    Police arraign lottery agent for stealing N21,000

    The police, on Tuesday, arraigned a 25-year-old lottery agent, Moses Shonaike, at an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State for allegedly stealing N21,000.

    The accused, who is of no fixed address , is standing trial on a one-count charge of stealing.

    The Police Prosecutor, Insp Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that the accused, on July 29, about 9:00 a.m. at No. 5, Hospital Road, Okitipupa, allegedly stole the money.

    According to Orogbemi, the money belongs to one Gbenga Akinrinlola, the director of a lottery company.

    The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Sections 390 (8b) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State 2006.

    The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge and consequently, the magistrate, Mr Banji Ayeomoni, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 and a surety in like sum.

    Ayeomoni ordered that the surety must present evidence of one year tax payment to the Ondo State Government to the court’s registrar as part of the bail condition.

    He adjourned the case to Aug. 18.

    Student docked for slashing woman with razor

    A student, Akinboyejo Ayeni, 18, was on Friday arraigned in an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State for allegedly slashing a woman with razor blade.

    The accused, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a two-count charge of felony and assault.

    The Prosecutor, Insp. Zedekiah Orogbemi, told court that the accused on June 4 around 8: a.m. at New Garage in Okitipupa had misunderstanding with one Happiness Benijo and cut her with a blade.

    Orogbemi said the deep cut inflicted on Benijo caused her severe pains.

    The prosecutor said that the offences were contrary to and punishable under Sections 351 and 355, Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol.1 Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

    The accused however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

    The Magistrate, Mr Banji Ayeomoni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N20, 000 with a surety in like sum, who must present tax clearance for one year.

    Ayeomoni adjourned the case until July 14 for further hearing.

    Man, 31, docked over alleged unlawful possession of fire arms

    A 31-year-old applicant, Damilola Akinbawonmi, was on Thursday arraigned in an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State, over alleged unlawful possession of fire arms.

    The accused who resides at No. 24, Ojomo St., Okitipupa is facing a count charge of unlawful possession of fire arms.

    The prosecutor, Insp. Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that the accused was caught on June 4 with a rifle silencer around 8:00 a.m. at No 24, Ojomo St., Okitipupa.

    Orogbemi said that the offence contravened Section 430 Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State 2006.

    The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.

    The Magistrate, Mr Banji Ayeomoni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N70, 000 and one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until July 6 for further hearing.

    Court remands two men for motorcycle theft

    An Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court, in Ondo State, on Friday ordered the remand of two men for allegedly stealing an unregistered Hajoue Suzuki motorcycle valued at N200, 000.

    The defendants- Segun Akintudire, 22, a radio mechanic, and Kehinde Olufemi, 26, a welder are of no fixed addresses, denied committing the offence.

    They were docked on a two-count charge of felony and stealing.

    The Magistrate, Mr Banji Ayeomoni, ordered that the accused persons be remanded in prison and adjourned the matter until June 23, for hearing of their bail application.

    A tailor, Monsuru Sabitu, 26, who bought the motorcycle from the two defendants was also arraigned in court.

    Sabitu pleaded not guilty to the charge of receiving a stolen item, and was granted N200, 000 bail, with a surety in like sum.

    The prosecutor, Insp. Zedekiah Orogbemi, said the two defendants on May 13, around 4:30 p.m. at Oja Ale, Okitipupa, allegedly stole an unregistered blue Hajoue Suzuki motorcycle from where it was parked.

    The prosecutor said that the motorcycle with engine number IESEFMQA092031 and chassis number BE11G673081, belong to one Adekunle Bello.

    He said that the offences were contrary to and punishable under Sections 516 and 390(9), Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State 2006.

    Also, Orogbemi said that Sabitu on May 17, around 2:00 p.m. at Ayeka in Okitipupa, received the unregistered motorcycle, knowing that it was a stolen property.

    He said the offence was contrary and punishable under Section 427, Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State 2006.

    Driver arraigned for dangerous driving

    A 32-year-old driver, Bola Akinwalere, was on Thursday docked at an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State over alleged dangerous driving and causing bodily harm to one motorcyclist, Sola Ayegbami.

    The prosecutor, Insp. Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that the accused on May 22, around 3.30 p.m., along Okitipupa-Aye road drove one Toyota Sienna car with registration number BDG 746 QZ dangerously.

    He said that the accused who had no driver’s licence and  due to speeding, hit Ayegbami from behind which caused the him  several degrees of injuries and bodily harm.

    The prosecutor added that the accused also damaged one Qlink motorcycle with registration number KTP 189 AA belonging to Ayegbami.

    The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 6 and 10(3) of the Federal Highway Act, Cap.F13, Vol.VI, Laws of Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

    The accused whose address was not disclosed in court, however, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of dangerous driving and driving without a driver’s licence on public highway levelled against him.

