The stress of teenage life

Why is teenage stress a topic of interest? How does it affect teenagers? Why must parents be informed on it? How does it affect the development of the society? Who are referred to as teenagers?

These questions might go through the minds of people reading this article or might be asked by people of the society. The reality is that extreme cases of stress can trigger mental illness and depression in teenagers.

Teenagers are highly susceptible to stress this can be clarified, According to the survey by American psychology association in 2004, teenagers are more stressed than adult.

Teenagers are individuals within the ages of 13 to 19 years old. Teenagers suffer from stress due to the desire of meeting the expectations of their parents and performing excellently academically. The desire to be accepted by their peer group and sexual relationship with partner could develop stress.

Teenage stress could also be caused by traumatic events like accidents, sickness and death of a loved one. Financial problems within the family, moving to a new school might be difficult for the teenager to adopt to a new lifestyle.

Parents can observe signs of stress in teenagers who seem unhappy, depressed and gets angry easily. There is lack of interest in activities, isolation from family and friends, fatigue or tiredness. The teenager is usually moody, anxious, cries occasionally, irritated easily and loss of focus.

Research has shown that teenage stress could be manage by having a goodnight sleep helps the body and mind to relax.

Participation in healthy exercise like jogging, running helps to relieve stress. Eating healthy and balanced diets like vegetable and fruits. Parents supporting their children and teenagers engaging in activities that will make them happy.
