Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, on Monday, paid his first official visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of his planned defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Governor Kefas arrived at the Presidential Villa at about 1:30 p.m., and later proceeded to the President’s office around 2:00 p.m. in the company of the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, for a closed-door meeting.

Although details of the discussion were not disclosed, the meeting is viewed as a significant step in Kefas’ political realignment following his recent defection to the ruling party.

The Taraba governor had earlier been scheduled for a formal welcome ceremony into the APC on November 19, but the event was suspended after the abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State, which prompted him to call for a postponement in solidarity.

ACJA @10: Tinubu pledges support for justice sector reforms

    …as stakeholders push accountability

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s justice system, assuring stakeholders of full support for reforms aimed at promoting fairness, efficiency and transparency.

Delivering the President’s goodwill message at the National Symposium on Criminal Justice Administration in Abuja, the Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, said the Presidency remains focused on ensuring that the Administration of Criminal Justice Act (ACJA) becomes a “lived reality” for all Nigerians.

The event, organised by the Administration of Criminal Justice Monitoring Committee (ACJMC) to mark 10 years of the ACJA, brought together representatives of the Executive, Legislature, Judiciary, law enforcement agencies, legal professionals, civil society and development partners.

Delivering the President’s message, the Chief of Staff provided a reflective analysis of the ACJA’s achievements over the past decade and outlined strategic priorities for the next, including the harmonisation of ACJA/ACJL provisions nationwide, improving bail administration, strengthening accountability for law enforcement agencies, expanding legal aid and access to justice, and accelerating digital reform and automation of court processes.

He stressed the need for continuous training, modern infrastructure, stronger oversight, improved technology, harmonised standards and sustained public awareness so citizens understand their rights under the ACJA.

Attorney-General of the Federation, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), represented by Ahmed Wada, said the ACJA has strengthened rights protections, reduced pretrial detention and improved coordination across justice institutions.

He, however, called for renewed efforts to expand access to justice, improve public defence, strengthen oversight, support victims and witnesses and ensure sustained funding. Justice, he noted, must not only be promised but “proven.”

Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, represented by Kamila Mustafa Kida, said all 36 states have now adopted the ACJA, leading to faster trials, clearer arrest and bail procedures and improved custody standards.

A major highlight was the launch of the Criminal Justice Reporting Portal, a new platform designed to enforce mandatory reporting obligations and enhance accountability.

The symposium also adopted a National Strategy on Criminal Justice Administration to guide reforms over the next decade.

ACJMC Executive Secretary, Evbu Igbinedion, urged states to fund their monitoring committees, noting that only three currently do so, even as she expressed optimism that stronger collaboration would deepen the integration of technology and accountability across the justice system.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured parents of the abducted pupils and teachers of St. Mary’s Catholic Primary and Secondary Schools, Papiri, in Agwarra Local Government Area of Niger State, that their children will soon return safely.

Delivering the President’s message during a visit to the Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese and proprietor of the school, Most Rev. Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, said every necessary effort is underway to secure the children’s release. The meeting, held at St. Michael’s Catholic Cathedral, Kontagora, also had several affected parents in attendance.

Ribadu said security agencies have intensified operations around the area and expressed confidence that the victims will be rescued unharmed.

“The children are where they are and will come back safely. God is with them and God is with us. Evil will never win. They are going to come back, I give you assurance,” he said.

He added that national unity remains essential to defeating the criminal groups tormenting communities across the country.

“This is a solemn and difficult moment for us, especially after hearing from some of the parents. However, we take responsibility because it is our duty to protect you,” he stated.

According to him, President Tinubu immediately cancelled a planned trip upon receiving reports of the abduction and directed the security leadership to visit the school and its community. “Mr. President is in pain. He is in sorrow, just like all of us. Enough is enough. Let us not allow bad people to divide us or let evil get into us,” Ribadu added.

The NSA was accompanied by the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Bernard Doro; Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Oluwatosin Ajayi; and Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Northern region, Rev. Joseph Hayab. No representative of the Niger State Government was present at the meeting.

Ribadu commended Bishop Yohanna for his unwavering support and transparency since the incident, revealing that Nigeria is receiving external assistance to strengthen ongoing security operations.