    The magistrate, Mr. Banji Ayeomoni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 and a surety in like sum with evidence of a year-tax clearance as part of the bail conditions.

    He adjourned the case until June 15 for further hearing.

    Boy gets N30, 000 bail over alleged theft of bicycle

    A teenage boy, Dele Iwakun, who was allegedly caught riding a bicycle he stole, was on Thursday brought before an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State.

    The accused, 19, whose address is unknown, standing trial on a two-count charge of stealing and unlawful possession of property.

    The accused, according to Police Prosecutor Zedekiah Orogbemi, committed the offences on April 8 at about 7.45 p.m. at Broad Street, in Okitipupa.

    He said Iwakun stole the bicycle valued at N30, 000, property of the complainant, Mr. Alex Chigozie, from where it was parked.

    The accused was later caught two weeks after when he was riding the bicycle, Orogbemi told the court.

    The offences contravened Sections 390(9) and 430 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ondo State 2006.

    The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and was granted bail in the sum of N30, 000, the valued of the bicycle, and a surety in like sum.

    The Magistrate, Mr. Banji Ayeomoni, who gave the ruling, also said the surety should present an evidence of a year tax payment.

    Further hearing in thehas been fixed for May 23.

     

  • Teenager arraigned for keeping dangerous weapons

    A teenage boy, Kabiru Kogbodoku, on Wednesday appeared in an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court, Ondo State, charged with unlawful possession of some dangerous weapons including an axe.

    The accused, 18, is facing a charge of unlawful possession of dangerous weapons.

    The Prosecutor, Insp. Zedekiah Orogbemi told the court that the accused was on May 2 at 1.00 p.m. on new motor park road, Okitipupa, was caught with an axe, two hammers and a knife.

    He said the accused was unable to give a satisfactory explanation what he wanted to the weapons.

    The offence contravenes Section 80 of the Criminal Code,  Laws of Ondo State 2006.

    The accused pleaded innocence of the offence.

    The Magistrate, Mr Banji Ayeomoni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with a surety in like sum , who should also provide evidence of tax payment to the government.

    Further hearing has been fixed for May 16.

  • Commercial driver docked for dangerous driving

    The Police on Tuesday arraigned a 28-year-old commercial driver, Olusola Adeleye, in an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State, over alleged dangerous driving.

    The prosecutor, Insp. Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that the defendant on April 19, around 2.00 p.m. drove dangerously a commercial Picnic car with registration No. Ondo KTP 500 AA, on the Okitipupa-Ore highway.

    He said that the accused allegedly hit one Rekiat Keshinro from behind, causing her severe injuries, which led to hospitalisation.

    Orogbemi said that the offence contravened Sections 5, Federal Highway Act, Cap F13, Vol.VI, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

    The Magistrate, Mr Banji Ayeomoni, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50,000 with a surety in like sum and adjourned the case until May 15 for further hearing.

  • Court remands mechanic for theft of four generators

    An Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State on Tuesday remanded a generator mechanic, Tayo Akindoye, 40, in prison for alleged stealing of four generators valued at N134, 000.

    The accused of no fixed address is standing trial on a three-count charge of felony, burglary and stealing.

    The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge leveled against him.

    The Magistrate, Mr Banji Ayeomoni, ordered that the accused be remanded in prison till April 13, pending the determination of his bail condition in the next adjournment.

    The prosecutor, Insp. Zedekiah Orogbemi, earlier told the court that the accused, with one other at large, on March 2, 1.30 a.m. conspired and burgled the Isowa family house in Ode-Aye, near Okitipupa.

    He said the accused stole two Tiger generators, valued N13, 000 each, a Sumec 3,000 capacity generator, valued N46, 000, property of one Imole Fadayomi.

    The prosecutor further said the accused also stole an Elepaq  3,700 capacity generator, valued at N62,000, property of one Augustine Eweje.

    He said that the accused committed offences contrary to and punishable under Sections, 412, 414 and 390(9), Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State 2006.

     

  • Robbery: Man remanded in police custody

    A 22-year-old man, Bayo Kagoto, who allegedly robbed a man of his mobile phone and N79,000 with others still at large, is to remain behind the bars until April 14, an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State ruled on Friday.

    The Magistrate, Mr Banji Ayeomoni, who gave the ruling, said the accused should be remanded in police custody until the next date of adjournment.

    He directed the police to apprehend the receiver of the stolen phone and the money.

    The accused, whose address is unknown, is being tried for conspiracy and stealing.

    Police Prosecutor Zedekiah Orogbemi told the court that the accused with five others still at large committed the offences on March 31 at about 5.00 p.m. at Ikoya near Okitipupa.

    He said the accused and others robbed the complainant, Folayemi Ayeni of his Tecno V6 phone valued at N8,500 and N79, 000.

    The offences, according to Orogbemi, contravened Sections 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ondo State 2006.
