President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured that his administration is committed to making the Southeast great again.

The President who was conferred with the traditional title of Udo Kpu Enyị 1 of Abia, by the leadership of the Abia State Traditional Rulers Council for what he is doing in the state, the Southeast and the country, stated this yesterday  during a state visit to Abia State.

Tinubu spoke  at the Enyimba International Stadium, Aba, the commercial nerve centre of the state during a civic reception organised in his honour by the state government.

The President, represented by the Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi restated the commitment of his administration in helping the sub-nationals to be viable.

He listed some of the projects he has done in the Southeast, including ensuring the completion of the ongoing reconstruction of the Enugu-Umuahia-Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway, among others, as part of the federal government’s intervention in opening up development and boosting economic activities in the region.

The President who noted that Abia among other states has gained so much from the removal of oil subsidy, noted that Aba was regaining its lost glory through the impact of the leadership of the state governor, adding that Abia remains important in the economic development of the country.

The President stated that the economy of the country is gaining momentum under his watch with the increase in the Gross Domestic Products (GDP) and decrease in inflation rate,  affirming that the worst economic situation of the country is over.

He promised to help Abians to take back their state, thanking the  Southeast governors for their unity in supporting his administration.

Speaking,  the Senator representing Abia South Senatorial District, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe thanked Mr. President for his numerous interventions in the region, and begged for the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

On his part, the Deputy Speaker House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu in his speech appealed to the President for the establishment of a seaport in the Southeast to further enhance business and economic activities in the region.

Kalu who commended Gov. Otti for the job he has done in the state, however, asked that the governor should do more.

The Deputy Speaker also frowned at the attitude of many state governors who refuse to give credit to President Tinubu for providing the resources that they are using to execute majority of the projects that they (govs) are carrying out in their states, adding that if the President didn’t make such funds available for the governors, they may be struggling to govern their states.

He also frowned at the recent demolition of shops and buildings of some Nigerians and Igbos in Lagos State by the Lagos State government.

He further called for dialogue and regularisation of house or property documents by the state government, rather than the continued demolition of such properties.

In his speech, the host governor, Alex Otti while thanking the President for honouring the invitation to commission some of the state and federal government’s projects in the state commended President Tinubu over the developments that have been recorded under his administration, including some of the economic development agenda (removal of fuel subsidy, and among other harmonization policies) that have positively impacted the economy of the country.

Otti equally thanked the President for giving Abians the opportunity to serve in his government and begged for a functional Southeast and South-south rail line and sea ports to boost trade in the region.

Otti, who thanked the President over his interest in the peace and security of the state, disclosed that he and other Southeast governors were equally in close discussion with the President on the release of the detained leader of IPOB.

Some of the projects commissioned by President Tinubu during the visit include 6.7km Port Harcourt Road (dual carriage road of 3 lanes each with drainage), Ohanku Road, Ndoki Road, Ajiwe Street, Umuatako Road, Chief Nkoro Street and Spurs, Abayi, Aba and Gabriel Nwosu Street respectively.

  • 2027: Tinubu should return to sustain economy recovery trajectory, policy continuity – Reps member, GNI

2027: Tinubu should return to sustain economy recovery trajectory, policy continuity – Reps member, GNI

A member of the House of Representatives, Prince Gboyega Nasiru Isiaka (GNI), has said that despite all the daunting odds, the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done well to reposition the nation’s economy to the path of recovery and progress.

‎‎Isiaka who revealed that he agreed 100 percent with the government when it declared recently that “the economy has turned the corner,” said President Tinubu ‎should come back for the second term in 2027 so that the good things being championed by the administration could be completed.

‎‎‎The lawmaker from Ogun State representing the Yewa North and Imeko – Afon Federal Constituency in the 10th National Assembly recalled that in the last two years inflation, interest rate, foreign reserve issues and instability in exchange rate were some of the things bedeviling the country but said as of today, they have all been taken care through audacious policy reforms.

‎‎He stated this yesterday in Abeokuta, the state capital, while speaking with newsmen, shortly appearing as a guest speaker at the monthly Business meeting of the Nigeria Institute Public Relations (NIPR), Ogun State chapter.

‎‎He also scored the present administration at the centre high in the areas of policy continuity, especially the project 2050 of Nigeria which it inherited from the immediate past administration.

‎‎”For instance, this is the first time we are going to have perspective planning for about 30 years. We have never had that type of thing before that we have in the 2020 plan.  Good enough, this government is continuing it, so we are getting there.

