We’ve lost over N12b, say luxury bus owners

From Emma Elekwa, Onitsha

Association of Luxury Bus Owners of Nigeria (ALBON) has said its members lost over N12 billion to the COVID-19 lockdown, closure of motor parks, boundaries and borders across the country since March 2020.

It sought Federal Government’s help to get loan facilities and other palliatives for its members to overcome the economic challenges the pandemic has placed on the transport sector.

The association sought the assistance through the Federal Ministry of Transportation.

Addressing reporters on Tuesday in Onitsha, Anambra State, ALBON’s National Task Force Chairman Joseph Ejiofor and Anambra State Task Force Chairman Uchenna Maduakor regretted that then association’s members were still counting losses as the lockdown and border closure persisted.

Ejiofor said: “Most members find it difficult to pay salary and feed their families because since March 2020, their buses in Nigeria and in other Africans countries were parked in their garages without doing any business.”
