  • Yemi Alade visits alma mater

    An award winning music star, Yemi Alade, last week paid a visit to her  alma mater, Victory Grammar School, Ikeja, Lagos.

    Alade visited the school  to show appreciation to the management and proprietor of the school, Chief (Dr) Christian Francis Olaniyan .

    Yemi Alade was accompanied by her entourage and some of the old students of Victory Grammar School, Ikeja.

    In his welcome address, Chief Christian Francis Olaniyan charged the Students to emulate a good example of icon Afro POP singer, Yemi Alade, adding that despite her academic excellence and achievements, after graduating from University of Lagos, She worked hard to discover her talent  in music  and became a well-known and international star worth of emulation.

    Olaniyan has charged the students to emulate Yemi Alade .

    POP Afor Star who had won many music awards both in Nigeria and Africa thanked her alma mater and later went round the school.

  • Yemi Alade to speak at Midem 2018

    Johnny crooner Yemi Alade is set to share her experience as Midem in Cannes hosts the first African forum on June 5, 2018.

    Organisers of Midem have also launched its high-potential markets programme designed to assist music professionals from around the world.

    The new initiative, according to its management, aims to foster bilateral exchanges between international and national music executives and sectors in order to facilitate the structuring and professionalization of the high-potential markets.

    The four-day forum will be preceded by a series of industry meetings across four African countries, to support the structuring of the African music industry, stimulate discussions between African and international music stakeholders, and develop sustainable business models for African labels and artists in order to boost African music on a local and international scale.

    “It is such an exciting time to be an artist and especially in Africa, where there are so many talented and creative musicians who are breaking boundaries and whose music travels throughout the world, ” says Yemi Alade.

    “I’m very pleased to be part of the Midem African Forum and hope that sharing my experience as an artist will highlight the immense opportunities for African artists, not only in the continent, but globally,” adds the multi-award winning artist and fashion designer.

    As stated by the Director, Alexandre Deniot, Africa has incredible wealth in terms of musical talent and diversity of musical styles but the continent currently represents just 2% of the world music market.

    “As the home of the global music community, Midem is committed to supporting the development of the international music sector and that includes providing African artists and music companies with a platform to reach more fans and generate new revenues. We look forward to welcoming them to Midem in 2018 and beyond,” says Deniot.

    The African Forum is organised by Midem in association with pan-African music media network, Trace.

    “By partnering with Midem on the African Forum, we bring together Midem’s power as an international music business acceleration platform, with our expertise in afro urban music, along with our local knowledge and excellent relationship with our subscribers in Africa, at the service of promoting African talent and providing creative solutions to improve its local and international development,” notes Olivier Laouchez, CEO, Trace.

    Alongside the African Forum in June, Midem is also organising local meetings in the Ivory Coast, Nigeria, South Africa and Republic of the Congo, taking place from April 4 to April 12, this series of one-day events will bring together African and international music professionals for meetings, conference debates, workshops and live showcases.

    Ekiti Afenifere hails Buhari over APC reconciliation move

    The Ekiti State Chapter of Afenifere has backed President Muhammadu Buhari’s efforts to reconcile the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2019 general elections.

    The Afenifere expressed delight with the President’s directive that there should be no imposition of candidates in the run-up to the 2019 polls.

    The group also hailed the appointment of party leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, as the head of the reconciliation panel describing the choice as “wise and timely.”

    In a statement on Tuesday by its Chairman, Elder Yemi Alade, Ekiti Afenifere praised Tinubu for taking up the appointment “which every discerning mind knows how herculean it is.”

    The body also hailed the Chief John Odigie-Oyegun-led National Working Committee (NWC) “for being realistic about the state of the party and its readiness to cooperate with the Tinubu panel to bring peace and reconciliation to the party.”

    It urged Odigie-Oyegun not to regard the Tinubu committee as an indictment of the party leadership but as part of measures to build confidence in the rank and file of its membership.

    On the issue of security, the organization is of the opinion that all security agents should not relax at any time as the insurgents are never asleep.

    The statement added: “Accordingly, the army should brace up and never to allow such mindless account of students kidnap to rear its ugly head again.