‎‎”This government has done well.  I have said that the project 2050 of Nigeria that we have, was done in 2020 by the last administration and it is now further broken down into a five – year plan.  The first one is from 2021 to 2025. That is ending by this year. The second one is 2026 – 2031. This government has latched into that.  That is going to become effective next year with some changes because of the parameters that have changed.

‎‎”The exchange rate at that time is not the exchange rate now. Subsidy was available then but it is not there now. So, there may be little amendments but the entire thing is taking up from there.

‎‎”So, I think this Government has done well for this kind of continuity that we have. Another government could have said ‘I don’t have any business to do with project 2050’ and go start something else.  That has not happened. That is why when the government said the economy has turned the corner, I said ‘I hundred percent agreed with that.’

‎‎”One of the things that have been bedeviling us in the last two years include inflation, interest rate, foreign reserve and instability in exchange rate.  All of those ones have been taken care of as we speak.

‎‎”A lot of measures have been introduced to alleviate challenges. The student loan funds have been put in place to alleviate the suffering of the vulnerable in the society so that while we are waiting for those big plans to come into force at least we also take care of the vulnerable and weak among us.

‎‎”For me, I believe that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu should come back for the second term so that some of these good things can be completed.”

‎‎Speaking earlier on the NIPR business meeting with the theme: ‘Nigeria at 65: Pathways for National Development and Economic Sustainability,’ he said despite daunting challenges, Nigeria has recorded tangible progress since independence in areas of education, stable democratic rule, improved revenue from non – oil export, digital economy among others.

‎‎The lawmaker however said that the nation still has a long way to go to catch up with countries like Singapore and Malaysia that were at par with Nigeria at some stage and identified leadership and followership challenges, policy in consistency, poor population census data, lack of continuity of programme due to change in government as some of the factors stymieing the nation’s efforts at realising her true potentials 65 years after.

In her address earlier, the Ogun NIPR chairperson, Mrs Oluwaseun Boye, emphasized the place of public relations in shaping narratives that build trust, promote unity and inspire collective action for national development.

Mrs Boye said that Nigeria’s greatness lies in the commitment of the citizens and urged all hands to be on deck for a stronger and more prosperous Nigeria to emerge.

    ‎public relations professionals,

“Our role as public relations professionals is to shape narratives that build trust, promote unity, and inspire collective action. We must use our platforms to bridge divides, amplify truth, and galvanize every stakeholder toward nation-building.

‎‎”Nigeria’s greatness lies in the commitment of its people. If truly all hands are on deck, then a stronger, more prosperous Nigeria is not just possible  it is inevitable, so I charge you all to join hands together to achieve a Nigeria of our dreams that we can all be proud of.

‎”‎It reminds us that the task of nation-building requires fresh thinking, renewed commitment, and deliberate actions from every sector , including public relations,” she said.

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, High Chief Olanrewaju Bashorun has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-injecting life into a once comatose Nigerian economy.

Seriki Bashorun, a.k.a Larry Bash, speaking while hosting an Independence Day Roundtable tagged, ‘Breaking Barriers and Unlocking Opportunities for Ado-Odo Ota Federal Constituency,” held in Sango-Ota on October 1, 2025, said he was quite impressed by the manner the president has gone about fixing an economy that was once on the verge of collapse prior to his emergence.

“There is no gainsaying the fact that the Nigerian economy is crawling its way back to full health from what I have observed,” Bashorun said.

Adding that “This, I can attribute to the fact that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was bold enough to embark on reforms that has  helped to steer the economy back on to the path of sustainable growth.

He used the occasion to officially announce his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives from the Ado-Odo Ota Federal Constituency in 2027, saying he had what it took to deliver the goods to an area that has remained largely under-developed despite it’s embarrassing wealth of human and natural resources.

He said, if given the people’s mandate on the platform of APC, he would do things differently and offer sound leadership that would enhance the quality of lives of the people in the constituency.

“I am also using this opportunity to announce my intention to contest for the Ado-Odo Ota Federal Constituency seat at the National Assembly come 2027. Decades of delivering people-oriented leadership as a private individual without any public funds has adequately prepared me for the office I seek,” he said.

“I promise our people an enhanced quality of life if they give me their mandate. I assure them that their most pressing needs in the area of adequate infrastructure, empowerment and welfare will be promptly and fully addressed,” he added.

The event drew representatives from youth groups, the elderly, students, politicians and the media.

  • Why unseating Tinubu will be uphill task for Atiku, El-Rufai, others

Why unseating Tinubu will be uphill task for Atiku, El-Rufai, others

Saying that the opposition is living in awe of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s firm foothold on the nation’s political terrain is an understatement. More correctly, the President’s popularity is a nightmare for the likes of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai and other opposition politicians whose mission is to unseat him in the 2027 elections.

