    Rep mobilises support for Tinubu

A federal lawmaker from Lagos State, Dr. Adesola Adedayo, has said the ongoing nationwide voter registration was crucial to favourable outcome in the 2027 general election.

Adedayo, who represents Apapa Constituency in the House of Representatives, tied the expected success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election project to the exercise in the state and nationally.

He appealed to chieftains of All Progressives Congress (APC) to mobilise the grassroots for the President, starting with getting those constitutionally-qualified to vote, to register.

Adedayo, a former two-term chairman of Apapa-Iganmu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), said he had been on the field with his team since the beginning of the exercise, mobilising his base and constituents to go out and register.

The first-termer at the National Assembly said his involvement with the grassroots mobilisation had shown him there were countless potential Tinubu voters in the state, who just needed to be guided through the process of being able to vote in 2027.

Describing the President as a war-time leader in the mould of Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan, Julius Caesar, Saladin, Winston Churchill and Dwight D. Eisenhower, the lawmaker said besides insecurity gripping the country, which was almost at war-front proportion, the President was also fighting economic battles to rescue the commonwealth from cannibals sucking it for decades.

He appealed to Nigerians to be patient with the administration, saying at the President’s age and the quantum of material blessings he had received from God, ‘’what is paramount to him now is a legacy of service to his fatherland.’’

He assured Nigerians that President Tinubu would deliver.

Tinubu orders reduction of 2026 Hajj fare

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered an immediate reduction in the 2026 Hajj fare to reflect the recent appreciation of the naira against the dollar, a major determinant of pilgrimage costs.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, who conveyed the President’s directive on Monday during a meeting with the management and board members of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, gave the commission two days to produce a new, affordable fare structure.

According to a statement by Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima said the directive was necessary to ensure that Nigerian pilgrims benefit directly from the positive effects of the ongoing economic reforms, particularly the strengthened value of the naira.

Shettima called for closer collaboration among NAHCON, state governments, and other relevant agencies to harmonise the revised fares and ensure smooth coordination of the 2026 pilgrimage.

He also emphasised the need for prompt payments and remittances to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to guarantee a seamless Hajj operation.

Speaking with journalists after the meeting, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Senator Ibrahim Hadeija, said the meeting was convened to finalise preparations for the 2026 Hajj and review the cost structure in light of the improved exchange rate.

“Rates have continued to improve steadily with the appreciation of the naira, based on the effects of government reforms. If pilgrims paid ₦8.5 million to ₦8.6 million last year due to a weaker exchange rate, the improvement in the economy should now reflect in the new fares. The Vice President made it clear that the benefits of the stronger naira must be passed on to the pilgrims”, Hadeija explained.

In his remarks, the Secretary of NAHCON, Dr. Mustapha Mohammad, welcomed the President’s directive, saying it would make the spiritual journey more accessible to Nigerian Muslims.

“It is a welcome development. The lower the Hajj fare, the better for Muslim faithful intending to perform Hajj. As directed by the Vice President, we will work tirelessly between today and tomorrow to reduce the cost to the barest minimum and make it affordable for every Muslim,” he said.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Kebbi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board and Deputy Chairman of the Forum of Chief Executives of Pilgrims Boards, Alhaji Faruk Aliyu Yaro, commended the President and Vice President for their intervention.

“We are very happy because the President and the Vice President have already intervened. We thank God for what they have done, which will bring down the cost of Hajj fare. We are delighted”, Yaro said.

Rep hails Tinubu for approving forest security guard

A member of the House of Representatives, Olusola Fatoba, has applauded President Bola Tinubu for approving the establishment of the Forest Security Service, describing it as a bold step toward strengthening national security, revitalizing agriculture, and protecting rural communities across the country.

Speaking on Thursday in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti state capital, Fatoba, said the creation of the forest security guard was necessary following the incessant cases of attacks on farmers, kidnappings, and infiltration of Nigeria’s forests by criminal elements who use them as operational bases.

The chairman of the House Committee on Information, National Orientation, Ethics and Values, noted that the security outfit would help address the country’s growing security challenges, particularly those affecting farmlands and forest areas.

Fatoba added that the newly established forest guard would not only safeguard the lives and property of Nigerians but also empower the farmers to return to their farmlands without fear, a development he said would restore confidence in agricultural production and help stabilize the nation’s food supply chain.

He expressed optimism that the initiative would create employment opportunities at the grassroots level and increase food production for both local consumption and export.

The lawmaker, representing Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II, called on the 36 state governors to promptly key into the federal government’s initiative by giving full support and cooperation to ensure its successful implementation in their respective states.

He emphasized that strong collaboration between federal and state governments would help reclaim the forests that have long been hideouts for kidnappers and terrorists and transform them once again into safe zones for productive activities such as farming, ranching, and tourism.