“Many good people from all over the world are coming to support us, including the United States, France, the United Kingdom, and others. The whole world is coming together to defeat this evil that has plagued Nigeria for two decades,” he said.

He further assured that the school will continue to operate and that adequate security will be provided to ensure the children’s safe return and long-term protection. “This thing they have done is what will change Nigeria for good,” Ribadu noted.

Bishop Yohanna, while expressing gratitude to President Tinubu and Ribadu for the visit and words of reassurance, said the intervention has brought renewed hope to the affected families.

He presented a detailed report on the incident to the NSA before a closed-door meeting that lasted about 30 minutes.

The school principal, Rev. Sister Felicia Gyang, and a parents’ representative, Mr. Luka Iliya, also narrated how the abduction occurred and the emotional distress families are currently facing.

Security, welfare of Nigerians my priorities – Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu says the security and welfare of every Nigerian remain the sacred priorities of his government.

Tinubu stated this on Sunday in Lokoja, at the 10th Memorial Anniversary Celebration  of the former governor of Kogi, Late Prince Abubakar Audu

Tinubu, who was represented by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris said the administration had taken various steps to deliver on the priorities.

The President said the recent declaration of a state of emergency on national security underscored the gravity with which his government viewed the challenge.

“It is not a mere proclamation. It is a declaration of war against all forms of insecurity.

“As part of this, we have immediately begun the process of expanding the capacity of our armed forces and security agencies in numbers, in advanced weaponry and intelligence capabilities,” he said.

The President reiterated that the mis-characterisation of Nigeria as a religiously intolerant nation is a gross distortion of reality.

“We are actively presenting the true picture of Nigeria to the world.

“A nation where people of different faiths live, walk and pray side by side in peace.

“We will not relent until the world sees us for who we truly are,” Tinubu said.

Tinubu said that his administration intensified efforts in the modernisation of the livestock sector, empowerment of youths and expansion of infrastructure to deliver dividends of democracy and boost the economy.

“We are moving beyond old age practices that have too often led to conflict. We are launching a comprehensive initiative to modernise the livestock industry.

“The initiative includes the creation of large-scale managing schemes, improved animal husbandry of the livestock value chain into our national economy,” he said .

He said the initiatives were designed to create prosperity,  jobs, ensure food security and foster lasting peace.

“Through our social investment programs, we are placing the Nigerian people at the center of our governance..

“We are scaling up interventions to provide direct support to the most vulnerable, funding and nurturing our small and medium enterprises, our youth with the skills to compete and thrive in the global economy.

“We are undertaking an unprecedented expansion of our national infrastructure, from modernising our roads and rail networks to enhancing our power infrastructure,” Tinubu said.

Speaking on the main event, the President said, Audu’s name is irrevocably woven into the very fabric of the nation’s democratic journey.

According to him, Audu carved out a vision for Kogi and helped laid the foundation for Nigeria’s enduring journey to democracy.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that high point of the event was a book presentation titled, “Prince Abubakar Audu: A Legacy of Visionary Leadership”, put together by Dan Okolo and reviewed by Mr Adetokunbo Kayode.

Also, the Board of Trustees of Prince Abubakar Audu Leadership Foundation was inaugurated with fund raising to support the take off of the Foundation.

The event, which was organised by the state government in collaboration with the Abubakar Audu family, brought together political leaders, statesmen, and digni taries from across Nigeria. It was meant to commemorate a decade since the passing of the iconic leader whose vision and leadership continue to influence the political and developmental trajectory of Kogi State.

Tinubu vows to hunt down enemies of state, reaffirms commitment to national security

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has vowed to track down and defeat all enemies of the Nigerian state, declaring that his administration remains resolute in restoring peace and protecting citizens.

Tinubu made the declaration on Sunday in Lokoja at the memorial of former Kogi State Governor, Prince Abubakar Audu.

His remarks were conveyed by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, according to a statement issued by the minister’s media aide, Rabiu Ibrahim.

The President reaffirmed that the restoration of peace, strengthening of national security, and expansion of economic opportunities continue to top his administration’s agenda.

He acknowledged recent security setbacks but stressed that these challenges would not deter the government from fulfilling its obligations to Nigerians.

