Two charged with beating policeman in Osun

Two men Idowu Salami and Opeyemi Popoola have been arraigned in Osun State Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo for allegedly beating an Assistant Superintendent of Police and stealing four singlets.

The defendants, charged with conspiracy, assault, stealing, malicious damage and threatening to kill an officer, were first arraigned on September 10, 2020 and granted bail,

Police prosecutor Rasaq Olayiwola alleged that they and others now at large beat up Assistant Superintendent of Police,  Adeleke Adewale and threatened to kill him while performing his lawful duty.

“They also stole four singlets valued N1,200, property of one Francis Ezekwere, threatened to kill him and destroyed one of the singlets,” the prosecutor said.

The defendant pleaded not guilty.