He said, “I wish to sincerely appreciate the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his visionary leadership and approval for the establishment of the Nigeria Forest Security Services.

“This bold and timely initiative is a significant step towards addressing the pressing challenges of insecurity, especially in our rural and agrarian communities.”

“At a time when insecurity has deterred many from engaging in farming and discouraged foreign investment, this move will not only boost food security but also strengthen our economy through agriculture and non-oil financial inflows.

“It sends a strong signal to both citizens and the international community that Nigeria is committed to creating a safe and enabling environment for investment and growth,” he added.

Tinubu celebrates Alake at 69, describes him as loyal ally, patriot

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Minister of Solid Minerals, Dr Dele Alake, on his 69th birthday, describing him as a dependable ally, consummate strategist, and a loyal patriot whose contributions to national development span decades.

In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu extolled Dr Alake’s long-standing record of excellence in journalism, public service, and strategic communication.

The President said the Minister remains one of the most accomplished professionals of his generation, noting their long years of friendship and partnership anchored on shared values of service, integrity, and commitment to Nigeria’s progress.

“Dr Dele Alake has remained a committed, loyal, and outstanding ally for several decades. His steadfastness and unyielding commitment to national development and progress stand him out as a patriot,” the President said.

Tinubu also commended the Minister’s ongoing efforts to reposition the solid minerals sector as a major revenue earner for the country.

He said Alake’s reforms — including investment promotion, policy innovation, and the integration of artisanal miners into the formal economy — align with the goals of the Renewed Hope Agenda.

“On this special day, I pray that Almighty God will continue to bless Dele with good health, wisdom, and strength,” President Tinubu added.

Dr Alake, a veteran journalist and former Commissioner for Information and Strategy in Lagos State, has been a long-time associate of President Tinubu since the 1990s and currently leads the administration’s drive to harness Nigeria’s mineral wealth for sustainable development.

  • Thousands protest in Kaduna, urge Tinubu to crush saboteurs undermining local refining

Thousands protest in Kaduna, urge Tinubu to crush saboteurs undermining local refining

Thousands of Nigerians under the banner of Partners for National Economic Progress (PANEP) on Monday shut down Kaduna city in a massive protest, urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take decisive action against those sabotaging efforts to achieve local refining of petroleum products.

The protesters, who gathered at Murtala Mohammed Square before marching through major streets, accused a powerful oil cartel of frustrating Nigeria’s economic progress by undermining local refinery initiatives, particularly the operations of the Dangote Refinery.

Chanting solidarity songs and carrying placards with inscriptions such as “Support Local Refining,” “Crush Economic Saboteurs,” and “Protect Dangote Refinery,” the demonstrators said their struggle was aimed at freeing Nigeria from decades of economic manipulation.

Two leaders of the group, Comrade Igwe Ude-Umanta and Comrade Dahiru Umar Maishanu, said the call on President Tinubu was necessary to rescue the nation from a cartel that profits from importation and artificial fuel scarcity at the expense of national development.

“This is not about Dangote alone; it’s about Nigeria’s economic survival,” Ude-Umanta declared. “Mr. President must rise to the occasion and stamp his feet. He must crush those sabotaging our march toward self-reliance in refining.”

According to him, the protest — themed “National Unity Against Sabotage: Reclaiming Our Petroleum Sector for the People” — was part of a nationwide campaign to defend local refining from “economic terrorists” determined to keep Nigeria dependent on fuel importation.

Ude-Umanta also accused some oil unions and importers of colluding with foreign interests to frustrate the Dangote Refinery project, warning that failure to act decisively could discourage future investors.

“If they succeed in killing the Dangote Refinery, no investor will ever bring money here again,” he warned.

He further described the recent actions of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) as “economic terrorism,” alleging that the union’s disruption of refinery operations was part of a larger plot to destabilise Nigeria’s push for local refining.

“What PENGASSAN did was not unionism—it was sabotage,” he said. “The Federal Government should have arrested their leadership to deter others. No one should hide under the guise of labour activism to commit crimes against the economy.”

He urged President Tinubu, who also serves as Minister of Petroleum Resources, to ensure that local refineries such as Dangote’s are given crude oil at the same price sold to foreign refineries to sustain their operations and boost investor confidence.

On his part, Maishanu said the protest was a patriotic call to end decades of economic enslavement. “How can importers compete with producers? They are scared because local refining will expose their fraud and end their control over fuel pricing,” he said.

He alleged that the cartel was deliberately blocking the sale of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and Aviation Turbine Kerosene (Jet A1) from local producers to maintain inflated market prices. “They are punishing Nigerians to protect their greed,” he added.