“Yet, we are under no illusions about the recent setbacks and security challenges that have tested our nation’s resolve. Let me be unequivocal: the security and welfare of every Nigerian remain the sacred priority of my government. We have therefore taken decisive action,” he said.

Tinubu further highlighted that the recently declared State of Emergency on national security is not a symbolic gesture but a firm demonstration of renewed commitment to safeguarding the nation.

He said the initiative will drive the expansion of security manpower, modernisation of intelligence capabilities, and strategic reforms—including the advancement of State Police as a tailored, community-sensitive solution to emerging local threats.

“The recent Declaration of a State of Emergency on national security underscores the gravity with which we view this challenge. This is not a mere proclamation; it is a declaration of war against all forms of insecurity. As part of this, we have immediately begun the process of expanding the capacity of our armed forces and security agencies in numbers, in advanced weaponry, and in intelligence capabilities. We will hunt the enemies of our state wherever they may be and restore the peace that is the rightful inheritance of every Nigerian.

“But to secure our people permanently, we must reform the very architecture of our security. This is why my administration is courageously championing the establishment of State Police. We believe that a more localised, community-sensitive security structure is vital to complement the valiant efforts of our national forces. It will also boost employment in the grassroots. This is a bold, necessary constitutional step, one that requires our collective will, and we are committed to seeing it through,” he said.

He added that the Federal Government is also intensifying international diplomacy to correct false narratives that misrepresent Nigeria’s religious harmony and peaceful coexistence.

In reflecting on the legacy of the late Prince Abubakar Audu, the President described him as a pivotal figure in Nigeria’s democratic evolution. He said the Late Prince Audu was a leader whose foresight helped shape the governance foundation of Kogi State and contributed to Nigeria’s transition into stable civilian rule.

He said Prince Audu’s political career was not an episode of personal ambition, but an enduring contribution to state-building and institutional strength. The President said he also views leadership in that same spirit where service is measured by impact, not applause.

“We are gathered to honour a giant. A man whose name is irrevocably woven into the very fabric of our democratic journey. Prince Abubakar Audu was not just a politician; he was a pathfinder. As the first democratically elected Governor of Kogi State, first in 1992 and again as a pioneer in 1999, Prince Audu carved out a vision for Kogi State and helped lay the foundation for our nation’s enduring democracy.

“He was my formidable ally, a brother in the struggle, and one of the founding fathers who, with courage and conviction, laid the foundations upon which our democratic ideals now stand. His legacy is not a relic of the past; it is a living, breathing template of bold leadership and transformative governance. It is a template this administration is committed to honouring, not just in words, but in concrete action,” he said.

While highlighting ongoing reforms in key sectors of the economy, President Tinubu said his administration is modernising the livestock farming framework to turn areas of historical tension into engines of economic development and peaceful coexistence.

“We are launching a comprehensive initiative to modernise the livestock industry. This includes the creation of large-scale ranching schemes, improved animal husbandry, and the integration of the livestock value chain into our national economy. Our goal is to transform this critical sector from a source of tension into a bastion of prosperity, creating jobs, ensuring food security, and fostering lasting peace between our farming and herding communities,” he stated.

Through the Social Investment Programmes, the President said, his administration is placing Nigerians at the centre of governance by scaling up interventions to provide direct support to the most vulnerable, funding and nurturing small and medium enterprises, and empowering youth with the skills to compete and thrive in the global economy.

Furthermore, he said, his administration is undertaking an unprecedented expansion of national infrastructure ranging from modernising road and rail networks to enhancing power infrastructure. “We are building the arteries that will connect our markets, power our industries, and unite our people. Your Excellency and the good people of Kogi state, the legacy of development Prince Audu began in Kogi is a model we are determined to replicate and scale across the nation,” he said.

  • Own your past failures, support Tinubu’s anti-terror war, Dare tells Obasanjo

Own your past failures, support Tinubu’s anti-terror war, Dare tells Obasanjo

…says those who midwifed Nigeria’s security crisis cannot rewrite history

Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Media and Public Communication, Chief Sunday Dare, on Sunday, challenged former President Olusegun Obasanjo to acknowledge his role in Nigeria’s security deterioration and support ongoing counter-terrorism efforts rather than undermine them.

