Visiting Ghanaian lawmakers witness mace drama

Ghanaian lawmakers on an exchange visit were at the National Assembly at yesterday when the mace was stolen from the Senate chamber.

They sat at the gallery to observe the House of Representatives proceedings during the debate by members of the invasion of the red chamber.

House leader Femi Gbajabiamila apologised to them on behalf of the National Assembly.

He said: “We apologise because this is not usually how our legislature operates. It is unfortunate that we have visitors from Ghana, who are on a parliamentary visit to Nigeria.”