The group commended Dangote Refinery for its impact on the domestic fuel market, noting that prices of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) and Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) have already begun to drop. “Nigerians are beginning to breathe fresh air from this refining revolution,” Maishanu said.

He urged the President to remain firm in his economic reform agenda, saying the refinery’s success was a test of his commitment to national industrial revival. “This is the time to prove that local investors matter,” he stressed.

The rally, which ended peacefully, echoed with chants of “Long live Dangote Refinery! Long live Nigeria!” as protesters vowed continued nationwide mobilisation until, in their words, “every saboteur of Nigeria’s economic progress is crushed.”

Tinubu returns to Abuja after 10-day working visit to Lagos

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will today (Monday) return to Abuja after a 10-day working visit to Lagos where he engaged with investors, industry leaders, and national stakeholders on key economic and governance matters.

According to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Mr Bayo Onanuga, the President arrived in Lagos on September 26 after attending the coronation of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, in Ibadan.

While in Lagos, President Tinubu met with major investors including Mr. Bayo Ogunlesi, Chief Executive Officer of Global Infrastructure Partners, and Mr. Hakeem Belo-Osagie, former Chairman of United Bank for Africa and Etisalat, and now Chairman of Metis Capital Partners.

The discussions, according to the Presidency, focused on deepening private sector partnerships and boosting investor confidence in Nigeria’s economy.

He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to position the maritime industry as a viable alternative source of national revenue beyond fossil energy.

On the eve of Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary, President Tinubu travelled to Imo State, where he commissioned several projects executed by Governor Hope Uzodimma and unveiled a book authored by the governor, chronicling ten years of All Progressives Congress (APC) governance in Nigeria.

He delivered his Independence Day national broadcast from the State House, Dodan Barracks, in Lagos, urging Nigerians to speak positively about their country and remain united in hope.

Later that day, he commissioned the newly renovated National Theatre, now renamed the Wole Soyinka Centre for Culture and the Creative Arts.

On Saturday, October 4, the President visited Jos, Plateau State to attend the burial of Mama Lydia Yilwatda, mother of the APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda.

I’ve not heard Tinubu complain about challenges he inherited, says Mohammed

The United Nations (UN) Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed, has said she has not heard President Bola Ahmed Tinubu complain about the challenges he inherited from his predecessor since he assumed office as President.

Mohammed said this at an award dinner at Nigeria House in New York to celebrate Nigeria’s 65th independence anniversary and the Independence Day Parade and Carnival.

The UN deputy chief said President Tinubu “fought hard to get to that seat”, even though he said “it was his turn”.

She added: “But he also told us that he wasn’t going to complain about what he got. I have not heard him complain.

“People around him complain about what he inherited, but he doesn’t.”

Mohammed stressed that Tinubu “is the President of Nigeria. It is God that put him on that seat. It is, therefore, incumbent upon us to get behind him and do the best we can for Nigeria, except you’re trying to tell me that God made a mistake”.

The UN deputy secretary-general congratulated Nigeria and Nigerians on the nation’s attainment of its 65th independence anniversary.

She expressed the confidence that the future is bright for the country.

“We are a work in progress, and we are 65 years old as a country.

“However, unless you are part of building a nation, no one else is going to do it for you.

“It doesn’t matter whether you are in the country or outside the country,” Mohammed said.

She called for concerted efforts to build the country and not pull it down, saying: “If we get into the pull-down syndrome, then who else is going to pull us up?

“What else are we telling our children? What else are we telling people that we want as our partners?

“If we are the first people to say that we’re no good, we’re not good enough, and I hope that we just stop doing that.

“This is because Nigerians are the hardest working, most ambitious, and proud people.”

  • Tinubu, PDP hail Okpebholo’s road infrastructural revolution

Tinubu, PDP hail Okpebholo’s road infrastructural revolution

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has lauded the infrastructural strides of Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo, particularly the ongoing building of the state’s first-ever flyover.

He described it as a landmark intervention in easing urban traffic and modernising Edo’s transport system.

The President extolled the governor’s foresight in embarking on the one-kilometre flyover project at Ikpoba Hill in Ikpoba Okha Local Government, noting that its completion would transform vehicular movement and strengthen the urban fabric of Benin City.

Tinubu praised Okpebholo’s early performance in office, affirming that the governor had set a new standard of governance in Edo.

The President, represented by the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, said the governor’s bold approach to road and bridge construction in the state underscored the All Progressives Congress’ (APC’s) progressive agenda.

“This is a 24-span structure, each span measuring 20 metres, amounting to a one-kilometre bridge. The quality and pace of work are impressive. Edo is witnessing a first, and I believe more of such projects should follow in Benin City to address the heavy traffic,” Umahi said on behalf of the President.

