Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun has said his administration will prioritise the welfare of civil servants and improve their working conditions. He noted that civil service was an integral part of governance.
The governor, who made this known while declaring open the 2019 National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCN), held at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta, said his government is premised on good governance, which cannot be realised without adequate provisions for the people who serve in the day-to-day running of the government.
Prince Abiodun, represented by his deputy, Mrs. Noimot Salako-Oyedele, said the administration had created an enabling environment that would facilitate good governance.

“Immediately we got into office, our government had an engagement with civil servants to know their challenges. Issues that have to do with their welfare, which included delay in salary payments and backlog of promotion were discussed. Today I can boldly tell you that salaries are paid before the last day of every month and promotion exercise has been conducted for some civil servants.”
“We are working to improve the working condition of civil servants by providing office accommodation and working tools,” he said.
The National President of ASCN, Comrade Bala Kaigama, said the meeting was convened to meet the commitments of the association.
