    Wizkid’s ‘Morayo’ debuts at 98 on Billboard 200

    Popular singer, Wizkid’s latest album, “Morayo”, has made a debut at number 98 on the Billboard 200 chart, selling an impressive 13,000 units in its first week.

    This feat was announced by Chart Data via X on Monday.

    “Morayo”, released on November 22nd, is a heartfelt tribute to his late mother, Jane Dolapo Balogun, who passed away in August 2023.

    The album features a diverse range of tracks, including “Troubled Mind”, “Karamo”, “Kese (Dance)”, “Bad Girl”, “Time”, “Piece of My Heart”, “Break Me Down”, “Bend”, and “A Million Blessings”. Other tracks include “Après Minuit”, “Bad for You”, “Soji”, “Don’t Care”, “Slow”, “Lose”, and “Pray”.

    Wizkid collaborated with talented artists like Asake, Brent Faiyaz, Jazmine Sullivan, Anaïs, and Tiakola on the album.

    Recall his 2020 hit album “Made in Lagos” recently became the most-streamed Nigerian album on Apple Music, and it also earned RIAA gold certification in 2022 after selling over 500,000 copies in the United States.

    Ace Nigerian artist, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has set a new Spotify record for the biggest streams by any song.

    The superstar’s recently released album titled “Morayo” has claimed the number 1 spot on the Apple Music Nigeria Chart, with all his tracks dominating the charts to positions.

    One of his singles from the album titled “Kese (Dance)” set the record for the highest opening day stream on Spotify Nigeria with 1.5 million streams.

    Another single “Piece of My Heart” also surpass 1 million opening day streams on Spotify.

    The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Wizkid’s album, Morayo, which translates to “I see joy” in Yoruba, is a heart felt tribute to his late mother, Juliana Balogun, who passed away in August 2023.

    The album, which was launched on the Nov. 22, features tasteful selection of artistes across genres.

    The album was preceded by two singles, “Piece of My Heart” featuring Brent Faiyaz and “Kese (Dance)”, both of which shattered Spotify Nigeria’s streaming records for highest opening day streams.

    “Kese” accumulated an impressive 1.5 million streams, surpassing the previous record of 1.016M held by “Piece of My Heart”.

    He now occupies the top four spots on the list of top 10 songs with the biggest first-day streams on Spotify Nigeria.

    Produced by P2J, the song comes after his successful collaboration with American RnB vocalist Brent Faiyaz on the single ‘Piece of My Heart’.

    Wizkid’s ‘Piece of My Heart’ hits 1m daily stream on Spotify 

    Grammy-winning singer Wizkid has broken a record on Spotify as his latest single, “Piece of My Heart,” featuring Brent Faiyaz, achieved the biggest streaming day on the platform.

    His new release became the first to reach 1 million streams in one day.

    This milestone propelled Nigeria to become the 22nd country with over 1 million streams in a day.

    Globally, the song debuted at number 90 on the Spotify Chart with 1.7 million streams and garnered 2.27 million streams on its first day of release.

    “Piece of My Heart” secured the biggest streaming debut for an African artist on Spotify, surpassing Wizkid’s own record with “MMS” featuring Asake, which had 870,577 streams on its first day.

    After a recent encounter at a London nightclub, where the two artists ignored each other, Wizkid directed his insults at Davido’s entourage.

    He called them foolish and broke, claiming they wouldn’t dare confront him.

    Grammy-winning singer Wizkid has boasted about his stature in the industry after an encounter with rival Davido at a London club.

    On Friday night, Wizkid and Davido crossed paths at the club.

    Despite Davido’s presence with his 30 Billion Gang, Wizkid seemingly ignored him and vice versa. 

    Wizkid later posted on his X handle, “Everybody Dey find Big Wizzy”.

    They previously partied and hugged at a Lagos club last year. 

    However, Wizkid claimed Davido initiated the reunion and allegedly pursues him “like a fanboy” wherever he goes.
