Barely ten minutes the transition notes of the former Governor Abiola Ajimobi of the APC was handed over to him, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has made his first political appointment to set a footing for his administration to take off.
Makinde appointed the PDP Oyo South Senatorial Candidate in the last Presidential and National Assembly election, Chief Bisi Ilaka as his Chief of Staff.
Ilaka lost the election to the APC candidate, Senator Teslim Folarin
The new governor made the declaration at the executive chamber of the Governor’s office, Agodi, Ibadan during the handing over ceremony coordinated by the state Head of Service, Mrs Ololade Agboola.
Makinde who had earlier in the day been sworn in at a widely attended ceremony at the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Liberty Road, Ibadan alongside his deputy Mr Rauf Olaniyan, urged the workers that would be working with him to be transparent, promising to do same with them.
The governor also at the handing over ceremony extended the tenure of the PDP transition committee for two weeks so as to allow them study the handover notes and make appropriate recommendations to the government.

He said “We are here to offer our best for the good of the state and the citizens. I want to urge all workers that will be working with us to be transparent and I promise we will be transparent with you too.
“I want to assure all the workers that our administration will not witch-hunt anyone or deal with people based on tribe, religion and political affiliations.”
Speaking earlier, the Head of Service informed the new governor that the task before him (Makinde) is herculean but that the state civil and public service will be there for him.
Agboola said “Your Excellency, the journey before you is a herculean task, but you are rest assured that supports would be there for you from the civil and public servants across the state. You are embarking on this journey with the assurance that Oyo state would be better than you met it.
“Your Excellency, may I state categorically that the entire citizenry who voted en-mass for you and your party have high expectations. To whom much is given, much is expected. Let me, therefore, pray for Your Excellency that the God of success will grant you the grace to succeed in your administration.
” In conclusion, Your Excellency, I wish to restate that all civil servants and the entire citizens of Oyo state are solidly behind you. We promise to be loyal, dedicated and committed to this incoming administration. The task of moving Oyo state forward is the duty of all of us and the success of this administration is the success of all of us.”
According to the State Head of Service, the handing over note is in two parts with the first part being the general administrative set up which contains the activities of governance while the second part contains annexures I, II and III.
She added that the Annexure I is the situation report as submitted by all MDAs, Annexure II, the inventories of assets from MDAs while annexure III is on the 2019 Appropriation and Finance Law.
