As a minister of God, I want us, Nigerians, to continue to give all glory to the Almighty God for holding us as ONE. Also, as we mark the 58th independence anniversary, we have every cause to celebrate for keeping our unity together, in spite of the numerous challenges Nigerians are facing. Good leadership and institutions remain the best option for the country to move forward, and for a good that will empower the electorate to hold the government and ask questions where and when necessary, and to also reflect for better Nigeria, and keep hope alive.
Independence Day is a day that calls for a sober reflection for everyone, as we are enjoying the government of the people, by the people and for the people.
I also want to call on all Nigerians to support the unity and peace of Nigeria, being the merit of Nigerian independence, more so, as it guarantees peace and unity knowing that when there is no peace, there cannot be a path to socio-economic and political development and no improvements in the life and welfare of ordinary Nigerians.
There is also need to plead with President Mohammadu Buhari and his economic team to tackle the economic hardship in the country and also not to betray trust and enormous goodwill upon which this government rode to power, hence the need for all of us to be involved in good governance.
Going by the situations in the country now, tough times don’t last, but tough people do, however we cannot continue to lament over our lost opportunities and as individual and people, we need to find concrete solutions our series of problems and march on strongly without prejudice to what the present government is up to, the government still needs to take steps to tackle the followings the pains and sufferings of Nigerians by dealing with high costs of foodstuffs, irregular supply of electricity, poor infrastructure, not-too-good roads, poor states of health and schools facilities, the alarming rate of unemployment in our society, the spate of killings, violence and insecurity across the country traumatising he hapless citizenry, among others.
In addition, the unending criminalities arising from corruption, killings, cultism, rape kidnappings, armed robbery, poverty, unemployment, hopelessness, ailing economy, unfulfilled electoral promises, decay in socio-infrastructure among others, hovering over the country should be checked urgently, for there to be sustainable peace, stability, justice and fairness without which there can be no meaningful development and good governance.
