Samuel Maduka University, sited at Ekwegbe, Nsukka, in Igbo-Etiti local government area, is expected to be one of the leading private universities in the country when completed.

Ugwuanyi, while laying the foundation stone, said it was a milestone which every Nsukka and Enugu indigene should be proud of, noting that government would do all it can to support the project.

An entrepreneurial university will address the issue of youth unemployment by making graduates not only to be self employed, but also employers of labour themselves.

Onyishi, who was praised by Ugwuanyi, said that the university was not just another business venture but an avenue to help the needy and make the society better.

“I did not conceive this university as another business.  I see it wholly as a social service which should improve the lives of people of all races and mould for limitless attainments.

Crucially, the vision is that of a citadel of learning in all ramifications, founded on the best principles and run on the best ethical practices,” he said.
