Wande Coal ties knot in closed ceremony

Black Diamond Music act Oluwatobi ‘ Wande Coal ‘ Ojosipe has performed traditional marriage rites as he tied the nuptial knot with his heartthrob, Chinemerem, on Saturday, November 18, 2017. The traditional ceremony was reportedly attended by only close friends and family members of the couple at the residence of the bride’s parents in Lagos.

Chinemerem who is from the Eastern part of Nigeria is said to have courted the ‘Iskaba’ crooner for at least four years; a relationship kept very quiet to avoid the prying eyes of paparazzis.

A source who is also a close family friend of the bride described the pair as ‘extremely suited pieces of a bigger puzzle’. The couple have allegedly slated the Church wedding for a 2018 date which may be made known to the public but will also be attended strictly by invitation.

Wande Coal seemingly tows the path of his former fellow label mate, D’banj who also in 2016 got married far away from the public eye.

  • Reviewing D’Banj’s ‘It’s Not A Lie’

    Reviewing D’Banj’s ‘It’s Not A Lie’

    • ft. Wande Coal and Harrysong [New Song]

Why many people see the new single by Eja Nla as a grand entry to silence his numerous critics; D’Banj’s musical prowess might be dwindling or be on a rocket down decline. His opening verse almost cost the Afrocentric percussion of this song and the lovely hook of Harry Songs, the reggae blues crooner.

It’s Not A Lie could have well been interpreted as an endorsement song, or a beg for endorsement. With Harry songs continual hook of “Everybody Google DBanj,” you might want to check his network whether his cash flow has begun to depreciate slowly.

If I were the Producer, I would cut D’Banj’s opening verse out of the song and beg him to sing only the chorus like DJ Spinall ft Eazi on “Ohema” or DJ Khaled and co. on “I’m the one.”

I feel D’Banj’s self-acclaimed nickname as an entertainer should be passed on to Harry songs. Baba should go and retire.

Great vocals but if not for the earlier comments saying the song is worth listening to while surfing the net, I wouldn’t have listened beyond the first few seconds. Harry is a song saver, Wande tried but I agree that Harry killed it…softly.

Take this as an aside, Wande Coal’s cool punch line further amplifies the fear that D’Banj’s reason for singing this song may just be for the fund and a comeback to lost form.

“They say the money burn, but na we burn am o!”

The money might just be imagery for dwindling networths, hopefully, they have been able to raise investors with this song!

The future of Nigerian music is actually in shambles. Not saying there isn’t good music flowing around but there is more obscenity served, as well as heavy bragging, and overt commercialization of the feminine body parts.

I will rate “It’s Not A Lie” a 6/10. It could have done better if D’Banj wasn’t there, or if he sang the chorus with his harmonica. It could have gotten an 8. Since the beat is Afrocentric danceable pop; it wins the spot on my playlist for this week.

Till then, D’Banj should work on his vocals and plan a bigger comeback to Nigeria’s entertainment scene.

How Pop, R&B artistes rank on social media

The impact of Social media on the Entertainment industry in Nigeria cannot be overemphasized, given that entertainers (Musical Artistes) were among the first Nigerians who embraced the new media and have remained on top of the list of users in Nigeria and across the world.

Some started earlier and still struggling to gain much followership, depending on how soon such an artiste understood the tricks of each social media platform and apply same in order to connect with fans.

However, some other artistes came on much later and are doing very fine with a good number of followers on these platforms.

No doubt, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram are very important platforms that have been engaged by these Celebrities to carry their fans along.