In a strongly worded statement posted on his verified X handle, @SundayDareSD, Dare said Obasanjo’s recent comments, suggesting that the Tinubu administration is failing to protect Nigerians, were not only “hypocritical” but “ignoble,” arguing that terrorism in Nigeria took root during the former leader’s tenure.

“If Obasanjo wishes to help, he should acknowledge the past failures that allowed terrorists to gain a foothold, and then support ongoing efforts, not undermine them,” Dare wrote, insisting that true statesmanship requires sober reflection, not finger-pointing.

He recalled that Boko Haram’s ideological cells and early structures “were incubated during Obasanjo’s civilian presidency,” as extremist groups quietly recruited, indoctrinated, set up camps, and challenged state authority without decisive state action.

“For the leader under whom the first seeds of terrorism were allowed to germinate to now issue public lectures is not just ironic, it is reckless,” he stated.

Dare criticised what he described as attempts by Obasanjo and “a few habitual presidential aspirants” to paint the Tinubu administration as incapable, saying Nigerians had not forgotten those who “looked away when these threats first sprouted.”

According to him, Nigeria is today confronting a multilayered terrorist ecosystem comprising internationally designated terror organisations, ISIS- and al-Qaeda-linked franchises across the Sahel, local extremist groups disguised as bandits, cross-border cells exploiting porous frontiers, and ideological insurgents operating in ungoverned spaces.

“Let’s call them what they all are: terrorists,” he wrote.

He faulted Obasanjo’s suggestion that Nigeria should effectively subcontract aspects of its internal security to foreign governments, describing the idea as “capitulation, not statesmanship.”

“Before recommending surrender, the former President should reflect on what he failed to do when these terrorists first began organizing under his watch,” Dare argued, adding that undermining the country’s capacity only hands psychological victories to the terrorists.

The presidential adviser defended Tinubu’s security strategy, saying the government is meeting the threat “head-on” through kinetic and non-kinetic measures, modernising military capability, intensifying intelligence-led operations, restoring governance to neglected areas, deploying economic stabilisation programmes, countering radicalisation, and strengthening community trust.

He emphasised that while Nigeria is cooperating with the United States and allied nations, it “will not outsource its security or raise a white flag because someone who once had the chance lost his nerve.”

Dare warned that former leaders who publicly disparage ongoing efforts weaken national resolve, saying “a real statesman offers support, not sound bites.”

Under Tinubu, he said, Nigeria is committed to “securing every inch of the country by confronting terrorists with strength, unity, and a whole-of-government strategy,” stressing that the administration “will not be distracted by selective amnesia wrapped in elder-statesmanship.”

He added, “Let him [Obasanjo] put his position and connections at Nigeria’s disposal like he has done for other countries. Not seek to put down an administration that is fully engaging on many fronts: economic turnaround, providing security, and building key infrastructure.”

Dare maintained that with unity of purpose, Nigeria will defeat terrorism, urging all patriots to “join hands now and not raise alarms.”

  • Finally, President Tinubu takes the bull by the horns

Finally, President Tinubu takes the bull by the horns

    By Tunde Rahman

Given how sensitive the subject has become, it is understandable that the matter of state police has taken this long. Importantly, it has also become imperative that some drastic measures have to be taken to end the current security situation.

Last week, President Bola Tinubu finally took the critical step towards tackling the hydra-headed security problem in the country.

States that want to establish their own police, he declared, should now be free to do so. The widely-praised decision on state police was part of far-reaching orders the President issued that week, when he declared a national emergency on security.

Many leaders before Tinubu had seen the need for state police, but they lacked the political will to do what has long been regarded as necessary.

In a strongly-worded statement issued on November 26, President Tinubu also directed that the Armed Forces and police should recruit additional personnel, while the State Security Service should now deploy the already-trained Forest Guards to our forests to flush out terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements.

The President had earlier ordered the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to immediately withdraw police personnel serving as guards to Very Important Personalities and engage them for police duties in security-challenged areas. Egbetokun said during the week that over 11,000 officers so deployed have now been withdrawn from VIP guard duties.

While all these measures will make more personnel available and put more boots on the ground to combat crimes and other forms of insecurity across the land, the matter of state police, a hot-button issue that has been on the agenda for decades, seems to be the most fundamental.