    “What we need is peace across the nation and we know government can make it happen.”

    Music producer and self-acclaimed King of new wave, Krizbeatz, is set to end the year on a big note, with the release of a new single, ‘911’.

    The song, the fourth single off KrizBeatz’s ‘ADm’ album, which will be released on November 29, features Yemi Alade and Tanzania’s Harmonize.

    Krzibeatz, whose last single, Erima, featured Davido and Tekno, also disclosed that 2017 has been good to him and he will not rest on his oars until he has entertained the world with his music.

    “This year has been very good,” said Krzibeatz, who disclosed that being a music producer helps him to get better and improve on his craft as a musician.

    “We have worked hard on a number of projects that have earned us huge recognition from within and outside the country. As part of my plans to keep building on the brand, I decided to work even harder on my new album, which led to the first four singles we had released in the course of the year. 911 is another song that will change the game again and reaffirm my strong grip and influence on the music scene.”

    Speaking on the choice of Yemi Alade and Harmonize, the ‘Erima’ crooner revealed that he was certain that Alade and Harmonize remain two of Africa’s hottest singers and would add value to the the new sound. He also hinged his reason on his passion to keep entertaining the people despite being a music producer.

    BUDDING singer and music producer, Krizbeatz, is set to release a brand new single featuring Yemi Alade and Harmonize. Titled ‘911’, the track is coming on the heels of an earlier release, ‘Erima’, which featured Davido and Tekno.

    The song is the fourth single off KrizBeatz’s album which will be released to Nigerian audience and rest of the world come November 29.

    The musician disclosed that he would not rest on his oars until the rest of the world is entertained with the sound and vibes that come from his music.

    On why he decided to title his new song ‘911’, Krizbeatz said it was out of a passion to keep entertaining the people despite being a music producer.

    For him, being a music producer helps him to get better and improve on his craft as a musician, who understands what it takes to be a professional and all-round entertainer.     Yemi Alade, Kiss Daniel, others stormed Kogi for GLO music fest

    NIGERIA’S Confluence State, Kogi recently hosted traveling music concert, Glo Mega Music Nationwide Tour at the University town of Anyigba.

    Anchored by Juliet Ibrahim and Mercy Johnson-Okojie, the show was held in the sporting complex of the Kogi State University (KSU), drawing a mammoth crowd of fun-seekers from within and outside the university complex.

    DJ Tops set the ball rolling when he dished out melodious tunes to the excitement of the audience. Opportunity was later opened for members of the audience with rapping and dancing talent to engage in a competition. Winners went home with goody bags containing Glo branded items.

    Dancehall artiste, Runtown, formally opened the show with a superlative performance. The songs he performed include Kolabo, Fijo Gbowo, Emergency, Baby Answer, Superwoman and Bend Down Pause.

    Runtown was followed by the sonorous singer, Omawumi who gave a very good account of herself, rendering her tracks; Kokoma Bonsue, Somori and As I dey. She was followed by another high-flying female musician, Yemi Alade, who hit the concert with her full band.

    It was then the turn of Kiss Daniel to serenade the audience. He performed some of his major hit tracks, including No Be You track and Mama.

    The Egberi Papa 1 of Bayelsa, Timaya, and the African Queen creator, Innocent Idibia, a.k.a. Tuface, were the last acts of the evening of unrivaled fun. They brought the show to a befitting end, giving the audience beautiful memories to cherish for a long time to come.

    Organisers have said that the mega concert will return to Port Harcourt for a second edition of the show in the Garden City. This time, the show is billed to hold at Trans Amadi, Port Harcourt.

    Yemi Alade returns to Coke Studio Africa

    For the fourth time running, one of Africa’s top female acts, Nigeria’s Yemi Alade has returned to Coke Studio Africa, pairing with French rapper of Congolese origin, Youssoupha Mabiki.

    The duo are expected to produce an original song, among music covers and fusions produced by Ghanaian heavyweight music producer Killbeatz, who recently co-produced Ed Sheeran’s mega hit Bibia Be Yeye.

    The Johnny crooner spoke on her return on the show in Nairobi during the recording, expressing excitement.

