The Vice President said: “For us to build on the legacy and for the purpose of continuity and consolidation, it becomes imperative for the people of Kogi State to align themselves with the power at the centre.

“President Tinubu is a man of courage and conviction, he is a man pregnant with ideas on how to reposition the nation, but Kogi, which is one of the frontiers of the North, Kogi, the Confluence State, cannot afford to have a state government that does not belong to the power at the centre.

“For the people of Kogi State to benefit immensely from the eight-point agenda of President Tinubu, for the people of Kogi State to benefit from the natural resources, it is absolutely essential that we should vote for a much more patriotic person who is grounded with the reality in Kogi State.

“Most important to the people of Kogi State is the Ajaokuta Steel Company that is the largest steel industry in the country.

“The President appointed a son of Kogi State from one of the prominent families in the state, Prince Shuaibu Abubakar Audu, to be the Minister of Steel Development. “Fundamentally, he was given the appointment to promote, project and preserve the interest of the people of Kogi State to see to the realisation of the Ajaokuta Steel Company, which of course, is 98 per cent completed.

“Ajaokuta steel company has the potential to generate over 500,000 jobs once Ajaokuta is designated as an industrial zone.

“The youth want jobs, better education and good life. You are better off if you follow the man who knows road. Therefore, give your votes to APC, give your votes to Usman Ahmed Ododo. This is a young man who can deliver the desired dividend of democracy to you.”

He said, “I urge you to vote for consolidation by voting for the APC Governorship Candidate to enable him build on security, infrastructure, education and several other visible achievements of Governor Yahaya Bello.

“The APC will sustain the trajectory of development in Kogi State. Don’t vote for strangers. Get your PVC and vote for the APC. In Kogi State, we have only one party and that is the APC,” he said.

Governor Abiodun also welcomed thousands of defectors from opposition parties, who had just declared on Sunday for the APC, saying they had taken the best decision to stay with the winning train in the interest of the state’s sustained development.

The defectors were from the People’s Democratic Party, Labour Party, Social Democratic Party, Accord Party and the African Democratic Congress, among others.

The Campaign Council Chairman maintained that, with the massive defection into the APC from the opposition political parties, it was clear that Ododo would emerge victorious.

“The only party in Kogi is the APC. We have all it takes to mobilise massively for the APC Governorship Candidate.

I’m proud to state that we are leaving Kogi State better than we met it for those that will govern after us,” he said.

Ignore distractions, ex-APC senators advise Tinubu

Former National Assembly members elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have urged President Bola Tinubu to ignore distrations by remaining focused and committed to good governance.

The 107 APC non-serving senators said the President has utmost respect for due process and the principles of justice.

The ex-legislators noted that “the current unfounded allegations surrounding President Tinubu’s credentials have sparked public discourse and, in some cases, public outrage”.

The former National Assembly members, in a statement ysterday by their protem chairman, Senator Basher Lado, said it is essential to emphasise the need for caution and a commitment to the rule of law at a time like this.

The statement reads: “President Tinubu has been a dedicated leader serving our nation with distinction and integrity for many years. The allegations being fueled by the opposition are a matter before the court of law, and we trust in the judicial process to address these claims fairly and impartially.

“It is not uncommon for world leaders or prominent figures to face challenges and allegations during their careers. History has shown us that allegations, when thoroughly examined, often reveal the truth or innocence of those who serve with honour.

“We draw inspiration from leaders around the world who faced adversity but emerge with their integrity intact. We cite some examples of leaders who faced similar trials.

“The former U.S President Barack Obama, during his tenure, faced unfounded allegations questioning his place of birth and citizenship, notably referred to as the ‘birther’ controversy. We draw important lessons from President Obama’s response to this challenge.

“Despite the baseless nature of the allegations, President Obama remained steadfast in his dedication to governing the United States.

“Narendra Modi, the (current) Prime Minister of India, faced allegations related to his educational qualifications during his tenure. His focus remained on governance, and his commitment to India’s development.

“These examples from around the world illustrate that challenges and allegations are not uncommon in the lives of leaders, particularly during moments of responsibility. They also demonstrate the power of truth, the strength of character, and the resilience of leadership. We believe President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will do the same.

“We, therefore, call upon the public to exercise patience and allow the legal process to run its course. Let us refrain from making hasty judgments and spreading negative comments on social media, which can be detrimental to the functioning of our government and the unity of our nation.

“President Tinubu remains committed to the betterment of Nigeria and its citizens. We believe in his leadership, his dedication to our nation’s progress, and his unwavering determination to overcome any challenges that may arise.

“In times of adversity, we must remember that leadership is often tested. Our nation’s strength lies in unity and the pursuit of justice. We stand firmly behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and urge all Nigerians to do the same, as we trust that the truth will ultimately prevail.