But the harder they try, the more it is looking like unseating Tinubu in 2027 is a mission impossible. If nothing else, the obvious disarray in the opposition camp point to the mountain they would have to climb in 2027 for their dreams to materialise. Even the coalition of anti-Tinubu forces championed by Atiku and El-Rufai is yet to find its feet while the elections approach at astonishing speed.

For the opposition elements, it is a case of the falcon not hearing the falconer as Tinubu’s influence continues to loom large in their camp. It is getting increasingly difficult, as the elections approach, to know which opposition member is truly against Tinubu as many of them are clandestinely working to ensure that he secures a second term.

It could not have been otherwise, considering how easier life has become governors under Tinubu’s leadership. Now availed with about three times the amount of money that comes to them from the federal purse on a daily basis, many of them believe of them believe they owe him a world of gratitude, and the best way they can reciprocate his gesture and sustain their new financial status is to support the President for a second term. That is particularly the case with first-term governors who are hoping for another four years after the current dispensation.

A pointer to the foregoing was the recent gale of defections by opposition governors and members of the National Assembly to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as well as a melodrama that occurred at a recent zoning consultative meeting in Lagos by southern stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) opposed to Tinubu’s reelection in 2027.

It turned out, however, that a few hours later, some PDP governors who had attended the said meeting where they also resolved to expel FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, former Benue State governor Daniel Ortom and others accused of anti-party activities, were on board an aircraft that took them to Brazil.

While their mission to the South American country remains a matter of conjecture, it nonetheless provoked curiousity in that it coincided with President Tinubu’s official visit.

  • Irabor’s book a road map to stable Nigeria – Tinubu

Irabor’s book a road map to stable Nigeria – Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu said the book “Scars: Nigeria’s Journey and the Boko Haram Conundrum,” by former Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, will provide guidance and serves as a road map for the nation to build a safer future.

Tinubu said this when his spoke as the Special Guest of Honour during the launch of the book at the Transcorp Hilton Abuja, on Friday.

Represented by the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru, Tinubu said Irabor has demonstrated that “leadership in war is not solely about firepower, but also about intellectuals”.

He said, as Theater Commander, Irabor confronted an existential threat to our national identity with the desired determination and pragmatism.

“Scars tells a story. It reminds us of pain but it also proves that survival is possible. Therefore, the scars we carry as a nation are evidence of our resilience.

“They remind us of the sacrifice of our heroes past, soldiers, displaced families, and communities,” Tinubu said.

The President emphasised that the book encourages learning from past experiences to build a safer, more stable future. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to this vision, highlighting the Renewed Hope Agenda’s goal of transforming Nigeria into a nation of peace, opportunity, and unity.

Tinubu emphasised that security is central to his vision, highlighting efforts to modernize the armed forces with cutting-edge technology and platforms.

“We are also streamlining intelligence gathering capability and deepening regional partnership to boost collective security.

“We are investing in a whole-of-society approach to security so that peace is not only won on the battlefield but sustained in daily life with participation of the citizens.

“Let all Nigerians be aware that we will not rest until we defeat all indices of insecurity,” the President said.

He praised the book as a powerful testament to the importance of ideas in addressing challenges, noting that General Irabor’s work reminds us to cherish and pursue peace, never forgetting the cost of achieving it.

“Let us use this occasion not only to acknowledge the book but also to affirm our commitment to working together toward a future where every Nigerian can live without fear, thrive in peace, and contribute to the nation’s greatness,” the President said.

Former National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno, called for a collective action against Boko Haram.

Monguno identified defective governance and impaired national cohesion as factors hampering peace in the country.

He said the struggle for power within the state, share of resource allocations and fear of domination by ethnic nationalities were making it impossible to address the issue of insecurity.

He said the challenges can be addressed through national cohesion.

“You cannot address insecurity in the absence of national cohesion. The issue of national cohesion is very important.

“You cannot legislate love, and you cannot enforce affection, it is something that must come from within,” Monguno said.

Coalition praises Tinubu’s reforms, Tunji-Ojo’s role in national transformation

Coalition of Civil Rights Organizations has hailed President Bola Tinubu for rekindling hope in the Nigerian people through purposeful leadership and the appointment of competent ministers, with particular reference to the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

The Coalition, in a statement by its leaders, Chisom Ochiaga and Obaseyi Ogunrinde, emphasised that the President’s Independence Day address resonated with Nigerians not only because of its frank assessment of the nation’s challenges but also because it showcased tangible progress already recorded in critical areas of governance.

The group described the mention of Hon. Tunji-Ojo in the President’s speech as a “classical example of what Nigeria gains when competence, dedication, and vision are placed above politics in leadership appointments.”