He contrasted the efficiency of state-driven projects with some federal contracts, lamenting that contractors often displayed greater discipline when working under governors than when handling federal assignments.

He pledged to enforce stricter accountability standards at the federal level, to ensure value for money and timely delivery.

“I commend Governor Okpebholo for insisting on concrete technology. Roads built with reinforced concrete last 50 to 100 years, saving scarce resources. Nigeria cannot continue to spend on recurring reconstruction. We must invest in durability,” Umahi stressed.

Describing Okpebholo as “a man of courage, destiny and vision,” the President lauded the governor’s interventions on federal road corridors in the state.

He said such leadership reflected not only political will, but also a deep commitment to the welfare of the people.

Governor Okpebholo, visibly elated, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his support to Edo State, crediting the President’s encouragement as a key factor behind his administration’s early successes.

“We are succeeding because of the President’s backing. His DNA of progressive leadership flows in us. I cannot sleep without thinking of what to do for my people. We will continue to embark on projects that directly improve the lives of Edo people,” the governor said.

He admitted that Edo’s infrastructure had suffered years of neglect, with many roads washed away and institutions weakened. He, however, pledged to rebuild with renewed zeal, assembling teams with the knowledge and dedication to restore Edo’s pride.

In a rare bipartisan endorsement, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Segun Sowunmi, also commended the governor’s performance, noting that transformative governance transcended party lines.

“When Edo people are happy, Nigerians are happy. Development must proceed state by state to truly reform the country,” he said.

  • ‘Transport industry experiencing positive changes under Tinubu administration’

‘Transport industry experiencing positive changes under Tinubu administration’

A global ride-hailing service, XpressRide, has applauded President Bola Tinubu for his bold leadership and reforms, particularly in the transport and mobility ecosystem.

Executive Director of the organisation, Ismaila Atus, in a statement on Sunday, said the transport industry has begun to experience positive changes under the Tinubu administration.

He cited the expansion of rail infrastructure and rehabilitation of federal highways to renewed policies that encourage private sector participation in mobility and logistics services.

“At no time in recent years have we seen such deliberate efforts to modernise Nigeria’s transport system. The revival of critical rail corridors, renewed investments in interstate road networks, and policies that support tech-driven mobility solutions like ride-hailing are transforming the way people and goods move across the country,” Atus said.

He noted that improved transportation networks are already boosting economic activities, connecting rural and urban communities, reducing travel times, and attracting new investments into logistics and passenger mobility services.

“At the heart of any thriving economy is a reliable transport system. President Tinubu understands this and is making transportation the backbone of national growth,” he added.

Atus further said Tinubu’s leadership has not only rekindled hope in the anti-corruption fight but has also set Nigeria on a new path of security, economic recovery, agricultural expansion, and social development.

According to him, the President’s policies are already yielding results across several sectors, restoring public confidence in governance and strengthening Nigeria’s democratic institutions.

“President Tinubu’s leadership has gone beyond tackling corruption. We are witnessing deliberate, structured interventions in virtually every sector, from national security and food security to healthcare, education, and job creation. This is the kind of comprehensive governance Nigeria has long needed,” Atus said.

He commended the administration’s efforts in strengthening national security through improved funding for the armed forces, enhanced intelligence coordination, and renewed collaboration with regional partners to combat terrorism, banditry, and other threats.

According to him, for the first time in over a decade, communities in the North-East, North-West, and North-Central are beginning to see sustainable peace, with farmers returning to their lands, schools reopening, and displaced persons regaining their lives.

Atus also hailed the government’s focus on agriculture, citing initiatives like the National Agricultural Development Fund, fertiliser subsidy programmes, and the Presidential Food Security Emergency Plan, which he said are stabilising food prices and boosting domestic production.

“These interventions are laying the foundation for self-sufficiency and food security. The renewed focus on supporting smallholder farmers and commercial agriculture will transform rural economies and create millions of jobs,” he stated.

He further praised reforms in the health sector, including increased budgetary allocations, the ongoing construction and renovation of primary healthcare centres, and expanded immunisation programmes, saying these efforts are improving healthcare access and outcomes, particularly for women and children in underserved areas.

Atus also commended social intervention policies such as the student loan scheme, youth empowerment initiatives, and the credit guarantee system for small businesses, describing them as weapons against poverty and inequality.

“These programmes are not just economic tools; they are empowering Nigerians to live with dignity. They address the root causes of corruption and insecurity — unemployment, lack of opportunity, and systemic exclusion,” he noted.

He called on Nigerians to support the administration’s reform agenda and remain united in the pursuit of a better future for the country.

“No government can achieve transformation alone. It requires collective effort from civil society to traditional leaders, from the media to the ordinary citizen. Together, we can build the Nigeria of our dreams,” he added.
