    VeryDarkMan slams Obi Cubana over call to respect elders online

    Controversial critic Verydarkman has responded to Obi Cubana’s call for blogs to stop posting content that shows youths disrespecting elders.

    Verydarkman accused Obi Cubana of being uncomfortable with his criticisms because they expose the wrongdoing of people like him.

    He criticised Obi Cubana for spending money on lavish things while failing to speak out on important issues affecting the youth.

    Verydarkman stated that in his region, people don’t worship money, and he questioned Obi Cubana’s priorities, suggesting that he should focus on supporting the youth rather than trying to silence critics like himself.

    He said: “The only reason why you people are angry is because this is the only person that can scatter a lot of evil things in you people’s faces. The youths dey cry since them never hear your voice for one day for one important thing na to carry money dey spray up and down dey use am dey buy people conscience. The youths are looking for employment in Nigeria you dey carry alcohol come Nigeria come drop for them. We don’t worship money my brother man as una wan dey chuk mouth for wetin no concern una.”

    BREAKING: VeryDarkMan regains freedom

    A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to social media influencer and blogger, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman.

    Otse, who spent almost three weeks in detention, was released from police custody after satisfying his bail condition on Monday.

    However, the details of the bail condition were still sketchy at the time of filing this report.

    A viral video on X shows VeryDarkMan walking into his fans after he was set free.

    Also, popular Nigerian blogger Tunde Ednut confirmed his release in an Instagram post.

    He wrote: “THIS MORNING: VeryDarkMan seen in court this morning. Bail has been granted to him, and arrangements are currently being made. He will be home once he finishes that.”

    The Nation reported that the Federal High Court in Abuja remanded activist Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, on charges of cybercrime on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.

    The police charge sheets revealed that VeryDarkMan faced five counts related to cyberstalking.

    One of the charges alleged that he posted videos on his Instagram account, ‘VeryDarkBlackman,’ containing information that was “grossly offensive, pornographic, or of an indecent, obscene, or menacing nature.”

    Alleged cybercrime: Court remands blogger Verydarkman in police custody

    A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of a blogger, Martins Vincent Otse, also known as Verydarkman in police custody.

    Justice Mobolaji Olajuwon issued the order on Wednesday, May 22, after Otse pleaded not guilty to a five-count charge bordering on cybercrime, brought against him Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

    The police, in one of the counts in the charge, accused Otse of posting videos on his Instagram handle ‘verydarkblackman,’ containing information that was “grossly offensive, pornographic or of an indecent, obscene or menacing character.”

    Accident to the police, Otse claimed that one Iyabo Ojo was having an indecent sexual relationship with her daughter, even though he knew that the information in the video he posted on Instagram was false.

    The police also stated that Otse, in another video he shared on social media, falsely published that an actress, Tonto Dike, was accused of criminal conversion of the proceeds of crowdfunding for #JusticeforMohbadMovement, and equally alleged that she was the person behind a controversial gossip blog, Gistlover.

    It added that Otse made the publication “for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience, danger, obstruction, insult, injury, criminal intimidation, enmity, hatred, ill will or needless anxiety to the person of the said King Tonto Dike.”

    The police further alleged that, in another video, Otse posted on social media, falsely alleged that top police officers and Senators were having a sexual relationship with a now convicted male cross-dresser, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.

    According to the police, Otse added that Bobrisky was pimping young boys for Senators and senior police officers to sleep with, which statement he “made for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience, danger, insult, injury.”

    Otse was said to have, by his actions, committed the offence of Cyberstalking, contrary to and punishable under section 24 (1)(b) of the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) ACT, 2015.

    Shortly after Otse pleaded not guilty to the charge, the prosecuting lawyer applied that the defendant be remanded in prison pending trial.

    Defence lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, urged the court to release him on bail, pending trial.

    The defence lawyer argued that the offences charged are bailable.

    Adeyanju added that his client ought to enjoy his right of presumption of innocence as guaranteed by the Constitution

    Justice Olajuwon however ordered that the defendant be kept in police custody pending when the prosecution will respond to the bail application filed by the defendant.

    She adjourned till May 29 for a hearing of the bail application.

    The Federal High Court in Abuja has remanded controversial social media critic, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as Verydarkman in police custody.

    Verydarkman was reportedly arraigned on Wednesday for cyberbullying involving Nollywood actresses Iyabo Ojo and Tonto Dike, to which he pleaded not guilty.

    The Nation learnt he will remain in custody until Wednesday, May 29, which is the next hearing.

    His lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, applied for bail, but the prosecutor asked for more time to respond, leading the court to adjourn the bail hearing to May 29.

    After his release from police custody on Sunday, VDM vowed that he would not relent until Bobrisky is incarcerated for his transgender lifestyle.

    He further threatened the police would become a cross-dresser if Bobrisky is not arrested within a week.  

    VDM asserted that Bobrisky is making a mockery of womanhood as what makes a woman is not through words of declaration.

    Controversial social media critic, Martins Vincent Otse popularly called Verydarkman has regained freedom from police custody in Abuja

    The Abuja-based rights activist and lawyer, Deji Adeyanju confirmed his release on Sunday.

    The 27-year-old Nigerian known for delving into all things controversial, has been in the eye of the storm in the past few days.

    Otse was remanded in police custody for days for alleged cyberbullying according to former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore. 

    Displeased with the arrest, Sowore noted that the police were hiding under the Cybercrime Act to detain Otse.

    Confirming his release on Sunday, March 31, Adeyanju tweeted: “After 5 days of back and forth, we have secured VDM’s release. Thank you to everyone that made this happen especially, SOWORE, Kefiano & VDM’s wonderful lawyers.”

    Controversial media personality Blessing CEO has appealed to actress Tonto Dikeh on the recent arrest of popular activist, VeryDarkMan.

    It was reported that the actress allegedly arrested the socialite for harassment and threat to life.

    VDM had accused the actress of being the owner of a popular blog, which resulted in multiple death threats from detractors.

    She reportedly got him detained for false allegations.

    VeryDarkman, who was expected to be released from custody on Monday, was granted a strict bail condition that made his bail difficult.

    To be released from custody, he was told to provide N200 million surety with an international passport valid for a year and property and company ownership in Abuja with a government stamp of swearing.

    Reacting to his bail condition, the self-acclaimed relationship expert acknowledged that it is difficult as she begged the actress to forgive him, pointing out that he did not kill anyone.

    “Ha this bail condition hard oooo. Abeg oooooo forgive am him no kee person,” she wrote.

    Popular blogger, Tunde Ednut has spoken about the reported arrest of his ally, Verydarkman, revealing what will happen to him after he comes out of police detention.

    The Nation reported that the controversial activist is in a police cell after being arrested for reportedly cyberbullying actress, Tonto Dikeh.

    Following his arrest, Tunde noted that Verydarkman would gain more popularity when he finally regains his freedom, while suggesting that the same pattern could be seen of other people who had once been held by police.