By finally agreeing to throw his weight behind the issue, President Tinubu has now taken the bull by the horns.

He has taken his silent restructuring efforts to another notch. Many may not have noticed, but the silent restructuring has resulted in several courageous and innovative moves. For instance, one of the first bills President Tinubu signed into law upon assuming office on May 29, 2023, was the power sector reform legislation, which decentralised power generation, transmission, and distribution, allowing sub-nationals to participate in the sector.

The President also approved that Federal Capital Territory funds be removed from the Treasury Single Account, thus unlocking the funds accruing to the territory for FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to deploy to developmental projects. And this is what has largely accounted for the unprecedented infrastructure revamp witnessed in the city.

But the most significant of these are the economic reforms the President has carried out, straddling fiscal policy, energy sector reform and tax restructuring. The President removed the twin subsidies on fuel and foreign exchange, which did not benefit the people and the country as envisaged.

The humongous fuel subsidy was like a Sword of Damocles on the nation’s economic jugular, while the multiple exchange rates that prevailed before May 2023 allowed arbitrage to operate on all fours. All that the highly connected needed to do was this: obtain the foreign exchange at the official rate and move over to the black markets to sell at exorbitant rates, thus profiteering at the people’s expense.

There is also the new tax regime, scheduled to be operational from January next year, under which all taxes in the country have been streamlined, without burdening taxpayers with new taxes.

These monumental reforms are already yielding fruit. The economic indicators have already turned green. All that is left is for our people to reap bountifully from the gains of the reforms. The reforms need to affect their standard of living fully.

However, this cannot happen under the prevailing atmosphere of insecurity. This cannot occur if terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements are still on the prowl. No stone is, therefore, being left unturned in addressing the security issues. All efforts must be geared towards combating the menace and protecting our people.

The resort to state policing has the potential to reduce crimes, if not eliminate them. The people know most of the criminals in their neighbourhoods and communities. Giving states the power to establish their own police, as is the case in other jurisdictions, will convert the groundswell of intelligence at the local level into an advantage in surveillance, crime detection, and prevention.

Those who argue that the governors would abuse state police with their absolute control, that the police may become a tool in the hands of the states’ chief executives for hounding and oppressing political opponents, should also remember that even federal police are subject to abuse.

The #EndSARS protests of October 2020 were initially intended to draw attention to the excesses of the police, particularly police brutality from the now-disbanded SARS unit, before hoodlums hijacked the protests to unleash arson and loot public property and assets of targeted individuals.

State police may not be an end in itself. It would indeed require necessary fine-tuning, checks and corrections along the line when the system becomes operational. Those recruited into state police forces must be adequately trained, equipped, and briefed to understand the importance of their work and the implications of using force for improper purposes.

Now, the National Assembly and the general public have their own responsibility cut out for them. The lawmakers should now play their part by enacting the enabling laws to give effect to state policing. Under our federal system of government, states ordinarily should have been empowered to maintain their own police forces, as the Federal Government does. This did not happen. State police is indeed long overdue.

President Tinubu had said in his national security emergency statement: “I call on the National Assembly to begin reviewing our laws to allow states that require state police to establish them.

States should rethink establishing boarding schools in remote areas without adequate security. Mosques and churches should constantly seek police and other security protection when they gather for prayers, especially in vulnerable areas.”

He had said further, “My fellow Nigerians, this is a national emergency, and we are responding by deploying more boots on the ground, especially in security-challenged areas. The times require all hands on deck. As Nigerians, we should all get involved in securing our nation.”

Also relevant to this security challenge is the whistleblowers’ role. Our people should be encouraged to smoke out crime wherever it may be lurking by providing information to the police. It is now imperative for the National Assembly to enact the necessary laws to protect whistleblowers.

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes and Other Matters Commission, Mr Ola Olukoyede, has long been advocating this. The National Assembly must now take the gauntlet in the interest of a crime-free Nigeria and for the benefit of Nigerians. Let’s seize the moment we have craved for years.

Ondo APC leaders vow to mobilise massive support for Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid

Pioneer leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, under the banner of the Ondo APC Aborigines, have pledged to deploy the party’s numerical strength to secure the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 general election.

