Plateau State Governor Simon Lalong has reassured the Committee on Fiscal Efficiency and Budget from the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Commission of channelling the requested funds into three key areas of agriculture, solid minerals and tourism.

He said his administration is passionate about developing the potential of the state and creating jobs for its teeming youths in order to reduce restiveness and crimes across the state.

Lalong stated this in a statement by his spokesman, Dr Makut Simon Macham when the Committee led by its Chairman, Alhaji Adamu Shettima Dibal visited him at the New Government House Little Rayfield in Jos.

Dibal said they are in the state to carry out an assessment of the state’s submission following its application to access funds from the Development of Natural Resources Fund.

He assured the Governor that after its visit, the Committee will give its report to the Commission for further consideration and approval of its demands.

The Nation reports that Governor Lalong recently, at the flag-off of the  high-powered revenue drive exercise at the Plateau Internal Revenue Service Headquarters in Jos, the Plateau State capital lamented that shortage of funds has crippled the completion of ongoing projects and to initiate new ones across the state in line with the promises made to citizens of the state.

“We have so much work to do but little resources. It is the revenue we generate that will enable us to complete some of the projects that are ongoing and also initiate new ones.

“We remain determined to deliver on our campaign promises to the people,” he said.