    “It’s always a nice, fun and loving experience because I get to meet a lot of artists as well. Shout out to the crew,” she said.

    Yemi has been on a successful American tour for the last couple of months. However, it’s not all showbiz for the singer. She also expressed interest to support any charity and cause for children and widows. “When it comes to education and clothing, I will do the best I can for children. I am also passionate to work with widows as many people don’t remember them. I am always there for pep talks, seminars and ready to give my advice,” she said.

    Last year on the show, Alade was paired with Kenyan multi-talented artist Nyashinski and produced by Nigerian music producer, Chopstix. Her cover of Nyashinski’s hit song, Mungu Pekee was rated as one of the show’s most loved covers of all time.

    She has since featured Nyashinski in her new Swahili song, Nakupenda off her recently released new Mama Afrique EP, which features song remixes and different versions of her mega hits.

    Another mega Yemi collabo that was cooked at Coke Studio Africa was Africa, which she recorded with the music group, Sauti Sol (Kenya) during their pairing on the show’s third season.

    Yemi Alade is a two-time winner at the MTV Africa Music Awards Best Female Act (2015 & 2016).

    Yemi Alade joins ‘The Voice Nigeria’

    Still preparing for her Mama Africa tour, slated for June 30, in Los Angeles, eccentric singer, Yemi Alade has been listed as one of the judges for the second edition of The Voice Nigeria, billed to hit TV stations soon.

    The songstress who is set for the oncoming show stated, “About to resume my judge duties. Newest judge in town; the voice, honour, pleasure, thankful, the voice Nigeria.

    Alade joins the trio of Timi Dakolo, Patoranking and Waje who reprise their roles as coaches who critique contestants’ performances and guide their teams of selected artistes through the remainder of the season whilst also competing to ensure that their act wins the competition.

    Speaking on Alade’s addition to the panel, the Director, M-Net West Africa, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, said: “Yemi Alade is widely recognised as one of Nigeria’s biggest musical exports with incredible appeal across the continent and in other international markets. Not only is she an amazing vocalist, Yemi is also recognised for her energetic and entertaining performances on stage. We are thrilled to have her join The Voice and we cannot wait for the contestants and our viewers to experience her on the show.”

    Yemi Alade, is said to have replaced ace musician, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as Tubaba, who leaves the show to pursue other commitments.

    Since its original launch in 2010, The Voice has won audiences in countries like the US, Australia, South Africa and the UK, where other renowned artistes have occupied the show’s famous red chairs as coaches. In the first season, A’rese of #teamwaje emerged victorious winning the grand prize of an SUV and a recording contract with Universal Music.

    Auditions for the second season of The Voice Nigeria recently held across Nigeria in Abuja, Lagos, Port Hacourt and Enugu, and preparations are in top gear for the show’s return to television.

    STAR Lager Beer on Tuesday, announced its new football and music platform, Star Music The Fusion at the Grand Ballroom of Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

    The event saw the unification of the brand’s biggest activation platforms – music and football – and had football legends like Kanu Nwankwo, Jayjay Okocha, Emmanuel Amuneke, Victor Ikpeba and music artistes like Falz, 2baba, MI, Yemi Alade, Adekunle Gold, Humblesmith and others in attendance.

    The platform, which is based on consumers’ experiences and their passion for music underpinned heavily by their favourite foreign clubs, is the first of its kind in Nigeria.

    Star Music The Fusion will involve three concerts across Nigeria wherein six teams of football legends, artistes and DJs will compete to win the title.

    Popular actress , Funke Akindele and singer Yemi Alade have been nominated for this year’s Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards.
    The award celebrates kids’ favourites from across the worlds of film, television, music and pop culture. The Nigerian entertainers have been nominated alongside Trevor Noah, Lupita Nyong’o, Pearl Thusi and Wayde van Niekerk  in the “Favourite African Star” category.
    Hosted by WWE Superstar John Cena, Nickelodeon’s 2017 Kids’ Choice Awards takes place on Saturday 11 March at USC’s Galen Center in Los Angeles and premieres simultaneously on Nickelodeon (DStv channel 305) and NickToons (DStv channel 308) at 2:40PM on Wednesday 15 March.
