2027: APC support groups pledge 10 million votes for Tinubu

The Consolidated APC Grassroots Movement (CaGram) has pledged to deliver 10 million direct grassroots votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential elections.

CaGram, an amalgam of over 70 percent of APC-registered support groups with over 1.2 million active members nationwide said each member has been mandated to mobilize at least ten grassroots votes, translating into formidable electoral bloc for President Tinubu in 2027.

The Deputy National Chairman of CaGram, Hon. Agbi Stephen Omobamidele, who is also the Special Adviser on Mobilization to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, told reporters that Tinubu’s bold economic reforms and resolute vision are key reasons why he is best positioned to guide Nigeria to prosperity.

According to him, since taking office, Tinubu’s administration has enacted significant measures such as putting an end to fuel and electricity subsidies, unifying the foreign exchange rate, and implementing fiscal and tax reforms, which have begun to stabilize the nation’s economy.

He said: “Nigeria recently recorded a balance of payments surplus of $6.8 billion, reflecting renewed investor confidence and stronger external resilience.

“Headline inflation, which had peaked above 34%, has declined sharply to about 21.8% by mid-2025, while foreign exchange reserves have risen beyond $40 billion. President Tinubu has also set an ambitious target of 7% annual economic growth by 2027, with the broader aim of quadrupling the size of Nigeria’s economy by 2030.

“These are not experiments—they are deliberate steps to restore economic sanity, boost revenues, and empower Nigerians.”

He, however, said that as grassroots mobilization intensifies, CaGram remained committed towards delivering on its pledge and ensuring that President Tinubu’s strategic and economic leadership resonates at every polling unit in 2027.

Tinubu delivered stability, peace in Rivers, Presidency tells ADC

The Presidency has dismissed criticisms by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) over President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s handling of the Rivers emergency rule, stressing that the President’s intervention delivered stability, restored democratic institutions, and returned peace to the state.

In a post on his verified X handle, @SundayDareSD, Presidential Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Chief Sunday Dare, described the ADC’s allegations of autocracy, manipulation, and undermining federalism as “laughable” and an exercise in “nuisance politics.”

Dare said the President acted constitutionally under Section 305 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), invoking emergency powers to prevent bloodshed and restore governance at a time of grave threat to law and order in Rivers State.

“The Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is clear: under Section 305, the President has the power — and the duty — to act when law and order are under grave threat.

“What the President delivered is stability, the return of democratic institutions, and peace in Rivers State. Nigerians can see the difference: President Tinubu acted right. That is what posterity will remember him for,” Dare said.

He dismissed the ADC’s claims of federal manipulation, noting that officials in Rivers were not reduced to presidential appointees but rather protected from chaos until conditions allowed for their reinstatement.

“To accuse the President of undermining federalism is laughable; as a former Governor, no Nigerian alive presently has fought harder for state autonomy than Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

“What ADC offers Nigerians is late pontification and empty noise. What the President delivered is stability, peace, and order,” Dare said.

The Presidency maintained that President Tinubu’s decision was neither whimsical nor partisan, but a constitutional necessity to protect the state and by extension, the federation.

Rights groups petition Tinubu over federal character appointment

A coalition of civil society organizations has petitioned President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to review the recent appointment of Hon. Ayo Omidiran from Osun State as the Chairman-designate of the Federal Character Commission (FCC).

In a jointly signed letter addressed to the President, the groups argued that the appointment violates the spirit of the Federal Character principle enshrined in Section 14(3) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and the Federal Character Commission Act, Cap F7, LFN 2004.

They noted that the southwest geopolitical zone is divided into three sub-pairings for purposes of federal appointments namely Oyo/Osun, Lagos/Ogun, and Ekiti/Ondo to ensure fairness and balance.

The petitioners pointed out that Prof. Tunji Olaopa from Oyo State, within the Oyo/Osun pairing, was already appointed in October 2023 as Chairman of the Federal Civil Service Commission.

They argued that appointing another chairman of a constitutional body from the same Oyo/Osun bloc leaves Lagos/Ogun and Ekiti/Ondo without any chairmanship representation at the federal executive body level.

“This imbalance, if not corrected, may foster feelings of exclusion and marginalization within the South-West zone and weaken public confidence in the equity and fairness that Your Excellency’s Renewed Hope Agenda has consistently championed,” the letter read in part.

The signatories, which include Debo Adeniran (Committee for the Defense of Human Rights), Nelson Ekujumi (Centre for Rights and Grassroots Initiative), Tola Oresanwo (Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership), and other civic leaders, appealed to the President to review the nomination of Hon. Omidiran in order to restore balance and ensure compliance with constitutional provisions.

They emphasized that a prompt correction would “further demonstrate Your Excellency’s unwavering commitment to justice, equity, and national unity.”

The Senate is yet to confirm Omidiran’s appointment, leaving the decision in the balance as the petitioners press for what they call a constitutional redress.

  • Tinubu commissions Tantita-sponsored projects at Kaduna’s Central Mosque

Tinubu commissions Tantita-sponsored projects at Kaduna’s Central Mosque

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday commissioned a set of modern facilities at the historic Sultan Bello Mosque, Kaduna, sponsored by Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited (TSSNL).

The projects include a state-of-the-art ablution centre, 50 restrooms with VIP sections, and a 300,000-litre overhead water tank to serve both worshippers and the surrounding Ungwan Sarki community.

Tinubu, who was in Kaduna for the wedding of former Zamfara Governor Abdul’Aziz Yari’s son, described the intervention as a testimony to unity and corporate social responsibility across Nigeria’s regions.

Before the intervention, the mosque relied on a small ablution facility that was grossly inadequate for the large number of worshippers, particularly during the Friday Juma’at prayers.

The new ablution centre can now serve up to 300 worshippers at the same time, while the overhead tank guarantees uninterrupted water supply for both the mosque and the host community.

Tantita Security Services, chaired by ex-militant leader Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, is primarily engaged in oil pipeline surveillance in the Niger Delta.

Explaining the scope of the project, the site engineer, Abba Mubashir, said the works were executed to the highest standards. “From the foundation to finishing, everything was fully completed. The ablution area is spacious, and the 300,000-litre tank now supplies water to the mosque and the community,” he stated.

Mubashir also disclosed that the firm extended similar gestures to other parts of Kaduna. “There is an Islamic school built in Ambushia and a Christian school in Sabo, both sponsored by Tantita, as part of its corporate social responsibility,” he added.

The Chief Ladan of Sultan Bello Mosque, Malam Abdurrahman Abdulhamid, expressed gratitude to the company for reviving and completing the stalled project.

“Alhamdulillah, this project was initially started by Mr. Jack Rich, but it was abandoned for over three to four years. Tantita came in and completed it. Now, 300 people can perform ablution at once, with 50 toilets including VIPs, and the 300,000-litre tank will serve the mosque and the community,” he said.

He prayed for God’s blessings upon Tantita and urged the company to sustain its community-driven initiatives.

Residents of Ungwan Sarki described the project as timely, noting that it has eased the pressure of water shortage in the neighbourhood.

The commissioning ceremony added colour to President Tinubu’s visit to Kaduna, further underscoring the growing role of private sector actors in bridging infrastructure gaps across the country.
