Two die, eight injured on Benin-Ore Road

Two persons have died while eight were injured in an accident on the Benin-Ore Expressway.

The crash, which occurred on Sunday night in the J4 Ogbere area of Ogun State, involved a bus and a truck.

Federal Road Safety Corps, Superintendent Route Commander, Florence Okpe, in a statement, blamed loss of control for the accident.

Ten persons were involved in the crash while two died, she said, adding that the injured were taken to “State General Hospital Ijebu-Ode while the dead were deposited at the morgue”.

Also, a truck loaded with cement yesterday plunged into a river after veering off a bridge between Odogbolu and Ososa on Sagamu-Ore Expressway.

Local divers and Police Motor Traffic Division from Odogbolu retrieved a body from the water and were still searching for more.

Efforts were also being made to locate the submerged truck and pull it out.

The accident caused gridlock on the road but operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) were seen clearing the congestion.
