ekiti, stressing that he has been a great statesman, father-figure and good in-law.

Aluko also pointed out that Oyebanji has been up and doing by re-enacting or replicating the presidential feats in Ekiti. He explained In less than three years, the governor has demonstrated uncommon focus, humility, and effectiveness in governance, citing road construction  rural electrification, investments in education, healthcare, and job creation as his core achievements.

The Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, explained the focus and scope of the endorsement. He corrected the impression that only politicians or the APC family is involved, clarifying that the entire state, including individuals and groups,  academic, market men and women, food sellers, transport unions, okada riders, students, trade unions, artisans and peasants, are clamouring for the governor’s Oyebanji’s re-election.

A home boy, Oyebanji, who understands Ekiti ‘inside out,’ has allowed his cardinal decisions to be dictated by the wishes of the people. He has governed with humility, patriotism and commitment to welfare.

His success cannot be divorced from his orienation and experience about the challenges of development confronting the state. Born and bred in Ekiti, the governor attended primary, secondary and the state-owned university in the state. A native of rustic Ikogosi, which nevertheless, is catapulted to global fame as a tourist centre by the Warm Spring, Oyebanji is conversant with the language, yearnings and expectations of the far-flung communities and their thirst for a new lease of life.

His style has demystified government and governance. Always accessible and sympathetic to plight, he has always put himself in the shoes of in distress. It is not about mere populism. His open door policy has facilitated easy feedback, and as a governor commoners can see, feel, touch and speak with in the public, they pour out their minds to him at the town hall. In responding positively, they now believe they own the government of the people, with their blood flowing in the veins of the administration.

Oyebanji’s administration is a government of continuity. No doubt, his predecessor, Fayemi, laid a foundation that he has continued to build upon. It is to the credit of the maturity of the past and incumbent governors that unlike in Rivers and some other states, there is no repressed predecessor-successor crisis.

The governor has presided over a peaceful state. There is peace in the ruling party and government, and so far, there is no inter-party tension. His inclusive policies are generally endearing, making politicians from the ruling and opposition party to see the government as their own. Ekiti is one zone, although there are three senatorial districts created for political expediency . Appointments and infrastructural projects are evenly distributed among the districts, councils and local development authorities in a way that fosters equity and fairness. The critical engagement with the opposition has fostered amity and reduced the usual bitterness, acrimony and discord. Ekiti is no more in the news for the wrong reason. Gone were the days of violence, thuggery and killings.

Priority is accorded to security of life and property. The invasion of kidnappers from the neighbouring northern state of Kogi was halted. The state security achitecture was reinvigorated with new vision, personnel and equippment. There is inter-agency collaboration and synergy, and since security is a joint duty, the people became partners in intelligence gathering.

In the civil service state of Ekiti, there is cordial relationship between government and employees. Salaries of civil servants, teachers and local government workers are paid promptly.

Retirees are not in pains. Gratuities are not delayed. Pensons are paid regularly.

Ado-Ekiti, state capital and rallying point, is undergoing urban renewal. More people are flocking into the ‘city,’ because there is transquility. Currently, the state government is constructing the Ejigbo overhead bridge. Township roads are being reconstructed and rehabilitated. This also cuts across the councils.

    Road projects are being executed in Ikere-Igbara Odo Road, Ado-Ekiti, Ikere-Ise-Emure Ekiti,  Iworoko, Ifaki, Efon-Alaaye, Igbara-Odo-Ikogosi, Ilawe-Ikere, Omu-Ijelu, Ijurin-Ipoti, Ikole-Ara-Isinbode

The governor is also working towards stable power supply in Ekiti by reducing regulatory impediments. The Ekiti State Electricity Regulatory Bureau is being empowered to take control of the essential facility direction. Four Meter Assess Providers (MAP) have been identified and collaboration is ongoing between MAPs BEDC and Ekiti State to provide prepaid meters for many households at affordable cost.

The five pilot communities are Erinmope, Ode, Aisegba, Imesi, Ipole-Iloro. Also, an Order on tariff setting for customers under BEDC/IBEDC Services Areas have been issued.

The administration is erecting solar streetlights in towns to increase business hours and enhance security. Many communities savour  for State’s economy. Other projects the installation of new transformers, and the rehabilitation of 33KVA network, from Ilumoba to Ikole Ekiti, and the extension of 33KVA electricity network from Ilawe to Igbara-Odo Ekiti. Communities like Ijan, Ilumoba, Aisegba, Agbado, Imesi, Ode, Isinbode, Egbe, Iro Ayeteju and Omuo are connected to the national grid. Thus, darkness has become a thing of the past. The people of after many years of being in total blackout. The people of Omuo Ekiti to Eda Ile, Ikun Oba, Araromi and Ilasa Ekiti also enjoy electricity connection without interruption.

Oyebanji has established  commodity boards and introduced a minimum farm gate price, a guarantee of storage facilities in urban markets. His robust agricultural policy is designed to boost productivity and enhance food security.