“May wisdom and unity guide us through these testing times.”

Tinubu’s leadership right for Nigeria, says Sani Musa

The chairman, Senate Committee on Finance, Senator Sani Musa (APC-Niger East), has described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration as the right leadership the country needs at this time.

Senator Musa who made this assertion in Abuja on Saturday while fielding questions from journalists on the 63rd Independence anniversary of Nigeria, however called on the federal government to privatise moribund petroleum products refineries owned by it.

According to him, the refineries have more or less turned to bottomless pit for government as far as turnaround maintenance is concerned.

“For me, my candid advice to the Federal Government on the nation’s apparently moribund oil refineries, is for them to be  privatised.

“Proceeds from such privatisation should be sunk into the mining sector for jobs creation for the teeming Nigerian youth who are  roaming the streets on daily basis.

“The youth constitute 70 per cent of Nigeria’s population and must be made to be productive which is doable if the mining and agricultural sectors are re-positioned for that.

“The Not-too-young-to-run opportunity given to the youth in the political terrain should be practically extended to the realm of innovation by providing them with conducive environment and enablement to innovate as it is in most developed countries,” he said.

He added that Nigeria has not done poorly in her 63 years of self-governance but posited that what it needs now, is right leadership.

The right leadership, he explained, will help in harnessing the abundant human and natural resources the country is blessed with for the greatest good of the greatest number of her citizens.

He, however, insisted that the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration, is showing inclination for the right leadership needed by the country.

I didn’t attend anti Tinubu’s meeting in Rivers, APC chieftin cries out

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Rivers State, Chukwudi Dimkpa, has distanced himself from an allegation that he attended a meeting where a former Transport Minister, Chibuike Amaechi, directed party members to vote for the Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last election, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

Dimkpa said he was compelled to react to a statement credited to Tony Okocha, another APC chieftain, that he worked against the emergence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the poll.

He advised Okocha against being an agent of disunity in the party saying that Okocha should seek to unite the party and not to destroy it.

Speaking through his Special Assistant on Media, Stephen Deegbara, the APC chief said contrary to Okocha’s claims, he worked tirelessly for the president’s victory in the state and deserved a better place in President Tinubu’s administration than Okocha.

He said: “We note that as a committed member of the APC, Chukwudi Dimkpa has devoted his time, energy, and resources along with other stakeholders to ensure that the party emerged victorious in the just concluded polls.

“Among other assignments he delivered successfully, Dimkpa was head of the Security Committee for the Asiwaju Tinubu Presidential Campaign Rally in Rivers State, where he ensured, along with members of the team and security agencies, a safe, secure and seamless campaign rally, in Port Harcourt.

“This feat was achieved despite spirited efforts by persons well known to Mr. Okocha to derail the peaceful conduct of the campaign rally.”

He further said that the party under the leadership of Abdullahi Ganduje, was determined to end internal friction within the party and commended the former Kano State Governor for advising Okocha.

He said: “We appeal to our dear Chairman (Ganduje) to be wary of characters, whose actions are clearly not in consonance with the party’s desire for unity, but represent a selfish plan to derail the laudable objectives of the National leadership of the All Progressives Congress with regards to the Rivers State chapter of the APC.”

Dimkpa said he would not excgange words with Okocha, but would support him in his national assignment in the board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC).

He said: “It would be wise advice for Mr. Okocha to stop being an agent of disunity and distractions to Mr. President’s administration and the APC.

Tinubu: Chicago State varsity has provided sufficient answers to all questions — Okeh

    By Alao Abiodun

Political analyst, Bamidele Okeh has said that the truth about Chicago State University’s position on President Bola Tinubu’s academic records cannot be disproved by political detractors.

According to him, the institution has provided sufficient facts to affirm that President Tinubu was its student and also graduated from the varsity.

Okeh noted that those who have been claiming that Tinubu was never a graduate of the university have suddenly gone mum since the CSU released documents affirming that Tinubu was indeed a graduate of the institution.

Also, he said most of the frequently asked questions about Chicago State University have been answered by the institution through its registrar.

According to him, although the detractors are now perpetuating a spin on the facts available to discredit the truth, the release of more facts forms a better way to counter them.

He said: “Those who have been promoting the myth of Bola Tinubu as a certificate forger have faced significant disappointments with the release of President Tinubu’s academic records and the subsequent court-ordered deposition from Chicago State University’s registrar.

“In desperation, they are now perpetuating a spin on the facts. If not countered, their lies and ‘alternative facts’ will overwhelm social media and come to be accepted as the truth. As such, it is necessary to provide accurate information to Nigerians.

“What did Chicago State University, via their registrar, say about whether or not Bola Tinubu was admitted, attended and graduated from their institution? Please find their exact response to the question below:

President Tinubu applied to the university as a male and a letter of admission was issued to a male.”
