ULC members return to NLC after five years

AFTER five years of face-off with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), members of the United Labour Congress (ULC) have returned to the NLC to form a united labour movement.

The ULC, led by its erstwhile President, Joe Ajaero, sometimes played the spoiler game each time the NLC threatened the Federal Government with a strike on national issues.

The ULC, along with some affiliate unions, had broken out of the NLC because of irreconcilable differences, which occurred during the conduct of the national elections at the 10th National Delegates’ Conference in 2015.

But, after months of silent talks, the leadership of both unions agreed to reconcile, with ULC returning to the fold of the NLC.

NLC President Ayuba Wabba, who broke the news to reporters on Thursday, explained that the leadership of the NLC and UCL were committed to the bond of brotherhood and solidarity which the labour movement all over the world are known for.