The governor has also secured an $80 million AfDB fund for the Ekiti Knowledge Zone (EKZ) project, with the intention of empowering MSMEs with grants and credit.

Ekiti is noted for education. The governor was, partly, a product of free education of the Ajasin administration in the Second Republic. He is providing a conducive atmosphere for teaching and learning in schools. His administration has recruited 1,300 primary school teachers and invested N14 billion in the renovation and construction of 203 public schools. He has paid N546.9 million in WASSCE examination fees for 16,269 students.

Health is wealth. Conscious of this fact, Oyebanji has upgraded healthcare facilities across the state and equipped them with personnel and adequate infrastructure.

JUST IN: Tinubu will win re-election in 2027, Fayose declares

    …says he won’t leave PDP

…predict election results for Peter Obi, Atiku, ADC, PDP

Ayodele Fayose, former governor of Ekiti State, has predicted that President Bola Tinubu would secure re-election in 2027 general election despite dissenting from the coalitions of opposition figures in the country.

Fayose, a strong stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), said President Tinubu remained unbeatable in the upcoming election owing to his leadership qualities and understanding of Nigerian political systems.

He spoke on a radio programme aired on Adaba 88.9 Fm in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Sunday and monitored by the Nation.

“I do not deceive myself. Tinubu will win in 2027. Although I’m not a member of his party (APC) but he will surely win and get re-elected again. If you remember, Asiwaju (Tinubu) was not supported by his party in 2023.

“Those against him then even came up with manners of things that could stop him. You could remember what former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, did with our Naira to stop him.

“Even the late Muhammadu Buhari did not support him, but he still won. It is because Tinubu understands politics and the game. He would win again, I can bet it with anyone. So, is it now that those who called themselves coalition will now win him? No, I don’t deceive myself,” he said.

Fayose explained that his support for President Tinubu was “personal,” saying he still remained in the PDP and would not leave for APC, despite the crack and division in the opposition party.

Amid the division, the former governor also predicted a bleak future for the PDP, warning that the umbrella party may not even finish among the top three in the 2027 general elections.

“So, I will never decampe. I will never go to APC. When your family is in crisis, do you leave the party? No, I better be there and be fighting within and see to the election exercise. Mr Peter Obi will come second. PDP will come fourth in the 2027 general election.”

According to him, the PDP has been left in ‘carcass’ with the defection of its key members from the party to the African Democratic Party (ADC) and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He also lambasted the leadership of the PDP for undermining him despite his sacrifices to the development of the party, adding that his support for former Rivers governor and current minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike during the crisis in the opposition party was out of respect.

“There’s nothing to destroy again in PDP because it’s no longer a party. I labour in this party and to whom much is giving, much is also expected. I have paid my dues for the PDP. The majority of them in the ADC today drew the strength of the PDP, including Rotimi Amaechi, David Mark, and Nasir El-Rufia.

“I’m not a member of the APC, but those who accuse me of anti-party then are now leaving PDP in droves. The problem of PDP is self-inflicted. The party is even in more trouble and shambles.

“Obi was a former PDP governor in his Anambra and Atiku was a former vice president who continued to come in and exit but Wike stay in the party, funded the party and you don’t want me to support such person,” Fayose added.

He called for support for the governor of Ekiti, Abiodun Oyebanji, ahead of the state governorship election, saying those against his re-election in the state are enemies of progress.

Fayose, however, added that his support for Governor Oyebanji was because of the development projects embarked upon by his administration, stressing that all the past governors of Ekiti have decided to throw their support for his re-election bid.

Northern youth groups beg Tinubu to replace Yilwatda with Ja’oji

A coalition of Arewa youth groups have appealed to President Bola Tinubu to consider Nasir Bala Aminu, popularly known as Ja’oji, for appointment as minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

The coordinated Arewa Youth Groups made the request during an emergency meeting by the Northwest branch in Kano.

The meeting discussed the vacant position of the minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, as Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, who previously occupied it has been appointed national chairman of APC.

Aminu, from Kano state, is a board member of the Governing Council of Federal College of Education (Technical), Potiskum, Yobe State, renowned for his philanthropy and humanitarian works.

According to Arewa youths, “The Northwest has the largest concentration of All Progressives Congress (APC) members and therefore deserves the slot, and Jo’oji is fit for the office.

“We are calling on Mr President to kindly consider Hon Nasir Bala Aminu (Ja’oji), who has been a voice for the voiceless youths across the north, for appointment to fill in the vacancy left by Yilwatda, the coalition’s communique signed by its northwest zonal coordinator, Balarabe Abdullahi Jega, said.

Jega said Ja’oji’s contributions to human development is unwavering, as he also runs special scholarships for Nigerian students at home and abroad.

“He is a grassroots mobiliser, who believes in APC’s and Mr President’s agenda, policies and programmes, with unwavering loyalty to the President and party.

“We are assuring Mr President he would not regret appointing Ja’oji as next minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation.

“Jo’oji has all it takes for the position. His capacity and political will are undoubted, and his loyalty to the President will be his main thrust for engagements and commitments.”