According to the coalition, Tinubu’s recognition of the Interior Minister’s stellar performance has further confirmed that the administration’s reformist agenda is on the right track.

“The President’s acknowledgement of Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo’s achievements in the Interior Ministry is a reflection of how the government’s bold reforms are resolving the nation’s long-standing challenges. Nigerians now see how effective governance can transform institutions once regarded as stumbling blocks,” the coalition stated.

The group cited sweeping reforms championed by the Ministry of Interior under Tunji-Ojo, including the digitization of passport application and processing systems, the drastic reduction in bureaucratic bottlenecks within immigration services, and a renewed efficiency in the handling of correctional facilities.

These reforms, it noted, have restored public confidence in the ministry and demonstrated the tangible benefits of President Tinubu’s commitment to appointing the right people into leadership positions.

The coalition further noted that Tunji-Ojo’s drive to sanitize the operations of agencies under his ministry, ensure transparency, and deploy technology in service delivery has endeared the Tinubu administration to even its staunchest critics.

“The Interior Ministry has become a model of reform, efficiency, and innovation, thanks to the leadership of Hon. Tunji-Ojo.

“This is why Nigerians from diverse backgrounds, including those once skeptical of the administration, are beginning to rally behind the President’s vision,” the coalition remarked.

Reaffirming its stance, the Coalition of Civil Rights Organizations pledged unrelenting support for the progress of Nigeria under President Tinubu.

“As far as the policies of this administration remain pro-people, we will continue to stand firmly behind President Tinubu and the reformist ministers like Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.

“His example must be replicated across other sectors to deepen the dividends of democracy,” the statement concluded.

The coalition’s endorsement reflects growing acknowledgment within civic spaces that Tinubu’s reforms, as exemplified by the Interior Ministry, are rekindling faith in governance and opening a new chapter of hope for Nigeria.

  • ‘Tinubu’s executive orders not to undermine NOGICD Act’

‘Tinubu’s executive orders not to undermine NOGICD Act’

Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has clarified that the three Executive Orders issued by President Bola Tinubu in March 2024 did not weaken or sideline the Nigerian Oil and Gas Industry Content Development (NOGICD) Act.

This assurance was given during a Local Content Masterclass and panel session at the African Energy Week in Cape Town, South Africa, where stakeholders examined Nigeria’s local content milestones, clarified misconceptions, and provided lessons for other African oil and gas-producing countries.

Panelists included NCDMB officials such as Engr. Abayomi Bamidele, Director of Capacity Building; Silas Omomehin Ajimijaye, General Manager, Monitoring and Evaluation; and Ms. Fateemah Mohammed, General Manager, Nigerian Content Development Fund (NCDF). The session was moderated by the General Manager, and Corporate Communications, Obinna Ezeobi.

Engr. Bamidele explained that some industry players had misinterpreted the Presidential Directives to mean that compliance with the NOGICD Act was no longer mandatory. He clarified that the directives simply mandated the use of existing local capacities and eliminated middlemen from the contracting process.

The three orders cover Local Content Compliance, Reduction of Petroleum Sector Contracting Costs and Timelines, and Tax Incentives for Oil and Gas Companies. To align with these directives, NCDMB streamlined its contract approval process from nine to five stages, reducing project costs and accelerating investment decisions.

Bamidele also disclosed that qualified international service companies can now obtain the Nigerian Content Equipment Certificates (NCEC) to participate in deepwater operations—an initiative expected to attract new investments. He added that NCDMB is advancing infrastructure projects such as the Brass Island Shipyard, supported by NLNG, and the Nigerian Oil and Gas Parks at Odukpani, Cross River State, and Emeyal-1, Bayelsa State.

Ajimijaye highlighted NCDMB’s robust monitoring systems that ensure compliance with the NOGICD Act. He noted that oil asset divestments have not reduced compliance levels, as indigenous operators have adopted established frameworks. He also stressed the importance of research and development, citing six Centres of Excellence in Nigerian universities and support for 15 innovative projects through the Board’s R&D Fund.

Speaking on financing, Ms. Mohammed explained that the Nigerian Content Intervention Fund provides single-digit loans to indigenous service companies. She outlined key schemes such as the ₦50 billion Community Contractors Fund, which grants up to ₦100 million to local contractors, and the $20 million Women in Oil and Gas Fund, managed by NEXIM Bank, to support women entrepreneurs.

She urged other African countries to adopt similar financing models to enhance local capacity, while reaffirming NCDMB’s commitment to expanding the Fund and partnering with financial institutions to unlock bigger projects