The commitment was made on Sunday at the official inauguration of the local government and ward coordinating committees for Tinubu 2027 in Ondo East and Ondo West Local Government Areas.

The Nation reports that discussions at the event focused on strengthening party cohesion, enhancing grassroots mobilisation, and preparing ahead of future elections.

Speaking at the inauguration, the convener of the group and former Nigerian Ambassador to Togo, Ambassador Sola Iji, described the APC as the dominant political force across all 18 local government areas of the state, maintained that this advantage would be harnessed to deliver overwhelming support for President Tinubu’s second-term bid.

Iji noted that despite ongoing economic challenges, the Tinubu administration had initiated key reforms aimed at stabilising the country.

He added that the APC structure in Ondo State was committed to communicating these achievements to voters across the grassroots.

According to him, the group had resolved to collaborate with other stakeholders in the party to ensure sweeping victory for President Tinubu and all APC candidates in the 2027 elections.

Iji urged ward and local government coordinators to work diligently with party leaders in their respective areas to secure victory at the polls, emphasising unity, discipline, and collective interest over personal ambitions.

“We are not in competition with the structures of the party or other support groups canvassing for the re-election of President Tinubu. We shall cooperate and collaborate with all stakeholders not only to win the state for the president but to maximise our returns at the polls.

“So, our numerical strength and network of canvassers should be an advantage in reaching out to voters across the length and breadth of the state,” he said.

He also urged continuous prayers for leaders at all levels and commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for delivering good governance and fostering peaceful coexistence in the state.

Iji equally appreciated the support of the Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, saluting him for his various reforms key to advancing development for the nation.

Also speaking, a former chairman of Ondo East Local Government, Hon. Rafiu Akinkuolie reaffirmed the group’s commitment to aggressive grassroots mobilisation, sustained engagement with youths and women, and the strengthening of ward structures ahead of 2027.

Similarly, Hon. Olawale Akinkuotu, another former chairman of Ondo East LGA, commended the resilience of members of the Aborigines group.

He advised them to remain steadfast and work with other party stakeholders to secure a resounding victory for President Tinubu in 2027.

Tinubu’s aide gets recognition for humanitarian services

The Personal Assistant to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Special Duties Alhaji Kamorudeen Yusuf at the weekend, earned commendation and wide acclaim as he was bestowed with two awards in recognition of his outstanding humanitarian services.

The event was at the CSR Reporters Social Impact and Sustainability Awards 2025, in Lagos.

The event tagged: ‘People, Plant, Purpose: The New CSR Imperative,’ drew participants from the organised private sector, public and diplomatic community, with many of them earning plaudits and recognition for their humanitarian gestures and charity giving.

While presenting the Education Advancement Personality of the Year and Social Impact Public Servant of the Year awards plaques to the presidential aide, Eche Munonye, the Chief Executive Officer of CSR Reporters said the former was singled out for recognition because of his selfless giving and support to the underprivileged in the society.

“We found Alhaji Kamorudeen Yusuf worthy of commendation and recognition for the many good works he had been doing. He is one politician and public servant with a difference. What keeps amazing us is that all the charity giving and support for the less privileged across-the-board whether paying school fees, awarding scholarships and other empowerment programmes are being carried out selflessly with intent to impact the society rather than sheer acts of public display and we noticed hence decided to honour him for the good work he is doing,” Munonye said matter-of-factly.

Responding, the award recipient who was represented by some members of Alliance for Kamosky, the support group for Yusuf, were effusive with praises for the organisers for the recognition accorded their principal.

Speaking separately with The Nation, Mr Bayo Wahab and Hajia Rihanat MotunrayoTaiwo, who spoke on behalf of the support group, said the recognition would further encourage Yusuf to continue to contribute his modest quota to the socioeconomic development of the people and communities wherever possible.

“It feels good to receive these awards because it’s a testimony to some of the impactful initiatives such as support for indigent students through scholarships as well as support for parents who struggle to pay school fees for their wards,” Wahab stressed.

Echoing similar sentiments, Taiwo said, “It’s a thing of joy that the impact our principal is making hasn’t gone unnoticed. As the saying goes the reward for good work is more work and I trust the person and personality of Hon. Kamorudeen Yusuf that he will keep giving back to society and he will never stop.”
