Dr. David Oyedepo
Welcome to the concluding part of this teaching! I hope you were blessed by last week teaching. This week, we shall focus on: Unveiling Vital Keys to Unlocking the Supernatural!
From Scriptures, we discovered that every believer is redeemed to be a commander of the supernatural and thus, loaded with supernatural virtues (Mark 16:20). Therefore, we must understand the supernatural content of our redemption before we can effectively unlock it. Remember, the supernatural was the trade mark of Jesus’ activities on the earth and that should also be our heritage. This simply implies that whatever others find difficult to achieve or conquer should be effortless to us because we are to operate in the supernatural as Christ did. Jesus said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father (John 14:12; see also John 10:38).
Moreover, it is important to know that every manifestation of the supernatural is a confirmation of the Word of God we have put to work. So, the Word we know and put to work is the force that commands the supernatural. It is written, And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs (Exodus 4:17). And Jesus is the rod that came forth from the stem of Jesse and He is the living Word of God (Isaiah 11:1). Similarly, because we are operating in the realm of the supernatural; we are to be wondered at. This is because we have been repositioned as a wonder to our world and the Bible says the Kingdom of God is within us (Luke 17:21; Colossians 1:27). However, it is important to know that we live in a Kingdom that operates principally on keys. Hence, ‘key’ here simply connotes revelation and it means having access to what has already been provided for by Jesus at redemption (Matthew 16:19; Luke 11:52).
What Are the Vital Keys to Unlocking the Supernatural?
- Commitment to Spiritual Growth and Development: Spiritual growth is a non-negotiable requirement (key) in unlocking the supernatural. Thus, it’s not about how long we have been born again but the depth of our knowledge in the Word of God, which makes the difference. Remember, maturity is not a function of age but of depth. For instance, at the age of twelve, the Pharisees were astonished at the understanding Christ possessed (Luke 2:46-47). Likewise, at the age of 17, David, who knew what God could do, brought down the head of Goliath (1 Samuel 17:37, 49-51). However, to experience spiritual growth and development, we must be ready to learn by being under tutors as seen in this scripture, Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father (Galatians 4:1-2).
- Commitment to Engaging Biblical Mentality in Our Approach to the Issues of Life: At redemption, we became spirit beings. That means our dominion has been restored and we now possess a God-given authority over the things that harass others. For it is written, That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit (John 3:6). As a result of this dominion, we need biblical mentality to sustain our command of the supernatural. Also, we must possess the mentality of the supernatural in our approach to the issues of life because that is where we belong to in Christ. Furthermore, until our mind is renewed; our lives cannot be transformed. We must see ourselves the way God sees us from the pages of Scriptures before we can function effectively in the realm of the supernatural (Proverbs 23:7; Ephesians 4:23; Luke 17:21).
- Be Committed to Serving God and the Interest of His Kingdom: When we are genuinely committed to serving God and the interest of His Kingdom, what consumes others cannot consume us. This is because serving God can turn anyone to a wonder. For example, we saw in the story of Daniel, how God made him a wonder to king Nebuchadnezzar (Daniel 3:17-18, 24-28). Thus, this helps us to understand that serving God unlocks the supernatural without sweat. No doubt, making God our priority for living turns us to a living wonder among men; thereby, adding to us all things that others are dying to get (Matthew 6:33). Also, there are blessings that accrue to those committed to serving God and the interest of His Kingdom. The Bible says, And ye shall serve the Lord your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee (Exodus 23:25-26; see also Job 36:11; John 14:21, 15:16; Genesis 12:3).
In summary, to operate in the supernatural, we must have a proven new birth experience not mere spiritual activity as others do (John 3:8). Thus, we must understand that God is no respecter of persons; so, if we are too big to be saved, then we are too big to operate in the supernatural. Are you born again? If you are not, this is an opportunity to do so. Simply say the following prayer: Lord Jesus, I come to You today. I am a sinner. Forgive me of my sins. Cleanse me with Your precious Blood. Today, I accept You as my Lord and personal Saviour. Thank You Jesus for saving me! Now, I know I am born again!
