An independent election observer group, Yiaga Africa, has expressed worry about the docility and apathy of voters towards election matters.
It regretted the extension of the docility during post elections, as litigants hardly saw election observers’ findings as good evidence in time of dispute.
A board member of the group, Ezenwa Nwagwu, speaking in Awka, the Anambra State capital, however, dismissed threat of violence in the state.
He said no sign suggested that insecurity would hamper the exercise.

Nwagwu said pre-election survey conducted by the group in the state reflected “voluntary” voter apathy as a major threat to the poll.
He said: “The fear of security threat has always been there and should be guarded against. The major challenge is to get the electorate to come out and cast their votes.
“No winner of Anambra governorship election has ever emerged with more than 300,000 voters out of about 2million registered voters. So, apathy is the major fear in the election, not insecurity.”
Nwagwu said Yiaga was engaging stakeholders, including the Police, Civil Defence, monarchs, the media and political parties to change the narrative of elections in the state.
He urged residents, who had attained voting age, to register and ensure that they cast their votes on election day.
